THIS is the terrifying moment a speeding bus filled with students swerves across the road before plunging into a river.
Shocking footage shows the double decker narrowly avoiding cars before flying off the road near Eastleigh, Hampshire yesterday morning.

Students could be heard shouting ‘we’re going to die’ as the horror unfolded
The speeding bus squeezes between an oncoming car and a learner driver before crashing through a fence into the River Itchen, on Bishopstoke Road.
19 people were left injured following the disturbing ordeal, which was over in a matter of seconds.
Video from inside the vehicle, filmed by one horrified passenger, also shows the double decker barrelling down the Hampshire road.
Terrified screams can be heard from the students, who shout, “we’re going to die”, before the video cuts off.
The youngster behind the camera says: “Oh my god, the bus has just had a major crash and now he’s speeding off.”
Someone else yells in panic: “Get away from the windshield.”
“We’re going to die, we’re actually going to die, what’s he doing?”, says the concerned boy filming.
“Oh my god, oh my god, we’re actually going to die,” he repeats, his voice growing more shaky.
Pictures from the scene also showed the large blue bus sitting upright in the shallow river with broken railings left behind.
Three passengers were rushed to hospital while fourteen were treated for minor injuries.
It comes as the driver earlier blamed faulty brakes and a “jammed accelerator”.
Speaking to the BBC, resident Kelly West said: “We ran outside, we ran around the front of the bus and spoke to the driver.”
She was told by the driver that the “brakes were not working” and the accelerator “jammed”.
He explained to her that he was “doing the best he could” to avoid oncoming traffic coming down the road.
The Bluestar double-decker was College Bus 607 for Barton Peveril students, according to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary.
Multiple emergency services swooped down after the crash.
At least five ambulances were spotted on the residential road and two helicopters were scrambled to the scene, which has been cordoned off by police.
Fire crews were also seen carrying ladders and working with stretchers to bring any remaining passengers off the bus.
All passengers have since been removed from the bus which is sitting upright in the River Itchen, said the ambulance service.
Bluestar have confirmed there were 19 passengers on-board at the time.
Scott Agass said that his 17-year-old son was onboard but is thankfully okay.
He told the Echo: “We are just waiting for our son who was onboard. They are not in the bus at the moment, I think they are all out.
“He said he was sitting there with a blanket and a monitor on his finger. He doesn’t really know what happened or what caused it.
“I suppose it just happened so quick. All he saw was that it crashed and gone in the river.”
It is understood that other families of the youngsters are gathered at the Eastleigh Rugby Club awaiting more information from police.
Barton Peveril Sixth Form College has said its staff are working closely with police.
Bluestar, which operates the double-decker, has said “early reports suggest the bus left the highway and came to rest in a shallow river”.
Richard Tyldsley, Bluestar general manager, said: “There were 19 passengers on-board at the time.
“Our driver and at least two of the passengers have confirmed injuries, and we are awaiting further updates on the status of others on-board.
“We do not currently have full details of their injuries and are following their progress closely.
“Our thoughts are with everybody involved, and we wish those who were injured a full and speedy recovery.
“At this time, we do not know the circumstances behind this incident and are carrying out an immediate investigation. We are also assisting the police as they carry out their own enquiries.”

