ISRAEL says it has killed one of the last masterminds behind the bloody October 7 attacks.
Senior Hamas commander Hakham Muhammad Issa Al-Issa was “eliminated” in a targeted airstrike on Gaza City, according to the IDF.
Senior Hamas commander Hakham Muhammad Issa Al-Issa was reportedly killed by the IDF
The Israel Defense Forces said Al-Issa — described as a founding member of Hamas’ military wing — was “eliminated” in an operation on the Sabra neighbourhood.
“Issa led Hamas’ force build-up, training, and planned the October 7 massacre,” the IDF posted on X.
As Head of Combat Support, he advanced aerial & naval attacks against Israelis.
“The IDF & [Israel Security Agency] will continue to locate and eliminate all terrorists involved in the October 7 massacre.”
According to Palestinian reports, Al-Issa was killed along with his wife and grandson, though this has not been independently confirmed.
The IDF later said it had verified his death.
Al-Issa is widely believed to have played a pivotal role in orchestrating the October 7 assault on southern Israel that triggered the current war, with terrorists slaughtering kidnapping dozens of innocent people.

JIM McGuinness praised his Donegal players for digging themselves out of a big ‘hole’ at Croke Park.
The Donegal boss said the back-to-back Ulster champions were in danger of ‘limping’ out of the Championship after a horror first-half.
Patrick McBrearty of Donegal celebrates after thel quarter-final match vs MonaghanDonegal manager Jim McGuinness hailed his side as the came back in the clash at Croke Park
But they showed just why they’re All-Ireland SFC title favourites with a brilliant second-half performance to secure their semi-final spot.
Man of the Match Shane O’Donnell, Michael Murphy, Conor O’Donnell and goal hero Michael Langan all punched holes in the Monaghan defence.
Donegal reeled off 11 points in a row in the final 20 minutes or so as Monaghan crashed out of the Championship.
It all turned sour for the Farney who capitalised on Donegal’s fatigue in the first-half to lead 1-15 to 0-11 at the break.
Gabriel Bannigan’s boys were shooting two-pointers for fun with goalkeeper Rory Beggan drilling five first-half points.
And Donegal goalie Shaun Patton was having a nightmare at the other end, struggling on his kick-outs and at fault for Micheal Bannigan’s 27th minute goal.
But Patton was redeemed after the restart, and Donegal rejuvenated generally, as they powered through to the Championship’s last four.
McGuinness said: “We didn’t change any personnel at half-time, we just trusted the fellas to get it right themselves.
“It was over to the players. It’s a moment where you’ve got to say, ‘Listen, we’re in a hole here – and only the players get themselves out of that hole’.
“So very, very happy they responded the way they did, and very happy with the bench as well. That was very important, everyone that came on made a massive contribution.”
McGuinness described the overall experience as a huge ‘stress test’ of the team’s character.
And he acknowledged that they looked ‘tired’ as they played their fourth game in June, and their ninth in the Championship.
Langan’s second-half brilliance after a quiet first-half summed up the team’s afternoon.
McGuinness said: “He scored a massive, massive goal. He was exceptional. He’s a brilliant footballer and that’s the bottom line. He can do it both ways – he’s very stylish and he’s very honest and brilliant defensively. He can fetch and finish. You don’t want much more in a midfielder than that.”
McGuinness had words of praise too for Patton who looked much more assured after the break.
Monaghan really got under his skin in the first-half with their aggressive press and two lines of four.
Patton booted one short kick-out out over the sideline, leading to a Bannigan point.
Bannigan capitalised again when Patton took too long with his kick-out and a tap-over free was awarded.
And Patton must have wished the ground could have swallowed him up when he booted straight to Stephen O’Hanlon who fed Bannigan for the Monaghan goal.
McGuinness said: “You were trying to thread the eye of the needle at that stage with the kick-outs, and we got caught with one, and we were punished for that.
“There was much more variety in the second-half and also we trusted our bigger men to go and fetch. Hugh McFadden did that really well, Michael Langan did it well, Jason McGee when he came in, so all of that was a big plus for us.”
McGuinnes said he was well aware that Monaghan would push hard for the two-pointers.
But knowing it and being able to stop the orange flags going up are two different things – as the first-half proved.
Monaghan helped themselves to four from distance in that period and sub David Garland added a fifth at the end of the second-half.
Beggan and Andrew Woods booted a couple of two-pointers each in the first-half. Conor McCarthy and Ryan O’Toole drilled important singles for Monaghan too.
McCarthy also fired three wides and eventually went off with a hamstring injury in the second-half. So did Ryan McAnespie as everything that could go wrong for Monaghan did.
But at half-time they must have thought a second All-Ireland semi-final appearance in three seasons was coming their way.
It was some difference to their Ulster SFC quarter-final meeting in April.
Back then, it was Donegal that led by seven points at one stage in the first-half, and by six at half-time.
Monaghan fought back bravely that day in Clones to lose by just two.
Donegal were the ones that had to do the fighting back this time and they pinched the win that has left them within touching distance of the Sam Maguire Cup.
Murphy provided vital leadership for Donegal, playing the one-two with Langan for his 44th minute goal and sniping four points.
His three wides were surprising though, particularly his first from a free he’d normally slot over.
Shane O’Donnell and Conor O’Donnell were excellent in helping Donegal exploit gaps in the Monaghan defence after the break.
Those openings hadn’t been there in the first-half and Donegal took full advantage, nailing the first three points of the second-half.
Monaghan were still three ahead in the 45th minute and will wonder how things might have panned out had Beggan converted a 49th minute two-point free.
His long-range shot hit the post and while Woods gobbled up the rebound, he couldn’t convert. If Beggan had scored, Monaghan would have been three ahead.
It all added fuel to Donegal’s fire and when Langan rifled to the net, it was hard to see how they wouldn’t win.
Peadar Mogan, Ciaran Moore and Ryan McHugh poured forward as Monaghan were pinned back for the final 20 minutes or so.
They reeled off 11 points in a row between the 46th and 68th minutes as Monaghan’s entire season spiralled out of their control.
Monaghan resorted to pot-shots for two-pointers late on. Beggan did kick a huge free all the way to the net in the last minute but a free-out for a foul close to goal was given anyhow.

