Robbie Savage closing in on Macclesfield exit and could be replaced by Wayne Rooney’s little-known brother

FORMER Premier League midfielder Robbie Savage is on the verge of becoming the new manager of Forest Green Rovers.

Savage took over as head coach of Macclesfield last June, four years after becoming a board member of the re-launched club.

Under his guidance, the Silkmen won the Northern Premier League Premier Division and secured promotion to the National League North.

He subsequently penned a new two-year contract just last month.

However, the 50-year-old is already set to move on.

According to Sky Sports, Savage has agreed to become the new Forest Green manager.

The Welshman was at the club on Monday to finalise a deal, with the official announcement expected on Tuesday.

He replaces Steve Cotterill, who was dismissed on Thursday after failing to earn promotion from the National League.

In preparation for his move, Savage has allegedly resigned from his role as Macclesfield’s director of football.

However, he remains a part-owner of the club.

After he extended his managerial contract at Macclesfield last month, Savage explained: “It’s a club that’s close to my heart.

“What myself and Rob and the volunteers, the staff have all achieved: three promotions in four years, an FA trophy semi-final, record-breaking season last year.

“You know interest from other clubs, as Rob has alluded to, I just wanted to show everybody my commitment to this football club.

“It’s my future. For the next couple of years, it’s going to be here. It’s a project. It’s a journey. I can’t leave that dressing room.

“The lads have been spectacular, been amazing. Togetherness has been incredible. So I’m on that journey with them.”

John Rooney, the younger brother of Manchester United and England legend Wayne Rooney, is allegedly expected to take over as Macclesfield boss.

Rooney has spent the last two years as a player for the club.

Eighties movie star unrecognizable as she’s spotted in LA – can you guess who she is?

Yet Annette O’Toole left fans doing a double take as she showed off her unrecognisable appearance on a day away from the cameras.

She pulled on an oversized long-sleeve lilac top paired with green trousers, covering up in a pair of sunglasses.

The Superman star left her silver hair flowing over her shoulders and padded around Los Angeles in dark trainers.

She clutched her car keys in one hand and what appeared to be a dry cleaning slip in another.

Showing that – despite her A-List status – she’s just like the rest of us, Texas screen star Annette was spotted collecting her laundry.

Later on, she was seen with a black cross body bag and a camel-coloured coat after nipping back to her vehicle.

She currently plays mayor Hope McCrea in Virgin River, yet has had a stellar screen career beforehand.

The mum of two starred in Superman III alongside Christopher Reeve as well as in movies Cross My Heart and 48 Hours.

On the small screen, she has starred in Smallville and the TV adaptation of Stephen King tome It, as well as in Nash Bridges.

During her early film roles, her wavy brunette locks were on full display.

They reached past shoulder height, but the star has now embraced her natural color and a shorter cut.

In her recent snaps, she also went fresh-faced as opposed to made-up, showing off her natural beauty.

PERILS OF THE JOB

Annette, who is married to American actor and comedian Michael McKeen, recently opened up about feeling homesick after travelling around the globe with her job.

She told Hello! about her Virgin River role, which sees her shooting in Vancouver, Canada, and admitted she missed her family.

The star confessed: “Oh, many times – the whole time!

“That’s the hardest part about the show for me, it’s being away from my family because my husband works as well and he’s all over the place.

“So he’s in a different location and my kids are grown and all over the place.

“My mom is 99. She’s in LA, and that’s hard too because I’ve been concerned about her, but she has wonderful help and we do the best we can like everyone.

“We’re all in the same boat where we’re kind of split and trying to be in two places at once.”

Blow to Sky viewers as beloved TV feature vanishes – as devastated telly fans brand change ‘hostile’

SKY customers were left astonished after a beloved TV feature vanished in a huge blow to the viewer’s experience.

The company’s decision to remove the feature will impact the user experience going forward.

A major feature is now missing from Sky’s website[/caption]

The beauty of a TV guide is soon to be a thing of the past for Sky viewers, after the section on the website has been removed.

Change to the Sky user experience

Viewers started noticing a change to the website on June 18, when the usually obvious and simple to use TV guide, no longer appeared on the website.

What’s more, others realised that after using their pre-saved link to the page, automatically redirected to a different landing page.

As a result, viewers are no longer able to see what is upcoming in Sky’s programming schedule.

For many, the website TV Guide or EPG (Electronic Programme Guide) was a useful feature for viewers wanting to plan what they watched without impacting their TV-watching experience or needlessly turning their tele on.

