UK farm said to be at centre of car thefts – graveyard of ‘100s of stolen motors dumped & stored before sold overseas’

AN Essex farm has found itself at the centre of an alleged car theft epidemic after being linked to an international car smuggling ring.

Baldwins Farm in South Essex has recently been exposed in a Channel 4 documentary for allegedly being a hotbed of organised crime

However, according to the MailOnline, this is far from the first time that the farm has been accused of illegal activity.

Channel 4’s recent Dispatches instalment featured Baldwins Farm, and began with an Audi A4 that was stolen from a driveway in North London on March 15th.

Unbeknown to the thieves, the car leasing company had previously fitted the vehicle with a hidden tracker.

The tracker showed the Audi’s journey from London to a patch of woodland in Baldwins farm, which is tucked away in an area of green belt just inside the M25

Possible GPS jamming or blocking equipment was thought to have prevented the tracker from working at the farm, however, five weeks later, it reappeared in Kaunas, Lithuania.

Dispatches then tracked it to a business in the outskirts of the city called Baltic Car Trade.

The documentary showed police as they raided the property, but all that was left was a bunch of wires – the car has been torn apart, like many others that are stolen off of British streets

Organised gangs of criminals steal thousands of cars each year to then ship abroad as parts destined for scrap yards in the Middle East and Africa.

The Dispatches investigation also revealed that at least two other stolen cars with trackers had ended up at Baldwins farm, in a part of the farm nicknamed “Lithuanian end.”

However, this allegedly isn’t the first time the site has come under fire.

In 2020, Essex Police conducted a raid that recovered three Range Rovers and a Land Rover discovery.

Some of the vehicles were already in the process of being broken down for parts.

Dispatches identified Martin Clark as the director of the company that owns the lease to the part of Baldwins that the car was found on.

Clark was jailed in 2007 for six years for his part in a £4million car theft ring.

After being tracked down to a large house in Essex with several parked luxury cars on the drive, Clark told journalist, Matt Shea, to “F*** off.”

Former police officer, Neil Thomas, told the MailOnline that he wouldn’t be surprised if Baldwins Farm had been used to store stolen vehicles.

Thomas, who now works for a private track and recovery service for stolen cars, said: “The access in and out is quite restricted, it’s quite close to London, quite close to the docks, so if you are exporting vehicles it’s a really good location.”

According to the MailOnline, who visited the farm last week, there is only one road in and out in the form of a dusty track, and the whole site is brimming with CCTV cameras.

Drone images of the farm show rows of parked vehicles and shipping containers, as well as piles of scrap metal.

There are plenty of legitimate businesses renting units at the farm, including window companies, car repairers and a cement business run by the Bromley family.

However, the MailOnline claims that the site has also long attracted criminal clientele.

Like many semi-rural parts of Essex, the area saw an influx of criminals from the East End during the 1970s and 1980s.

Gangsters found it useful due to it being relatively isolated while still being close to London.

The current Channel 4 investigation focuses on allegations of stolen cars tied to an international smuggling ring.

The family who now run the site, insist that any criminality is a thing of the past.

Jake Bromley, 29, told the MailOnline: “That stolen Audi has nothing to do with us and we have nothing to do with the land where the Lithuanians are.”

In reference to Martin Clark, who Dispatches reported as holding the lease to the land that the vehicle was tracked to, he said that he simply rents the land to the businessman and will review the contract when it ends in 2026.

Jake explained that himself and his sister, Lily Tiger, 25, are keen to make an honest living and are fearful of this negative publicity.

The pair were made directors of the new company Baldwins Farm Limited in February this year.

Popular supermarket chain drops range of medical home testing kits for menopause, thyroid and iron deficiency from €8

A POPULAR supermarket chain has dropped a range of medical home testing kits for menopause, thyroid and iron deficiency from €8.

Tesco Ireland chiefs have released Silex at-home health tests, giving shoppers an easy way to screen for common health issues.

