Chelsea registered a handful of new additions to their side ahead of the tournament Stateside, with Liam Delap registering a goal and an assist so far for the Blues.
The latest signing has seen Joao Pedro move to the Blues from Brighton for £50million plus £5m in add-ons.
The new signing said: “I grew up watching the Premier League, and Chelsea were a club that won trophies.
“So, when you join Chelsea, you can only think one thing: to win trophies.
“Every competition, you have to think, ‘I play for Chelsea and that is my ambition’.
“I’m close a little bit to David Luiz. I spoke to him, not about Chelsea, but about my career and how I could develop better. He helped me.”
SunSport can reveal if Joao Pedro can play for the Blues in the Club World Cup.
Can Joao Pedro play for Chelsea in the Club World Cup?
Yes, Joao Pedro will be available for Enzo Maresca to use in the Club World Cup.
The deadline for registration was July 3 – two days prior to Chelsea’s clash with Palmeiras.
The Blues completed his £50million transfer ahead of the deadline, and as a result, he is available against the Brazilian giants.
However, if Chelsea were to complete a deal for Jamie Gittens in the coming days he would not be available – he has already competed in the tournament with Borussia Dortmund.

BUYING a used car involves lots of decisions. What size and style do you want? Are you petrol, diesel, hybrid, or EV? Should you buy as cheaply as possible or invest as much as you can?
How can you pay for it? (Sun Motors Finance, obviously. More on that later…)
We can’t answer any of these questions, but we can tell you what the UK’s most popular car for sale on Sun Motors is.
When it was launched, this compact crossover SUV pretty much defined the category. It’s nearly 20 years old but remains as popular as ever.
You used to need a lot of cash to get a Qashqai (see what I did there?), but we’ll show you how Sun Motors Finance is making it easier for everyone to buy the right car at the best price.
I’ve driven the Nissan Qashqai and I’ll give you my honest opinion of its good points, bad points, and anything else I can remember that’s relevant.

What are the most popular used cars?
Sun Motors is a nationwide marketplace that connects thousands of buyers and dealers. We keep track of every purchase and can reveal our list of the 10 most popular used cars in the UK.
You already know that at the top of the charts is the Nissan Qashqai. Here’s a list of the rest…
Nissan Qashqai
VW Golf
Mercedes A-Class
Mini (all models)
Kia Sportage
BMW 1 Series
Ford Kuga
BMW 3 Series
Audi A3

Nissan Qashqai used car review
The Nissan Qashqai may have a name that you’ll struggle to spell, but its appeal isn’t hard to spot.
It’s a crossover SUV, which means it looks like a car that’s capable of running off-road and has an elevated driving position, but in reality, it’s a pretty refined and reliable city vehicle.
We’re going to talk about the second-generation (and subsequent) models that launched in 2013.
With this version, Nissan ironed out all the faults and created the UK’s favourite (sort of) SUV.
The Qashquai is now beloved by middle managers, school-run mums and dads, and anyone for whom a MINI was just a little bit too small.
Modern versions are bigger and look more aggressive, but, for our money, don’t look as good.
Models such as this Nissan Qashqai 1.5 dCi n-tec+ SUV 5dr Diesel Manual 2WD Euro 6 can be found on Sun Motors for as little as £130 per month – it has 68K miles and is from 2015
The high-up driving position offers great visibility, and the responsive handling makes the car manoeuvrable enough to slide into that supermarket parking spot.
OK, so performance-wise it’s not going to knock your socks off or make you smile too much, but it’s a family car, so we never expected it would.
There have been far too many engine variations (including petrol, diesel, hybrid, and the latest e-POWER powertrain) for us to run through them all.
Reviewers seem to favour the 1.3-litre DIG-T 140 mild-hybrid petrol engine, and we won’t argue.
Bad points are, as you’d expect, few and far between. The Qashqai is quite expensive as a used car, with other makes and models perhaps a little cheaper to buy, run and insure.
The Qashqai is, like lots of crossovers, a bit of a fake too. It’s not really an off-roader like the Range Rover, but not many people need that sort of performance (or can afford the price).
How to check your eligibility for the Nissan Qashqai
Sun Motors offers a 60 seconds finance checker to check your eligibility and avoid disappointment when searching for your dream car
What’s helpful is that Sun Motors offers a quick budget check so you can see your realistic borrowing limit before you browse.
Start by using our “How much can I borrow?” tool to get an instant estimate of how much you can borrow.
Are Nissan Qashqais reliable?
The Nissan Qashqai isn’t quite as reliable as the bullet-proof Nissan cars of old, with the 2014-21 diesel models in particular suffering from engine and exhaust problems.
Overall, though, it’s a sturdy family motor that shouldn’t leave you stranded by the roadside.
Try to buy one with a full service history, ensure all recalls have been completed, and verify receipts for any work done.
How much is a Nissan Qashqai?
Nissan Qashqais start from £5,000 for a 10-year old (2015) model with over 100,000 miles on the clock. Nearly new models, including the e-POWER version, can cost over £35,000.
As a ballpark, expect to pay around £15-17,000 for a 2020 Qashqai.
It’s not the cheapest car on the market, with some used models as expensive as a new Dacia Duster, for example, but it’ll hold its value.
Can I get finance for a Nissan Qashqai?
Finance is a great way to buy a used Nissan Qashqai. You can spread the cost over a set period with fixed monthly payments allowing you to budget effectively.
Understanding how much you can borrow before you start searching is vital, which is why Sun Motors Finance tool gives you the power. Add some details and you’ll get an accurate indication of the amount you can borrow.
When you start searching, the intelligent functionality will only display Qashquais (and other cars) that you can afford to buy.
The search takes just 60 seconds and won’t affect your credit rating. If you’re successful, you can get full approval for a loan on the same day.
Sun Motors Finance is suitable for those who have been denied credit elsewhere. We work with several lenders who can offer finance packages to individuals who may have been previously refused credit.
Our advice is to check out how much you can borrow before shopping for your new car (whether it’s a Qashqai, convertible, VW, or van).

