Shoppers go wild for Primark’s £16 ‘summer vibe’ trousers that are perfect for a round belly and bloat-friendly

SHOPPERS have been left in a frenzy over a pair of Primark trousers that are “summer vibes” and bloat-friendly.

The bargain retail giant’s Striped Seersucker Trousers have been hailed as the ideal buy for fashionistas with “round bellies”.

The trousers are a relaxed fit with a drawstring waist

And the best part? They’re only £16.

So if you’re looking for a comfortable new buy to get you through the summer months without breaking the bank, you’ve come to the right place.

The trousers, which come in sizes XS to XL, are available in blue or green stripes.

They have a drawstring waist for extra comfort and are described as a “relaxed fit”.

In the online description, the Primark team adds: “Add a little texture to your wardrobe with these striped seersucker beauties.

“Cut in a regular fit with a mid-rise waist, they’re designed with a comfy drawstring fastening and easy wide legs for that laid-back feel.

“Pair with the matching waistcoat for an effortless co-ord look or mix it up with a simple tee or tank. A fit that can take you from day to night? Sorted!”

Unsurprisingly, shoppers have been racing to their nearest store to get their hands on the flattering trousers.

In a TikTok post, fashion fan Carys hailed them as a “summer vibe” that’s perfect for a “round belly and bloat-friendly”.

She added: “WELL WELL WELL, Primark brought the belly friendly GOODS this summer and I’m so here for it.

“As someone who struggles to find smarter pieces that work for my belly/body this gave me HOPE again.

“Finding pieces that look smart but don’t leave you feeling uncomfortable and angry at your body is the BEST FEELING!!”

Another social media user chimed in: “I have these and got a M I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and usually a 14/16. I’d definitely size down as they seem to run large and have sooo much stretch.”

A third cried: “Stoppp! I have to go to Primark now!”

“Need some trousers like that for the school run”, wrote a fourth.

Meanwhile, a fifth said: “I picked up the trousers yesterday! Super comfy.”

Elsewhere in store, shoppers have found a winning summer dress that’s floaty and great quality – and there’s a mini-me version too.

Amanda, the self-proclaimed “confidence queen” and size 14 fashionista, who regularly shares high-street fashion content online, has praised the Primark frock that’s super floaty and cool.

She modelled the sleeveless V-neck Trapeze Mini Dress, that’s ideal for holidays.

Thrilled with the white trapeze frock, which features an elegant tiered shape, the content creator beamed: “This one might just win me over girls, because there’s a mini-me.

“The quality of this feels absolutely fantastic. It’s lovely and floaty and oversized.”

The mini dress is available not only in white, but green too and is priced at £20.

Why Primark is great for looking expensive on a budget

By Clemmie Fieldsend, Fabulous Fashion Editor

AS someone who’s no stranger to grabbing a last-minute outfit from Primark for a night out, it’s about time that celebrities started catching on too.

For as long as I’ve been heading out, Primark has been my go-to for those “I have nothing to wear” moments, rushing in at the last minute to find something perfect.

And I’m definitely not alone – on any Friday or Saturday night, you’ll find plenty of shoppers doing the same thing, right before closing time.

But no matter what, Primark always delivers.

Now, Rita Ora is leading the charge, showing that you can snag a designer-worthy look without spending a fortune at high-end stores.

While Rita’s not rushing in last minute for a red carpet outfit, she’s proving you can achieve the same high-impact style for much less.

Looking stunning in her tailored suit alongside her mum Vera, Rita fit right in among the other A-listers dripping in Prada, Dior, and Victoria Beckham – if anything, she looked even better than some of the guests at The Fashion Awards.

With Myleene Klass and Roxy Horner already jumping on the Primark bandwagon, I’m sure more stars will be following suit soon enough.

Love Island fans slam Helena for ‘cruel’ move amid tensions between Toni and Harrison – screaming ‘get her out’

LOVE Island fans have slammed Helena for her ‘cruel’ move amid tensions between Toni and Harrison, screaming ‘get her out.’

The drama unfolded in the garden when Harrison confessed to Toni that he shared a kiss with Helena on the Terrace.

Toni is not best pleased by this revelation and has a few choice words for Harrison before she walks off, leaving Harrison to reflect on his choices.

But as Toni and Harrison chatted, Helena and Meg watched on by the fire pit, with the girls appearing to snigger at times.

Seeing Helena laughing has enraged fans, as one wrote on X: “Why do these girls always find Toni being upset funny?”

A second penned: “Helena is thriving off hurting another woman, stop laughing.”

And a third penned: “Of course Helena is laughing, she absolutely thrives off this.”

Another person said that Helena was “acting like a teenager.”

Fans previously raged at Harrison for playing two girls off against each other and lying to Toni.

In recent installments, Harrison and Helena had enjoyed some flirty banter, much to the annoyance of US star Toni.

In Monday’s show, the boys were given the power to pick which girl they wanted to couple up with.

Ben picked Helena, meaning Harrison was left with no other choice but to choose Toni.

After the recoupling, Harrison told Helena that he planned his speech for her but changed it last minute for Toni.