Gettyit comes after Cristiano Ronaldo agreed record-breaking fresh terms this week[/caption]
The 28-year-old winger played a key role inLiverpool‘s title-winning season, contributing 17 goals and eight assists in 50 appearances across all competitions.
Liverpoolhaven’t offered Diaz a contract extension and he could be marginalised after the £116million arrival of club-record signing Florian Wirtzfrom Bayer Leverkusen.
According to a report byOkaz, Al-Nassr have set their sights on Diaz and are open to making him the second-highest sale in Liverpool history behind Philippe Coutinho.
Journalist Ben Jacobs confirmed Al-Nassr’s interest and hinted that while Liverpool currently have no intention of selling, such a huge bid could tempt the club’s hierarchy to reconsider.
Al-Nassr are planning a mega recruitment drive after missing out on Asian Champions League football next season and failing to win a title since Ronaldo, 40, joined from Manchester United in 2021.
SunSport previously reported that Liverpool valued Diaz at £70million, so the club might be drawn in by banking £15million more.

But SPORT have claimed that Barca are “convinced” that they will finally land Diaz when the second-half of the summer window opens after the Club World Cup.
She wrote under a slideshow of photos showcasing Diaz’s triumphs in the 2024-25 season: “From the first day we arrived, we felt first hand what it means to be a part of this club.
“We knew the slogan was ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, but to hear them sing it with so much passion, support us every moment and show such unconditional love… confirmed to us that here you never walk alone.
“This fanbase doesn’t just support, it feels. And what you have made my boyfriend and our entire family feel is something we carry in our souls.”
But Liverpool boss Arne Slot is eager to keep Diaz fornext season’s title defence after his ever-growing £216MILLION reboot, with Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez joining over the last month.

PARAMEDICS have been warned after a second fire aboard an ambulance in a week.
The National Ambulance Service is now investigating a possible fault in the 242 model, which affects 96 vehicles nationwide.
It is understood the latest incident relates to a lithium ion battery in the ambulance.
The full details of what happened have not yet been disclosed publicly.
Only a week ago, an ambulance was destroyed by fire while parked near the Sacred Heart Hospital in Castlebar, Co Mayo.
There were no crew or patients in the vehicle at the time.
NAS said yesterday that a full investigation into a possible fault is underway.
In a memo, staff were advised to use an alternative ambulance rather than the 242 if there is one available.
If not, bosses urged workers to be “vigilant” for themselves and patients.
Crews were also told it might be prudent to park ambos in locations out of harm’s way.
Paramedics were informed that vehicle auxiliary batteries may be the fire cause.
Last week, Gardaiand emergency services rushed to the scene at Sacred Heart Hospital after the alarm was raised in the early hours of the morning.
The fire has caused damage to nearby property where the ambulance was parked inCastlebar.

