THOUSANDS are set to qualify for a huge publicly funded medical treatment from today.

He said: “Today, we are expanding eligibility for publicly funded IVF.

“This announcement means those already with a child can now access the State scheme.

“A really positive development for those wishing to expand their family.”

Currently, the HSE offers three types of specialty treatment.

The treatments are:

• Intrauterine insemination (IUI)
• IVF
• Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)

You can get free IUI, IVF or ICSI through the HSE – though your GP or consultant must refer you to a regional fertility hub.

Here, they must recommend the treatment as long as you and your partner meet all the access criteria.

They may recommend IUI, IVF or ICSI if:

• you or your partner do not get pregnant after having other fertility treatment
• tests show this is the treatment you need

They may also be able to refer you to a private clinic that has been approved for the treatment.

But you cannot get this treatment for free through the HSE if you need donor eggs or sperm.

The access criteria for free IUI, IVF or ICSI treatment have to do with:

• residency
• age
• previous IVF treatment
• children
• number of parents
• relationship length
• sterilisation
• body mass index (BMI)
• lifestyle

You must be a resident of Ireland and aged 18 or older.

When your GP or consultant referred you to the regional fertility hub, you must be:

• under 41 if you’re a woman
• under 60 if you’re a man

TERMS OF TREATMENTS

You can get treatment if:

• you have not had free IVF through the HSE
• you had no more than 1 round of privately funded IVF before and have no unused embryos still in storage
• you started tests for IVF but have not started taking IVF medicine

You cannot have more than 1 living child between you.

This includes children you:

• adopted
• are the biological parent of
• plan to be parent of in a surrogacy arrangement
• are non-birth mother to in a same-sex female relationship

And only two people can plan to be the parents to the child, who must be in a relationship for at least one year.

You must never have had a sterilisation procedure to prevent pregnancy including a vasectomy or blocking or sealing your fallopian tubes (tubal ligation).

Women must have a BMI between 18.5 and 30, and if you’re planning to be the birth mother you must drink no more than one or two standard drinks up to two times a week.

If you plan to use your sperm for fertility treatment, you must drink no more than 3 to 4 standard drinks and no more than 10 standard drinks a week.

CONSULTANTS RECOMMENDATION

You must not smoke or have smoked in the last 3 months and must not take recreational drugs or have taken any for at least 3 months.

And even if you meet this criteria, your consultant at the regional fertility hub will have to recommend this treatment.

If they do, you:

• choose the clinic you want to use from the private fertility clinics we have approved
• must sign a consent form to say you are happy for a referral to be made to the clinic you choose and that your details can be shared with them

If your consultant recommends IVF, IUI or ICSI and you meet all the access criteria, you can get this treatment for free through the HSE.

Each couple can get 1 round of IVF or ICSI for free.

JONNY EVANS has called time on his legendary playing career to take a huge new role at Manchester United.

Evans, who’s wrapping up his UEFA A Licence, will work closely with director of football Jason Wilcox and the academy boss to make sure United’s rising stars get the best opportunities, both on loan and at Old Trafford.

The move marks the official end of a glittering playing career, with Evans making 241 appearances for the Red Devils.

During his time at United, he won three Premier League titles, a Champions League, and a whole host of cups.

In total, Evans made 536 senior appearances for five clubs and earned 107 caps for Northern Ireland.

In 2023, he was awarded an MBE for his services to football.

The centre-back posted an emotional message to fans, saying: “I retire with pride, not sadness and with massive thanks to everyone who’s supported me along the way.

“The fans have been incredible and I’ll be forever grateful for their backing.

“I’m excited to help the next generation of talent at United.

PIERS Morgan’s interview-style talk show has reached a major milestone.

His Piers Morgan Uncensored show has just hit 4 million subscribers on YouTube, which his bosses say cements it as the “world’s most influential news and current affairs online show.”

First launching in April 2022, after Piers stormed out of his lucrative ITV gig as Good Morning Britain co-host, the show also recently passed 1 billion views since it started three years ago.

The show airs on YouTube and involves Piers interviewing people about controversial issues.

It was originally broadcast on TalkTV from April 25 2022 until February 8 2024.

Piers shared his theories as to why his talk show has been such a hit.

