JAGUAR’S controversial new concept car has finally been revealed in person for the first time – sparking intense debate between fans.
Onlookers got to see the Jag which has been at the forefront of its “woke” rebrand.
Jaguar unveiled its new Type 00 concept car for the first time on Friday morning at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The car will never go on sale in its existing form.
Instead, it is a concept car exhibited to showcase Jaguar’s new “exuberant modernism.”
The car stunned Goodwood’s guests with its spotless, striking blue exterior which drew large crowds from across the festival.
The colour was a significant departure from the pink colour dressing the 00 when it was first announced late last year.
This was preceded by Jaguar’s glossy ad campaign with bright colours and catwalk models last November which sparked outrage.
When the 30-second ad was first unveiled, flashing up a number of slogans, including “live vivid”, “delete ordinary” and “copy nothing”, fans on social media were not happy.
The likes of Nigel Farage and even Elon Musk led the critics, with the Reform leader describing it as “woke” and warned the automaker risked “going bust” due to its new design choice.
Musk simply asked Jaguar on X: “‘Do you sell cars?”
This weekend, fans had the chance to comment on the car’s new design after physically seeing it.
Speaking to The Times, many fans were left unimpressed by Jaguar’s new concept car and new brand direction.
“The back’s horrendous,” said one fan.
Another assessed: “They’ve wrecked the brand.
“The logo is awful, it looks like it was designed by a child.
One fan even said the new ad campaign had led him to sell his F-Pace.
Others did enjoy some of the features of the new car, saying they thought it was cool and futuristic.
In November, the controversial ad excluded any images of its sleek sports cars as it touted its transition to a fully electric, ultra-luxury company.
The scrapping of the well-known big cat badge in favour of a geometric ‘J’ design also drew fierce criticism.
At the time of release, one Facebook user commented: “If I wasn’t sure before, now I’m convinced Jaguar have completely lost the plot. This woke nonsense won’t gain anything.”
Another said: “As someone who worked for this iconic brand up until production cessation in June it really does sadden me to see the direction the company has decided to take.”
PHONE shops in high risk areas have been forced to lock their doors to customers after a spate of armed robberies by organised crime gangs.
O2 has confirmed a ‘locked door’ policy is now in place at a number of high street stores across the country in response to the terrifying raids – including Richmond in south-west London, The Strand in central London and St Albans, Herts.
Instead of just walking into the shops, customers now have to knock on the door and be let in by a security guard.
The Sun found staff at the shop in St Albans on Friday were operating a one in one out system, only allowing up to three members of the public in at a time.
According to a source, they were forced to bring in these measures after two terrifying robberies which left staff members fearing for their lives.
They said: “At the end of February we had an attempted robbery. Three guys came in and tried to force their way into the store room.
“I saw them, all with their faces covered, out of the corner of my eye and I thought I was done for.
“We suspected they had a weapon and they were trying to force staff back there to open the door – the police came that time and they didn’t manage to take anything.
“A few months before in October the shop was actually robbed, they took thousands of pounds worth of phones.
“There were two customers in the shop at the time, and because of the threats and the suspected weapon it was decided that the door would be locked.
“No one should come into work and be scared they’re going to be stabbed over a phone – no one wants to lose their life over just a phone.
“It has affected trade a little, but you know now all the people coming in have the intention to buy and it makes staff feel safer while helping them so I think it’s worth it.”
In May, the O2 shop in Richmond was targeted by two armed men, with one swiftly arrested by police.
Just a few months before in February, the same shop was raided by armed thieves who forced staff into the store room and made off with a number of mobiles.
An O2 spokesperson said: “In response to a growing number of thefts at stores in certain areas, we have introduced a ‘locked door’ policy at a small proportion of our stores, including in St Albans.
“These stores remain fully open for our customers, and the only difference they will experience is that instead of opening the door themselves, it will be opened for them by a security guard.
“This decision has been taken to prioritise the safety of both our employees and our customers, as well as the security of our stock.
“We are working closely with law enforcement, and with other providers who are facing similar issues, to tackle this problem.”

POLICE are to get anti-drone tech to combat airborne crime — including devices that look like rifles.
