Mum accused of deliberately getting pregnant in bid to avoid jail time after smuggling steroids into husband’s prison

A JUDGE accused a mum of deliberately getting pregnant in a bid to avoid jail after smuggling drugs into her husband’s prison.

Tanya Parker helped get steroids, mobile phones and tobacco into HMP Birmingham in 2019.

The mum-of-four helped her husband David Bradley smuggle them in while he was in jail himself.

The couple, from Coventry, appeared at Birmingham Crown Court and were previously warned they likely faced being jailed straight after.

Cathlyn Orchard, defending 36-year-old Parker, revealed to the court that she was between six to seven weeks pregnant.

Astonished Judge Dean Kershaw replied: “Are you seriously telling me that? Knowing the position these two are in, she’s pregnant again?

“She understands there’s something called contraception, having a child knowing the position both of them are in,” BirminghamLive reported.

The barrister said: “I haven’t gone into that detail. She is not wanting to be pregnant and she is conflicted in saying that because she is going to keep the child. It couldn’t have come at a worse time.”

Judge Kershaw responded: “It all smacks to me it is another thing she is mentioning to avoid custody.

“It maybe regrettable but let’s apply common sense.”

However the judge decided not to jail Parker.

Having admitted two offences of conspiring to convey prohibited articles into prison she was sentenced to an 18-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work and 30 days of rehabilitation activity.

Judge Kershaw said Bradley, aged 34, had abused his partner’s loyalty.

Bradley, who admitted the same two offences as his wife as well as a charge relating to having a phone in prison, was sentenced to 24 months suspended for 18 months.

He was ordered to carry out 160 hours of unpaid work and 30 days of rehabilitation activity.

Danny O’Donoghue reveals bizarre reason The Script almost MISSED their Glastonbury spot

Danny O'Donoghue of The Script performing at Glastonbury Festival.
GLASTONBURY, ENGLAND – JUNE 28: Danny O’Donoghue of the Script performs during day four of Glastonbury festival 2025 at Worthy Farm, Pilton on June 28, 2025 in Glastonbury, England. Established by Michael Eavis in 1970, Glastonbury has grown into the UK’s largest music festival, drawing over 200,000 fans to enjoy performances across more than 100 stages. In 2026, the festival will take a fallow year, a planned pause to allow the Worthy Farm site time to rest and recover. (Photo by Shane Anthony Sinclair/Getty Images)

THE SCRIPT played all their hits when they returned to Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage for the first time in 16 years – but they almost didn’t make it at all.

Sitting down with Bizarre before their set on Saturday, frontman Danny O’Donoghue admitted he’d been on a speedboat ride in Cardiff the day before, which left him battered and bruised.

He explained: “It was kick-ass.

“For about two hours, I think they were trying their best to get us to crash and not show up to Glastonbury.

“My knees are in bits.

“He was trying to do doughnuts and then coming back out.

“We left the sea more than twice.

“We went right up and bang, smashed down.”

Danny, who paid an emotional tribute on stage to their late bandmate Mark Sheehan, celebrated afterwards into the early hours.

But ahead of the performance, he said: “I thought I’d be a bit more nervous.

“Glastonbury is like Woodstock.

“The first time, I remember feeling too small for the stage.

“The stage was huge.

“Now, coming back, the stage looks quite small.

“But that’s what 17 years of touring will do for you.”

But their focus is on a follow-up to 2024’s album Satellites. Danny said: “We’re doing a show in August then heading to the States to work with the writers from The Man Who Can’t Be Moved and Hall of Fame and pretty much everything we’ve written.”

There was a five-year gap between their last two albums but I don’t think we’ll have such a wait this time around.

CHARLI’S ON FIRE

CHARLI XCX delivered one of The Other Stage’s best headline shows on Saturday.

Dressed in tiny black shorts, a matching bra and leather boots, the singer smashed her way through her Brat album, as well as having a cheeky glass of wine during the 75-minute set.

She filled the stage with fire and even rain while her pal Gracie Abrams was on the big screen doing Charli’s Apple dance.

