Irish mother & 2 kids evacuated from Iran as Harris warns ‘extra volatility & danger’ after US strikes & trade ban bill

AN IRISH mother and her two children were evacuated from Tehran as the Middle East crisis worsens.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has been working with Irish citizens in Israel and Iran to get them home safely as war tears apart the Middle East.

Overnight on Sunday, a mother and her two children were evacuated from Iran with the help of Irish diplomats.

It will take a number of days for the family to reach Ireland with European countries assisting Irish diplomats in getting the mam and her two kids out of Iran.

This follows the evacuation of 15 Irish citizens from Israel on Sunday.

This group of Irish people were unable to be flown out of Israel as the skies remain closed to any non-military planes.

The group were driven to the border before being flown home in an operation led by officials from Austria.

Tanaiste Simon Harris today hit out at Trump for bombing Iran’s nuclear sites as he accused the American President of adding fuel to the fire in the Middle East.

The Fine Gael leader said that “nobody in the EU wants to see Iran with a nuclear weapon” but claimed the best way forward was through a negotiated settlement.

Asked about the US bombings on Iran, the Tanaiste said: “There are international laws that say you shouldn’t do this.

“I am also very clear that actually the actions of the US added a significant level of danger to an already volatile situation.

“It was a very unhelpful intervention.

“While there will be I’m sure different views and different perspectives, the reality is this – the only way I believe to make progress in relation to this and to stop and already tinderbox type of situation getting worse is to get back to a negotiated situation.”

He accused the US of adding “a huge layer of extra volatility and danger” to the situation in the Middle East.

Taoiseach Micheal Martin said Ireland “would have preferred dialogue and diplomacy” instead of America’s bomb attack on Iran’s nuclear base.

However, the Fianna Fail leader said Iran was a “malign actor in the Middle East for quite some time and even got involved in the Ukraine war by providing drones”.

‘MALIGN ACTOR’

Asked if he thought the US had breached international law by bombing Iran, the Taoiseach said: “Ireland is multi-materialist. We believe in the international rules-based order.

“In that sense, we would have preferred dialogue and diplomacy in relation to the nuclear issue in Iran.

“This has been an issue for quite a number of decades now. Iran has been a malign actor in the Middle East for quite some time.

“They even got involved in the Ukraine war by providing drones and so forth. In particular, its support of Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis and its declaration of its position of destroying Israel openly declared makes for a very complex scenario in the Middle East.”

‘HUGE DANGER’

The Taoiseach urged world leaders not to let the war with Iran to distract from Israel’s actions in Gaza where children are being bombed or starved in an ongoing onslaught.

He said: “There is a huge danger that Gaza will be sidelined and marginalised in terms of the international profile.

“The continuing loss of life in Gaza is appalling. The number of children who are facing malnutrition, death from malnutrition is simply unconscionable.

“The international community needs to maintain its focus on ending the war in Gaza and allowing for the huge surge in humanitarian aid in and the release of all hostages and the commencement of the reconstruction of Gaza and the peace process there.”

‘NOT WAITING ANY LONGER’

It comes as the Government will on Tuesday move to ban trade between Ireland and occupied territories in Palestine as Tanaiste Simon Harris declared: ‘Ireland is not waiting any longer.’

The Occupied Territories Bill was originally tabled by Independent Senator Frances Black in 2018 in a bid to ban trade between Ireland and illegally occupied parts of other countries – mainly aimed at Israeli settlements in Palestine.

However, successive governments have delayed the legislation due to “legal issues” with Simon Harris due to put forward a watered down version of the Bill at Cabinet today.

The new Israeli Settlements Prohibition of Importation of Goods Bill will make it illegal to trade goods with illegal Israeli settlements but not services – meaning tech and finance businesses still have the green light.

TOO SLOW TO SANCTION

Tanaiste Simon Harris today criticised the EU for being too slow to sanction Israel over their attacks on Gaza as he said Ireland will not wait any longer.

He said: “Just to get ahead of anybody who thinks I’m not clear on this, I am very open to considering the issue of services, but we do need to have legal clarity on whether that’s possible or not.

