A TUBE passenger who killed a “gentle and kind” commuter with a single punch has been jailed for eight years.
Rakeem Miles, 23, callously attacked Samuel Winter, 28, after he accidentally bumped into him on an escalator at Southwark underground station.

UnpixsSamuel Winter, 28, was rushed to hospital with a critical brain injury, where he died two days later[/caption]
The tragedy, on August 22, was sparked at around 9.30pm when both men were travelling eastbound on the Jubilee line.
In a completely unprovoked assault, Miles followed Samuel through the barriers, grabbed him and ripped his top.
The 23-year-old then knocked the AI engineer to the floor with one punch to the head.
He cowardly ran from the scene, leaving Samuel collapsed on the stairs, before emergency services arrived.
Paramedics performed CPR and rushed the young man to hospital, where he was treated for a critical brain injury.
He died two days later, surrounded by his family.
British Transport Police officers located Miles by tracking his Oyster card and detained him at a shop near the station a day after the attack.
Cops said Miles had given no thought to Samuel after the beating, “continuing on with his evening” as if nothing had happened.
Miles, of East Street, Southwark, showed “no remorse” when he appeared at Inner London Crown Court.
He denied but was convicted of manslaughter and Judge Benedict Kelleher sentenced him to eight years behind bars.
Miles will also be subject to an extended licence period of five years.
But the killer will be eligible for parole in less than five and a half years.
In a heartbreaking tribute, the victim’s family said: “Sam was a very much-loved son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew and friend.
“We are devastated his life here has ended. He was a qualified physiotherapist, AI engineer and a volunteer with several charities.
“His family and friends will remember him as gentle and kind, quick-witted and funny, with deep faith and an unendingly giving spirit.”
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Paul Attwell added: “Though nothing can bring Samuel back, I hope today’s sentencing allows his family some small measure of comfort as they continue to grieve for him.
“Samuel’s family described him as gentle and kind, and he will be sorely missed by all those who love him.
“We reiterate our requests to give the family privacy at such a difficult time.
“It only took one punch from Miles to end Samuel’s life and forever change the lives of those around him.
“He showed no remorse for his action, leaving Samuel at the station and continuing on with his evening.
“The quick-time and thorough investigation by the teams involved meant Miles was identified and apprehended quickly.
“There is zero tolerance for violence on the railway and I’d like to thank my team for their hard work and determination to secure justice for Samuel’s family.”

BBC Breakfast bosses apologised to Spice Girl Geri Horner over a toe-curling interview with show hosts Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt.
The singer was left shocked by the sofa clash, in which Naga asked: “Do you not like being interviewed?”

Pals said BBC production staff apologised to Geri for ‘Naga being a cow to her’
After her appearance, Geri, 52, allegedly said she did not want to appear on the show opposite the pair ever again.
A source said: “Everyone noticed the interview was becoming quite awkward and then when Geri referenced Naga’s life directly things got really frosty.
“Geri isn’t used to that kind of approach and felt ambushed, it unnerved her.
“A few people apologised afterwards for Naga being a cow to her and then Geri made it clear she didn’t want to be interviewed by them again in future.”
Geri was at the BBC to promote her latest novel and was outlining the “rules” behind her drive.
She pointed at Naga and said: “First rule, have courage, take the chance you fear the most, which you did.”
It came days after Naga, now 50, had appeared before MPs to say she was “never taken seriously” by doctors over her uterus condition.
Then, pointing at both Charlie and Naga, Geri went on: “Second rule, united we stand, we need each other.
“Third rule, never give up, be of service, be useful. Fourth rule, if you don’t like these rules, make up your own.”
Naga interrupted, saying: “Do you know what, you’re very interesting as an interviewee, making sure you’ve done your research on us.”
Charlie, 63, added: “You’re pointing your fingers a lot, to be honest.”
The Spice Girl nervously laughed and said: “Is that rude? I’m so sorry.”
Naga asked her, “Do you not like being interviewed?” to which Geri replied, “I like communication”.
Tensions appeared to begin when Naga first asked: “Seven books — did you think you had that in you when you were a Spice Girl?”
Later, she asked: “I read that one of your ambitions is to go to Oxford University to study English and history — do you think that you’d be able to study well?”
The BBC declined to comment.
The apologies emerged as Mr Frediani is on leave while an external consultant from PwC investigates conduct.
Last week, The Sun revealed Naga had been reprimanded over two incidents — including allegations she bullied a female staffer.