Charli told fans: “I have a heart of stone – but Glastonbury, this is special.”

She later declared her love for fiancée George Daniels, The 1975’s drummer, and praised Block9 as the “best place” on Worthy Farm.

The area, which includes gay club NYC Downlow, has been the place to party for everyone from Zoe Ball to Matt Smith.

SIR ROD STEWART lived up to his legends billing by overcoming a bout of flu and delivering an awesome set on Sunday afternoon.

Rod worked his way through hit after hit after cutting his current 28-song tour list down by eight.

He was desperate to fit in as many tracks as possible and made every break sparse when speaking to the crowd and made it clear he was just there to give his fans what they wanted — with shouts of “next” every time he wanted to hurry the set along.

By eleventh song Young Hearts the 200,000-plus crowd at the Pyramid Stage were on song, with Rod’s first ten tracks appearing to be relatively easy work vocally given how ill he was just seven days ago.

His energy levels were high, with the British superstar gyrating and dancing around the extensive stage with ease.

Those who’ve not been lucky enough to catch him on tour yet got to taste the full force of his band – with his brilliant saxophonist stealing the show alongside Rod’s six brilliant female singers and string players.

The affection and appreciation for Rod feels for his band spilled into my exclusive chat ahead of his set and on stage he made sure this set was just as much theirs as it was his.

A quick change into a bright pink suit after If You Want My Body and Rod was ready to go – launching into I Don’t Want To Talk About It before inviting my favourite Mick Hucknall on stage to sing If You Don’t Know Me By Now before Ronnie Wood came on for Faces hit Stay With Me.

Lulu then joined them for Hot Legs – with her saying as she walked off stage: “Rod Stewart’s the man.”

Too right he is.

During his closing song Sailing, Worthy Farm was swaying in near perfect timing – with many a tad out of rhythm thanks to the soaring heat and booze.

Rod however was on song and after taking one final bow on that hallowed stage, turning his back to show his custom-made Celtic shirt, he bid the crowd farewell.

They don’t make many like Rod. And that felt incredibly special.

DOECHII STARS IN STRIPES

DOECHII’s set will live long in the memory and not just for her pin-striped knee-high socks, slip of a kilt and tiny bra top.

The rapper’s West Holts session on Saturday served as an introduction to all the fans who have found her this year, thanks to hits Anxiety and Denial Is A River.

The US star peppered her set with snippets of the Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, Missy Elliott and even Daft Punk.

RITA ORA led the stars partying into the early hours in Block 9 – the festival’s wild, immersive nightlife district – with husband Taika Waititi.

The pair had plenty of energy after being driven around all day in an air conditioned four-by-four.

The Hot Right Now singer was seen dancing and mingling with stars including actor Taron Egerton.

Not so lucky, Jack Whitehall got separated from his pals and was told there was “no more room” in the VIP bar they were in.

Tilda Swinton was in VIP the bar with Maisie Smith – who must have been boiling in a massive faux-fur coat, while Lily Allen was overheard telling a pal: “I feel so great, it’s just this feeling.”

Same, Lily. Same.

JAMES NORTON fans were shocked to see him stomping through hospitality camping with bare feet on Sunday morning.

My mole told me: “He was carrying his shoes and seemed in a hurry to get back from the toilets to his tent.

“People were doing double takes – and no one could work out why he’d taken his trainers off.”

Maybe he’s doing a Chris Martin, who is known for going barefoot because he likes to feel “grounded”.

CRUZ BECKHAM was living his best life – after renting out a posh Winnebago for himself and girlfriend Jackie Apostel.

An onlooker said: “While most people are stuck in stuffy tents, Cruz had a far fancier stay and was in one of the Winnies.

“The bigger ones cost almost £40,000 to rent.

“He spent Saturday enjoying some of the music acts with Jackie and stayed out of the VIP areas to hang out with the crowds.”

‘Lots of fight’ – RTE GAA pundits react to Sean O’Shea’s ‘very interesting’ interview after Kerry dethrone Armagh

SEAN O’Shea made it clear Kerry’s panel drew motivation from how they were largely “written off” ahead of upsetting Armagh.