Days of frustration ensued, with countless messages in community chats, the viewers questioning went unanswered.

Finally, on June 20, a Sky community manager explained to the disgruntled viewers the reason behind the decision.

Viewers were told about the change after days spent in limbo[/caption]

He said: “We want to confirm that the TV guide feature has been discontinued.

“We understand this may be an inconvenience, you can find alternative ways to browse and discover content via your Sky Box, Sky Stream, Sky Glass, Sky Go and other parts of the website.”

Viewers deem it a hostile change

But at what first felt like a user error or a website issue, Sky viewers are now left befuddled by the decision to remove the feature.

Members of the Sky Community were quick to share their thoughts, with one user writing: “Who’s stupid idea was it to get rid of the TV guide? WE WANT IT BACK!”

Another said: “Was the online EPG hurting anyone or getting in the way? No, it wasn’t.

The EPG is a long-standing fan-favourite feature which has now vanished[/caption]

“Was it a useful tool used by many on a daily basis? Yes, it was. Quite literally one of the stupidest decisions made by Sky in recent years.”

A third shared their frustration: “Not a great move, especially when it feels super hostile to those who still watch linear TV.”

It is a sentiment shared by long-standing Sky viewers, who had become accustomed to using the feature to enhance their watching experience.

Big change at Sky

The removal of the website EPG is just one in a long line of changes that viewers have had to deal with in a massive TV guide shake-up.

Sky recently decided to permanently close down two beloved TV channels, with viewers only given until July 1 to come to terms with the change.

Sky is undergoing major change behind the scenes, with huge scheduling changes[/caption]

It follows the addition of eight new live channels to Sky’s service, as well as a series of name changes to major channels and the move of 31 channels in April.

The removal of the website EPG, therefore, only adds to the confusion felt by viewers who can no longer use the feature to discover the new programming released by the provider.

Who was Raheel Ahmad?

Raheel Ahmad dated Sania Khan for five years before they decided to tie the knot in June 2021.

Sania’s friends said that Ahmad would have mental breakdowns and threaten to kill himself.

Months later in December 2021, Sania filed for divorce — just before Ahmad left Chicago and moved to Alpharetta, Georgia.

After deciding to open up on social media about her experience with marriage and divorce, Sania quickly began to gain a far-reaching following.

She also discussed online how domestic violence and divorce are taboo subjects in the South Asian community.

Sania, who went by geminigirl_099 on TikTok, posted videos about the stigma she felt from her family after divorcing Ahmed.

She wrote in one: “You think you can hurt me? My family members told me if I left my husband I would let Shaytan win, that I dress like a prostitute and if I move back to my hometown they’ll kill themselves.”

While another post of hers read: “Going through a divorce as a South Asian Woman feels like you failed at life sometimes.”

What did Raheel Ahmad do to Sania Khan?

In July 2022, just a month before the divorce was set to be finalised, Ahmad travelled from Georgia to Chicago.

One of his relatives reported him missing to the Alpharetta police, who contacted the Chicago police force.

Ahmad was found to have shot Sania in the back of the head at their home in Chicago.

Sania’s funeral was held shortly after on July 28, 2022.

A GoFundMe campaign had been launched to help fund the funeral and it raised $36,000.

What happened to Raheed Ahmad?

Ahmad was found with a gun and a suicide note on his person at the ex-couple’s Chicago home.

Domestic abuse - how to get help

DOMESTIC abuse can affect anyone - including men - and does not always involve physical violence.

Here are some signs that you could be in an abusive relationship:

  • Emotional abuse – Including being belittled, blamed for the abuse – gaslighting – being isolated from family and friends, having no control over your finances, what you where and who you speak to
  • Threats and intimidation – Some partners might threaten to kill or hurt you, destroy your belongings, stalk or harass you
  • Physical abuse – This can range from slapping or hitting to being shoved over, choked or bitten.
  • Sexual abuse – Being touched in a way you do not want to be touched, hurt during sex, pressured into sex or forced to have sex when you do not consent.

If any of the above apply to you or a friend, you can call these numbers:

Remember, you are not alone.

1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will experience domestic abuse over the course of their lifetime.

Every 30 seconds the police receive a call for help relating to domestic abuse.

RTE’s Des Cahill splits opinion with complaint about GAA schedule as climax of inter-county season nears

DES Cahill took issue with Saturday’s All-Ireland minor hurling final clashing with the two senior football quarter-finals.