A FOODIE has left people’s minds totally blown after sharing the right way to eat Toblerone.
So if you always pick up a Toblerone when you whisk through duty free at the airport, then you’ve come to the right place and will need to listen up and take notes.
AlamyFoodies have been left mind-blown after discovering the right way to snap Toblerones[/caption]
Chris EadesNot only is this trick super simple, but it’s mess-free too[/caption]
TikTok.com/trade_dad/One foodie took to social media to share his hack, which he had newly-discovered[/caption]
TikTok.com/trade_dad/It turns out that the triangles are supposed to be pinched together at the top in order for pieces to snap off easily[/caption]
The popular chocolate bars, which were first created in the Swiss city of Bern in 1908, are known for their iconic triangular peaks and lovely crunch.
And the tasty treat has gone viral numerous times before, with chocolate lovers arguing over the correct way to eat them.
But now, a food fan has shared the best way to break up the much-loved treat – and it’s all about how you snap the triangles.
Posting on social media, a father gave his followers a close-up look at a Toblerone bar and shared: “So apparently this is how you’re supposed to break your Toblerone.”
The short nine-second clip then saw the savvy man demonstrate the newly-discovered hack.
Rather than use his whole hand to break himself off a singular triangle, like many of us do, he instead used his thumb and index finger to pinch the peaks of two triangles together.
Within a matter of seconds, the two pieces separated, with barely any mess, faff or difficulty involved.
Stunned by the simple trick, he then questioned: “Who knew?!”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @trade_dad, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 806,700 views.
Not only this, but it’s also racked up 12,200 likes, 130 comments and 635 saves.
Chocolate fans were stunned by the simple, yet effective hack and many eagerly raced to the comments to express this.
One person said: “I’ve learned more from TikTok than school.”

However, at the same time, others claimed that they were already aware of this hack, as one foodie shared: “I’ve always pushed them like this and thought it was common knowledge.”

Meanwhile, a second chimed in: “Assumed this was standard knowledge.”
Not only this, but foodies were also keen to share how they eat Toblerone, as one woman admitted: “I just shove it in my mouth and risk the roof of my mouth being scraped.”
Whilst someone else confessed: “I just bite it.”

HARVEY ELLIOTT had his own Ollie Watkins moment as he downed the Dutch and fired England to the European Championship final.
He refused to let a wondergoal from Jude Bellingham’s best mate Noah Ohio stop him stealing the headlines to set-up a showdown against either Germany or France.
GettyHarvey Elliott lashed England in front on 62 minutes[/caption]
GettyThe playmaker then angled a left-foot winner in the 85th minute[/caption]
Elliott, 22, broke the deadlock in scorching temperatures at the Narodny Futbalovy Stadion in Bratislava midway through the second half.
Moments later Ohio, with his first touch, stunned the Young Lions with a brilliant first time 40-yard strike.
But Elliott, one of two survivors from the 2023 team that lifted this prize, produced his own magic moment to win it to condemn the Dutch to more semi-final heartbreak 12 months after Watkins did the same at Euro 2024.
Boss Lee Carsley made just one change to the side that sliced through the much-fancied Spain last Saturday in the last round.
Elliot Anderson came back into midfield for the suspended Tyler Morton to partner Alex Scott with James McAtee and Jay Stansfield ahead of them.
Omari Hutchinson and Liverpool playmaker Elliott were the two tasked with providing the ammunition from the flanks.
And the back four of Tino Livramento, Charlie Cresswell, Jarell Quansah and Jack Hinshelwood were the wall protecting goalie James Beadle.
Despite the scorching conditions, it was the Young Lions who pounced first and carved open the Dutch inside three minutes.
Anderson carried the ball and fed Hutchinson out left. He darted into the area and his cross found Elliott at the back post, but Robin Roefs saved with his left leg.

