Tragic final moments revealed after mum-of-four fell to her death with instructor in tandem skydive

THE tragic final moments of a mum-of-four who died in a skydive with her instructor have been revealed at an inquest today.

Belinda Taylor was taking part in the tandem jump with Adam Harrison when the horror took place.

Her instructor also died in the horror

The 48-year-old’s partner, who watched the tragedy unfold, had bought the skydive as a gift for “adrenaline junkie” Belinda.

An inquest opening heard today how both Belinda and Adam, 30, suffered multiple injuries.

Their bodies were discovered in a field near the Dunkeswell airfield in Devon on June 13.

Senior Devon coroner Philip Spinney said the pair had exited the aircraft for the 1,500ft freefall jump strapped together.

He added: “The parachute did not open as expected and they died as a consequence of the injuries sustained in the fall.”

The coroner adjourned the inquest until a later date while inquiries continue.

It was previously revealed that other skydivers had seen Belinda “full of smiles and jokes” before the tragedy.

Her son Elias, 20, said his mum had mentioned the jump was taking place on Friday the 13th in a “jokey way”.

While partner Scott Armstrong revealed she had been “absolutely buzzing” about the jump.

Paying tribute, he added: “She was a lovely person, she was my best friend. She was an absolute nutcase who just loved adventures.”

Belinda, from nearby Totnes, had three adult sons and a teenage daughter and was also a grandmother of two.

A probe by police, British Skydiving and East Devon District Council Environmental Health and Safety Office is ongoing.

The Civil Aviation Authority said it was aware of the incident but could not comment any further due to it being an active investigation.

‘Very, very annoyed’ Kevin Doherty responds to spat with ‘ungrateful’ Drogheda United fan after Cork City draw

KEVIN Doherty slammed an “alleged” Drogheda fan after his side dropped two points away to Cork City on Monday night.

Footage of a post-match spat between Doherty and an individual in the Drogs end of Turner’s Cross emerged after full-time on social media.

23 June 2025; Drogheda United manager Kevin Doherty before the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division match between Cork City and Drogheda United at Turner's Cross in Cork. Photo by Thomas Flinkow/Sportsfile
Doherty has been heavily linked with the Shelbourne job since Damien Duff’s departure

And Doherty explained it began as he sought to defend his players after Djenairo Daniels’ 96th-minute leveller cancelled out Shane Farrell’s opener.

The flashpoint came just a week after the FAI Cup holders were expelled from the Conference League due to issues surrounding multi-club ownership rules.

Doherty said: “I had to remind someone after the game, and I really am very, very annoyed about it, what we’ve done for this town and this club over the last while.

“What this group has been through is still killing us. We have consistently had the lowest resources in the league.

“It was no one I’ve seen before, but having a go at the lads for possession . . .

“The supporters here have been brilliant and I’m very disappointed to hear that. But again, I shouldn’t be reacting.

“No one probably even saw them bringing it up and now everyone knows about it.

“All I want to do is defend my players because we’ve been on our knees, and we’re currently on our knees, and we’re trying to keep fighting.

“To hear someone being so ungrateful, I’ll always defend this group.”

And amid links to his former role as Shelbourne manager in the wake of Damien Duff’s departure, Doherty insisted Drogheda’s game is “all I’ll concentrate on”.

Meanwhile, City’s winless run stretched to ten games as a crowd of just 1,815 turned up to watch.

But their boss Ger Nash has defended the Cork City ownership despite fans chanting “we want our club back”.

City’s newly-appointed chief said: “I understand the fans. I could hear it during the game.

“I can promise the fans that the club has backed me since I’ve come to this club.”

Liverpool ‘join Man Utd and Arsenal in race for Viktor Gyokeres transfer’ as Darwin Nunez ‘tells pal he wants to leave’

LIVERPOOL have reportedly entered the race to sign Viktor Gyokeres this summer amid rumours of a Darwin Nunez exit.

Gyokeres, 27, has been linked with a move Arsenal and Manchester United this season after scoring an astonishing 54 goals across all competitions last term.