And they can give results in just minutes[/caption]

All tests are priced at €8, with some coming in packs of two, working out at just €4 per test.

Each one is designed for self-testing at home and comes with straightforward instructions, rapid results and clinically tested accuracy.

To start, Tesco is offering the Silex Menopause Self-Test in a pack of two for €8, designed to detect levels of follicle-stimulating hormone to help assess menopause.

The test is taken using urine and gives a result within five minutes, with a result window that compares the test line to a control line for accuracy.

A strong or equal line suggests perimenopause, while a fainter line indicates normal FSH levels – a quick option for those experiencing irregular periods, night sweats or mood changes.

Next up is the Silex Iron Deficiency Self-Test for €8, which uses a blood sample to screen for low iron levels by detecting ferritin concentration.

It’s a cassette-based test that gives results in just five minutes, and can help flag iron deficiency anaemia – often associated with fatigue, hair thinning or brittle nails.

After applying a drop of blood and buffer solution, the results show whether ferritin levels fall within or outside the normal range.

Also priced at €8, the Silex Underactive Thyroid Self-Test checks for elevated thyroid-stimulating hormone in the blood.

The test is done with a finger prick, requires two drops of buffer and takes around 10 minutes to produce results which is shown as coloured lines on the cassette.

Symptoms like low energy, memory issues, and heavy periods may suggest an underactive thyroid and this test offers a shoppers quick way to check.

Tesco is also stocking a Silex Urinary Tract Infection Self-Test, which comes with two dipsticks for only €8.

It only takes one to two seconds of immersion to use, with clear results ready in just two minutes, and an accuracy rate of 99.5 per cent.

Quick and accurate results

This is a useful option for anyone experiencing a burning sensation when urinating, and it can detect signs of infection like leukocytes, nitrites and blood in the urine.

Another product in the range is the Silex Vitamin D Self-Test for €8, which helps check whether your levels are sufficient.

The test involves drawing a small blood sample, adding two drops of buffer and comparing the colour result to a provided card.

It has over 94 per cent accuracy and can be helpful for those who feel fatigued, have bone aches, or get limited sunlight exposure.

Lastly, the Silex Vaginal Infection Self-Test is available for €8 and checks vaginal pH to help identify possible cases of bacterial vaginosis.

Users apply a swab to the pH panel and the colour result appears in just one minute – with yellow-green indicating a normal range and green-blue suggesting abnormal pH.

All six self-tests are available now in Tesco Ireland stores – and savvy shoppers must act fast.

Top horse owner ‘facing complete business collapse’ with duty free empire at risk of falling

A TOP horse owner is said to be facing ‘total business collapse’ – with his duty free empire at risk of falling completely.

Sun Sport told you Leicester City chairman Aiyawatt “Top” Srivaddhanaprabha has left his role as chief executive of King Power with the company staring at “massive losses and potential failure”.

The Andrew Balding-trained Bellum Justum has been a revelation on the racecourse but his owner’s business looks to be in a state of peril[/caption]

Top, 39, is now “group executive chairman” with his role switching to “determining the direction and setting the policy frameworks for business operations”.

There are fears over what that means for 5000-1 Premier League winners Leicester City’s future amid their current financial woes.

The Foxes have been relegated from the Premier League and face a likely points deduction in the EFL next term.

Top continues to have a large number of racehorses – including one called Straight Back Up – under the hugely successful King Power banner.

With names such as Fox Vardy, Fivethousandtoone, The Foxes and Dillydingdillydong, the horses have always paid homage to the Srivaddhanaprabhas and their King Power/Leicester association.

And, thanks to top class trainers such as Andrew Balding, the thoroughbreds have picked up some top prizes too.

King Power Racing Co Ltd has earned more than £5million over the past five years on the Flat.

Their best year was 2019 – the year after Top’s father Khun Vichai and four others were killed in a helicopter crash at Leicester’s stadium.