Harrison told her: “I felt that finally we were going to couple up, I was so ready for it, I was so ready to sleep in a bed with you.”

Just moments later, Harrison admitted to Toni that his decision was “50/50”, despite him insisting to Helena that he was set to pick her.

But it seems to be Helena that has angered fans in the love triangle.

On X, people have demanded she’s booted out of the villa, with one person writing: “With the way Helena is behaving, she needs to go.”

A second penned: “Helena just get off my screen already,” and a third penned: “Ugh, Helena needs to GO.”

Michael Lowe dead aged 57: Tributes pour in as unbeaten former world champion boxer-turned-rally driver passes away

TRIBUTES have poured in following the tragic news that Michael Lowe has died at the age of 57.

Lowe, also known as Mihai Leu, was a Romanian boxing world champion who later forged a career as a rally driver.

He was unbeaten across 28 professional fights between 1991 and 1997.

And Lowe’s prowess saw him achieve world champion status.

In February 1997, he defeated Santiago Samaniego to become the WBO welterweight world champion.

He then successfully defended his crown in September of that year, defeating Ireland’s Michael Carruth.

However, he called it quits on his career and retired as one of only three undefeated European world champions at the time, after Jack McAuliffe and Terry Marsh.

Injury forced him to abandon boxing altogether.

Saudi boxing chief CONFIRMS Tyson Fury return and hints at Usyk trilogy as he claims: ‘We have a rabbit to hunt’

TYSON FURY is plotting a dramatic comeback in 2026 – after Saudi supremo chief Turki Alalshikh teased a trilogy with Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury abruptly announced his retirement from boxing – for the fourth time – in January just a month after losing his rematch to Usyk in Saudi Arabia.

Tyson Fury has confirmed he will make his return to boxing in 2026, says Turki Alalshikh[/caption]

It was only seven months earlier that he also lost his undefeated record and WBC belt in 12 classic rounds against Usyk in Riyadh.

Disillusioned with the razor-tight pair of decision losses, the unpredictable Gypsy King took to Instagram to hang up his gloves.

And despite training up to THREE times a day, Fury, 36, has so far appeared uninterested in a comeback even to fight Anthony Joshua, 35.

That was until arriving in Turkey for the IBA pro boxing tournament – where he called out Usyk to a trilogy fight.

And shortly after Alalshikh – who delivered the mega-money two-fight series on Saudi soil – appeared to confirm he had convinced Fury into yet another return.

The Saudi boxing chief posted: “The ‘Gypsy King’ will be back!!!

“I talked with him, and I have his word to have him in Riyadh Season in 2026…We have a rabbit to hunt!”

Usyk, 38, returns on July 19 at Wembley in a rematch with Daniel Dubois, 27, following his 2023 stoppage win – this time for the undisputed throne.

And Fury – who infamously referred to Usyk as “the rabbit” in 2022 – is eyeing revenge against the Ukrainian in London.

He said: “Dubois is very young and ambitious. Usyk is very experienced.

“But he’s coming off two fights with me, which is debatable which he won them or not, which he didn’t, but he got the decision which is all that matters.

“If I was going to come back, I would come back for Usyk, but I want a fair result in England. That would be the fight I want next.

“I don’t want any favours, I want a fair fight and a fair result which I know I didn’t get. I thought I won that second fight by five rounds.

“I watched it literally 250 times and each way, I never see there’s a way he won. But, they can do what they want.”

Fury also revealed he got the green light from wife Paris to come out of retirement for the umpteenth time.

A “DEVOTED” couple in their eighties who were found dead near the stairs of their Cork terraced home will be laid to rest together this week.

Michael O’Sullivan and his wife Ann were found dead together at their home in Glounthaune at around 5pm on Monday by a relative.

They were formally pronounced dead by a local GP and a technical examination was carried out by Gardai at the scene.

It is understood that the pensioners –  Ann, 80 and Michael, 83 – may have been helping each other down the stairs when they fell  together and were fatally injured.

An online death notice read that Michael, late of the GPO, and his “loving wife” Ann, formerly of Irish Steel, died on June 30 “together at home”.

Michael is survived by his sister Mary and is also “deeply regretted by Sylvia and his nieces Maureen and Yvonne”.

He was predeceased by his sibling Bernie.

Ann is survived by her siblings, Gerry and Jim.

She is also “deeply regretted by Julie, her nieces Aoife, Bríona, Orla and Fíona and her nephews Eolan and Diarmaid”.

She was predeceased by her brother Eolan.

The notice adds that the couple “will be very sadly missed” by the Ryng and O’Sullivan families, their kind neighbours and friends.

The loving couple will lie in repose at Barry Bros Funeral Home, in Hazelwood, Glanmire, tomorrow from 5pm to 6pm.

BURIED TOGETHER

Their funeral mass will then take place on Friday at 1pm in the Sacred Heart Church, Glounthaune.

The service will then be followed by a burial at Joseph’s Cemetery, Little Island.

Glounthaune Community Association has joined the residents of Glounthaune Village in offering their heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased.

In a post on social media they said that the couple were known for their love for each other.

