Tommy Fleetwood’s 18th hole putt ‘hits ball mark’ as Brit heartbreakingly denied £2.7m PGA Travellers Championship title

TOMMY FLEETWOOD was heartbreakingly denied his first PGA Tour win after his putt appeared to hit a ball mark on the 18th hole.

The Brit led by three shots going into the final day of the Travelers Championship.

But he ended up missing out by a shot after bogeying the 18th to hand victory to Keegan Bradley.

Fleetwood had a six-foot putt to win but his shot appeared to hit a ball mark and drifted inches wide.

He then agonisingly watched on as Bradley sank his putt from a similar distance to birdie, achieving a two-shot swing on the final hole to win the championship.

One fan reacted saying: “That’s just unbelievably bad luck.”

Another added: “1.9M ball mark. Ouch.”

And a third wrote: “Really sad to see for the guy.”

The result means Fleetwood’s wait for a PGA Tour win continues.

He also missed out on the £2.7million winning prize pot.

Fleetwood shared his disappointment after the final round, saying: “I’m gutted right now.

“I’ve not been in that situation for a long time. It’s probably the worst way to finish.

“Leading by two with three to play. Leading by one going into the last and you don’t even make it to a play-off. It’s the worst way it could go.”

Abandoned EFL stadium left to rot with pitch covered in weeds just five years after hosting final match

A FORMER EFL stadium has been left covered in weeds after being abandoned five years ago.

Boston United played their final game at York Street in 2020, as they moved to the newly built Jakemans Community Stadium.

The ground was first opened in 1933[/caption]

The stadium was first opened in 1933, as football had been played on the site since the late 1800s.

The ground was initially known as Shodfiriars Lane and hosted several clubs from Boston.

The Pilgrims made it their official home in 1933 as they became the only team to play there.

York Street was rebuilt in the 1970s with a capacity of over 6,500 with new terracing, stands, floodlights, toilets and turnstiles.

The Town End Terrace was also redeveloped with an estimated cost of £200,000 – raised by the local community.

This was done after inspectors deemed it unsuitable for the Football League.

Despite the maximum capacity, the record attendance was 11,000 when Boston faced Derby County in the FA Cup in 1974.

Boston had managed to hold the Rams to a 0-0 draw in the original tie but lost the replay at home 6-1.

There are also ten more matches on record that saw the number of fans surpass 8,000.

The stadium featured in the EFL after Boston’s promotion in 2002, when they reached the third division.

The league became League Two in the 2004/05 season.

York Street’s stay in the EFL would end with the Pilgrims’ relegation from the EFL in 2007.

Boston had run into financial issues and were deducted 10 points for failing to pay creditors.

The club was dropped into the sixth tier and have since played across the non-league divisions.

The stadium was used for much more than just football during its heyday.

In the 1930s, it hosted greyhound racing, which occurred around the pitch.

It was a popular event as over 1,000 fans attended the first organised meeting.

The track was closed during World War II and was never reopened.

The ground is now derelict after it was abandoned as can be seen in a picture shared on social media.

The snap shows the pitch has become overgrown with weeds and is looking worse for wear.

The stadium was put up for sale in 2022 with a price tag of £5million.

That figure has now been slashed by £3m, according to Poyntons Consultancy.

The consultancy firm has claimed it would be “suitable for retail warehousing”.

My name is so bad that people assume it’s short for something else but I’ll have the last laugh with my epic comebacks

HAVING a unique name has its ups and downs, but having to constantly explain it to new people cant be pretty exhausting.

That’s what this person recently discovered, and it’s no wonder people were left scratching their heads.

Reddit users came up with some funny responses they could share next time someone pried[/caption]

They took to Reddit to reveal their unusual moniker – Rat.

“I’m doing a lot of introductions at the moment, and people are always intrigued by my name, they keep asking the history behind it or what it’s short for,” they explained in the viral post.

The only problem was the name isn’t short for anything, so there was nothing to tell.

And although they did have one funny comeback to the constant questions, the same response was getting a bit old, they explained.

“Aside from the jokey answers like ‘Ratatouille‘, I don’t have anything to tell them, my name has always just been R-A-T, it’s my full first name,” they said.

They continued: “I’m getting kind of sick of having the same conversation if I’m real, so does anyone know a name that Rat could be realistically short for?

