‘That’s where I’m headed next’ – Conor McGregor appears to confirm UFC return in shock card at the White House

CONOR McGREGOR has appeared to confirm he will make a UFC comeback – and wants to return by fighting at the White House.

The volatile Irishman has not been in the octagon since July 2021 – when he brutally broke his leg against Dustin Poirier.

Conor McGregor appeared to confirm he will make a UFC comeback

A toe injury in last June also forced McGregor out of his proposed comeback bout against Michael Chandler in Las Vegas.

Further controversies outside of the cage have also kept the former UFC champion out of action with his fighting future in doubt.

But after US President Donald Trump announced plans to host a UFC event on White House grounds – McGregor threw his name in the hat.

And adding further fuel to the fire, he said at a Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship event: “It’s looking like I’m headed to the Oval Office again.

“So that’s where I’m headed next. But I’ll let these men fight for this one and I’ll support them and back them all the way.”

McGregor, his fiancee Dee Devlin and their four children visited Trump and the White House in March on  St Patrick’s Day.

There, he announced his own plans to run for Irish presidency.

But the visit came just four months after McGregor was found liable for assault in a civil case against him dating back to 2018.

The court heard how the professional fighter was said to have “brutally raped and battered” Nikita Hand in a penthouse at the Beacon Hotel.

McGregor – who was ordered to pay Ms Hand about £206,000 in damages and pay her legal costs – has since sought an appeal.

He was initially expected to include new evidence – but the Court of Appeal in Dublin heard that McGregor would no longer be relying on additional evidence.

McGregor also punched a man in an Ibiza nightclub in June – with The Sun capturing the shocking moment.

But the man – who works for Wayne Lineker – did not press charges.

McGregor still has two fights left on his contract but even UFC boss Dana White cast doubt over a return.

That was until Trump’s teased an event at the White House.

White later told YouTube group Nelk Boys: “McGregor has gotten himself to a point where he is and will be, whether he stops fighting or not, one of the biggest superstars in sports, period.

“He’s gotten to a level of success in his life where he has to, I think, be motivated by something.

“He’s accomplished everything and especially financially. Now he’s got to find something that truly motivates him to want to come back and do this again. I don’t know if the White House is it, but we’ll see.”

Trump told a crowd in Iowa: “Does anybody watch UFC? The great Dana White? We’re going to have a UFC fight.

“We’re going to have a UFC fight – think of this – on the grounds of the White House. We have a lot of land there.”

Throughout her astonishing amateur career, Katie became a five-time world champion.

She also won gold at London 2012 — the first time women’s boxing was included in an Olympic Games.

On November 26, 2016, Katie made her professional debut against Karina Szmalenberg (née Kopinska) at Wembley Arena, London.

The fight ended in a technical knockout victory for the Irish fighter in just 58 seconds of the first round.

Katie showcased her Olympic pedigree, overwhelming her opponent with a flurry of punches that forced the referee to stop the contest.

The quick victory highlighted her power and skill, immediately establishing her as a force to be reckoned with in the professional ranks.

In her second professional bout December 10, 2016, Katie faced Viviane Obenauf at the Manchester Arena.

Katie won by points decision after six rounds, with the referee scoring the fight 60-53 in her favour

She controlled the pace and outclassed her Brazilian opponent, knocking Obenauf down in the second round.

Following these early victories, Katie quickly rose through the ranks, winning her first world title in October 2017, when she claimed the WBA lightweight belt by dominating Anahi Sanchez.

In April 2018, she added the IBF title to her collection, unifying the division with a powerful unanimous decision victory over Victoria Bustos.

Katie’s career reached new heights in 2019 when she defeated Delfine Persoon at Madison Square Garden to become the undisputed lightweight champion, holding all four major world titles (IBF, WBA, WBC, and WBO) simultaneously.

This achievement made her only the eighth boxer in history — male or female — to hold all four major titles concurrently.

In 2022, Katie defended her undisputed lightweight title in a historic fight against Amanda Serrano at Madison Square Garden.