The operation had earnings of £2.4m that season thanks in part to Donjuan Triumphant’s Group 1 Champions Sprint Stakes win at Ascot.

That was worth £330,000 and came on the back of other big-race successes including Shine So Bright’s City Of York Stakes victory and Pivoine’s £125,000 win in the John Smith’s Cup.

But the money has dried up somewhat in subsequent seasons.

Earnings dropped by just shy of £350,000 from 2023 to 2024 despite the number of winners jumping from 27 to 29.

And though there is much of the Flat season still to go, King Power have had a 12 per cent strike rate this year – matching their lowest ever – with 13 winners at the time of writing.

That adds up to earnings of £417,109 – but with plenty still to play for over the coming months and with loads of the King Power horses having lots of entries.

King Power’s flagbearers now look to be Group 2 hero Bellum Justum and The Foxes, both trained by Kingsclere handler Balding.

Bellum Justum landed a monster £830,000 win when he claimed the Nashville Derby in Kentucky last August.

He then won the Group 2 Betfred Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket in May this year – bringing home another £70,000.

While The Foxes’ Group 2 Huxley Stakes win at Chester in May was worth just shy of £75,000.

The money is significant on its own but nothing compared to the situation the King Power company finds itself in.

King Power had a 30-year near-monopoly on duty free concessions in Thailand.

But, while aiming to renegotiate contracts at four of the country’s major airports, want all rental fees to be waived.

That is expected to lead to losses of £450m-plus for the state-run Airports of Thailand, which rejected the opening offer from King Power.

Top’s replacement Nitinai Sirismatthakarn said: “It’s like a patient surviving on oxygen.

“The company’s intention was to ask AOT to remove the oxygen because we can’t cope anymore. This was the signal we sent.

“We’re in a position where we’re saying we can’t manage, and we’re asking AOT for help.

“We’ll listen. If the conditions allow us to remain profitable, we’ll stay. If not, and we can’t make it work together, we’ll accept that.”

Created by Jan Matheu, Laia Foguet, and Ibai Abad, the show launched on June 20.

It depicts the students at the Pirineos Center of High Performance competing for prestigious sponsorship from Olympo – a global fashion brand.

The cast includes Clara Galle, Nira Oshaia and former Rugby Union player Agustín Della Corte.

Conversely, other fans shared how much they enjoyed the eight-part drama.

One remarked: “Started Olympo on Netflix and omg I think this’s gonna be my new obsession.”

Another commented: “You better renew this I didn’t waste my time for a cancellation.”

A third simply stated: “WE WANT SEASON TWO.”

‘The Show Is In English For You To Watch. Can’t Wait To Watch Season 2!”

Forget the war, what about my glam holiday! Brit influencers complain after Iran-Israel crisis sparks travel chaos

FUMING influencers have raged at the spiralling Middle East conflict which has sparked aviation chaos – delaying and diverting hundreds of flights.

Social media users even vented their frustration towards airports and airliners – despite the whole situation kicking off with Iran’s blitz on a US base in Qatar.

It comes after the mullahs launched retaliatory strikes at Al Udeid US military base in Doha, in response to Donald Trump’s Operation Midnight Hammer.

The resulting airspace closure meant that thousands of travellers were left stranded in the capital, while many others had connecting flights disrupted and some even had their planes diverted mid-air.

Doha’s Hamad International Airport stayed shut down for eight hours from Monday evening, prompting airlines to quickly cancel flights.

It reopened in the early hours of Tuesday – but with international routes already interrupted the disruption is taking its time to resolve.

Beth Hassan, a running and lifetyle influencer, detailed how her flight to Doha from Sydney had been cancelled early on Tuesday.

She said: “I’m so stressed – there’s been no information given.

“I’ve tried to contact the airline but can’t get through on the phone or email so don’t know what to do.”