It’s been created by the experts at Sun Motors, who have run the figures, crunched the numbers and done all sorts of tricky calculations.
I’m a used car expert, and I’m going to give you my view on three of the best used cars on this list.
Even better, if you find one you like, you can apply for finance and get an instant decision in just 60 seconds. You can search for a car, secure finance and agree on a sale all from the comfort of your armchair.
This is why Sun Motors is quickly becoming the best place to buy a used car in the UK.
It’s simple to use and connects buyers with hundreds of the UK’s top dealers. All the cars have been thoroughly checked before being put up for sale. You can also access affordable finance deals.
Use the 60 second checker to see what you’re eligible for within your own budget
This cool, compact and convenient city car is a huge seller on Sun Motors.
It’s reliable, affordable and easy to drive, with the short wheelbase and compact design making it a doddle to potter about and park. It’s a WhatCar? favourite, too.
The biggest selling point is the fact it does a quite incredible 70 miles to the gallon.
Buying a used car? Find cars for under £200 on Sun Motors here.
The ride quality is good, too. It’s perfect for short journeys and city spins. It’s a compact can, and ‘larger individuals’ may struggle for space in the front (or get stuck in the back).
The petrol-electric hybrid engine (like the one in this 2021 Yaris ICON) is no slouch and easily manages motorway cruising speeds. If you want better performance, go for a GR Sport model.
We’re old enough to remember the iconic Steve McQueen advert for the original Puma.
This compact SUV-style car is more aggressive-looking and comes packed with more features. It’s a little less fun than the original, but it’s a perfect and practical family car.
Starting with the looks, the Ford Puma is more angular and aggressive than the original, but we like the big grill and rounded headlights.
The in-car experience is great, with lots of modern gadgets and gizmos like the large panel touchscreen, making it feel like you’ve invested well.
Despite some negative reviews, pre-2024 versions feel reassuringly well-made for a Ford, as well.
Ford announced the petrol model Puma would be phased out in 2024. You can still get them, like this stunning red 2023 Ford Puma 5Dr ST-Line.
On the road, it’s confident and capable, as you’d expect. The 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine isn’t hugely exciting, but it’s a family car, so sit back and enjoy the ride.
Everyone knows the MINI is a cool car, and it continues to sell by the bucketload.
The styling is iconic and remains a favourite among all types of drivers.
There’s no one Mini, there’s a huge amount of variation, with the standard MINI coupe, convertible, Cooper and Clubman all having huge numbers of fans in the market.
All minis sell well, because they’re a huge amount of fun to drive. Step (or slide) into a Mini and you instantly feel at home.
The driving position is comfortable, albeit quite low down. It’s ergonomically designed with every dial, switch, lever and pedal (thankfully) where you expect it to be.
There are too many model variations to provide a review of any one particular engine configuration, but that’s not a problem because they’re all good.
To apply for car finance, you’ll need to have information about yourself, including your date of birth, address and income. Our finance provider will do a soft check to get an understanding of what you could borrow.
When you find a car and agree on a price, you’ll need to submit a full finance application. At this stage, the lender will require additional information, including identification and proof of income. (They may ask for additional information, especially if you’re self-employed.)
This process should be over pretty quickly. Once your agreement is signed, sit back and wait for the keys to your new dream car.
Can I apply for car finance if I’ve been denied credit before?
Yes, you can. Firstly, when you apply for finance with Sun Motors, our lender will only do a ‘soft check’. That means there’s no impact on your credit rating.
Our finance partner specialises in arranging credit for individuals who have been previously denied by high-street lenders. Car finance is secured against an asset, which offers lenders some protection, which means they may be more willing to lend.
We can’t make any promises, but apply to Sun Motors finance and you’ll get a decision in 60 seconds, so what have you got to lose?
What to look for when buying a used car
When buying a used car some of the things to look out for are mileage, service history, condition of the car body and internals, previous owners, known problems (that have hopefully been fixed) and price.
We always recommend buying a car from a dealer. This way, your new car will have been checked and any issues sorted. It’ll also come with a fresh MOT and a warranty, too.
When it comes to buying a used car, there’s often no such thing as a bargain. Unless you know what you’re doing, it’s better to pay a little more for the peace of mind from buying from a dealer.

What is good mileage on a used car?
High mileage on a car doesn’t necessarily scream AVOID like it used to. Modern cars can cope with high mileages.
What they can’t deal with is a lack of servicing, care and attention.
When buying a car, always check that it’s been serviced regularly, preferably by a main dealer.
Check out old MOTs and look for faults that may not have been fixed.
If you’re buying a high-mileage car, ask how the miles were done. Long motorway trips will put less pressure on the car than lots of short city centre stop-start drives.
What are the best used models for reliability?
According to the ever-reliable WhatCar? the most reliable cars in the UK include:
These are the ones that perform best in their test. Overall, most modern cars are much more reliable than the cars I grew up with.
Regularly service a car, drive it with care and ensure all issues are dealt with quickly, and you should get many thousands (and in some cases, hundreds of thousands) of miles out of it.

