I’m 5ft1 & there’s a high street shop we’ve been missing out on for years – I was in shock at their great summer pieces

IF you want to give your wardrobe an upgrade for summer, you’ve come to the right place.

And according to a fashionista, there’s a high street shop we’ve all been sleeping on for years.

So forget H&M, Primark or Zara, as according to Pia Grace Smith, a content creator who describes herself as “your 5ft1 clothes guru”, you’ll need to get down to New Look if you want clothes that will really turn heads this season.

Posting on social media, the brunette beauty couldn’t stop gasping after doing a huge haul in New Look.

As well as trying on a blue mini dress and a red co-ord, Pia also found a stunning pair of Brown Crinkle Textured Striped Wide Leg Trousers, which she paired with a Dark Brown Button Up Vest.

She even got her hands on a Black Mesh Floral Print Cowl Halterneck Maxi Dress – and it looks so expensive.

Alongside the short clip, the influencer beamed: “Sorry, have I been missing something for years??😍

Stunned by the gorgeous New Look buys, Pia, who is from the UK, added: “I am shocked!!

“Wow, how many gorgeous pieces, quality is unreal and I loved it all haha SHOCK.

“I truly couldn’t believe how nice the bits I chose were.”

Pia managed to get her hands on a pair of striped trousers, which are priced at £29.99 and are available in three colours – black, green and Pia’s choice, brown.

And it’s not just Pia who loves them, as online shoppers have praised them as “comfortable, lightweight and perfect for holiday.”

As well as this, not only are they said to not crease, but others were impressed with the “nice fabric” and hailed the high-street trousers as “lovely.”

Meanwhile, Pia paired the trousers with her new button up vest, which is super affordable at only £12.99.

As well as being reasonably priced, it’s incredibly versatile – it’ll look great with shorts for a casual look, or can be dressed up with tailored trousers for a day in the office.

How New Look reinvented itself from a teen shop

by Fabulous fashion editor Clemmie Fieldsend

“REMEMBER on a Saturday you’d meet up with your mates in your local town or city centre for a nosey around the shops?
Well, if you were like me you’d end up in a New Look.” says Clemmie Fieldsend.
“New Look was always one of those shops that when all else failed you could rely on them for whatever you needed.
Your college uniform, night out or disco outfit – whatever was required you could count on New Look to meet your style needs.”
Clemmie says: “I felt myself growing out of New Look and thought of it as a younger brand that wouldn’t have what I wanted but a quick scroll through their website or look through stores has proved me wrong.
This summer they are serving up some on trend delights from clothing to accessories and of course their comfortable footwear.
Recently they’ve lured in Girls Aloud’s Nadine Coyle for an exclusive Spring Edit plus fashion influencer Georgina Lennon.
They’re providing quality basics, elevated stables and trend lead designs that echo the New Look we all once loved but just a bit more grown up.”

But that’s not all, as Pia also nabbed the Black Mesh Floral Print Cowl Halterneck Maxi Dress, which is priced at £35.99.

The stunning dress has been hailed by New Look bosses as “a head-turning maxi for moments in the sun.”

This black mesh dress is also said to promise a “figure-skimming silhouette with pretty florals and a low-cut back.”

I always forget about New Look but wow these all look amazing

Instagram user

It’s sure to look eye-catching when paired with sandals for an evening look, but shoppers have even described it as “beautiful” for a wedding guest dress.

One user was left beaming with the frock and claimed it “fits perfectly.”

Fashion fans beam

And it’s clear that Pia’s Instagram clip, which was posted under the username @pia_gracesmith, has left many equally as impressed, as it has quickly racked up 134,000 views, 1,796 likes and 340 comments.

Fashion fans were left gushing with Pia’s New Look finds and many eagerly rushed to the comments to express this.

One person said: “OMG!!!!! I never find anything I like in New Look!!!! I literally like everything in this reel!!!!”

Hottest fashion trends of 2025

Fabulous’ Fashion Editor Clemmie Fieldsend shares the biggest trends from the high street.

The East/West Bag

Baguette bags have had a good run, after returning from the 1990s’ shoulders of Sarah Jessica Parker to modern-day fashion icons, like Hailey Bieber.

In 2025, the East/West bag is a similar but elongated shape and has long, thin straps that are easy to throw over your shoulder.