Whilst Donegal and Tyrone were the victors in Croke Park, Waterford stormed to the crown in Semple Stadium.

@sportsdes
Many people feel minor deciders should revert to being the curtain-raiser to the senior equivalent[/caption]

While congratulating the Déise’s young crop, the former Sunday Game host vented at those behind the GAA’s inter-county schedule.

He tweeted: “Huge Congrats to Waterford on winning the All-Ireland Minor Hurling title. Great display. Hard luck Clare.

“But WHO DECIDED to put this on at the same time as the two big football games in Croke Park??”

The response to his post was interestingly mixed. Some were equally vexed as Carmel agreed: “Crazy Des. Feels very disrespectful to the minors.

“It was always such a great sense of occasion having the minor final before the seniors and for them to play their final on the biggest hurling day and stage.

“Even better when teams from the same counties in both finals.”

Similarly, Simon called for a return to the way it once was. He posted: “The minor final should be curtain raiser to senior final like it was.”

Lastly, Sean raged: “Absolutely scandalous. A novel pairing in an All-Ireland minor final and clashing with knock-out football matches. So much for promoting the games.”

However, there were others who felt it was a perfectly reasonable time to place the contest between Waterford and Clare.

One reply with 33 likes argued: “How many people in Clare and Waterford were interested in the football quarter-finals?

“Whoever wanted to be in Thurles was in Thurles, more to life than Dublin football Des.

“I doubt there was too many folk from Donegal, Monaghan and Tyrone were interested in the minor hurling final.”

Secondly, Uria claimed: “Why are the people constantly complaining always the neutrals who wouldn’t go to that game anyway. The people that it mattered to went to it.”

Neil also added: “What neutral is going to go to that Des?”

James ‘Joxer’ O’Connor hailed Cormac Spain after his heavenly 11-point haul inspired Waterford to glory.

Spain even played through the pain barrier for the Déise during his out-of-this-world display — as he was forced to nurse a hamstring injury.

Boss O’Connor revealed: “He got problems from a hamstring early on. It was just about bearable for him to play so he kept going. You don’t want to come off in an All-Ireland final.

“I wouldn’t take him off unless I really felt he had to come off.
He played through the pain. That’s what you do in All-Irelands.
He won’t feel that in the morning!

“He has an All-Ireland medal in his back pocket. That’s the dream.”

SPAIN JOY

Spain finished the Championship with a staggering 8-75 in eight outings — which was an average of 12 points per game as he ripped the soul out of many opposition teams.

Corner-back Darragh Keane was another driving force behind the Déise’s ascension into heaven.

But O’Connor hailed a squad effort during a heroic display in Thurles.
He added: “I thought all of the backs were outstanding.

“I’ll be honest with you. Some of the heroics in the last ten or 15 minutes were just unbelievable altogether.

“There put their bodies on the line and they were throwing themselves in front of hurleys and sliotars. It was unbelievable to watch.

“They’d make you proud and there’s no point in saying otherwise.
There’s no prouder man in Thurles than me.”

US rock band cancel UK tour as vocalist suffers ‘medical emergency’

AN AMERICAN rock band has scrapped the UK leg of their tour due to a “medical emergency.”

The group issued the shock statement on Instagram, uploading an image of their colourful tour poster with the word ‘cancelled’ emblazoned in yellow text over the top.

Lead singer TJ Lyle has suffered a stroke and been advised not to fly[/caption]

In their caption, The Georgia Thunderbolts wrote they had made their decision with “heavy hearts.”

The Stand Up hitmakers put: “Good day friends and fans of The Georgia Thunderbolts.

“It is with heavy hearts we have to announce the cancellation of our first ever UK tour.

“We have had our sights set on touring the UK since our band’s infancy.

“We were so looking forward to playing your stages and making new friends that we could share our live music with.”

The Take It Slow singers were due to kick off their tour in Newcastle on July 12, wrapping up in Maidstone on July 19.

In between, they were set to play sets in Wakefield, Bilston, Southampton and London.

Yet in their post they explained how vocalist TJ had suffered a stroke.

They added: “On Thursday, June 19th, while operating heavy construction equipment for his father, our lead singer, T.J. Lyle, suffered a mild stroke.

“T.J. is recovering the best, but his medical team feels he should rest up a bit, not get too hot and avoid flying for a while.

“A huge thank you to all for prayers and everyone pulling for T.J.
We promise we will be coming to your shores soon.