HAUNTING pictures of the Bayesian superyacht’s wrecked interior have been revealed – after it sank off the coast off Sicily last summer.
Tech tycoon Mike Lynch, 59, and his daughter Hannah, 18, were among those on board the doomed vessel when it plummeted to the bottom of the Mediterranean.
TG/RAINEWSHaunting pictures show the aftermath of the Bayesian’s sinking[/caption]
The Bayesian’s interior pictured before it sank 10 months agoTG/RAINEWSChilling pictures showed the extent of the ship’s damage nearly a year after it sank[/caption]
Darren FletcherTech tycoon Mike Lynch and his daughter Hannah died in the horror accident[/caption]
The new photographs reveal the watery grave of the tragic entrepreneur’s yacht.
A ruined reception area holds soaked furniture scattered across one side of the dilapidated room.
Waterlogged armchairs and pillows thrown all over the eerie compartment sit next to ghastly tables which have been soaked under water for the last 10 months.
The once sumptuous interior now rotten with grime is a harrowing reminder of the tragic day on August 19 2024 when the ship sank in just 16 minutes after being hit by a violent downburst.
The freak accident also took the lives of banker Jonathan Bloomer, 70, and his wife Judy Bloomer, 71, as well as US lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife Neda Morvillo, and Canadian-Antiguan chef Recaldo Thomas.
A further 15 people were rescued following the ship’s horror plummet.
Last week, chilling pictures showed the Bayesian resurface for the first time in nearly a year as bystanders watched one of Europe’s biggest cranes lift the yacht up from 150ft below the water.
The Bayesian was then transported about 15 miles along the coast to the port of Termini Imerese.
The multimillion-pound vessel was pulled onto a specially made steel cradle at the port.
It is currently being examined by investigators, who are trying to work out what caused it to sink so rapidly.
Italian builders insisted the ship was virtually unsinkable and suggested the crew may have been at fault.
Speculation circulated that someone could have left a hatch open during the storm.
But after it was hauled up last week, investigators found every hatch was shut tight.
After examining the sinking of the 180ft Bayesian off Sicily last year, investigators now say the ship was knocked over by “extreme wind” and could not recover.

And they confirmed the vessel’s critical weakness was that the ship was vulnerable to wind.
An interim report by the Marine Accident Investigation Branch said the yacht had a “vulnerability” to lighter winds but the owner and crew would not have known.
It added it had “limited verified evidence” as the criminal probe inItalyhad restricted its access.
Italian prosecutors are conducting a criminal investigation into the yacht’s sudden sinking.
They are probing the ship’s skipper New Zealand national James Cutfield, Brit chief engineer Tim Parker Eaton, and deckhand Matthew Griffiths, for potential manslaughter and causing a shipwreck.
Inside the Bayesian's final 16 minutes
By Ellie Doughty, Foreign News Reporter
Data recovered from the Bayesian’s Automatic Identification System (AIS) breaks down exactly how it sank in a painful minute-by-minute timeline.
At 3.50am on Monday August 19 the Bayesian began to shake “dangerously” during a fierce storm, Italian outlet Corriere revealed.
Just minutes later at 3.59am the boat’s anchor gave way, with a source saying the data showed there was “no anchor left to hold”.
After the ferocious weather ripped away the boat’s mooring it was dragged some 358 metres through the water.
By 4am it had began to take on water and was plunged into a blackout, indicating that the waves had reached its generator or even engine room.
Robcornelis Maria Huijben Uiben, 39, died when working 160ft below the ocean alongside other workers – just days after recovery operations began.
This prompted some locals to believe that the sunken ship is “cursed”.
Floating cranes, remote-controlled robots, and specialist divers amongst other marine experts were brought in to recover the vessel.
Billionaire Dr Lynch was celebrating being cleared of a massive fraud over the sale of Autonomy to computer giant Hewlett-Packard in 2011 when the Bayesian went down.

GettyLewis O’Brien is attracting interest from across the Championship this summer[/caption]
Forest want £8million O’Brien, a figure that could cool the interest of those monitoring him.
O’Brien shone on loan at Swansea last season, where he made 16 Championship appearances after making the switch in the winter window.
But his eye-catching performances may have worked against him as Forest now chase a bigger fee big fee.
Hull have already launched an approach at £5m and may up their offer to land him.
O’Brien is in the last year of his deal at Forest having joined the club back in 2022.
His time at The City Ground has been a frustrating one, making just 17 first-team appearances since arriving from Huddersfield Town.
Instead, O’Brien has had to settle for minutes elsewhere – heading on loan to four separate clubs since his move.
Those temporary switches have included spells in the Championship with Middlesbrough and Swansea, as well as two forays to the USA with MLS clubs LA FC and DC United.