They’ve been on runway models’ arms at nearly ever designer show – think Burberry, Givenchy and Bottega Veneta – and are hitting the high street now, too.

Powder pink

Bright fuchsia pink had its day after the release of Barbie in 2023 and now the more polished and expensive-looking pale shade is taking over for 2025.

Pantone may say that it’s the year of Mocha Mousse, but the catwalks say otherwise! From Prada to Erdem, the subtle look was all over the spring/summer catwalks, worn head-to-toe or on its own.

If the sugary shade is too girly for you, then look to sharp suiting for a androgynous take on the colour.

The shell jacket

The ’80s classic is back, but with a sleek and minimal new twist for 2025.

We all know we’re likely to see rain for most of spring, so your practical coat of choice should be a cagoule jacket.

Depop revealed one of its big trend predictions for this year is retro sportswear, with surges already seen in ‘80s windbreakers’.

Seen everywhere from the stylish streets of Copenhagen to the Miu Miu catwalk, now mums who have an emergency raincoat crumpled underneath their pushchair are very much in fashion!

The turn-up jeans

While the shape of jeans remains the same for this year and barrel-legs will still be everywhere, the way we’re styling them is different.

This season, transform your wide-leg, baggy denims into turn-ups.

For this look, size doesn’t matter, so while deep turn-ups are a hit from jean trend-leaders Citizens of Humanity, a slight fold is still just as good – but only as it’s just one single fold.

Peep-toe shoe

Get your pedicures booked in sharpish, as this season your toes are the main event.

After a long hiatus, the peep-toe has been welcomed back into the fashion fold, with brands like Hermes, Miu Miu and Tory Burch showing plain and embellished footwear in this style.

From mules to pumps and clogs (yes, clogs will be around too!), there are lots of different styles that are set to sweep the high street.

Sheer blouses

See-through looks have always lived on the catwalk, but have rarely filtered into everyday life – until now.

Designers Ralph Lauren and Tom Ford loved sheer looks on their S/S ’25 catwalks and M&S even had sellout success with its black sheer pencil skirt last season.

Expect to see more sheer looks lining supermarket aisles and high street shops in the form of skirts, tops and frocks.

Another added: “Never shop in New Look but wow 🔥 stunning.”

A third commented: “I always forget about New Look but wow these all look amazing.”

Meanwhile, one fashionista gasped: “You’re making me skint!!!”

Whilst someone else beamed: “They are all so beautiful on you.”

Man killed in horror early-morning crash involving truck in Co Meath as gardai issue plea after scene examination

A MAN, aged in his 70s, has been killed in a horror early-morning crash involving a truck in Co Meath.

The man, who was the driver of the truck, was pronounced dead at the scene after the single-vehicle crash on the L2226 in Ballinderry.

Gardai and emergency services were alerted to the incident at around 5am yesterday morning.

The man’s body was removed from the scene to hospital for a post mortem examination.

No other injuries were reported.

Gardai closed the road for a technical examination following the collision but have since confirmed it has been reopened.

They have urged anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the moments leading up to it to come forward and assist in their investigation.

In a statement this morning, a garda spokesperson said: “Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 4.30am and 5.30am on the morning of Thursday 10th July 2025, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Trim Garda Station on (046) 948 1540, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”

It comes after a man, aged in his 60s, died in a horror two-car crash in Co Westmeath that left another woman hospitalised.

The collision took place on the N4 in Ballinalack at around 4.20pm on Thursday.

Gardai attended the scene alongside Forensic Collision Investigators.

The crash involved two vehicles although the make and model of each of them has yet to be released.

The driver of one car, a man in his 60s, was taken from the scene of the crash to Midlands Hospital in Mullingar where he sadly passed away.

A second person, a woman also in her 60s, was injured at the scene.

She was taken to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore to be treated for injuries described by Gardai as “serious”.

Gardai urged anyone with any information to come forward.

A spokesperson said: “Anyone with information is asked to contact Mullingar Garda Station on (044) 938 4000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”

Joey O’Brien hails ‘brilliant player’ Sean Boyd following Champions League victory against Linfield

JOEY O’Brien has hailed Seán Boyd’s reaction to being left out of his starting line-up.