Darwin Nunez appears set for a Liverpool exit this summer[/caption]

The striker is thought to have told current outfit Sporting Lisbon that he wants to leave during the summer window, but is yet to have made any significant steps towards an exit.

That has opened the door for Liverpool to enter the race for his signature, with the Reds said to be interested in Gyokeres as a potential replacement for Darwin Nunez.

According to Portuguese outfit CMJornal, Liverpool have shortlisted Gyokeres as a target with Nunez looking set for a switch to Italian club Napoli.

They claim that Liverpool are interested in a deal, but will not pay the £68m asking price that Sporting are demanding – given their hefty outlay on Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong already.

However, they could boost their transfer war chest with a sale for Nunez, who appears to be ready to call time on his turbulent spell on Merseyside.

Nunez has been linked with a move to Napoli, and has told a pal and former teammate that he is keen on leaving Anfield in the coming weeks.

The forward’s ex-Penarol teammate and Uruguay star Walter Gargano told radio station Kiss Kiss Napoli: “Nunez? The warmth of the Neapolitans would do him a lot of good.

“I spoke to him about a week ago and I hope he really comes to Naples.

“I told him: ‘Go to Naples!’ He and his family will decide what to do with his future.

“He told me: ‘Yes, I’ll come to Naples right away. I’m waiting to close with Naples’.”

Nunez started just eight Premier League games for Liverpool last season, struggling for minutes under Arne Slot and managing just five league goals.

Italian transfer insider Alfredo Pedulla has claimed that Napoli have tabled an offer worth £36.7m for Nunez, but explained that Liverpool are holding out for a package worth £42.7m.

Liverpool signed Nunez from Benfica in 2022 in a deal worth up to £85m.

Saudi Arabian sides and La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have also been linked with a move for Nunez, but a switch to Napoli now seems most likely.

Liverpool will have to put up a fight if they do pursue a deal for Gyokeres as his replacement, with Arsenal and Man Utd both still keen on the Swede.

Arsenal are reportedly still in talks with both Gyokeres and RB Lepizig’s Benjamin Sesko as they try and decide which striker to bring to the Emirates.

While United hold a long-standing interest in Gyokeres, who worked under manager Ruben Amorim at Sporting, but appear focused on completing a deal for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo at the moment.

Woman, 26, sues drunk bosses who threw her into pool as a joke on 5-star company holiday

AN EVENTS manager is suing her drunk bosses who threw her into a pool as a joke while on an expensive company holiday.

Chloe Hewitt was chucked into the swimming pool by the boozed-up salesmen at a luxury hotel on Mauritius.

The 26-year-old wants £250,000, saying she landed on broken drink glasses after she was flung into the pool “in jest”.

She was thrown in by intoxicated “distributors” who had been enjoying a “free bar” at the paradise island event organised by health drinks brand Herbalife to reward high-selling salesmen.

Chloe, from Weybridge, Surrey, emerged from the water bleeding, having cut her foot on the bottom of the pool.

She was left with nerve damage which has required two operations and physiotherapy.

The young woman is now suing the company’s European arm, Uxbridge-based Herbalife Europe Ltd, claiming damages on the basis that it had not done enough to ensure the boozy event was safe.

However, Herbalife is denying liability. It argues that the accident occurred during an “after party” which took place when the company’s event had ended, and when Chloe was no longer on the clock.

Herbalife is a worldwide “direct-selling” company, founded in 1980 to sell weight loss shakes, but expanding to produce other nutritional products, which it sells in over 90 countries.

Chloe began working for the company in June 2020, taking a job in regional promotions for Europe and Africa, which required her sometimes to attend events outside of the UK.

As part of her role, she was sent to Mauritius’ five-Star Paradise Hotel for a training and team-building event, to which Herbalife distributors who had achieved qualifying high sales were invited.

The hotel is part of the Beachcomber Resort, on the island’s Le Morne peninsula.

It features an 18-hole golf course, bars, swimming pools, and where every room faces towards the sea.