“I’ve asked the Attorney General I relation to that but I will bring draft legislation because we’re not waiting in Ireland.

“We’re not waiting. The children of Gaza have waited far too long. I’m a big fan of the EU. I think the EU has been the greatest peace project ever.

‘CONSEQUENCES MUST FLOW’

“I’m really, really a big fan of the EU. I’m very proud we’re core members of the EU but our response in relation to Gaza has been much too slow and far too many people have been left to die as genocide has been carried out.”

Tanaiste Simon Harris met with EU Foreign Affairs Ministers in Brussels today where they discussed Israel’s association agreement with Europe.

Israel are in breach of the human rights clauses in the trade agreement with the EU, with the Tanaiste calling for all trade to be paused due to this.

He said: “It’s not good enough to just say someone is in breach and it’s a consequence-free zone.

“If a review finds a breach, then consequences must flow from that and the rationale for consequences is this – it is to try and change behaviour.

“It is to use every lever at our disposal to make the horrific actions in Gaza stop.”

Small boat migrants get illegal £1k-a-week delivery rider jobs within HOURS of landing in UK – as YOU fund their hotel

CHANNEL migrants are working as fast-food delivery riders within hours of arriving in the UK while being housed and fed at taxpayer expense.

They rake in nearly £1,000 a week operating from asylum accommodation, used as hubs for black-market work on apps like Deliveroo and JustEat.

Migrants in hotels are banned from working in any circumstances if they have been in Britain for less than 12 months.

Even those here longer are not allowed to legally work as delivery drivers.

But at two packed hotels in London and one in Bournemouth — each one housing hundreds of asylum seekers — we snapped migrants in branded jackets for Deliveroo, JustEat and Uber Eats.

Some rode £1,000 e-bikes while others used public-hire bicycles.

Last night Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick said: “This crucial Sun investigation reveals yet another appalling abuse of our immigration system.

“These delivery companies know exactly what they’re doing. It’s a disgrace and they need to be made to feel consequences.”

We found Deliveroo and Just Eat accounts for rent on dozens of online forums — for as little as £40 a week.

Migrants exploit a loophole allowing legitimate account holders to sub-let work, even though signing up for an account is free.

One group has 20,000 members and sees dozens of posts a day advertising illicit accounts which require no documents.

An undercover Sun reporter posing as a small-boat arrival from Afghanistan was offered an account ten minutes after signing up.

When asked if having no documents was a problem, one “Deliveroo dealer” told him: “You will not be caught, Inshallah (Allah willing).”

Many illegal workers use the cash on top of their living allowance to pay off people smugglers. Others send cash home for relatives to save up to join them.

We know an example where Just Eat has paid 50 workers in a single bank account

James Farrar, director of Worker Info Exchange

And government sources say the speed at which migrants are processed on quiet days means they can now start earning on delivery apps within hours of arriving in Dover.

James Farrar, director of Worker Info Exchange, said: “We know an example where Just Eat has paid 50 workers in a single bank account.”

Legal worker Marcio Silver, 52, said: “They are taking a lot of jobs, stealing food off our family’s table.”

The Sun understands the Minister for Border Security and Asylum, Angela Eagle, is meeting deliver companies next week, to help tackle illegal working in this sector.

Policing Minister Dame Diana Johnson said: “The Sun investigation is right to highlight this illegal working racket, which undermines honest business and undercuts local wages.

“The Government is taking action by increasing illegal working raids by 40 per cent since the election and introducing new tough laws to ensure every employer has to conduct full worker eligibility checks.”

Our investigators found more than a dozen groups on social media dedicated to flogging delivery accounts to “sub-contractors”.

In almost all cases these turn out to be illegal migrants with no right to work in the UK

Posing as a small boat arrival from Afghanistan, a Sun reporter using open Facebook groups was quickly flooded with offers from all over the country.

One so-called “Deliveroo dealer” wanted £80-a-week or £200-a-month to rent an account in West London.

After we raised fears of being deported if discovered, the dealer insisted: “You won’t be caught in any way bro.”