She won by split decision in what was hailed as the biggest fight in women’s boxing history.

Despite suffering her first professional loss to Chantelle Cameron in May 2023, Katie bounced back six months later, exacting revenge in the rematch to become the undisputed super-lightweight champion.

This victory made her a two-weight undisputed champion, further solidifying her legacy as one of the greatest boxers of her generation.

Throughout her glittering career, Katie has been credited with raising the profile of women’s boxing globally and inspiring a new generation of female boxers.

James Bye – who was killed off in the BBC soap’s live 40th anniversary episode early this year – shares four kids with wife Victoria.

The family recently revealed they are living in caravan after selling their “forever home”.

Victoria has now issued a warning about garden plants, and the ones you may not know are poisonous.

It came after she had to rush her youngest to A&E after ate a harmful plant by mistake and was left “screaming” in pain.

The concerned mum-of-four wrote: “So. More of a public service announcement than a post really but as we all know, life with kids is anything but predictable..

“So, after spending the night in hospital (I swear they’ll start charging us rent soon) after Rufus decided to snack on a plant in the garden — one I didn’t even know was dangerous. All hell let loose.

“Within minutes his tongue had started to swell, he was screaming & we had to call 999. (As always – NHS heroes, honestly.)

“Thankfully he’s absolutely fine now 🙏🏼 but it turned out the culprit was Italian Arum, a really common plant with bright orange berries that looks innocent but is seriously toxic if ingested.”

Ending her lengthy post, she said: “I mean, I had no idea.

“And once I started looking into it… turns out there are loads of plants like that quietly minding their own (deadly) business in UK gardens.”

CARAVAN LIFE

Just last month, Victoria revealed how the family had moved into a caravan after they sold their “forever home” .

The couple and their four children and two blind dogs upticks to living in a field after their home was bought.

Victoria wrote on Instagram on June 2: “It’s official …because we’ve only gone and sold our ‘forever home’.

“And not only that. We’ve done it so that we can move into a field – and into a caravan…

“Yes, you read that right. A tin box on wheels with barely enough room to swing a cat let alone four kids + two blind dogs. S**t.

“Now, you may wonder what in the hell we’re doing (I know we do, both still I denial I think!)”

Victoria revealed they moved into a caravan, as they build their own house.

Victoria revealed: “A dream we’ve long since had and just never had the time … or the belief that we could.

“And yet somehow, when it feels like we’ve got more than ever on our plate, we thought. Sod it. It’s now or never. This is our year for change. And so we are.”

She ended the lengthy message with: “So stick around for the journey you lovely lot – and please – any advice send our way.

“Because in truth. We haven’t got a bloody clue what we’re doing.”

Savvy mum shares ‘summer hack you never knew you needed’ – it’ll stop bugs invading paddling pools & costs about a QUID

A SAVVY mum has shared a super simple hack that will ensure your paddling pool stays clean this summer.

So if you’re fed up with waking up every morning to see dead bugs and leaves in your child’s paddling pool, then you’ve come to the right place and will need to take notes.

So you can wave goodbye to fishing out bugs and brunches this season – and it’ll cost you less than £2

A content creator who posts online under the username ‘Team Brookes’, revealed the cheap homeware buy that will stop unwanted pests and debris falling into your pool.

You will most likely already have it at home, but if you don’t, those strapped for cash can breathe a sigh of relief – as it’ll cost you as little as £1.40.

Posting on social media, the mother who is from Dudley, revealed why a fitted sheet will be the answer to your paddling pool prayers this summer.

Rather than spending ages fishing out branches and flies from her paddling pool, this mum covers her garden buy with a fitted sheet, which stops the pests from entering.

Demonstrating her quick and effective trick, which takes a matter of seconds, she said: “The summer hack you never knew you needed – if your pool doesn’t have a pool cover, you can actually use a fitted bed sheet to cover the pool.

“It will stop all the debris and all the bugs getting into your water.”