Her accident happened at the event’s “farewell party” which took place on June 4, 2022, including dinner, a DJ and a free bar.

Her lawyers say the company is responsible for her injury because it did not do enough to ensure she was safe[/caption]

Her barrister, Matthew Chapman KC, said in documents recently filed at the High Court: “At around midnight on 4 June 2022, the DJ continued to play music and the free bar continued to serve drinks.

“The dance floor was located next to the resort swimming pool. Drinks were provided in glasses, rather than plastic containers, and there was broken glass on and around the dance floor.

“Some of the party-goers were exhibiting obvious signs of intoxication. There were no security staff on duty.

“After midnight, the claimant observed a French employee of the defendant being picked up and carried by male party-goers who appeared to be drunk.

“Despite his protestations to be put down, the party-goers threw the member of staff into the resort swimming pool.

“Other members of the defendant’s employed staff were then pushed or thrown into the swimming pool. Suddenly, the claimant was pushed from behind into the swimming pool. She was fully-dressed and was wearing make-up at the time.

“The claimant protested and, as she exited the swimming pool, asked not to be pushed again. She could hear people remonstrating with the responsible party-goers and asking them to calm down.

“The claimant was then pushed forcefully and unexpectedly from behind and back into the swimming pool.

“The claimant was completely submerged under the water and the force of her entry carried her to the base of the swimming pool where she caught her foot on an object lying there and felt an immediate, sharp pain.

Inside Herbalife – the ‘it’ brand pedalled by Towie stars and footballers that’s said to be linked to hepatitis and liver damage

By Kathryn Knight

LOOKING at pictures of Towie star Danielle Armstrong, it’s clear to see that she is in great shape.

Earlier this year she debuted her new figure in a series of posts to her 1 million Instagram followers, declaring that following her 21lb weight loss she had “never felt so body confident”.

She claimed it was down to Herbalife, a nutrition brand that sells supplements, meal-replacement shakes made from soy and dairy proteins, energy bars, multivitamins and minerals tablets.

Danielle was so impressed, she recommended Herbalife to fellow Towie star Ferne McCann, who said that the meal-replacement shakes had helped keep her in shape during her pregnancy – and she in turn has encouraged her followers to sign up as a member of the company’s worldwide club.

And Towie stars aren’t the only ones giving Herbalife a publicity boost in recent months.

Model Emma McVey credited them with helping her shed her baby weight within 10 days of giving birth to baby son Chester in January, and last month Kerry Katona claimed that she had lost three stone by drinking Herbalife shakes for breakfast and lunch.

Ronaldo has also endorsed it, and while he was playing for LA Galaxy, David Beckham wore a shirt sponsored by the brand.

Yet behind this glossy façade troubling questions have been asked about the multi-billion pound company.

It’s been accused of being nothing less than a pyramid scheme – a model in which members are paid for recruiting others rather than selling products – propped up by some of the high profile names they get to endorse their products.

Not only that: others have claimed that Herbalife might even cause long term problems – over the years the company’s products have been linked to lead poisoning, liver damage, and hepatitis.

A spokesperson for Herbalife said: “All our independent Herbalife Nutrition Members are independent business people and not employees of Herbalife Nutrition or paid ambassadors.

“Every day millions of consumers safely use our products around the world and no known hepatotoxins have ever been found in our products.”

“The claimant had caught her foot on broken glass debris which was on the bottom of the swimming pool, having found its way there from glasses containing drinks served at the farewell party.”

Chloe was treated at a local hospital and again back in England to repair a nerve in her foot, but Mr Chapman says she has been left with “significant pain and stiffness, loss of sensation and loss of movement” in her right foot, which is likely to be permanent.

Suing Herbalife, her lawyers say it is responsible for her injury because it did not do enough to ensure she was safe, having allowed its partygoing distributors to carry glasses onto the dancefloor and close to the swimming pool, and also having allowed free drinks to be served to “clearly intoxicated” partygoers.

“The claimant will say that accidents of this kind do not usually occur without negligence in the conduct of the relevant operation,” says her barrister.