We then asked if he had rented accounts to small boat migrants before. He replied: “Yeah sure bro, many times.

“You don’t need to verify any identity — you’re just renting account, not creating account.

“I will give you the login info, then you will make half payment of the weekly rent and you will login and start working.

“After you work for one week you will make the balance payment.”

Asked how he would get round Deliveroo rules which require delivery workers to photograph themselves once a day, he added: “Once it asks for selfie you will call or text me, then I will login and verify.”

FROM BOAT TO BIKE IN HOURS

1. MIGRANTS climb on to dinghies in the waters off French beaches and begin the journey across the Channel. Once in UK waters, they are taken in by Border Force.

2. AT Dover, they arrive at a facility called Western Jet Foil where they are searched, given a set of dry clothes, shoes, food and water, and receive first aid if they were injured on the journey. They are then processed at a former military base at Manston.

3. CHECKS are done there in as little as three hours. Once complete, they are taken by coach to one of around 210 asylum hotels across the country. Migrants have no say in which hotel they are placed in.

4. ASYLUM seekers join one of dozens of social media groups offering accounts for rent. They pay as little as £40 a week to get login details for an account on Deliveroo or Just Eat.

5. MIGRANTS work 15-hour shifts using their hotels as a base for their bikes, bags and uniforms. They can rake in hundreds of pounds a week as handlers guarantee they will not be caught.

We found another seller offering Just Eat accounts who said a migrant could make as much as £250-a-week just by working for a few hours a day.

Online payment services could be used to get round not having a UK bank account.

He stressed: “You won’t be caught, Inshallah (Allah willing).

“I will get everything prepared for you in an organised way.”

Many of the 210 asylum hotels across Britain have become hubs for the scandal, which sees Channel migrants able to find illegal work within hours of coming ashore.

Deliveroo and Just Eat riders can be seen entering and leaving the property at all hours.

At the Thistle City Barbican Hotel in central London, a black screen had been erected to hide the illegal workers from public view.

‘Horrible and aggressive’

At least 100 bicycles and top-of-the-range electric bikes have been stored outside, with migrants brazenly riding off in Deliveroo, JustEat and Uber Eats branded jackets with matching food bags.

Signs have been put up in the makeshift storage yard in English, Arabic, Persian, Pashto, Kurdish, Spanish and the African language of Tigrinya.

One tracksuited asylum seeker in his 20s travelled two miles to King’s Cross. He delivered an order from fried chicken shop Coqfighter to an unsuspecting customer.

At the Best Western hotel in Peckham, South London, the entire courtyard was filled with bikes and bags — surrounding a replica of the Only Fools and Horses three-wheeler.

As we watched, one migrant hotel guest exited the building and cycled away to begin his shift with a bag strapped to his back.

In Bournemouth, three hotels are contracted to put up migrants. We witnessed one man leave the Chine Hotel, in Boscombe, with a Just Eat bag.

200K DELIVER GRUB TO BRITS

By Thomas Godfrey

THE food delivery industry is worth £15billion in the UK and uses more than 200,000 self-employed riders.

Experts say the restaurant-to-door market is growing 12 per cent a year, with firms like Deliveroo and Just Eat ballooning from start-ups to giant firms in a decade.

UK firm Deliveroo, which has 50,000 riders, processed £7.4billion of orders in 2024, turning a profit for the first time. US rival DoorDash is to buy the app for £2.9billion.

US investment firm Prosus bought Danish-founded Just Eat for £3.4billion this year.

It previously offered some riders sick pay but returned to a gig model in 2023 amid mounting losses.

Both firms have vowed to back employment checks covering firms hiring gig economy and zero-hours workers.

The Sun also watched as four men were seen cycling from The Britannia hotel in East Cliff with delivery goxes.

Campaigners told The Sun that illegal work was making it almost impossible for legal delivery riders to cope.

One, 52-year-old Marcio Silver, said: “Sometimes one guy will work in the morning, and then another will take over and do it at night.

“Some are horrible and aggressive. They fight with customers and eat their food. It’s bad for business. This is the Wild West, and there are no rules.”