A choice of fuel type whether it’s petrol, diesel, electric or hybrid
A range of models from convertible, estate, saloon and many more
A range of top brands such as Ford, Volkswagen, Toyota and BMW
The Nissan Qashqai isn’t a true 4×4 like a Land Rover or Range Rover, for example, but you can find both front-wheel drive (FWD) and four-wheel drive (AWD) models on the market.
In off-road mode, the 4×4 Qashqai will tackle difficult terrain like mud and gravel, much more confidently than the 2WD version.
Most drivers who really need 4WD performance should look elsewhere. In the end, they probably already were.

This nearly-new hybrid Qashquai is everything you want from a modern motor. The cool blue Qashqai is in Tekna trim, featuring cool 18-inch alloy wheels, a Bose sound system, and a head-up display. Nice.
High-class hybrid: Nissan Qashqai 1.5 h e-POWER Acenta Premium
The 2022 Qashqai is a thoroughly modern car. Its petrol/electric hybrid motor produces an impressive 188bhp.
It’s quiet, quick, and has the mean look of the new Qashqai.
This particular car has 43,000 miles on the clock so it’s ready to go for thousands more.

Buy a car through Sun Motors, basically. You’ll find that all dealers advertising cars on Sun Motors are vetted and checked for quality and reputation.

Sun Motors also enables you to connect directly with dealers, allowing you to ask any questions you want before making a purchase.
How much can I borrow for car finance?
The amount of cash you can borrow depends on a range of factors, including your credit history, income, and the finance package (HP or PCP) that you choose.
What’s helpful is that Sun Motors offers a quick budget check so you can see your realistic borrowing limit before you browse.
Start by using our “How much can I borrow?” tool to get an instant estimate of how much you can borrow.
What’s the difference between PCP and HP car finance?
PCP (Personal Contract Purchase) costs less a month. At the end of the agreement, you can return the car or pay a lump sum to keep it.
HP (Hire Purchase), on the other hand, spreads the total cost over fixed payments, and you own the car outright once the agreement is complete.
The good news is that Sun Motors offers both options, so you can choose what works best for you.