In its written defence to the action, Herbalife denies responsibility for anything its distributors did, pointing out that “Herbalife members” are people who run independent businesses selling its products, while Chloe was off the clock by the time of the accident anyway.

The free bar element of the party had only lasted an hour, says its barrister Rory Holmes, while the entire Herbalife event was finished at midnight, after which Chloe was no longer working.

“At midnight, there was an announcement on stage for the purpose of the distributors that the event had finished and the Paradis bar was staying open where drinks could be purchased from the hotel at the expense of the distributors,” he said.

“Once the farewell party ended, the claimant’s time was her own. She was no longer on duty.

“The claimant was naturally free to spend her personal time however she wanted – she could have gone to bed, she could have gone for a walk in the hotel grounds, she could have chosen to be on her own, she could have chosen to socialise with whomever she wished.”

Instead she had chosen to congregate with the distributors by the pool, with the event DJ agreeing to move his equipment and begin a new set there.

“At some point shortly before the claimant’s accident, some of the French distributors decided to push or throw other members of the group, including some of the defendant’s staff members, into the pool.

“This was intended to be in jest, however one of the defendant’s members of staff asked the relevant distributors to calm down.

“The claimant was sitting at high tables to the side of the bar area with other members of staff. She was pushed/thrown into the pool on at least one occasion.

“As the claimant exited the pool, having been thrown in, it was noted that she had a laceration to her foot.

“It is not admitted that the claimant cut her foot on broken glass debris which was on the bottom of the swimming pool, having found it way there from glasses containing drinks at farewell party.”

He said Chloe had said at the time that thought she had cut herself not on broken glass, but on a rounded light, possibly an uplighter which had fallen into the pool.

“The defendant does not condone the actions of the distributors who threw members of the group into the pool,” he added.

“The defendant asked the distributors to calm down, which was a reasonable and proportionate response given what was known at the time.”

“The defendant was entitled to rely, and did rely, upon a reasonably held belief that, at a luxury five-star hotel with a good record, the hotel’s premises/systems would be reasonably safe.

“For the avoidance of doubt, it is not the defendant’s case that the hotel’s premises, systems etc were unsafe.”

Chloe’s claim was recently filed at the High Court, but the case has not yet gone before a judge. It will now go forward to a full trial, unless settled by the parties outside of court.

‘I didn’t know if I’d be here’ says Jamie Theakston in heartbreaking confession after cancer battle

JAMIE Theakston has made a heartbreaking confession following his tough cancer battle.

The Heart FM star admitted he did not know “if he’d be here” to accept an award on stage at last night’s prestigious TRIC Awards.

He faced a gruelling cancer battle last year[/caption]

Jamie shocked his listeners last year when he confirmed in September that he had been diagnosed with Stage 1 laryngeal cancer.

The 54-year-old star was prompted to have a check-up at his doctors after some of his listeners raised concerns for a change in his voice.

In good news, Jamie was declared cancer-free in January but last night he admitted his fears of if he would ever get better.

Having won the award for Best Radio Show for his programme with Amanda Holden, Jamie took to the stage to accept the gong in which he addressed his cancer battle.

Speaking to the crowd, he said: “There have been times in the past 12 months where I haven’t known where I was gonna be, never mind on this stage, so I really appreciate it.”

He then thanked his co-host Amanda and their daily showbiz reporter, Ashley Roberts, before he made a joke looking to the future.

Jamie laughed: “We last won this 10 years ago so I’ll see you in 10 years.”

The star took a break from hosting duties during his cancer battle last year.

The star’s initial procedure, performed privately at the Princess Grace Hospital in London, successfully removed his lesion.

However, biopsies could not confirm with complete certainty that all cancer cells had been eliminated.

While he is free from the disease now, with odds of it returning “very low”, he is still under instruction to see his surgeon every month.

In a new interview with The Times, Jamie spoke of his “scanxiety”, explaining the intervals between appointments will lengthen to three and then six months after a year.

He said: “I was given the option of radiotherapy, but we decided that surgery was a better option. I had to go back for a second operation and have more tissue removed. That reset my recovery right back to the beginning.

