TONY PULIS insists the signing of Jamie Vardy would push Ibrox expectations “through the roof”.
Rangers boss Russell Martin continues to be linked with the former England international.
Vardy, 38, is a free agent after leaving Leicester City at the end of last season.
And Pulis believes his capture would be a massive statement of intent by Gers’ new American owners.
The legendary former Stoke boss said: “If Jamie Vardy went to Rangers he would be joining a huge rivalry, they have new owners and will want to invest into the team to make things more competitive.
“Russell Martin is at a massive, massive football club and that comes with expectations. If he does bring big names in, that will go through the roof.
“Brendan Rodgers has done an unbelievable job at Celtic and Russell will be under enormous pressure to get closer to them next year.
“Jamie Vardy will not be short of offers. You don’t know whether he’s waiting for another Premier League club to come in for him, but he’s been a fantastic player.
“Taking Leicester to the Premier League title, winning the FA Cup, he is a fit lad and doesn’t look to have put any weight on. I’m sure he will have something on his mind.
“He’ll have a preference and he might be waiting to see what offers he gets, but he will have options all over the world.”

Vardy could link up with former Foxes team-mate Conor Coady at Ibrox next season.
The defender is keen on a move to Glasgow, with Martin understood to be working hard on a deal for the 32-year-old defender.
Pulis added: “There are one or two teams that have improved immensely behind Celtic and Rangers which has made things more competitive, I’m sure Conor Coady will have lots of options.
“If he ends up at Rangers then he will see that it’s a fantastic club with fantastic support, then it’ll be about trying to play a part in the competition with Celtic which we know is not easy.”
Meanwhile, Pulis reckons Brendan Rodgers could already be thinking about his next challenge.
The Celtic boss has made four signings this summer as the Hoops begin their quest for five-in-a-row.
Speaking to Fruity King, Pulis said: “I’m not so sure where Brendan Rodgers is at in his career at the moment.
“It’s a fabulous club, Celtic, without a doubt and that’s all around the world, not just in Scotland.
“It’s about the stage he feels his career is at and whether he feels he’s done enough there again to go out and get a new challenge.
“It’s a difficult, difficult choice for him because the club he’s at now is a fantastic football club.”

BIG Brother legend Charley Uchea has revealed she was rushed to hospital after being “left for dead” following a nasty car smash.
Charley, 40, took to Instagram to share a snap of the damage to her car, telling fans she’d been hit by a truck.
The TV star, who shot to fame on the eight series of Big Brother in 2007, also posted a clip showing her in hospital.
She said: “Look at the damage this truck did just by hitting me, then leaves me [for] dead on the side of the road.”
Iconic housemate Charley looked to be in a lot of pain as she showed off some nasty bruises on her face.
She added: “Bless my nurse brushing my hair out, I can’t really use my arms atm I’m so weak.”
Charley series of Big Brother also starred other memorable housemates including Chanelle Hayes and Brian Belo.
Feisty Charley quickly became known for her short temper during her time in the house and it seems she’s still as outspoken as ever.
In 2022, Charley was forced to hit back at claims she had been bleaching her skin.
Shutting down her haters, the Instagram influencer wrote: “Apparently some silly mug is posting me on Twitter and it’s going viral about me bleaching my skin.
“Omg I was on holiday before BB so obviously I’ll be darker.”
She then shared a picture of herself as a child and wrote: “So this is me, a spoilt brat when I was young with my dad.
“Clearly pale but haters will say I was using bleach.”
TENNIS power couple Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa have broken up, according to reports.
It comes just a day after both suffered defeats in the opening round at Wimbledon.
Tsitsipas, 26, began dating Badosa, 27, in May 2023.
They broke up for a matter of weeks last year before reconciling.
But bombshell reports from Spanish magazine Hola say they have now split up again.
Tsitsipas and Badosa have also unfollowed each other on Instagram and posts of them together have been deleted.
It has been claimed: “They were going through a rough patch professionally, with injuries, and that affected their relationship.
“They’re not well, of course. It’s normal for any couple that breaks up.

As for Tsitsipas, he exited the tournament yesterday after pulling out when a set down to Valentin Royer due to a back injury – not a broken heart.
The Greek ace admitted the fitness issue had made him “miserable”.
He said: “It’s probably the most difficult situation that I’ve ever been faced with, because it’s an ongoing issue that doesn’t seem to be disappearing or fading off as much.
“Myself, as a person, I have a limit at some point, so I’ll definitely have to have my final answer on whether I want to do stuff or not in the next couple of months.
“This is going to be hard, but if I see it going in that trajectory, there is no point at competing.
“If I’m not healthy, and I’ve talked about health so many times, if health is not there, then your whole tennis life becomes miserable.”