“It would certainly make introductions a bit less painless for me. I just moved to a new job, and they’re more of a posh crowd who are very nosy lmao. I can see the questions brewing.”

Luckily, the fellow Reddit users had some incredible responses lined up for any further prying questions.

One said: “You gotta hit ‘em with the ol’ Rat-a-tat-tat.”

And a second came up with a whole list of potential names including Ratthew, Rattlesnake, Ratorichal question, and Ratasha.

A third took a different approach and said: “An answer like ‘Rattus rattus’ could help drive the full name point home in a slightly sarcastic way.”

Another joked they should tell people the name is short for ‘Mouse’.

“My parents called me ‘Brat’ but I dropped the first letter,” was another suggested response.

But others though telling people another backstory was a better idea as one said: “It’s your nickname from prison. You ratted everyone out and got early release. Better to not ask why you were in.”

“It is short for Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat, obviously,” someone else joked.

Meanwhile, some Reddit users were more focused on why Rat didn’t know where their name really came from.

They said she never asked when they were younger, but have now missed the opportunity to find out from their parents.

“I’ve never asked. I think maybe it was after a musician or artist back when they were kids, but then again, my best friend growing up was also a boy called Badger,” they explained.

“I’m not even the first Rat I’ve met, we both thought each other were taking the piss though when we first met because it’s a bit rare.

“I’m White British, so as far as I know there’s no cultural meaning to it.”

Are Unique Baby Names Worth The Hassle?

YOU may think having a unique name helps you to stand out, but is it all it's cracked up to be?

Fabulous’ Deputy Editor Josie Griffiths reveals the turmoil she faced with her own name while growing up.

When I was a child, all I wanted was one of those personalised keyrings with my name on it.

But no joy, the closest I could find was Rosie, Joseph (not great for a little girl) and Joanne.

Josie is short for Josephine, which is a French name, and I managed to reach my 20s without ever meeting anyone who shared it.

When I try to introduce myself to people, I get all sorts of random things – like Tracey and Stacey – which can be pretty annoying.

Although I have come into contact with a couple of Josies over the last year – there seems to be a few of us around my age – it’s still a much rarer name than most of my friends have.

On the whole I don’t mind it, at least it’s not rude or crazily spelt.

And it means I can get away with ‘doing a Cheryl’ and just referring to myself as Josie.

I’m getting married this year and some friends are shocked that I’m changing my surname, as it’s not seen as very cool or feminist to do so these days, but I explain to them that I’m not that attached to Griffiths as I’d always just say ‘hi it’s Josie’ when ringing a mate up.

I think it’s nice to be unique and I’ll definitely try and replicate this when naming my own kids.

It’s the rude names you’ve got to watch out for, so after nine years as a lifestyle journalist I’ll definitely be avoiding those.

Dumped Love Islander Malisha’s savage digs at co-stars revealed as she refuses to hold back in fiery interview

LOVE Island’s latest dumpee Malisha didn’t hold back as she made a bombshell appearance on Aftersun last night.

Opening up about her whirlwind time in the villa, Malisha got candid about her grafting with Dejon and her fiery clashes with Meg.

She also dropped a few eyebrow-raising one-liners that had the audience gasping.

During a spicy segment, Malisha was asked by an audience member to give one-word verdicts on her fellow Islanders.

When it came to Shea, she didn’t mince words, saying chatting to him was like “talking to a brick wall.”

Her feud with Meg is clearly far from over.

The teaching assistant admitted their clashing personalities were “too similar,” but claimed Meg “went too far” — and said they’d “never be friends” on the outside.

While things didn’t quite work out with Dejon in the villa, Malisha left the door open for a post-show spark, cheekily saying they had “unfinished business”.

To add fuel to the fire, Dejon’s own family were watching from the Aftersun audience and were asked who they thought was the better match for him: Meg or Malisha.

Without hesitation, they proudly declared they were Team Malisha.

During her time in the villa, Malisha found herself at the centre of a “bullying” row after clashing with Meg Moore.

Meg was furious with Malisha for getting to know her man Dejon and fans watching at home felt she was being picked on.

Her exit came after the arrival of bombshell Harrison, who is a footballer.

Harrison took Malisha and Toni on separate dates before being told he had to pick one to take back to the villa.

The girl he didn’t choose would be sent packing.

Harrison chose to take back Toni, who is from America, meaning Malisha was dumped.

Fans were so cross by the brutal way she was eliminated from Love Island that they threatened to call Ofcom.