She said that she would be going to the airport to figure out how she could speak to someone and get to Doha.

The Brit traveller said: “I’m really stressed, somebody help!”

Another user named Codalley described his experience stuck in Doha’s airport while laying on the floor with his belongings due to the US attacks.

He said: “Stuck in Doha airport, 34km away from the airbase that was just bombed.

“Airspace and airport shut down.”

Another Brit with the username Clodagh7 said that she had been unable to leave Brisbane.

She said: “Apparently Doha airport is just chockablock, so I’m going back to Brisbane now.”

Meanwhile, other influencers from elsewhere in the world made similar complaints.

Beauty influencer Maddie Wilcox detailed how she woke up on board her flight from India to Doha to the sound of an announcement.

The crew were telling her and fellow passengers that their plane was diverting – with just two hours remaining until they were supposed to reach their destination.

She was told the sudden diversion was due to missiles being fired at Qatar‘s capital.

Missiles being intercepted by air defence systems above Doha

Qatar Airways said on X about the cancelled flights: “Our focus at this time is to help our passengers return home or reach their onward journey safely and smoothly.

“We’ve deployed extra ground staff at Hamad International Airport to support you as we resume operations.”

Flights were diverted to a variety of alternative destinations amid the missile salvos, including Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Dubai World Central, Jeddah Muscat, Medina and Riyadh.

Several planes departing from Heathrow and West Midlands Airport even u-turned mid-air and returned home or were cancelled.

It comes after flights to holiday hotspots were cancelled following Donald Trump‘s bombing raid on Iran.

Loud explosions were heard in Doha while bright flashes could also be seen lighting up the night sky as air defence systems worked to intercept the missiles.

All the Iranian missiles were shot down, and no casualties were reported.

Following the Iranian attack, Trump posted on Truth Social saying he hopes “Iran can now proceed to Peace and Harmony in the Region”.

The president wrote: “Iran has officially responded to our Obliteration of their Nuclear Facilities with a very weak response, which we expected, and have very effectively countered.

“I am pleased to report that NO Americans were harmed, and hardly any damage was done. Most importantly, they’ve gotten it all out of their ‘system’.

“Perhaps Iran can now proceed to Peace and Harmony in the Region, and I will enthusiastically encourage Israel to do the same.”

How dark secret of kebab shop could hold key to missing Georgina Gharsallah who vanished without trace

IT’S been seven years since Georgina Gharsallah suddenly vanished without a trace from a town centre in Sussex.

The 30-year-old had popped into Worthing from her mum’s house to get her phone fixed on March 7, 2018 – and was caught on CCTV entering a shop.

Georgina was last seen in a shop on her way into the town centre[/caption]

That was the last time Georgina was seen alive – and now a new Channel 4 documentary investigating the case suggests her mysterious disappearance could be linked to a gang of Albanian drug dealers.

Georgina, a loving mum to two children, was working at an Albanian-owned Kebab shop called Albion Kebab Shop – which at the time was linked to an investigation into an Albanian gang.

A policeman who infiltrated the group told In the Footsteps of Killers presenters Emilia Fox and Professor David Wilson that violent gangs had a foothold in the city – and it “wouldn’t surprise him” if Georgina had got mixed up in it.

The officer Andy – not his real name – said: “My job for over 15 years was to investigate organised crime. Gangs were starting to take a much stronger foothold in the city.

“This particular Albanian gang was the Dema family. ‘Don’t mess with them’ – that was the reputation. There would be some serious violence. They would do that in a way that wouldn’t draw attention to them.

“It was a focal point for the start of our operation. We would be looking at the front of Albion Kebabs, to understand the people who were working there, who controlled it, to build a picture.”

Asked if he thought Georgina had fallen foul of the gang that owned the shop where she worked, and been disposed of, Andy said: “It wouldn’t surprise me at all.

“I know the levels of work that have gone into that case. And my gut feeling is she’s not coming back. I don’t think we’re going to find any answers.”