In a bizarre twist of fate, a peaceful night turned tumultuous for a Thai man named James in Chiang Mai province. In the early hours of Wednesday, June 25, James found himself at the receiving end of an unexpected assault on the road, with no prior provocation. James, a robust 30-year-old with a penchant for peaceful nights, took his quest for justice to the public, leveraging the power of social media. With a flair for authenticity, he uploaded CCTV footage of the dramatic encounter on his Facebook page, accompanied by the charged call-to-action: “Hunt him!” The footage, a chilling testament to the unpredictability of human encounters, went live on June 26. A SAVVY maths professor has shared the easy way to get your car cool in seconds for the school run.
Hannah Fry, from the UK, took to social media to give us all a lesson in fluid dynamics.

GettyIt’s perfect for getting on the school run on time[/caption]
Cars can become super hot in the summer, and it often takes a while for the AC to kick in and cool it down.
But Hannah shared the simple trick to get it cool in seconds.
She said: “You know that thing when you get into your car in the summer and it’s absolutely boiling hot?
“There’s actually a flow dynamics trick that you can use to quickly cool your car down. That’s what my PhD’s in, flow dynamics.”
Instead of putting the air conditioning on, she rolled down the window behind the driver’s seat and stepped out of the car.
Then, using the passenger side door, she would stand and open and shut it quickly for a few seconds.
Hannah did this a few times before getting back in the car as she was getting embarrassed.
“The reason why it works is that when you open and close the door, especially if you do it quickly, the door, as it’s moving outwards, it sweeps out all of the air that’s in its way, creating this sort of area of low pressure that you get here,” she explained.
“Then that sets up something called bulk flow, which is where all of the hot, sweaty, horrible air inside the car is drawn outwards. And the only way to refill it is with nice, fresh, easy air from over that side.
“It takes about two or three goes and suddenly it’s absolutely beautifully temperate.”
The clip has since gone viral on her TikTok account @fryrsquared with over 1.9 million views and 150k likes.
The clever hack comes just in time for summer and people were grateful for the advice.
One person wrote: “Never be embarrassed about fluid dynamics, babe.”
Another commented: “you lowkey deserve to be nominated for the Nobel Prize.”
How to keep cool in hot weather
Most of us welcome hot weather, but when it's too hot, there are health risks. Here are three ways to keep cool according to the NHS...
Keep out of the heat if you can.
If you have to go outside, stay in the shade especially between 11am and 3pm, wear sunscreen, a hat and light clothes, and avoid exercise or activity that makes you hotter.
Cool yourself down.
Have cold food and drinks, avoid alcohol, caffeine and hot drinks, and have a cool shower or put cool water on your skin or clothes.
Keep your living space cool.
Close windows during the day and open them at night when the temperature outside has gone down. Electric fans can help if the temperature is below 35 degrees. Check the temperature of rooms, especially where people at higher risk live and sleep.
“I’ve done this always with zero understanding of fluid dynamics…Am I a genius?” penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “My dad used to tell me off for doing this as a kid, can’t wait to show him I was actually just a child genius.”
“This is genius!” claimed a fifth
Someone else added: “This is the coolest thing I’ve learned in a while! Thank you!”

A FAMOUS TikToker who went missing was tragically found dead with her body dismembered.

Cops were able to identify the TikToker by her distinctive tattoos, including the phrase “Love me for who I am” in English on her arm.
They say she may have been strangled before being dismembered.
They suspect it could be an act of revenge by the family or the close circle of her ex-boyfriend, who died in 2022 in unclear circumstances.
Fabiola – originally from Barquisimeto, Venezuela – left her country in 2022, when she was 16.
She was accompanied by her then-boyfriend, Mayner Yoffrey Giménez Castrillo, who is 21 years older than her.
Once in Lima, they lived together in a rental flat in the Huaycán district, where Mayner was found dead just months later.
His death was ruled a suicide, but his family never believed he took his own life. They accused Fabiola of killing him.
Despite this, she was never formally investigated and continued her life in Lima, working at nightclubs and bars.
Local media reports claim a Venezuelan mafia gang even threatened to make her “pay” for Mayner’s death.