It looked set to be a long afternoon for Dutch full-back Neraysho Kasanwirjo as Hutchinson gave him a torrid time early doors as the England pressure continued.
Roefs saved again to push a fierce Elliott drive wide before he stood up well to deny skipper McAtee after he tried to fool him with a backheel.
Holland had failed to register a shot on target by the cooling break midway through the opening period, but it was them who benefitted most from it.
England, whose players were draped in ice-cold wet towels during the stoppage, appeared to have lost their momentum as the Dutch took control.
But despite all of their possession, they only had a half-hearted penalty appeal from Thom Van Bergen waved away to show for it.
There was a severe lack of tempo, although England did have one more opportunity right at the death, but Scott’s drive was deflected wide as it remained all-square at the break.
Poor Kasanwirjo, who spent last season on loan at Rangers from Feyenoord, made way for Wouter Goes in the only change at the half time after his struggle to contain Hutchinson.
Aston Villa’s Ian Maatsen, who was on the bench in Dortmund last summer for the seniors when Watkins broke Holland hearts at Euro 2024, finally called James Beadle into action with a 25-yard fizzer that was pushed wide.
But before they could build any momentum, England countered to make the breakthrough.
The ‘Geordie Maradona’ Anderson was right at the heart of it.
He charged forward from midfield as the terrified Dutch defence retreated, allowing him to slide it out right to Elliott.
The 22-year-old took a touch and then let out all the frustration from his two first half misses and rifled Roefs from a tight angle.
Hutchinson showed nice feet before hitting the side-netting but moments later he and his team-mates were left stunned.
Cresswell fails to control down the left and the ball goes past him out towards the touchline.
Ohio, who had only been on the pitch three minutes and became pals with Bellingham while representing England U16s, pounced and hit it first time left-footed from 40 yards and caught Beadle out of position as it sailed into the near post.
But Elliott was in no mood to let anybody steal any of his limelight as his nimble-feet left Thom van Bergen for dead on the edge of the area before firing left-footed past Roefs.
Anderson almost curled in a third, but the biggest cheer of all came deep into stoppage time.
Desperate Holland won a corner, sending everybody forward including keeper Roefs.
But Beadle came through everybody to claim it and England were on their way to another date with destiny as they look to retain their crown as kings of Europe.

Now, six months on, the day of the official reopening has been confirmed.
Barcelona will return to the Camp Nou on August 10 for the Joan Gamper Trophy match – a yearly event which takes place just before the start of the La Liga season.
However, the stadium will not be fully completed by then.
A club statement revealed that some areas of the ground are still being developed.
It read: “Remaining works include the completion of the new third tier, the dual VIP ring, the roof installation, and the final touches to various interior spaces, as well as the urban development of the stadium’s surrounding area.
“During this period, the Club will strive to ensure the highest level of comfort for members, fans, and visitors to the Spotify Camp Nou, facilitating access and adapting services to offer the best possible experience.”
The statement continued: “To celebrate this moment, FC Barcelona has launched an epic and emotional campaign under the slogan ‘Tornem a casa, vibrem’.

“The campaign includes a wide range of actions and activations across the city and digital platforms, aimed at reinforcing the connection between the Club, its fans, and the city of Barcelona—as well as with culers around the world.
“Some campaign elements have already been released, with more initiatives to follow and details to be shared through the Club’s official channels.
“With this return, FC Barcelona takes a symbolic and emotional step into the future, reclaiming its home in a new era that will culminate with the complete inauguration of the new stadium.”
Barcelona’s opponents for the Joan Gamper Trophy match are yet to be confirmed, although Serie A side Como are allegedly in the frame.
The stadium will operate at a reduced capacity between 50,000 and 60,000 fans when first opened.
It will then increase to more than 99,000 upon completion.