O’Brien left the door open for a return to Swansea at the end of last season.
He said: “I have really enjoyed my time here. It’s never out of the question [returning], but sometimes it’s not in my hands, especially having to go back to my parent club.
“We will see what the summer holds. It’s never say never really.”
Meanwhile Swans manager Alan Sheehan also made it clear he would love O’Brien back in South Wales.
He said: “The effect he has had on the place, he has been exceptional. I cannot speak highly enough about him and I make no secret of that.
“If he is available, should you try to re-sign him? I think that’s quite an obvious answer.”

AN URGENT warning has been issued to Irish holidaymakers over record-breaking heat sweeping across Europe.
Irish holiday hotspots, Spain, Portugal, France and Italy, have been placed under an urgent weather alert for scorching temperatures as Europe suffers rising temperatures this weekend.
Many sunshine countries in Europe is suffering an record-breaking heatwaveGETTY_HUBWarnings has been issued for many countriesFacebookSpain and Portugal suffer temperatures going up to a whopping 42 degreesFacebook
It comes as weather expert Alan O’Reily from Carlow Weather revealed that the majority of the European countries are suffering “real heat” as Ireland and most of the United Kingdom miss out on it.
Taking to social media, he said: “Mild and humid here but we are just missing out the real heat as the temperatures at 5pm Saturday across Europe show with over 40c inland in parts of Spain.”
The map also shows that Italy has reached up to a whopping 36 degrees, while Portugal saw 39 degrees, and France ranged from 20 to 37 degrees.
The majority of European countries experienced hot temperatures of 25 to 30 degrees, with Scandinavia ranging from 15 to 24 degrees.
While the temperatures reach a high of 15 to 20 degrees in Ireland, the Southern region of the United Kingdom suffers temperatures between 24 and 30 degrees.
However, the heat wave conditions are expected to worsen tomorrow, with the conditions at their peak.
Spain’s State Meteorological Agency, AEMET, issued an urgent warning for the country over the major heat wave, which is set to last until Tuesday, July 1.
They revealed that the heat wave originated from the African continent and has extended across their territory, which will lead to a “gradual increase in temperature”.
They added: “This increase will be reinforced by the arrival of a warm, dry mass of Saharan origin across the western peninsula, bringing some haze beginning Sunday afternoon.
“As a result, very high and persistent temperatures are expected, both during the day and at night, which could pose a risk to exposed and/or vulnerable people.”
Tomorrow, the temperatures are expected to exceed 38 degrees across the southwest region, across the northern plateau, the eastern part of the southern plateau and the Jucar and Segura valleys.
And temperatures may reach between 40 and 42 degrees in the Guadalquivir, Genil, Guadiana, Tajo, and Ebro valleys.
The warning includes popular sunshine spots in Marbella, Malaga, Sevilla, the Canary Islands, Ibiza and Palma.
WARNINGS FOR PORTUGAL, FRANCE & ITALY
Several warnings have also been issued separately for Portugal, France, and Italy due to the ongoing heat wave, with advice and tips for following.
Portugal urged people to stay in cool or air-conditioned environments for at least two to three hours a day, avoid direct exposure to the sun, especially during midday when it’s at its peak.
Using sunscreen with a factor of 30 or higher is recommended; ensure to reapply it every two hours and after swimming at the beach or pool.
France is expected to reach 35 to 38 degrees locally and up to 39 degrees inland tomorrow, making the nights even more unsettled.
A severe weather alert has been issued for everyone due to the potential heat stroke.
KEEPING SAFE IN HOT WEATHER
ALTHOUGH many people enjoy warm weather, heatwaves can cause heat exhaustion and heatstroke in the elderly, young children, and other vulnerable groups.
The HSE has issued advice for people who are experiencing very hot weather.
And the health bosses stressed the importance of staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water to ensure you do not experience dehydration.
When inside, the HSE advised:
Turn off lights and appliances not in use as they generate heat
Close windows that face the sun during the day, and open them at night when the temperature drops
Close curtains in rooms that get morning or afternoon sun
Sprinkle water over your skin, or keep a damp cloth on the back of your neck
Use an electric fan (but only if temperature is below 35C)
When outside:
Avoid going out during the hottest part of the day if possible (11am to 3pm)
Wear light and loose-fitting clothing that covers your skin
Wear a wide brimmed hat and sunglasses
Regularly apply a broad-spectrum (UVA and UVB) water-resistant sunscreen to skin that is not covered
Stay in the shade
Elderly people, people who regularly take medicine, those suffering from chronic diseases or those with mental health troubles are at risk.
People are urged to drink water several times a day and continue to eat normally; they are also encouraged to stay indoors during the hottest hours and stay cool in an air-conditioned place for 2-3 hours a day.
Italy issued a major red alert for 21 cities this weekend, including the capital, Rome, and popular cities such as Milan and Venice.
People are also advised not to go outdoors between 11am and 6pm and seek shelter in air-conditioned public places.
In Venice, the temperatures have hit a whopping 31 degrees but have been reported to feel 35 degrees due to the humidity.
FURTHER WARNINGS FOR EUROPE
While Albanian firefighters fought Thursday to contain at least eight fires after flames damaged dozens of homes in the country’s south last weekend, authorities in Croatia, Bosnia, and Serbia also issued health warnings throughout the Adriatic.
Each warning has been issued through their official government website, and the locals and tourists are urged to follow their local authorities’ advice to stay safe during the heatwave.
Weather agencies in Greece have also issued a warning for the islands, as temperatures are set to reach over 40 degrees, including Athens.
Strong winds, dryness, and high temperatures associated with climate change have made the nation more susceptible to summer fires in recent years.
Firefighters reported Friday that a forest fire that had prompted evacuations in the Athens area was under control, but they cautioned that the city and the northern Aegean islands were at high risk of fire due to the intense heat.