IT WILL soon be easier for Brits to holiday on the island of La Palma.
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays will begin two new routes to one of the least visited Canary Island, La Palma, for next summer – and you can book now.
AlamyJet2 is launching new flight routs from Manchester and London Stansted[/caption]
AlamyThe beaches on La Palma have volcanic black sands[/caption]
The airline will start new routes and introduce new holiday package from Manchester Airport on April 3, 2026 and are already bookable online.
The brand-new flying programme means two weekly services on Monday and Friday.
The second route is exclusive with no other airline flying from London Stansted to La Palma.
Jet2 will begin two weekly services with flights taking off on Mondays and Fridays which will begin on October 26, 2026.
CEO Steve Heapy said: “We are delighted to be expanding our presence across the Canary Islands from London Stansted and Manchester Airports by adding this brand-new gateway to our portfolio, appealing to holidaymakers looking to explore the island’s natural beauty.
He added: “After experiencing consistent demand from holidaymakers wanting to escape to the Canary Islands throughout the year, we are confident that these new flights and holidays will prove popular with customers.
“We are already looking forward to taking customers to La Palmafor the first time on their well-deserved holidays from April 2026 and beyond.”
Jet2 now flies to five destinations across the Canary Islands, from 2026.
And Jet2holidays has also launched a range of hotels located across the island with a selection of 2-4 star accommodation available to book.
These are across stunning resorts like Los Cancajos, Puerto Naos and Tazacorte.

Prior to the 2021 volcanic eruption on La Palma, the island received around 250,000 visitors per year.
The numbers of holiday makers significantly decreased after that, but have slowly been rising.
In 2024, La Palma recorded 120,000 visitors to the island – a fraction of the seven million visiting Tenerife.
La Palma has dramatic cliffs, forests and beautiful beaches, which is why it is becoming popular with Brits.
The average temperature in La Palma, Canary Islands, typically ranges from 16C to 27C throughout the year making it a popular winter sun spot.
On the lesser-known place on island is the Caldera de Taburiente a volcanic crater almost five miles wide, created by an eruption three million years ago.
Santa Cruz de la Palma is the capital and port with cobbled streets, lined with 15th-century buildingswith flower-filled balconies.
You can also do stargazing and visit the beaches which are not golden, but have volcanic black sands instead.
Bajamar is a long and wide beach in the capital, while Los Cancajos has calm waters and is a popular spot for families.
In the north is Charco Azul, a natural seawater pool enclosed by volcanic rocks and waterfalls.

Kym, 49, is currently enjoying a summer break with friends but turned up the heat when she indulged in the eye-popping mini photoshoot.
Ditching her bikini top altogether, Kym could be seen pulling her best sultry pose in the water on holiday.
The soon-to-be grandma of four could be seen facing a waterfall-like feature as she threw her head back and crouched seductively in the water.
The former Coronation Street actress added the caption: “Just casual, Fun in the sun!!”
As well as her nearly-naked photograph, Kym shared some images of her hanging out with her pals on the trip.
Kym and her friends were staying in a luxury villa which appeared to come complete with its own private pool.
The celebrations continued well into the night as Kym shared a snap of a slew of bottles of alcohol along with the caption: “Summer nights.”
Her much-needed trip away comes after it was confirmed that she had quit her role in BBC school-based drama, Waterloo Road.
Kym was revealed to have walked away from the role in the wake of her split from her toyboy boyfriend, Samuel Thomas.
The three-times married star was one of the BBC drama’s biggest signings but The Sun told this year how she had already recorded her final scenes.
A source said: “Kym is in a new chapter of her life.
“She’s heading towards 50 and wants to try as many new things as she can.
“One of the reasons she dumped Samuel was because she just wanted to have some fun and see where her work takes her.
“She’s already got a busy work and family life and is very much enjoying her freedom and being able to take on exciting new projects wherever they may take her.”
The former Coronation Street actress has moved into presenting over the last couple of years.
She is a regular on BBC’s Morning Live and has a travel show on Channel 5 with Richard Arnold.