“Full Steam Ahead…Damn the Torpedoes!! The Georgia Thunderbolts.”

The Georgia-founded band’s loyal fans were hugely understanding, and one took to the comments section to write: “Health first always.”

A second put: “All the best, T.J.”

What are the symptoms of stroke?

The FAST method – which stands for Face, Arms, Speech, Time – is the easiest way to remember the most common symptoms of stroke:

F = Face drooping – if one side of a person’s face is dropped or numb then ask them to smile, if it’s uneven then you should seek help.

A = Arm weakness – if one arm is weak or numb then you should ask the person to raise both arms. If one arm drifts downwards then you might need to get help

S = Speech difficulty – if a person’s speech is slurred then this could be a sign of a stroke

T = Time to call 999 – if a person has the signs above then you need to call 999 in the UK or 911 in the US for emergency care.

Other symptoms include:

  • sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the body
  • difficulty finding words
  • sudden blurred vision or loss of sight
  • sudden confusion, dizziness or unsteadiness
  • a sudden and severe headache
  • difficulty understanding what others are saying
  • difficulty swallowing

A third mused: “Get well soon TJ! You are in our thoughts and prayers!”

One then added: “TJ’s health is the most important. I’ll be there for your next UK tour. Love you TJ. Big hugs from Paris to all of you GTB.”

It came after the group pulled out of their scheduled gig at The Hub in Bremen, Georgia, due to the medical issue – but did not at the time state what it was.

They first announced their UK tour last month.

In an excited Instagram post the group, which formed in 2015 but did not release their debut album Can We Get A Witness until 2021, wrote: “The time has come!! We are excited to announce we’re headed to the UK this summer!!

“Mark your calendars and get those tickets…on sale now in bio…”

“We can’t wait to meet you all!! Let’s Rock!!!”

Dr Jonny Betteridge said: “Khloe has changed a lot over the past few years,” before listing what work he believed she might have undergone.

In the video, he showcased various photos of Khloe that he thought were before and after certain procedures.

Among his speculation, Dr Betteridge speculated Khloe might have had a “face and neck lift” as well as a “chin implant”, “rhinoplasty”, and “upper blepharoplasty” as well as a “temporal brow lift”.

But Khloe was quick in coming forward to correct Dr Betteridge and reveal the exact procedures she has undergone over the years.

“I take this as a great compliment,” she said in her reply to the doctor’s Instagram post and speculation.

She went on: “First off I think these photos are about 15 years apart, but here’s a list of things that I have done.

“I’ve been very open in the past about what I have done so here we go.”

Khloe then listed every surgery and tweakment she has undergone.

KHLOE GETS CANDID

She revealed she has had a nose job, laser hair for the “hairline and everywhere else”, Botox and sculptra “where my face tumor was removed in my cheek”.

Khloe added that she had also undergone soft wave laser for skin tightening, and “filler in the past but not any over the last few years (I hear it never goes away, so I’m sure it’s still there but calmed down)”.

Opening up further, she said: “Lost 80 pounds over the years (slow and steady).

“Collagen baby threads underneath my chin and neck.

“Salmon sperm facials/ regular facials, peptides, vitamins and daily skin care.

“In 2025 there are many other things we can do before surgery but when it’s time, and if I choose to, I know some great doctors,” she concluded.

One person commented: “Whatever the case, you look great.”

“You look amazing..Still look the same with just a little adjustment,” penned a second.

“Classy correction!! Love this!!! You’re absolutely gorgeous & I always appreciate how gently you correct misinformation,” said a third.

And a fourth added: “Whatever you had to do to get there was worth it! You look stunning baby!”

FANS SPECULATE MISSING SURGERIES

Fans on Reddit were quick to point out that Khloe had only mentioned work that had been done to her face.

“Seems like she’s only talking about face work here bc she also doesn’t mention her 40th bday boob job,” said one.

“And interesting that she didn’t qualify how many nose jobs she’s had,” said another.

“Why are they so afraid to admit the bigger surgeries they’ve had done?” penned a second.

This affordable garden addition will make the heat of long summer days all the more bearable.

Whether you’re hosting barbecues or enjoying some time out of the sun, this Aldi buy may just be the ultimate summer item.

The Belavi Instant Canopy, £44.99, will hit the Specialbuy section on Thursday, July 3.

Product details

It can add instant shade to your space while giving you privacy from your neighbours.