Consumer rights expert James Farrar, director of Worker Info Exchange, said: “It’s not surprising people actually having to pay for their own accommodation can’t make ends meet.”

Sources told The Sun that on quieter days, small boat arrivals can be processed in as little as three hours and sent to a taxpayer-funded hotel.

The Sun investigation is right to highlight this illegal working racket, which undermines honest business and undercuts local wages.

Policing Minister Dame Diana Johnson

One added: “Those coming here know that as soon as they reach UK waters, they are guaranteed a spot in a hotel which they don’t have to pay for.”

Lsst night Just Eat said: “We are continuously strengthening our approach to ensure anyone who delivers through Just Eat’s platform has the right-to-work in the UK.

“Last year, we introduced a new mechanism requiring couriers to inform us that they are using substitutes and for these substitutes to complete right-to-work checks.

“We have now rolled out the next phase. Couriers are randomly prompted to complete a facial recognition test, which must match documentation held on our system.”

Deliveroo said: “We have a dedicated team in place who ensure Deliveroo does not work with riders who don’t have the right to work in the UK.

“We are consistently strengthening our controls against misuse of our platform, with further measures in development.

“All riders, including substitutes, must complete right-to-work checks which we are robust in monitoring with daily identity verification and, most recently, additional checks when a rider logs in using a new device.”

Uber Eats has more stringent checks than its rivals and far fewer sellers. A spokesman said: “All couriers who use the Uber Eats app must undergo checks to ensure they have a legal right to work in the UK.

“Uber Eats has launched new detection tools to crack down on anyone attempting to work illegally on our platform.

“As a result, we are removing fraudulent accounts and we are constantly reviewing and improving our processes.”

Ferne McCann’s acid attacker ex Arthur Collins strikes up ‘romance’ with Love Island star – & she thinks ‘he’s the one’

SHAMED acid attack jailbird Arthur Collins has struck up a “romance” with ex-Love Island star Amelia Peters.

Fiend Collins, 32 — who is serving 20 years behind bars — contacted the 26-year-old last October after checking out her Instagram profile.

He has sent her bouquets and she visits him in prison regularly, it is said.

A source added: “They talk all the time — despite the fact he’s in jail.

“He’s got a phone they speak on and he’s sent her flowers a number of times.”

Possessing a phone in jail is an offence and can lead to a loss of privileges or a longer sentence. Collins got an extra eight months in 2018 for smuggling a phone into jail.

His fresh antics emerged after The Sun on Sunday revealed that scheming lag Collins had a “steroid” injected into his bottom in his cell.

The would-be Romeo was dating Towie’s Ferne McCann in 2017 when he threw acid in the Mangle E8 club in Dalston, East London — leaving 16 people with chemical burns.

Collins planned to marry Annie Bull in 2022 after romancing her from his cell. He proposed during a visit, after which she had his name tattooed under her boobs.

Now Amelia, on Love Island in 2017, has fallen under his spell.

On his birthday last month, she posted on her Instagram an image of red roses with the letter “A” above them.

She wrote: “Happy birthday to the most handsome pain in the arse, Love you x.”

Our source went on: “Amelia has made no secret of her relationship with Arthur and has told her friends she’s mad about him and thinks he’s the one.

“She says she thinks Arthur is a changed man.

“Some of her mates are worried about her getting involved with him but Amelia won’t listen.”

Another source, close to Amelia, tried to downplay talk of a romance and said: “She’s visited Arthur but he is a family friend.”

Meanwhile, Collins has been transferred from The Mount Prison in Herts — where the injection footage was taken — amid fears he was scheming to import drugs using drones.

An anti-corruption team has found illicit items at his new home, HMP Buckley Hall, near Rochdale.

A source said: “He’s in trouble constantly and doesn’t seem to care.

“He goes around like the big ‘I am’ as if he rules the roost.”

My wife drank too much and ended up cheating on me with a mate on night out

DEAR DEIDRE: A STUPID row over a night out triggered the disintegration of my marriage – my wife drank too much and ended up cheating on me with a man at a party.

I threw her out but I’d have her back in a heartbeat.