The Kingdom showed 2025 may see them rule Gaelic football once again with a statement performance while dumping the All-Ireland champions out at the quarter-final stage.

Lee Keegan acknowledged it was a ‘very interesting’ post-match interview[/caption]

O’Shea led the way from the start and wound up being their top scorer with a haul of 12 points.

Afterwards during his Player of the Match interview he made a point of how their dominant second half showing only came as a surprise to those on the outside looking in.

The Kenmare clubman emphasized: “We were written off. People weren’t giving us a hope, even down home (in Kerry).

“But we’ve a really tight group. Nobody knows what goes inside there in our dressing room. As fellas we love each other. We’re a really tight group and I think that showed there today.

“We’d asked the Kerry crowd to get behind us today and they really did help us out there during that second half.”

He was then asked had their more fringe players proven they’re up to the task of being potential All-Ireland winners.

The three-time All-Star noted that today’s contest enforced another case of “next man up” on them when star defender Tom O’Sullivan was forced off with a muscle injury.

He added: “People have probably talked about our squad and said that we don’t have strength in depth.

“But we showed today that we do. Look at Evan Looney coming in for Tom O’Sullivan after 10 or 15 minutes.

“In only his third or fourth Championship game I thought he took it to like a duck to water. Nothing phased him.

“So we’ve full faith in our squad, we see the standards in it every night in training. We just can’t wait to get two more weeks out of them.”

When the camera threw back to Joanne Cantwell and the punditry team of Lee Keegan, Tomás Ó Sé and Derry midfielder Conor Glass, they were struck by its forthright nature.

While it wasn’t exactly Kieran Donaghy “Well Joe Brolly what do you think about that” levels of score-settling, host Cantwell noted how fired up he clearly was.

KINGDOM COMING

She summarised: “Lots of fight from Sean O’Shea, not only on the pitch but in his words as well.”

Mayo great Keegan then chipped in: “That was a very interesting interview I have to say. Interesting hearing say they’d extra energy from morning to night.

“And they clearly threw off the shackles. But as well as that their work-rate and intensity (was the number one factor).

“Enda McGinly on commetary was right to call it a statement performance.

“They did everything right today. To score 32 points that is some return in a game like that. So listen, it was a deserving victory and he in particular was awesome.”

Kerry will face another familiar Ulster foe as they were drawn against Tyrone while Donegal and Meath will square off in the other semi-final after the Royals knocked out 2024 runners-up Galway.

Those games will play out across July 12 and 13 with exact fixture details to be confirmed by the CCCC on Monday.

FAI chief ‘concerned’ over shock ‘whistleblower’ email allegations against Irish football officials amid ‘sexting’ claim

FAI chief David Courell is “greatly concerned” over allegations made about Irish football officials in a whistleblower email.

The anonymous message from someone calling themselves “truthfootball” was sent to several key figures in the FAI as well as the Sunday Independent newspaper.

A number of allegations were made, with the sender warning of a “wider culture that remains toxic”, despite attempts to clean up the FAI in recent years.

One allegation claims that a current FAI official was caught up in a sexting scandal at their non-FAI job.

It’s alleged that this person sent unsolicited photos of his genitals to a colleague, with the employer then investigating the claim.

FAI Chief Executive Courell has written to everyone who received the email.

His email said: “I can assure you that the FAI is greatly concerned about the information contained in this email and is taking steps to deal with the matter.”

The FAI has suffered scandals in recent years, including financial issues under former CEO John Delaney and allegations of mistreatment of female players by coaches that was detailed in an RTE documentary.

Huge pop star spotted watching Pulp at Glastonbury before own headline show – would you have spotted her?

A HUGE pop star was spotted watching Pulp at Glastonbury before her own headline show.

The group took to the Pyramid Stage after it was revealed that they were the highly-anticipated surprise act.

The Britpop icons, fronted by Jarvis Cocker, had ramped up speculation for their set by not appearing on the line-up.

Before the likes of Raye and Neil Young took to the stage, a mystery act was due to perform in a slot, which was mysteriously billed as ‘Patchwork’.