Fully water-resistant, the canopy also features a sturdy steel frame, making it ideal for various weather conditions.

You don’t have to be a DIY expert to set this up, as the product description guarantees it is “easy to assemble”.

In fact, manufacturers say that the canopy is designed for a “one person set up in under three minutes”.

And if you’re stuck for space in a cramped garden, don’t worry because this buy “folds up for convenient storage”.

It even includes a carrying case with wheels for guaranteed “easy transport”.

The budget-friendly Aldi canopy measures three metres by three metres.

Lidl version

A similar buy is available from the Lidl middle aisle, but at a slightly higher price.

The Livarno Home Folding Gazebo can be picked up for £89.99 from Sunday, July 6.

And if you’re a Lidl Plus member, you can nab it for 22% off, at just £69.99.

While this item is similar in size to the Aldi buy, it does include additional features which may validate the higher price.

These include two side panels, one with a window, which can be attached with a practical hook, as well as loop fasteners for privacy.

A £12.99 garden find left shoppers open-mouthed – but you’ll need to sprint to nab it.

If you’re looking to light up your garden this summer, you won’t want to miss this £8.99 solar light.

Lidl shoppers have the option to set it up as a semi-open gazebo or a sun shade.

And you can transition your summer party into an evening event, with hooks to hang outdoor lamps or strings of lights.

Similar to the Aldi buy, it is also designed for an easy assembly, with no tools required.

As well as an unfolding mechanism, the product features extendable legs for easy height adjustmnet.

There are also four ropes and eight pegs for securing the canopy to the ground, as well as heat and wind-dissipating ventilation.

According to manufacturers, this structure is made from water-repellent and UV-resistant material.

It also comes with a shoulder strap storage bag and has a three-year warranty.

The hook load capacity is 2.5 kilograms while the canopy measures 300 centimetres by 300 centimetres.

Killer, 93, GUILTY of raping & murdering OAP after he was finally snared by DNA clue on blue skirt 58 years later

A KILLER has been found guilty of raping and murdering a pensioner after he was snared by DNA on a blue skirt 58 years later.

Ryland Headley broke into the Bristol home of Louisa Dunne, 75, in June 1967 before attacking her.

He was finally caught thanks to DNA found on a blue skirt[/caption]

She was discovered by neighbours on a pile of clothes with multiple bruising.

Headley, now aged 92, has been convicted of rape and murder 58 years after the horror – bringing an end to Britain’s oldest cold case review.

Bristol Crown Court heard police at the time had attempted to match thousands of potential suspects with a palm print left on Louisa’s window.

But the case went cold for decades until Headley was finally snared when DNA was found to be a match with semen found on Louisa’s blue skirt.

But while the depraved fiend was evading justice, he free to rape two other elderly women.

In 1977, Headley broke into an 84-year-old’s home and attacked her.

Later that month, he raped a 79-year-old woman after also gaining entry to her home.

Twice-widowed Louisa was last seen by a friend on June 27, 1967, before heading home at around 7.30pm.

The court heard a number of local women became concerned when they realised they had not seen Louisa all morning.

Violet Allen and Hilda Stedman then went over and found the front door shut and the sash window near the front door open as far as possible.

Prosecutor Anna Vigars KC said: “They looked through the window and called for her through the letter box but got no response.

“When she looked through the window, Violet Allen could see Mrs Dunne’s legs by the side of the table so, with the help of two other women, she climbed in through the window and went over to her.

“Violet Allen took hold of Mrs Dunne’s hand and immediately realised that she was dead because her hand was ice cold.”

A post mortem found Louisa had cuts and bruising on her mouth which indicated “something firm” had been pressed against her lips.

Swabs were taken from Louisa’s body, which tested positive for semen, but scientific examinations at that time were limited.

Jurors were told in 2003, the case was re-examined and police found the swabs matched Headley’s DNA in a “billion to one” breakthrough.

At the time of Louisa’s death, he had been living around a mile-and-a-half from the OAP’s home but fell outside the circle of houses were men were asked to provide handprint for the investigation.

The prosecution said three different finger print experts had since eventually come to the conclusion the “palm print on the window was caused by Mr Headley’s hand.”

Headley was finally snared at his home nearly 60 years later in Ipswich, Suffolk.

He could be heard moaning “I’m sick” as police swooped and asked the officers: “Who are you?”

Headley also demanded “what is this about?” before he was arrested.

The killer, who denied rape and murder, will be sentenced on a later date.