I’m 34, my wife is 31, we’ve been married for four years and have a three-year-old daughter.

I’m a roofer and because my job is physical, I’m often feeling wiped out by 9pm on a Friday.

The Friday in question was no exception. We had been invited to an engagement party but I didn’t want to go. I was shattered.

My wife was already in a sexy dress and her hair was up. She looked gorgeous and there’s nothing I’d have liked more than a snuggle on the sofa.

But she was determined to party and after we rowed about it she stormed out in a strop, leaving me to cancel the babysitter.

She came home looking dishevelled and drunk. I was cross and worried, until she burst into tears and told me that a man at the party had come on to her.

She had been drinking cocktails and admitted that she had felt out of control. She went outside with him and they had sex at the back of the party venue.

I was horrified and felt sick when she told me. I told her to leave. She went sobbing into our daughter’s room and, by the time I woke up, they had both gone.

I’ve been lonely and even felt suicidal but the thought of my little girl’s face melts my heart. The house feels so empty. All I want is an apology — and my family back.

DEAR DEIDRE

Married form tutor used me for sex and dumped me... should I contact him?

DEAR DEIDRE

I feel guilty about having so much casual sex & fear daughters will do the same

DEIDRE SAYS: My guess is that she’s afraid of your reaction if she calls you. She’s embarrassed about her behaviour.

Don’t let your family life slip through your fingers. She sounds remorseful.

Arrange to meet when you are feeling calm and tell her how much she has hurt you and how much an apology would mean to you.

Cheating is a huge betrayal but, if you both want this to work, your relationship can recover.

I hear from many couples who survive cheating because they then build something new.

Start sentences with “I”, rather than “you” to express your feelings – and try to look at the future and the changes you both need to make rather than dwelling on what’s happened.

My support pack called Cheating – Can You Get Over It? is packed full of further advice that may help.

HIS GAMBLING DEBTS HAVE COST ME ALL MY SAVINGS

DEAR DEIDRE: I’VE just given the last of my savings to my boyfriend, bailing him out once again.

I didn’t have much – just under £1,000 – but he has a gambling habit and he needs to settle his debts.

I feel like a fool because although he promises to pay me back he never does.

He just worms his way into my good books and then asks if I can lend him more money.

I’m 23 and work as a teaching assistant, so I don’t earn a lot. But my parents instilled in me that I should save a bit for a rainy day. Now it has all gone.

My boyfriend works in a pub kitchen at night. He’s 25 and has a lot of time on his hands during the day.

I hardly see him, really, but don’t want this relationship to end.

DEIDRE SAYS: He is taking advantage of you but, at the same time, you are helping him to feed his habit by giving him your hard-earned money. What would happen if you just said no?

There are alarm bells ringing for me. If he loves you and really wants to change, you can encourage him to get support through Gamcare, which helps with betting addictions (gamcare.org.uk, 0808 8020 133).

If you refuse him more money and he ends your relationship, you’ll know he wasn’t genuine.

My support pack, Mend Your Broken Heart, will help you move on.

WAS IT MY FAULT MY PARENTS SPLIT UP?

DEAR DEIDRE: MY dad is back in the country after 12 years away and I want to confront him about why he abandoned me.

He left our mum years ago. I’m a man of 19 and my brother is 22. My father stayed in touch with my brother and I remember them going out together on outings – but never me.

He’d send my brother Christmas and birthday cards, but never me.

He told my brother it was because I was so young at the time and I used to cry because I was away from my mother. Now I’m older, I realise that my brother was probably his favourite.

He emigrated when my brother was ten and I was seven. My brother still has money put in his bank account by Dad for birthdays, but I get nothing. I feel cut off from him.

Was the family break-up my fault? I need to know the truth.

DEIDRE SAYS: No, it was not and I can categorically say that. A child is never the reason why their parents break up.

You’re an adult now, so in the first instance talk to your mother. She may be able to shed some light on why your dad paid you little attention as a child and also now.

If you still want to then face your father, having some insight will help. Contact The Mix (themix.org.uk, 0808 808 4994) which has a free helpline for young people.