A SERVING Irish soldier has been bailed for sentencing after he admitted delivering “one punch” to a man who fell to the ground, striking his head and leaving him with a traumatic brain injury.
Father-of-three, Alan Costello, of Shantraud Woods, Killaloe in Co Clare, told Gardai he was “sorry” and “ashamed” of his behaviour on the night, Limerick Circuit Criminal Court heard.
Alan Costello appeared in court in LimerickAlamyHe pleaded guilty to one count of affrayBrendan Gleeson
Costello, 37, who has served almost 20 years in the Defence Forces, pleaded guilty to one count of affray, during which he punched the recently deceased Timmy Cosgrave, 51, during a row in February 2022.
Father-of-one Cosgrave, from Annacotty in Co Limerick, who ran his own haulage firm, died following an unrelated illness in Tenerife almost two years later, on January 10, 2024.
The court heard that the two men got into a “heated” row at the Chicken Hut fast-food restaurant in Limerick city, after Cosgrave appeared to have skipped past Costello in a queue for food in the early hours of February 20, 2022.
Cosgrave, who was intoxicated, beckoned Costello to meet him outside the premises.
After both men went outside, Costello punched Cosgrave and he fell backwards, striking the back of his head off the ground, the court heard.
Cosgrave’s family told the court that Costello “took away Timmy’s independence” when he punched him as well as his “passion” for trucks and his haulage company, established in 2015, “which were his pride and joy”.
Cosgrave’s family said he was “devastated” after doctors told him in 2023 he could no longer drive, nor perform mechanical checks on his fleet of trucks “after he developed epilepsy, and lost strength in his arms”.
Costello’s barrister, Yvonne Quinn, told the court Costello had no previous convictions, that he did not target Cosgrave on the night, nor did he instigate the row with Cosgrave.
Judge Colin Daly said he would pass sentence on October 9.

GEORGE RUSSELL will be ringing rival F1 teams looking for a job in fear Max Verstappen is set to replace him at Mercedes, according to Martin Brundle.
With tensions already high between the two drivers, Russell would have hoped Verstappen’s name was the last he’d have to worry about when it comes to his seat.
George Russell’s contract with Mercedes is set to expire at the end of the 2025 season.GETTYVerstappen could leave Red Bull if he ranks lower than third place by the summer break.GETTY
But with huge speculation over Verstappen’s future at Red Bull, Mercedes have emerged as the front runner to sign up the four-time world champion.
And with Kimi Antonelli only replacing Lewis Hamilton last year, Russell is seen as the more likely to lose his place at the Silver Arrows.
Grid-walker Brundle told Sky F1 that he believes the British driver will be calling around other teams to make sure he has a place on the grid next season.
He said: “I think George Russell is nervous and ringing around a little bit.
“2026 is massive, biggest change ever in F1 for the chassis and power unit and you guess Mercedes will be there or thereabouts.
“Would you put Red Bull [there] and can Max actually get out of his contract? Something’s up.”
The rumours began with Verstappen and Mercedes last year, and they have resurfaced again after his performance-based release clause was revealed.
It’s understood that if the 27-year-old isn’t in the top three of the Drivers’ Championship at the summer break, the clause can be triggered.

Verstappen currently IS third in the standings, but ironically, just nine points ahead of Russell who could leap ahead of him if he enjoys a successful British Grand Prix this weekend.
More speculation about Verstappen’s future arose during last weekend’s race in Austria.
The Dutchman crashed out of the Grand Prix on the first lap after being shunted by the Mercedes of Antonelli.
But the normally hot-headed driver was remarkably calm.
Verstappen said: “Every driver has made a mistake like that.
“No one does that on purpose, so for me, that is not a big deal.”
Many fans were left shocked by his cool reaction, with ex-Williams andMcLarencult hero Juan Pablo Montoyaeven suggesting they were “already team-mates”.
He said: “If you wanted to read into things, why was Max so nice to Kimi after their collision? Are they already teammates?”
Were Russell to leave Mercedes, Aston Martin has been tipped as a possible destination.
Verstappen’s race in Austria ended in lap one after a collision with Kimi Antonelli.

The golfing hot-spot is no stranger to Lowry who was hosted there along with fellow Team Ireland ace Leona Maguire back in December.
Rugby stars Bundee Aki, Rory Best and Conor Murray have also visited the inner-Dublin city virtual golf centre.
Kahan was playing in Marlay Park last night to over 40,000 people but had just enough time to squeeze in a virtual golf session Irish golfer Lowry.
The Vermont native flew over to Ireland following his Sunday Glastonbury performance and wasted no time in retaking the stage.
Kahan is most famous for his song ‘Stick Season’ which has over one billion streams on Spotify.
Lowry made time for both a golf session with a global superstar and also a pizza date with his wife Wendy.
18th in the world Lowry has two weeks of preparation ahead before he competes in Portrush – where there is a mural painted of him – in the Open Championship.
The Clara-born superstar won the competition in 2019 with six strokes to spare, joining Padraig Harrington (twice), Darren Clarke and Rory McIlroy as the only Irish golfers to win it.
He came sixth place last year just five shots behind winner Xander Schauffele after finishing the first round in second place.
Lowry is coming off the back of a very disappointing US Open having not made the cut after the second round with a score of 17-over.