The £15million kit will be deployed against terrorists and organised gangsters.
It will also be used to stop drugs being flown into jails.
Home Office chiefs have approved three separate £5million deals to buy gun-like radio jammers which disable drones and also help identify their criminal controllers.
The devices can be either hand-held, like a pistol or rifle, mounted on a vehicle or used in a fixed position.
Details are revealed in contracts which show the Home Office wants “the next generation of hand-held radio frequency effector technology” for police to counter drones.
The firms awarded contracts — each lasting until June 2027 — are Steelrock Technologies, CPM Ellettronica and Kirintec.
Steelrock said “every hostile drone incursion puts people and critical assets at risk” while Kirintec said it supplies “counter uncrewed aerial systems for air defence and denial”.
Images from the companies show the technology being used in urban centres and dense woodland.
The devices will be run by the National Police Chiefs’ Council, which co-ordinates action of counter-terrorism, fighting organised crime, public order and frontline policing.
Experts are increasingly concerned about the threat of drones from terrorists and spies.
A SICK Palestinian gran has won permission to come to Britain for medical treatment — despite fears it could undermine immigration controls.
The 67-yar-old has a daughter, 50, living in Britain.
She argued successfully at an immigration tribunal last month they had a right to family life under a European Human Rights rule.
But in court documents seen by The Sun on Sunday, the Home Office warned it could also lead to a “proliferation” of similar applications.
The woman, who suffers from spinal stenosis, is financially supported by her daughter.
She lives in war-torn Gaza City and was deemed vulnerable by the tribunal as she suffers from PTSD and depression.
The treatment is expected to cost about £20,000 at a private hospital in Windsor, Berks, and the woman will return to Gaza after it is completed.
Upper Tribunal Judge Rebecca Owens allowed her appeal for a visitor visa.
BRITAIN faces war with Russia within the next five years, the previous head of the British Army has warned.
Former Chief of the General Staff General Sir Patrick Sanders, 59, said the UK must accept that armed conflict with Vladimir Putin by 2030 is a “realistic possibility”.
Gen Sir Patrick, who retired from the military last year, cautioned that the Army is currently too small to survive more than the first few months of such a war.
And he added that he did not know how many more “signals” ministers needed to realise it must strengthen the nation’s defences.
He said: “If Russia stops fighting in Ukraine, you get to a position where within a matter of months they will have the capability to conduct a limited attack on a Nato member that we will be responsible for supporting, and that happens by 2030.
“I don’t know what more signals we need for us to realise that if we don’t act now and we don’t act in the next five years to increase our resilience … I don’t know what more is needed.”
The former rifleman fell out of favour with the Government while leading the Army for being seen as too outspoken against troop cuts.
It was announced under the previous government that the Army would be reduced from just over 80,000 personnel as of October 2020 to 72,500 by 2025.
Gen Sir Patrick said: “At the moment, the British Army is too small to survive more than the first few months of an intensive engagement, and we’re going to need more.
“Now the first place you go to are the reserves, but the reserves are also too small.
“Thirty thousand reserves still only takes you to an army of 100,000.
“You know, I joined an Army in the Cold War that was about 140,000 regulars, and on top of that, a much larger reserve.”
Gen Sir Patrick said he was disappointed the Strategic Defence Review published last month “didn’t touch on this at all”.
Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves last month committed to the defence budget rising to 2.6 per cent of the UK’s GDP by April 2027.
And PM Sir Keir Starmer pledged the UK would spend 5 per cent of GDP on national security within 10 years, with 3.5 per cent of that amount going to core defence matters.
But Sir Gen Patrick said that during his time at the head of the Army there had been unsuccessful “conversations” with the government about building bomb shelters for civilians and underground command centres for the military to prepare for an attack.
He said: “It always came down to a conversation of it being too costly and not a high enough priority and the threat didn’t feel sufficiently imminent or serious to make it worth it.
“Finland has bomb shelters for 4.5 million people. It can survive as a government and as a society under direct missile and air attacks from Russia. We don’t have that.”
Despite the biggest threat coming from Russia, Gen Sir Patrick also warned that Iran could act through proxies “to attack British interests in the UK”.