HUBBY FURIOUS I RUMBLED FLING

DEAR DEIDRE: I FOUND the courage to call my husband’s lover after finding explicit messages on his phone.

We’ve been married for ten years and have a girl and a boy. I’m 36 and my husband is 34. Since my difficult birth with our son our sex life has fallen off a cliff but it was OK before that.

I never thought he would cheat, but he started buying new clothes and going out in the evening “to see a mate”, stinking of aftershave and looking as if he was going on the pull.

His cousin is a beautician and, because I wanted my nails done, I took his phone to find her number. What I saw were hundreds of messages to numerous other women. Some were explicit, saying what he wanted to do with them.

I was angry so I rang one recurring number to find out the truth. Surprisingly, she was lovely. I think he’d pulled the wool over her eyes, too.

She apologised, admitting that they’d been having sex for a year. She didn’t know he was married and told me he’d asked for a threesome with her best friend, which was happening in two weeks’ time.

When I confronted him he raged at me, saying if anyone had spoiled our relationship, it was me – for snooping! I’m distraught but he claims if I hadn’t looked at his phone, I wouldn’t be upset.

DEIDRE SAYS: He’s got a way of diverting the attention away from his bad behaviour. He’s cheating and not only jeopardising your marriage, but putting your sexual health at risk.

Don’t let him get away with it. Insist he talks to you about where you go from here.

If he’s checked out of the relationship, you need to know. My support pack, How Counselling Can Help, will show you where you can find emotional support.

If he decides to go to sessions with you, that will help you to have a better understanding.

The Irish presenter has moved in with some big celebs for her fly-on-the-wall TV show Living With Lucy over the years including Katie Price, Michelle Heaton, and Barry Keoghan but this could be the most exciting one yet.

Living With Lucy typically airs between September and October each year with Lucy moving in with her hosts across the autumn months.

However, after Lucy wrapped up filming the latest series, the star has possibly spoiled one of the guests for the upcoming season.

The Dublin native has let it slip that she will be staying with Keeping Up With The Kardashians star Caitlyn Jenner on the next series of Living with Lucy.

Lucy was in Los Angeles filming the new season of her show recently and didn’t reveal to fans who the celeb was, but simply teased that the person is “very, very, very famous”.

The mum-of-three later posted a photo of the pool that was part of the home she was staying in.

The fabulous pad featured sprawling ocean views with a clear blue sky in the background.

While, in the foreground, a stunning infinity pool could be seen alongside some deck chairs.

Sharing the image with fans, Lucy said: “Miss this though.”

And eagle-eyed fans were quick to realise that the views, pool and home belong to none other than Caitlyn Jenner.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star will potentially be Lucy’s biggest star this season.

The $3 million Malibu pad was also later reported as the home of the Olympic star by the Irish Independent and the Sunday World.

However, fans will have to keep guessing as Lucy or Virgin Media have not yet confirmed the names of any the guests appearing in the show’s upcoming season.

Only recently, Lucy shared a snap of her and her sisters, that left them calling them the “Irish Kardashians”.

SIBLING LOVE

The popular presenter told fans she “couldn’t live” with out her two siblings, Anna and Gemma.

Lucy took to her Instagram to share a snap with the pair, the iconic trio huddled in close as they smiled for the picture together.

For the occasion, Lucy donned a stunning fur gilet – that she paired with a leopard print blouse.

SIMILAR SISTERS

Her sisters both wore similar outfits as they both popped on white blouses with black jackets.

Sharing the snap, Lucy wrote: “I would be lost without my two favourite people… sisters.”

Friends and fans were quick to the TV stars comment section to point out how similar the siblings look.

Fellow TV presenter, Anna Daly said: “Irish Kardashians.”

Anne commented: “Nothing like sisters.”

Keegan Bradley is fiery US Ryder Cup captain who still hasn’t unpacked suitcase from last appearance 11 YEARS AGO

FIRE-BREATHING US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley may just have given himself the chance to finally unlock the suitcase that has remained off for limits nearly 11 years.