“There is no current affairs debate/interview show in the world that offers a platform to so many diverse opinions, or that is seeing faster-growing numbers on YouTube,” he said.

“These two things are not unconnected. We’re enjoying such huge subscriber growth because people, especially younger people, want to hear smart, intelligent debate between myriad different voices and then make their own minds up about issues.”

Piers Morgan Uncensored has hosted world-leaders from Donald Trump to Volodymyr Zelensky and Benjamin Netanyahu.

The host has interviewed everyone from Cristiano Ronaldo to Kevin Spacey, and influencers such as, Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro, Tucker Carlson, Mehdi Hasan and Megyn Kelly.

Podcast Joe Rogan had nothing but praise for Piers Morgan Uncensored.

“It’s very entertaining. It’s kind of genius in terms of engagement perspective,” he said.

Lindsey Bowers is the head of digital for the online show and revealed it has had a surge of followers in India, Pakistan and South Africa.

A FARMER has warned of a deadly plant growing on UK soil, after learning his new land was covered in the flower.

The farmer claims he has purchased the UK’s “deadliest” field after finding his new field littered with Hemlock.

The highly poisonous plant deadly to humans

Hemlock is a highly poisonous flowering plant which can be fatal to humans, even in small amounts.

The flower affects the body’s nervous system, eventually causing death by respiratory failure.

While the plant looks harmless, with umbrella-like clusters of white flowers, even the smallest amount can be enough to kill.

According to The Wildlife Trusts: “Hemlock has a repellent smell when its leaves are crushed, helping to ensure that accidental poisonings don’t occur very often – even livestock studiously avoid it.”

Farmer sends his warning

Upon discovering the plant in his new field, the farmer took to social media to warn his followers.

He said: “I have just bought a field to live in and I’ve realised it is full of poison.”

He continued by explaining that Hemlock is commonly mistaken for wild carrot.

But added: “Just eating any single part of this plant is enough to kill me.

“The amount of this you have to eat to die is realistically quite small.

“Four or five leaves, done. Game over.”

His advice was to mow the plants down and you will most likely be ok, but take care to not get any of the sap on your skin because it will blister.

The farmer concluded: “So, all in all, if you’ve got this stuff growing, be careful.”

Symptoms of Hemlock

Symptoms of Hemlock poisoning include sweating, vomiting, dilated pupils, dry mouth, rapid heartbeat and high blood pressure.

The plant is so poisonous that dead canes can remain toxic for up to three years.

SANIA Khan came to prominence by sharing her experience of divorce online, before she was tragically murdered by her estranged husband.

With ITV’s TikTok Murder Gone Viral documenting the sickening case, here’s everything you need to know about Sania.

Who was Sania Khan?

Sania was born in 1993 and was a first-generation child of Pakistani parents.

She grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee and went on to double major in psychology and women’s studies at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.

Sania had a love of photography and decided to use her creative streak to build a career.

She married Raheel Ahmed in June 2021, after they dated for five years.

Sania filed for divorce in December of the same year.

After deciding to open up on social media about her experience with marriage and divorce, Sania quickly began to gain a far-reaching following.

She also discussed online how domestic violence and divorce are taboo subjects in the South Asian community.

Sania, who went by geminigirl_099 on TikTok, posted videos about the stigma she felt from her family after divorcing Ahmed.

She wrote in one: “You think you can hurt me? My family members told me if I left my husband I would let Shaytan win, that I dress like a prostitute and if I move back to my hometown they’ll kill themselves.”

While another post of hers read: “Going through a divorce as a South Asian Woman feels like you failed at life sometimes.”

While she remained in Chicago, her husband moved to Georgia.

What happened to Sania Khan?

Sania was found by Chicago police in July 2022, a month before her divorce was set to be finalised.

She had been in the process of moving back to Chattanooga, before she was shot in the back of the head by Raheel.

Raheel was found with a handgun and a suicide note, before later being pronounced dead at Northwestern Hospital.

A GoFundMe campaign raised over $36,000 to pay for Sania’s funeral.

On July 24 2022, a candlelight vigil was held at Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences.

The Sania Khan Memorial Scholarship Fund was created to support female students who are looking to pursue a fine arts degree at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.