O’Brien made Boyd Shelbourne’s captain for their game against Galway United a fortnight ago but the striker was on the bench last Friday against Cork City.

The Dublin native has seen an unbeaten start to his tenure as Shelbourne manager

It was thought that might have been to rest him ahead of their Champions League clash against Linfield on Wednesday.

But Boyd again had to be content with a place among the substitutes before he was summoned into action early in the second half in Drumcondra.

Within two minutes of coming on, he had gotten the better of two opponents to set up Mipo Odubeko for the only goal of the first leg at Tolka Park.

And O’Brien said: “I’m sure of it, I know he was really disappointed, it was a really hard team to pick, because everyone wants to play in this game. Like, as young players, that’s what it’s about, playing Champions League football.

“I said that before the game, not many players get that opportunity, and I had to break a few of their hearts I suppose, by not playing them.

“So I’m sure he was one of them that was really disappointed, but listen, that sums him up.

“I suppose he was a person, and the relationship that I have with him, to be able to put it aside and put the team ahead of himself, and to go out and perform the way he did. He’s a brilliant player in this league.

“I was delighted with his impact and I suppose on another night he probably would have scored another one himself.

“As I said to them before, it’s about the squad for me. We have a super squad. Sometimes lads are going to get disappointed but they all have to be ready.

“We made five subs. Next week, we’ll be making five subs again. It’s a squad game. Over the next few days, training is going to be really good because they’re all going to be wanting to play next week.

“That competition, to try to get into that team next week, will keep all the lads tuned in.”

O’Brien was also chuffed with Odubeko who scored for the third game running, having netted just five times in his previous 23 appearances.

The boss said: “He’s been brilliant the last few weeks. He’s caused serious problems to teams. I think he’s on a nice little run there with goals and all that.

“His overall play I thought was very good. It was difficult for him in the first half just with how deep they were defending.

“For that second half, he came out well and linked with Seán then going up to him. They’re up there, sometimes one, two people are looking after Seán and then it creates one-v-ones with him. I thought he was brilliant.”

SUBBED OFF?

But Odubeko admitted he thought his night might have been over when he saw Boyd limbering up.

He said: “I was thinking that, to be fair. The two up front works well. We’ve a good relationship, a great understanding of each other, both on and off the pitch. That does help. Credit to him.

“He’s sort of like a big brother figure for me. When we’re on the pitch together we work really well. I was happy to see him come on. He did the right thing and I scored. I’m happy for me but also him.”

For O’Brien, there was relief that the focus was on players before with the spotlight having been on Damien Duff’s shock departure and him stepping up to replace him.

The former Ireland, West Ham and Shamrock Rovers player, 39, said: “There’s been so much talk about this football club over the last few weeks, about myself, the manager leaving, all that sort of stuff. I wanted the focus to be on them.

“I said to them, ‘At 7.45pm, make sure you’re ready to rock, go out and do your talking out on the pitch. There’s too much noise around this football club. Let’s show everyone how good of players we are’. And I thought they did that.”

Horror as Brit mum, 50, drowns in front of husband & son, 16, after being swept away by waves in Corfu

A BRITISH mum has drowned after being swept away by strong waves in Corfu.

The 50-year-old mum was swimming with her husband, while their teenage son watched from the beach, when the tragedy unfolded at Roda beach in northern Corfu.

Reports suggest strong winds and bad weather caused the two swimmers to be swept under water.

The mother, who has not be named, was rushed to a private clinic where she was tragically pronounced dead.

She was then taken to Corfu General Hospital, where her husband is being treated for minor injuries and her 16-year-old son is receiving trauma support.

A forensic inquiry into the exact cause of death is underway, according to local reports.

This will determine whether she died from drowning of being struck from a rock.

Jake Wood breaks silence on Max Branning’s bombshell return to EastEnders as BBC reveals when he’ll appear on screen

An image collage containing 1 images, Image 1 shows Max Branning standing outside Walford East Station

JAKE Wood has broken his silence about returning to EastEnders.

The Sun exclusively revealed how the actor will make a shock return later this year as the chaotic loverat Max Branning.

The Brannings are being rebuilt as a family on Albert Square[/caption]

And now actor Jake has confirmed the news and revealed when he will be seen back on screen.