Since Georgina went missing her bank cards have never been used, her prescriptions never collected and friends and family haven’t heard from her either.

In August 2019 the case was reclassified as a murder case from a missing person, as there were no signs she was still alive.

Police still haven’t found a body, or even so much as a hair sample.

Georgina’s devastated mum Andrea doesn’t believe there are sufficient grounds to declare her daughter dead.

She said: “We were like, ‘Well how [can they say she’s dead]? You haven’t got any evidence.’ They just say it’s because of the lack of proof of life, but for me that’s not enough.”

Georgina’s family had assumed she was staying with friends or her partner when she didn’t return that day in March 2018.

My gut feeling is she’s not coming back. I don’t think we’re going to find any answers

Police officer

When Georgina’s worried boyfriend Christian Slater rang Andrea asking of her whereabouts, the family raised the alarm.

But Andrea and Georgina’s family were confident she would return.

“We still at Christmas [2018] laid the table for her,” Andrea said. “[I] told everyone to get presents for her, because she comes back [sic].

“I used to think I don’t want the bad answers, and go all my life looking, and have that hope. But I’m at that stage now that I want the answers, even if they’re bad.”

Georgina had become involved with unsavoury characters in the town, according to people who knew her.

She was also alleged to have been hiding drugs in her flat for convicted drug dealer Aldo Aringa, who was in prison at the time of her disappearance.

Shop owner Mick Symes claims he saw her hanging around with Albanian drug dealers, and told the documentary: “The common denominator of people I’ve seen Georgina walking round the town with or talking with or I know, know her, are involved in class A drugs.

“I’m not saying that Georgina was. But certainly the people she went around with were involved in the supply of drugs, and some quite serious and unpleasant situations.

“I believe [her disappearance] is related to the drug supply in Worthing and Brighton. And the people who are involved at the higher end.”

Georgina’s boyfriend Christian also told how she appeared to be struggling and had turned to binge-drinking in an attempt to cope.

He claimed her erratic behaviour had led to their relationship starting to break down.

Shop owner Mick Symes

So when she didn’t answer his calls and texts for a few days, he’d assumed she was ignoring him after a disagreement.

“It was a really good relationship in the beginning – it was after Christmas time that everything just went a bit crazy,” he said.

“She started drinking more, arguments started to occur. When she got upset, she got a bit fiery. I was the same. We were two peas in a pod in that way.”

Christian said Georgina would walk out during arguments and visit her “Albanian friends”.

“Everyone knew Georgina, she knew a lot of people in Brighton,” he said.

“When we used to have an argument, she’d go down and see her Albanian friends.

“She’d stay with her Albanian friends at the Royal Albion Hotel, that was where she’d go down and see them.

“The kebab shop she used to work in was the Albion Kebab shop.”

It wasn’t just family and police who reached a dead end trying to find out what happened to Georgina.

Even local journalists looking into her disappearance were stonewalled.

Steve, a freelance journalist, said: “What we ran into very quickly was almost a wall of silence at the time.

“A lot of it was fear – a lot of her friends were too scared to come forward.

“There was talk that Georgina had become involved with people who may have been dangerous.”

He added: “We found at times Georgina was a troubled soul, but what was clear was that she had a lot of family support around her.”

Former police officer Andy reckons the silence is for a reason – because the gangs don’t want to be caught.

He told the documentary: “There would be some serious violence [if you crossed the Albanian gang]. They would do that in a way that doesn’t draw attention to them.

“Many years ago there was a shooting in Hove not far from where we are sat. That brought a lot of heat on the Albanian community at that time.

“I think from that moment on, they realised that by doing that, you’re bringing yourself into that headlights [so they’re more discreet].”

Presenter Professor Wilson said: “It’s almost like she’s swallowed up by the darkness… of organised crime.”

In the Footsteps of Killers airs tonight at 10pm on Channel 4.