“I was frustrated because I just wanted to get back to work. I remember reading an interview Amanda [Holden] had given saying, ‘We hope to have him back by Christmas.’ I had thought, way before Christmas! So the second operation put us back a bit.

“And then we found that during the healing process, some scar tissue was touching the other vocal cord. So I had to go back and have a third surgery.

“We were happy that the cancer was clear but to allow my voice to operate, they had to remove the scar tissue, which unfortunately had formed in a place where we didn’t want it forming.”

Ireland ace Hayley Nolan shares her unusual summer holiday in preparation for USA clash

HAYLEY Nolan is on the comeback trail with Ireland after spending her summer getting the steps in.

While team-mates headed on sun holidays following the conclusion of their club seasons, Nolan put on her hiking boots.

Nolan is ready to receive her first cap in two years

She was in Galicia in northern Spain with family walking the Camino — a popular pilgrimage trek to Santiago de Compostela.

Ahead of Friday morning’s friendly meeting with the USA, Crystal Palace defender Nolan said: “I’ve had four weeks and then I will have a week or ten days before pre-season. I wasn’t in Ibiza! That wasn’t me!

“We had a family holiday on the Camino. We did about 20km a day, my family did the entire walk. I only did half of it. It was just to spend time together as a family.

“I’m the youngest and it’s difficult because we all have different jobs and as a footballer I don’t get that much time off.

“So we just said we would take this opportunity to get away as a family and do something different.

“I absolutely loved it. I’ve two older sisters and it was the first time in a long time to spend a good period together with them. I really enjoyed it.

“There was no bickering! If we were tired, I think we decided to go to bed in case there might have been a falling-out! Ah no, it was good craic.

“I’ve never done anything like it, normally it is just the beach or pool and you don’t get to spend real time together. Whereas you have no choice when you’re walking.”

It also meant plenty of extra aerobic work ahead of what will likely be her first Ireland appearance in two years tomorrow night in Denver.

The 28-year-old Kildare woman won the last of her three caps against the USA in 2023 when Vera Pauw’s squad was preparing for the World Cup that summer.

But while part of the provisional panel, she did not make it on the plane to Australia and was only included in one squad since.

That hurt given she was an ever-present at Palace two seasons ago when the club won promotion to the WSL. But she has earned a recall under Carla Ward.

Nolan added: “During that time I was disappointed not to be called in but I think, as a football player, you just have to put your head down and do what you can do at club level.

“I am really proud of that season and for us as a club.

“But I am just looking to the future now and I am really excited to be back involved with the girls and really looking forward to showcasing what I can do. I really want to help the team.

“I did think that when I got the call that one of my last caps was against the USA and that feels like a full-circle moment. I am really looking forward to it, really excited to be back in.

“I have had a few conversations with Carla, but I have been injured and it is hard to put yourself up for selection when you are not fit and healthy.

“I played the last six games of the WSL season and performed well and it has merited this call-up and me getting in.”

You can make school cake in the air fryer with 6 ingredients – it’s ready in minutes & perfect for an after-school snack

DID you used to love the iconic school cake with sprinkles that was served growing up?

Now you can bring the nostalgic treat back with your air fryer and six simple ingredients you may already have in your cupboard.

Put it in your air fryer for around 30 minutes at 150C[/caption]

Iceland shared a clip showing how easy it is to recreate the tasty sponge cake in a few minutes.

All you need to do is add 200g softened butter to 200g caster sugar and whisk it together.

Next you need to add four large eggs and 200g self-raising flour.

Once everything is mixed and combined, it should have the consistency of being able to drop off a spoon.

There is also an option to add three tbsp of milk and a few drops of vanilla extract at this stage too.

Then you can transfer the batter to a greased oven dish.

If you have an air fryer, you should pop the dish in for 30-35 min at 150C – but if you are doing it in a normal oven it should be at 170C.

Once it is baked and cooled, you can add melted icing sugar to the top and then sprinkles and voila – you are good to tuck in.