After experiencing a second successive Ryder Cup defeat at Gleneagles in 2014, Bradley vowed never to unpack his case until he finished on a winning USA team.

After losing the Ryder Cup in 2014, Bradley vowed never to unpack his case until he finished on a winning USA team[/caption]

That looked increasingly unlikely as the man from Vermont failed to play his way back onto the team, was controversially snubbed for a wild card in 2023, and was then installed as US captain a year ago.

But exactly a year to the day after he was asked if he wanted to take on the Ryder Cup captaincy, he clinched a victory that handed him a whole new dilemma.

Bradley, who jumped at the chance to do the job Tiger Woods had already turned down, has spent the last year playing down his chances of becoming the Ryder Cup’s first player-captain since Arnold Palmer doubled up in 1963.

But after his dramatic win in the Travelers Championship, he admitted he would have to take a “pretty hard look” at whether he should be on his own team.

In front of a Connecticut crowd chanting ‘USA, USA’, Bradley took advantage of Tommy Fleetwood’s three-putt bogey on the final hole by sinking a six footer for birdie – and a one shot victory.

That propelled him to a career high seventh in the world rankings, and catapulted him from 17th to ninth on the Ryder Cup qualifying list.

Only the top six qualify automatically. But the question now is whether Bradley, 39, can afford NOT to pick himself, unless his form falls off a cliff between now and September 26, when the battle with Europe begins at Bethpage Black in New York.

No-one can doubt Bradley’s passion for the Ryder Cup. Or anything else.

He has become famous for the sort of frenzied celebrations that followed his latest win – letting out a massive roar, screaming a few obscenities at the adoring New England crowds and chest bumping caddie Scott Vail.

When he calmed down, a sheepish-looking Bradley confessed: “I kind of lost it again there, didn’t I? I might be in trouble with my mom for using some bad words.”

It would not be the first time.

Despite being known for his fiery nature, Bradley shocked plenty of people with his outburst in the USA’s President Cup team room, shortly after holing the winning putt  in their victory over the Internationals last year.

He roared: “I’ve been doubted my whole f***ing life, That’s when I do my best work. We are gonna go to Bethpage to kick their f***ing ass.”

Bradley later claimed he was surprised that comment was broadcast on Netflix’s Full Swing series. Really?

They did not hold back from showing the stunned reaction of the entire Bradley family when he missed out on a wild card pick from Zach Johnson two years ago, with the out of form Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler picked ahead of him.

Maybe the memory of how the Scottish crowd taunted Bradley over his exaggerated pre-shot routine – a dozen or more club twirls, and backing away from his ball a few times before pulling the trigger – counted against him.

And his volatile on-course antics, which once saw him in a World Match Play face-off with Migel Angel Jimenez that had to be defused by a rules official, has also raised a few eyebrows.

Off the course, Bradley is a completely different animal – a devoted family man who dotes on wife Jillian and their two sons.

And he has formed a close friendship with basketball legend Michael Jordan.

Bradley was their original brand ambassador when the range of Jordan golf shoes was launched, and he still wears them now. Do not be surprised if golf nut Jordan is one of the US cheerleaders at Bethpage Black in September.

Bradley, 39, insists he will not surrender the US captaincy, “under any circumstances”.

But he admitted the possibility of doubling up – and leaning more heavily on vice-captains Webb Simpson, Brandt Snedeker, Kevin Kinsner and Jim Furyk to look after the off course stuff – is now a real possibility.

He said: “This changes the story a little bit. I never would have thought about playing if I hadn’t won. This definitely opens the door to play.

“I don’t know if I’m going to do it or not, but I certainly have to take a pretty hard look at what’s best for the team and we’ll see.

“I never really planned on playing. I really wanted to just be the captain. I really felt strongly about that. I want to serve the guys. They asked me to do a job. I want to do it to the best of my abilities.

“Now, with the amazing vice captains that I have, and I have a better perspective of playing in the Presidents Cup and being around a lot of the guys, I feel a lot more comfortable if I went that route.”

“It’s still only June, so we’ve still got a long ways to go. This definitely changes things a little bit, and we’ll all get together and figure out the best way to do this.”