IT may have ended six months ago, but the drama from last year’s I’m A Celebrity lived on thanks to Maura Higgins and Danny Jones’ illicit kiss at The Brit Awards in March.
Now campmate Dean McCullough has revealed some of the class of ’24 are set for a TV reunion.
RexDean McCullough on I’m A Celeb in 2024[/caption]
The Radio 1 DJ said: “A few of us have just been away filming a TV show which is coming out at the end of the year. It’s a really exciting one actually and it’ll be on around when the jungle’s on.
“A bit of a camp reunion . . . and it is camp, I’m doing it!”
Dean was in the jungle with celebrities including Coleen Rooney, Loose Woman and Sun columnist Jane Moore and TikTok star GK Barry.
His career has rocketed since then.
He is now a regular on ITV panel shows such as Big Brother: Late And Live and has just appeared on BBC’s The Hit List.
There was some tension between Dean and other camp mates in the jungle.
Scouse WAGColeenrevealed her husbandWayne Rooneydidn’t put on a lavish proposal when he popped the question.
Speaking in the Bush Telegraph direct to camera and away from camp, Dean delivered a catty comment as he sniped: “Coleen I’m not being funny babe but I would have run a mile.
“But then I would have missed out on the big house, the nice life and the four day wedding, and everything.”
Viewers at home didn’t miss the catty comment either, as one said: “Why is it we have to keep seeing Dean comment on everything in the hut?”

IT is one of the most nostalgic TV reboots of the year – but I can reveal the return of Blind Date will come with a very modern Love Island-style twist.
Earlier this month I revealed the programme, made famous by host Cilla Black in the Eighties on ITV, was being revived by Disney+.
The Blind Date revival will be set on a tropical island — just like Love Island, hosted by Maya Jama
But it will have a different flavour because much of the show will be spent on a tropical island — just like Love Island, hosted by Maya Jama— where contestants will compete for a dream wedding on the golden sands.
A TV insider said: “This sounds like a radical departure from the old Blind Date, one that definitely has hints of Love Island about it.
“But fans will recall a lot of the dates took place in hot, sunny climes abroad, and producers want to recapture some of the steamy fun, and expand upon that.
“Even the wedding element has hints of the old show, because the dream was always that the dates on the programme would lead to couples tying the knot.”
Cilla was at the helm for 18 years on the show which saw a contestant firing questions at three hopefuls concealed from their view by a wall — which slid back to reveal their chosen date.
The TV insider added: “In the reboot, the creators are not entirely dispensing with all of the old characteristics either as there are still plans to incorporate the show’s famous sliding wall and hire a top female host just like Cilla.”
Disney+ is imminently expected to confirm it is reviving Blind Date, though all details have been kept firmly under wraps.
No presenter has signed up as yet but the channel is targeting some big names in British TV, with the main criteria being that they have to be hugely famous women.
Here’s hoping whoever gets the role doesn’t mind getting a bit of sand between their toes in the course of the job.

STEPHEN IN TECH LESSON
STEPHEN FRY wants to make a futuristic TV drama series where e-mails, TikTok and SnapChat are “uncool” and people return to basic communication in “an unplugged life”.
The Celebrity Traitors star told podcast Extraordinary Life Stories: “I was planning to write a TV series in which this kid comes to a school and completely changes it.”
The pupil asks the teacher how to submit his essay as he doesn’t have a computer so can’t email it.
Stephen continues: “All the other (pupils) think ‘Who is this ridiculous child?’
“But then he starts influencing everybody. They think this is quite a fun way to live.
“We’ve come to a tipping point now where the uncoolest thing in the world is Snapchat, Instagram and TikTok.
“We know they’re harmful, but they are also vapid and shallow and silly.
“Imagine an unplugged life using all these fabulous old tools. You’d be the coolest people.”

BRIT actor Will Sharpe came over all prudish about a sex scene in upcoming Netflix rom-com series Too Much . . . well, compared with the Americans on set.
He cringed as US actress Megan Stalter, who plays the lead role in the show about an American woman coping with a new life in London, joked with the show’s US creator Lena Dunham after the X-rated action.
At this week’s launch of the show, which drops on July 10, Lena said: “One of Meg’s favourite things to do is to ask you after a take: ‘What face were you making during that?’
“One time it was right after a sex scene and Meg was like: ‘What face were you making during that?’
“And I heard Will’s mic, like: ‘Jesus f***ing Christ, Meg!’”

LEWIS CAPALDI will make a sensational return to music tomorrow – with the singer dropping his comeback single.
The release, Lewis’ first since he put out Strangers and A Cure For Minds Unwell in January last year, coincides with his secret set on the Pyramid Stage at Glasto.