Fans convinced Valtteri Bottas has new job as Lewis Hamilton’s former F1 team-mate posts cryptic social media updates

EX-FORMULA ONE star Valtteri Bottas has left fans convinced he has landed a new job after a pair of cryptic social media posts.

The Finn lost his F1 seat with Sauber at the end of the 2025 season and now operates as the Mercedes team reserve driver.

However, Lewis Hamilton‘s old team-mate has been linked with reclaiming a spot on the grid when the paddock expands to accommodate Cadillac as the 11th F1 team for 2026.

And to that end, Bottas has left fans thinking an announcement over his future is imminent after he appeared to tease a partnership with the US luxury car manufacturer.

Taking to social media, Bottas first shared a pair of snaps of himself at a pool table wearing a cowboy-style hat at Silver City Aspen in Colorado.

But it was his second post which really got fans talking.

While out on a stroll, Bottas’ cameraman, Paul Ripke, pointed out a car ahead of them, before highlighting it was a Cadillac.

Having opened the door of the car, Ripke remarks: “That’s a nice seat.”

The 35-year-old then goes and touches the seat, saying: “Oh wow, that’s actually a nice seat.”

After a moment of looking inside the car, Ripke notes: “And there’s two seats.”

Bottas looks and then looks at Ripke, saying: “And they’re both free.”

He is then asked if he wants to sit in it, to which he replies: “Not yet.”

American manufacturer Cadillac are joining the F1 2026 grid in partnership with General Motors.

Bottas is one of the favourites to land one of the two new seats which will be up for grabs at the team next season, and would represent a wealth of experience with 246 race starts to his name, including 10 wins and 19 poles.

And taking to the comments of Bottas’ post, fans now believe an announcement could be coming soon, with one saying: “A code?”

A second said: “Are you saying what I think you’re saying, without saying it?”

A third added: “That means what I think that means?”

Another said: “Please lord, I don’t ask for much!”

A fifth said: “Yeah he’s back for 26 isn’t he lol.”

Bottas is, of course, known to be very cheeky with his social media activity, so the tease should be taken with a pinch of salt for the time being.

Besides, he is facing stiff competition from the likes of Sergio Perez, who was axed by Red Bull in 2024.

Motorsport icon and ex-F1 world champion Mario Andretti – one of the directors of the new team – has already confirmed the team were looking at the Mexican driver to take one of the seats.

Speaking to Fox Sports in May, he said: “All I can tell you is that he’s [Perez] certainly one of the drivers that’s being considered. He has to be.

“I cannot divulge as to where we are with any commitment whatsoever — I think we want to keep that luxury to ourselves until we feel that we have scanned the entire spectrum of availability. I think that’s a prudent thing to do.”

Other drivers who have been linked include Mick Schumacher, Zhou Guanyu, Alex Palou, and Colton Herta.

The next F1 race will commence in Austria next weekend off the back of a double Mercedes podium in Canada, which saw George Russell take the win ahead of Max Verstappen and rookie team-mate Kimi Antonelli.

Palace’s place in the Europa League has been under threat due to Textor’s ownership of Lyon

Palace’s place in the Europa League next season has been under threat due to Textor’s ownership of Lyon, who have also qualified.

The American’s role across both clubs could have been a breach of Uefa rules and Palace were expecting a ruling on Friday.

But Textor‘s sale, which is subject to approval by the Premier League, should clear the path for Palace to play in Europe.

Johnson, 78, will have the same 25 per cent voting share alongside Steve Parish, Joshua Harris and David Blitzer.

He has long held an interest in buying a Premier League club and rivalled Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital for Chelsea in 2022.

Johnson is a former US ambassador to the UK, having held the post during Donald Trump’s first term in office, and is a close friend and financial backer of the American President.

Palace’s senior figures have been meeting with Uefa in a bid to avoid being dumped out of the Europa League.

Textor confirmed after a meeting in Switzerland that he was exploring selling his stake, having tried to do so last year as part of a failed bid to buy Everton.

The deal with Johnson was signed over the weekend in the United States.

Textor has long complained about a lack of influence or control at Selhurst Park, with he and chairman Parish enduring a strained relationship.

Palace qualified for the Europa League thanks to their historic FA Cup win over Manchester City.

But they could have been barred from the Europa League as Lyon would have been given precedence having finished higher in their domestic league.