With this idea, all you’ll need to do is cover the top of your paddling pool with a large fitted sheet at the end of the day.

Then, when you next go to get into the paddling pool, debris and bugs will simply be collected on top of the sheet, making it much easier and faster for kids to get stuck into the summer fun.

If you haven’t got a spare fitted sheet at home, you’re sure to be pleased to know that you can find plenty of different options from a variety of high street shops, but there’s loads to choose from on Shein for as little as £1.40.

Thrilled with her purse-friendly trick, she then added: “Much needed to keep the pool fresh this summer, especially with all the flying ants at the moment.”

Parents beam

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @teambrookes, has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly racked up 385,500 views, 1,925 likes and 58 comments.

Parents were thankful for the simple hack and many eagerly flocked to the comments to express this.

How to survive six weeks of school summer holidays

IF you are struggling with the six week summer holidays, you've come to the right place...

BATTLING BOREDOM: Despite hours of activities and playdates, if your kids are already complaining there’s nothing to do, parenting expert Liat Hughes Joshi says: “Don’t feel you have to organise every second of the holidays. Kids benefit from boredom and learn to make their own fun.

“Boredom can trigger creative and imaginative play but you need to encourage kids to get used to not being told how to spend their time.

“Ride out the pleas of boredom. Counter it with comments such as, ‘What do you think you could do?’ and maybe have a list of ‘I’m bored’ activity ideas on the fridge.”

SCREEN OVERLOAD: It’s tempting during the holidays to rely on a digital babysitter but don’t let them gawp their whole summer away in front of a screen.

Liat says: “It’s unfair to expect older kids to power down but it’s important to set some ground rules.

“Set family tech rules together. If you’re often distracted by your phone, follow the rules too. Maybe tell the kids they aren’t allowed any screen time until they’ve done set chores, some exercise, or a board game.

“Are there times when you’d like to ban screens completely? Perhaps during dinner or when they have friends over to visit.

“Tech is a battleground for parents, but you have to set boundaries. Stand firm and be prepared to be unpopular.”

TOO MUCH TOGETHERNESS: You love your kids, but being with them 24/7 can be exhausting. Do not feel guilty if you need a bit of downtime.

Liat says: “If you’re juggling work and household tasks as well as occupying the kids, it’s normal to start feeling overwhelmed or jaded and in need of some peace.

“If you can’t afford or don’t want to send your kids to all-day camps, look for free kids’ workshops so you can get on with jobs or have a break for a couple of hours.

“Seeking a spell of quiet every now and then doesn’t make you a bad parent — in fact it will probably make you more positive and enthusiastic when you are with the kids.”

SCHEDULING CONFLICT: Schedules can go out the window during holidays, but late nights and early mornings can mean tired and unhappy children.

Dr Tamara Bugembe, paediatrician and founder of Helperbees.co.uk says: “Children get grumpy, test boundaries and become challenging when routines are broken.

“Sticking to some kind of routine during the holidays is a good idea.

“We release hormones at different times of the day and when regular meal times and bed times are broken, it causes dips and peaks in mood.

“Holidays are about having fun but an early night once or twice a week will make everyone happier.”

EXCESS ENERGY: Make sure kids get out in the fresh air to tire them out — and make them healthier and happier.

Dr Bugembe says: “Sunshine also tops up vital vitamin D levels which helps improve bone strength and energy levels in children. Our levels run low in winter so let the kids stock up in warmer weather.

“Letting them run around in shorts and a T-shirt is the best way to top up. Make sure they’re wearing sun cream, get outside and have fun.

“Encourage them to try healthy habits such as cycling and walking. They’ll hopefully get hooked and want to carry them on when the weather gets colder.”

A third described the hack as “brilliant,” whilst another parent chimed in and commented: “Great idea, thanks I will be doing this.”

Meanwhile, someone else advised: “Use a dark coloured sheet and the water warms up a little.”

To this, the mother replied and wrote: “Love love love! Will try this!”