PAThe announcement coincides with his secret set at Glastonbury[/caption]
As the gates to Worthy Farm opened to let the first of this year’s revellers through yesterday, a source said: “Lewis took a decent chunk of time away and now he’s ready for his fans to hear what he has been working on.
“Tomorrow is a huge day for him. He will be releasing a brand new single and it is his Pyramid Stage performance. He is in a great place and feels ready to come back into the spotlight.”
I was standing shoulder-to-shoulder with fans who, like me, were in tears at watching Lew struggling.
Afterwards, Lewis told us the performance made him realise he needed to “spend much more time getting my mental and physical health in order”.
He retreated from the spotlight but last year started working on new tunes, going into the studio with British singer-songwriter Dan D’Lion, where he was snapped strumming on an acoustic guitar.
Then one of my pals overheard him in Gerry’s bar in London last October excitedly talking about new music coming this year. Insiders said the new record came together quickly.
It will follow his two No1 albums, 2019’s debut Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, and Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, which came out in 2023.
In March, I caught up with his pal Yungblud, who told me he thought Lewis was back to his best, telling me: “I have heard his new music and it sounds great.”
And it’s not just the music which is on point, as Lewis returned to the stage for a secret show at Tom Walker’s Calm charity gig in Edinburgh last month.
Lewis came on stage after Tom had finished performing and played a six-song set in the Assembly Halls.
The show went down a treat and Lew absolutely nailed his six-song setlist.
Those close to Lewis’ told me he is more than ready to return to the spotlight.
“Lewis is raring to go,” my insider added. “Naturally there will always be nerves but he feels confident and assured.
“He is firing on all cylinders and there’s no doubt this single will go straight to No1, which will give Lewis a massive boost.”
We’re rooting for you Lewis, and we can’t wait to see you back down in Somerset.

There’s eight days to go until Liam and their uncle Noel reunite in Cardiff for Oasis’ reunion tour, and I’ve no doubt they will be in the crowd cheering them on.
And I won’t be surprised if Gene and Lennon hotfoot it from the French capital to Glastonbury, as I’ve seen them letting loose at the festival before.
If their resemblance to Liam extends to his behaviour, I’m sure they will be getting up to plenty of antics on Worthy Farm.
Libertine’s in album push
THE LIBERTINES are pushing ahead with their next album following the success of All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade, which went straight to No1 last year.
The band, Pete Doherty, Carl Barat, John Hassall and Gary Powell, left a gap of ten years between their third and fourth.
AFPThe Libertines are pushing ahead with their next album, pictured Pete Doherty[/caption]
And in an exclusive chat ahead of their performance on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage on Sunday afternoon, drummer Gary promised they won’t be leaving it as long before bringing out a fifth album.
“There’s always plans, it’s whether we get to it,” Gary said.“We were on a two-record deal.
“So there was supposed to be at least another record not long after the release of the one in 2015.
“Nearly ten years later, we finally got to it. We’re in the midst of touring at the moment, we’re still finishing off the touring cycle of this last album.”
Gary also dismissed suggestions The Libertines are still “ramshackle” on stage.
He said with a laugh: “It takes a lot of work to be as ramshackle as we are. Most bands will try and be ramshackle, whilst being extremely ramshackle. We actually work really hard at being ramshackle.
“I wouldn’t be in anything other than a well-rehearsed band.”

“I got the bands made, I didn’t want anything too flashy. He’s like, ‘What the hell is it? Valentine’s Day?’ I was like, ‘Oh no, if you’re gonna say no, I’m gonna have to take my clothes off’.
“Anyway, I got down on one knee, and Taika absolutely loved it.”
Rita also talked about her friendship with Beyonce and said: “Being signed to Jay Z, she is my biggest inspiration. She took it upon herself to really look after me, and I still see her.
“She’s always been so, so nice and proud, and checking in on my family and friends I’ve had since childhood, remembering their names. I mean, it’s crazy.”

MAROON 5 have announced their eighth album, Love Is Like. It will be out on August 15 and features All Night, as well as recent track Priceless.
Frontman Adam Levine said: “I feel like we’ve gone back to what we used to do, which is to not pay attention to where we fit, and producing the music organically.”