It had long been speculated the secret act was actually Pulp, and a piece of their equipment appeared backstage seemed to confirm their presence on Worthy Farm.

As they performed in front of a huge crowd, it seems that a fellow headline act was hidden in the audience.

As Olivia Rodrigo made her way to Worthy Farm ahead of her own performance, she was seen to fully immerse herself in the Glastonbury spirit.

She was spotted sitting on her boyfriend Louis Partridge’s shoulders singing her heart out as Pulp performed their hit track, Common People.

The Good For You singer was spotted in a low-key monochrome vest and large shades as she waved her arms about.

She paired the look with leopard print shorts, white over-the-knee socks and hunter wellies.

The smash-hit singer was spotted by BBC Radio 1 Breakfast host Greg James, who was seen singing along to the act.

He took to his Instagram story as he partied with his pal, fellow Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens.

Greg posted the behind-the-scenes video selfie to his followers on social media along with the caption: “Watching Pulp with Olivia Rodrigo.”

In the clip, he jokingly asked his fans: “Who’s that?” as other members of the audience appeared to be blissfully unaware about her presence.

Olivia last performed at Worthy Farm on The Other Stage back in 2022.

As she prepared to take to the Pyramid Stage, she would have seen the band make a cheeky swipe at fellow Glastonbury performer, Charli XCX.

Glastonbury 2025 - confirmed acts so far

TICKETS to the 2025 festival sold out in just minutes before some of the acts were even confirmed. Here is who has been confirmed so far.

Confirmed headliners:

  • The 1975 will take to the Pyramid Stage on Friday.
  • Neil Young will headline the festival for the second time after his last set in 2009 on Saturday after RAYE makes her return.
  • Charli xcx will headline the Other Stage on Saturday night.
  • On Sunday, Olivia Rodrigo is due to belt out her hits for her first appearance while Rod Stewart will perform in the legends slot.
  • More acts to appear on the Other Stage include Loyle Carner and The Prodigy.
  • Doechii will make her Glastonbury debut on the West Holts Stage on Saturday night.
  • Other names confirmed include Noah Kahan, Alanis Morissette, Gracie Abrams, Busta Rhymes, Lola Young, Brandi Carlile, Myles Smith, En Vogue, Amaarae, Cymande, Shaboozey, Osees and Gary Numan.

At 6.15pm, the Pyramid stage filled with nearly 100 people dressed in black and white ponchos as the band was finally revealed.

Before Charli, 32, headlined the Other Stage, a screen behind the band flashed the words “Are you ready for…. Pulp Summer.”

The message was a direct reference to the ‘Brat Summer’ trend that the pop singer celebrated last year thanks to her smash-hit album.

When the message appeared, the on-stage crowd parted, revealing the band led by Cocker.

After the tracks, Cocker joked: “We’re Pulp. Sorry for the people that were expecting Patchwork.

“Did you know we were going to play?” he asked, and when the crowd loudly declared “yes” he responded, “How? Psychic? Good.”

This comes after Olivia celebrated a sell-out gig at the BST festival in Hyde Park.

The Drivers Licence singer sent fans wild as she brought out Ed Sheeran for a highly-publicised cameo.

Big Brother star ordained as a deacon after turning to the church – 20 years on from finishing runner-up on reality show

A BIG Brother legend has finally been ordained as a deacon after swapping fame for the church.

Series seven runner-up Glyn Wise, 37, has been working towards this moment for five years after time spent in China made him reconsider his life.

Glyn found fame on the reality show back in 2006[/caption]

Last month he graduated from Bible College where he spent three years studying for a theology degree. Five weeks later, he is officially a vicar.

Today, he confirmed the news, writing on Instagram: “This is Rev Glyn – I’m coming to get you!

“Day 1 as an official Rev! Hard work, praying & studying has paid off – ‘With God all things are possible’ Math 19: 26.

“Looking forward to follow in the footsteps of the disciples in the book of Acts, spreading the good word across the nations!”