With the summer holidays looming, it could be the perfect treat to make for kids and keep them occupied.

Or why not make it just for you as a delicious throwback.

Many people were quick to comment on the video, with one saying: “Omg this looks insane.”

A second wrote: “Ima try this.”

And a third said: “Omg need to try this.”

LIDL’S OFFERING

Last month, Lidl started selling School Cake in its supermarkets.

The tray bake had a vanilla-flavoured sponge and was topped with buttercream and rainbow sprinkles.

Shoppers shared their delight at the new find on the Facebook group Snack Reviews.

One person said they “need to try these” while another wrote: “Shut the front door.”

Sadly, the 59p slice was only in Lidl stores across the country until June 11.

Rise of the air fryer

Air fryers have maintained their spot as the most popular kitchen gadget in the UK last year.

Annual sales figures from Lakeland show sales of air fryers were up 1,175% on last year – when they were already soaring in popularity – as households continue their efforts to save energy on standard ovens.

The retailer said: “In previous years, their popularity could be attributed to consumers seeking healthier cooking options and fast cooking times.

“However, with the cost-of-living crisis continuing, air fryers have a renewed appeal as an efficient alternative to oven cooking.”

The only other products that “shaped the year” were heated airers – with sales up 51% – and heated textiles, such as heated throws and ponchos, Lakeland said, as households bought gadgets as an alternative to expensive dryers and central and electric heaters.

In a picture slideshow on TikTok, she shared a snap of herself pregnant, and wrote over the top: “Told them I had four children in just over a year.”

“They said there’s no way that could happen,” Shauna added in the next bump pic.

She then shared pictures of the two sets of twins she had 13 months apart – Frankie and Fenton in 2021 and Louie and Luca in 2022.

And referring to just how much they all look alike, Shauna said it was a “literal copy and paste”.

People were quick to comment on the snaps, with one writing: “Omg the odds on this are just crazy!”

“Wowwww you’re so blessed but Jesus I take my hat off to you,” another sighed.

“I’m on my 4th now – he was prem just got him home and it’s brutal.

“My other 3 girls are 7,13,14 so not like I have 4 babies lol.”

“Iv’e got twins (they are 3 now) I would love another but I’m scared of having twins again,” a third wrote, adding: “What it’s like having 2 sets girl?”

“I do it alone – so hard, but not always hard,” Shauna replied.

“How of earth did you come up with 4 boys names you liked?” someone else wondered.

To which Shauna responded: “It was a TASK!!!

“I used all my preferred names in my first twins’ first and middle names.

“I wasn’t planning on anymore so my second set was chosen by my mum!”

“Oh God I can’t imagine your pregnancy scares. I’d be spiralling!!!” another admitted.

“Buttt how amazing is this tho!”

What are the different types of twins?

TWINS are when two children are produced in the same pregnancy.

They can be identical or different, and two boys, two girls, or a girl and a boy.

Twins are quite rare, but are usually born completely healthy

What are the different types of twins?

Monozygotic – identical twins (‘one cell’ twins)

Dizygotic – also known as ‘fraternal’, non identical twins. Babies are no more alike than siblings born at separate times, and they can be the same or different sexes

Conjoined twins – identical twins that are joined together. They are extremely rare, and it’s estimated they range from one in 49,000 to 189,000 births, although around half are stillborn, and one third die within 24 hours.

Can identical twins be two different sexes?
Identical twins are always of the same sex because they form from the same fertilised egg that contains either female or male chromosomes.

The single egg is divided into two separate embryos, and they occur in about three in every 1000 deliveries worldwide.

Therefore, boy/girl twins are always fraternal (or dizygotic), as their chromosomes are either XY (male) or XX (female).

What are Di Di twins?
Di Di stands for Dichronic Diamniotic, and they are the common type of twins.

They have their own amniotic sacs and placenta, so are just sharing the womb of the mother, and are therefore not identical.

There are few complications with Di Di twins, so have a good chance of being born completely healthy without intervention from your doctor.

Di di twins are more likely to be non-identical than identical.