Max will return briefly later this autumn just four years after leaving the show, while his permeant return scheduled for later in the year.

Jake said: “I’m over the moon to be coming home to Walford.

“Max has got lots of unresolved drama with many characters, so I’m sure he’ll be busy.

“I’m excited to see what he’s been up to, and what is next for the character, but if his last 15 years in the Square are anything to go by, I’m sure there will be plenty of chaos.”

New EastEnders Executive Producer, Ben Wadey added: “I’m delighted to welcome the immensely talented Jake Wood back to the role of Max Branning.

“Whilst his character has only been away from Albert Square for four years, Walford, and the lives of those who live in it, have changed immensely.

“Max has a lot of unfinished business, but whether he is welcomed by his family remains to be seen.

“However, with a past as checkered as Max’s, it’s fair to say that many Walford residents will not be pleased to see him, putting the Brannings back at the heart of the Square, and the drama, this year.”

The BBC soap is also welcoming back Max’s son Oscar, with Pierre Moullier taking over the role.

A source told The Sun earlier this year: “It is an exceptional bout of casting – Pierre looks more like a younger Jake than Jake did himself. It’s uncanny.

“He’s going to bring something new to Oscar and the character will definitely set the cat amongst the pigeons in the Square.”

Inside Katie Taylor’s personal life beyond boxing from reconciling with dad Pete to dating history

KATIE Taylor will be cheered by her whole family tonight as she battles Amanda Serrano for a third time.

After months of hints, it’s been confirmed in the lead-up to this match-up that she has fully reconciled with dad Pete to the point that he has helped with her training camp.

Here, SunSport delves into their complicated past as well as her wider family life:

ESTRANGED YEARS

They were estranged for roughly three years after Pete, 61, left Katie’s mother for now wife Karen Brown. Karen, 35, was a close pal of Katie’s prior to the revelation.

The strain of her parents’ marriage clearly affected Katie’s preparations for the 2016 Olympics.

Without her dad in her corner for the first time, she under-performed and was upset at the quarter-final stage by Finland’s Mira Potkonen.

The first breadcrumb that she had begun to mend fences with Pete came in 2019 when they were pictured together again.

English-born Pete has previously credited her for essentially sacrificing another Olympic gold medal in order to stand by her mother at the time.

Speaking in 2019, he reflected: “She has good morals. She said if you’ve split up with my mother then I don’t want you in my corner.

“She knew what the outcome would be. She knew that she’d be missing me in the corner but she still had the morals to go ahead and do that.

“You’ve got to respect that. She was reared good. There’s not many people who’d risk losing a European, Worlds and Olympic title by not having your father as a coach.”

WIDER FAMILY

Katie has two brothers named Lee and Peter as well as a sister called Sarah. Katie is the baby of the bunch.

Mother Bridget has been a rock throughout Katie’s entire ring career.

In an interview with MummyPages, Bridget shared what a ‘tomboy’ Katie was growing up.

She recalled: “Katie was a tomboy; she wouldn’t have been your typical girl. I have two girls and two sons.

“Katie was very close to her older brother, there’s only a year and a couple of months between them, other people used to think they were twins when they were growing up!

A multi-sport star, she earned 11 senior Republic of Ireland caps between 2006-2009

“They would have played a lot of sport together. They played a lot of football on the bank where we lived and they were in running club together.

“She was just really good at sports when she was younger, all kinds of sports. She was really good at sprinting, she ran for the county, she won a few county medal and an all schools 1500m race as well.

“She played soccer for Ireland too, she captained the team.”

DATING HISTORY

Katie tends to keep this part of her private life just that.

It’s very noticeable that about the only time the mild-mannered Bray native gets irked during interviews is when she’s quizzed about her love life.

In one exchange with The Athletic she told of how it is her least favourite line of inquiry.

Taylor outlined: “Probably the question about relationships. That’s another question people always ask. I guess people are just interested in my personal life.

“I get it all the time. It’s a bit annoying at times but I’m just polite and get on with it. I don’t think male boxers get asked it, though.”

She’s also previously explained to The Irish Mirror that her obsession with her craft leaves little to no time to dedicate to dating.

She said: “I’m not [seeing anyone] at the moment, I really genuinely haven’t got the time. I’m just out in America training hard at the moment but who knows what could happen in the future.”