Glyn shared a video from his ordination ceremony inside St Asaph Cathedral, North Wales, as he was made a member of the clergy.

The work of a deacon focuses on spreading and serving the Church in poor and marginalised communities.

Glyn’s next stage of training to become a priest will see him based in the Aled Mission Area around Old Colwyn and Betws yn Rhos, according to the diocese of St Asaph.

He has already completed a 770km pilgrimage to the iconic Santiago de Compostela in Spain, believed to be the burial site of the apostle St James, as part of his faith journey.

DIVINE INTERVENTION

Religion has always played a big part in Glyn‘s life and previously told how he “prayed my way onto Big Brother”.

Speaking on This Morning in 2022, he said: “I grew up in a religious family and I prayed my way onto Big Brother.

“I was asking God can you please just get me into Big Brother.

“I was 16 thinking there must be so much more to life, life is so predestined, school then university and I wanted something so different for me.

“Big Brother was what I wanted and it changed everything.”

Previously, he told how he counts Hollywood actor and Wrexham AFC co-owner Ryan Reynolds as one of the congregation at his local church in North Wales.

After dropping out of the limelight, Glyn went on to have a normal life, heading to university two years and becoming a teacher.

Big Brother winners from over the years

Since launching in 2000, reality TV juggernaut Big Brother has crowned several champions over the years. Let's take a look back at some of them.

Series 1 – Craig Phillips

Series 2 Brian Dowling

Series 3 Kate Lawler

Series 4 – Cameron Stout

Series 5 Nadia Almada

Series 6 Anthony Hutton

Series 7 Pete Bennett

Series 8 – Brian Belo

Series 9 Rachel Rice

Series 10 Sophie Reade

Series 11 – Josie Gibson

Series 12Aaron Allard-Morgan

Series 13 Luke Anderson

Series 14 – Sam Evans

Series 15Helen Wood

Series 16Chloe Wilburn

Series 17 – Jason Burrill

Series 18 Isabelle Warburton

Series 19Cameron Cole

Series 20Jordan Sangha

He then decided to go travelling and ended up working in Shanghai, China, where he “got rid of the Glyn from Big Brother tag”.

With Christianity growing at a massive scale across Asia, Glyn embraced his faith and decided to train as a vicar once he got home in 2020.

He previously opened up on what his course entailed and said: “I’m learning theology, going into depth about the Bible and learning how to cope with people, because you’re not only the vicar, you’re someone to listen, you’re a psychiatrist, you have to help sort people’s lives out and spread the good word.

“So there’s a concoction of stuff that you need to learn before you become a vicar.”

Despite sporting a very different look now, Glyn says he still gets Big Brother fans coming up to him in church — and he will often weave his past into his sermons.

He said: “I’ve got a beard now, I’ve shaved my head, I’m a man not a boy, but yeah, there’s conversations about Big Brother that still come up. People come to church and are like, ‘I really loved you when you cooked that egg’.

“And I’m like, ‘Can we talk about Jesus Christ now, the Saviour?’.

“But I feel like when you’ve lived a good life, you’ve got a lot to talk about when you’re up in the pulpit doing a sermon.”

Huge chart-topping pop star, 28, goes public with new man at Glastonbury sparking fury from his ex

LORDE is tipped to top the charts this Friday with her new album Virgin but that’s not the only thing that has raised her spirits.

I can reveal she has fallen for the record’s producer Jim E-Stack – and went public with him at Glastonbury.

But his ex-girlfriend has now hit out, revealing that her six and a half year relationship came to an end when he started working with the Royals singer on the project.

Lorde played a surprise set on Friday morning and got close to him on stage as he performed with her.

Then in the evening, he had his arm around her while they watched headliners The 1975, before partying until well after 4am.

It came just as his singer ex Kacy Hill made a dig at him on TikTok, to the soundtrack of Lorde’s single Man of the Year, which he worked on.

She wrote: “Let’s hear it for the man who ended a 6.5 year relationship while making a girl’s album then started dating her.”

A source said: “Lorde is really happy with Jim after they bonded making the album.

“But there was no overlap and she was very respectful.”