WHEN you spend long summer days in the garden, keeping pesky flies and mosquitos at bay is a top priority.
Fortunately, there are many great repellent options available if you’re tired of the constant buzzing by your ears.
GettyCloseup of a housefly with its reflection in a glass window[/caption]
tiktok/@hannahtuite2One woman documented how the plant instantly trapped a fly[/caption]
tiktok/@hannahtuite2Fellow shoppers can snap up this plant for as little as £6.99 from Tesco[/caption]
However, for pest control that also makes your outdoor space look better, it’s worth considering adding a special plant that will kill the unwelcome visitors.
Most of us have heard that adding basil or rosemary to the greenery works wonders.
But turns out, there’s another plant worth snapping up from your local Tesco – the Venus Fly Trap.
The ultimate natural pest control is this carnivorous plant that captures pesky insects and spidersin its claw-like, clamshell-shaped leaves.
Once the pest has been trapped, the plant snaps them shut, and then “eats” its unsuspecting prey by releasing digestive enzymes.
While these plants are certainly fascinating and entertaining to watch, the Venus Fly Trap requires rather specific conditions.
For best results, you should plant it outside for full sun – however, if that’s not an option, you can keep it on a sunny windowsill with an additional artificial light nearby.
The fly-munching trap also likes wet soil, meaning if in a pot, its roots must always be sitting in water.
As the plant can’t handle hard water that comes from most taps in the UK, it’s strongly advised to keep it hydrated with distilled or clean rainwater.
If the trap is unable to catch food on its own, green-fingered Brits should keep it fed with insects, blood worms, or fish food.
Keen to see whether this chemical-free solution works? Shoppers can snap up Venus Fly Trap in a Tin from Tesco for just £6.99, order it from Amazon for £13.99 or buy it from their local B&Q on sale for £16.35.
One person who was recently amazed by how well the plant worked was Irish lass and TikToker Hannah Tuite – her plant caught a fly just an hour after purchasing it.
”Wasn’t expecting this to work, let alone so quick,” she told fellow social media users in the now-viral video.
Why do flies come out in summer?
Flies are present all year round, but all of a sudden when summer comes, they are just EVERYWHERE!
The main contributing factors are the breeding cycle of flies and the soaring temperatures.
Insects are cold blooded and in summer, when their body temperature rises from the external heat, they become more active.
The hotter weather also let’s them seek out cool moist spots, like inside your home, to escape from the sweltering heat and to lay their eggs.
House Fly eggs take around 20 hours to hatch, but when the temperature rises above 37 degrees, can hatch within 8 hours!
In extreme hot weather the eggs can mature from larvae to adult fly in as little as four days.
The average lifespan of a housefly is 21 days, so each female can lay up to 900 eggs during the summer months!
However, if you’re on the lookout for a less barbaric option, the stunning lavender works a treat too – and it will leave your garden smelling amazing.
Although lavender is one of the most beloved scents for humans, flies can’t stand the scent of it.
Therefore, if you plant the fragrant flower near the entrance to your home or on the windowsill, it will act as a barrier against flies.
Anyone wanting to try out this simple hack won’t have to fork out much, as Aldi is launching a lavender plant for just £3.79.
The bargain bloom will be available at stores across the UK from June 12, so flower fans had better set their alarms to be in with the chance of snagging the product.