They said: “They were a deeply religious and devoted couple, who lived a life guided by strong spiritual values.

“They had a deep love for the village and its community, and will be fondly remembered.”

Ex-Royal Navy boss sacked and stripped of admiral’s rank over secret affair with subordinate

THE former head of the Royal Navy has been sacked and stripped of his admiral rank over a secret affair with a subordinate.

Ex-First Sea Lord Sir Ben Key, 59, is the most senior officer in the Navy’s 500-year history to face the dishonour.

Ex-First Sea Lord Sir Ben Key has been sacked and stripped of his admiral rank over a secret affair with a subordinate[/caption]

The Sun revealed in May he had been suspended and banned from resigning while a probe ran its course.

The married dad of three had vowed to stamp out “intolerable behaviour” in the Navy, regardless of rank.

The MoD said: “Following a full investigation, Admiral Sir Ben Key’s behaviour has been found to have fallen far short of values and standards expected. This has resulted in termination of service and his commission.”

Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, the head of the Armed Forces, said: “We investigate all allegations of inappropriate behaviour and will take robust action against anyone found to have fallen short.”

Sir Ben could now be stripped of his knighthood and CBE.

Pals say wife Elly is standing by him.

He did not face court martial as the affair was not a criminal offence.

He was accused of breaking Navy rules which ban sexual relationships between commanders and lower ranks.

The Armed Forces are also barred from actions which risk or wreck comrades’ marriages.

His lover has not been identified, but sources claimed she was a senior officer married to a sailor, who lodged a complaint.

Sir Ben, who had a stellar 41-year Navy career, said: “I deeply regret my conduct in spring last year, which fell well below the standard I set for myself and that which I set for the Royal Navy.

“I am very sorry to those I have hurt, and I apologise to everyone who serves with the Royal Navy.

“I am very grateful for the support of my wife, family and friends during a very difficult time.”

Chief's brawl rap

Exclusive by Robin Perrie

A NAVY commander swerved jail after head-butting a Marine Sergeant Major at a nuclear base.

Lt Cdr Gary Fletcher, 34, behaved like a “taproom bruiser” when brawling with Hamish Robb after a boxing event at HMNB Clyde, known as Faslane.

The military court at Catterick, North Yorks, heard the pair thrashed around on the floor as RSM Robb tried to restrain the “agitated” senior officer.

Fletcher had been boozing to cope with a break-up, it was said.

He admitted battery and behaviour likely to discredit His Majesty’s forces.

He was sentenced to two years loss of seniority, his salary docked, and promotion banned.

Secret Uber Eats kitchen cooking ‘Big Boi Burgers’ brazenly set up in tax-funded asylum hotel is SHUT DOWN

A SECRET Deliveroo and Uber Eats takeaway kitchen in a taxpayer-funded asylum hotel was exposed when two workers filmed themselves going inside.

Footage showed fast-food orders being prepared on the premises, which houses hundreds of asylum seekers.

The kitchen at the asylum hotel was being sub-let to fast food businesses Big Boi Burgers and Absurd Stacks[/caption]

Home Office officials confirmed to The Sun it was a “misuse” of asylum accommodation — whose bosses have been paid millions to house migrants.

An investigation was last night under way to assess if the pop-up kitchen at the Cedar Court Hotel in Wakefield, West Yorks, was illegal under the terms of a contract signed between the Government and bosses of EC4 Hotel Ltd, the firm behind the accommodation.

The probe will establish if EC4 broke the law by sub-letting the kitchen in recent months to fast food businesses Big Boi Burgers and Absurd Stacks.

‘Scared to speak up’

Wakefield Council, which gave the businesses a license to operate, also launched an investigation.

EC4, which has three other hotels, is run by Monaco-based Nadja Kovic Nassar, 66, and had a turnover of nearly £18million in 2024.

The Home Office spends £5million a day on contracts with Clearsprings, Mears Group and Serco to provide them with asylum accommodation.

Minister for Border Security and Asylum, Dame Angela Eagle, admitted last month that the controls the Government has over the contracts and their subcontractors were “quite weak”.

The Cedar Court hotel is part of the deal with Mears Group — which is set to get £2.5billion of taxpayers’ money over ten years, from 2019 to 2029.

The row broke out after two men filmed themselves walking into the Cedar Court kitchen to show it was being used to cook grub for fast food customers.

Footage showed a sign on the door of the premises, which is closed to the public, which stated: “Uber Eats, Deliveroo Collection Point”.

Security officials swiftly moved the local duo off the premises and called police to the scene.

In 2023 the Home Office announced plans to increase the number of asylum seeker spaces at Cedar Court from 148 to 306. Last night the hotel was on lockdown with security guarding the entrance — telling visitors it was private property.

A number of migrants were seen in the grounds seeking shade beneath a gazebo at the rear. A small five-a-side football goal was set up on the grass nearby.

One staff member arriving for work refused to comment but said the hotel was closed and had been for five years to accommodate the migrants.

A distraught neighbour said: “There are comings and goings at all times of the day. Most of them staying here are working. They go to the bus stop and get picked up from the lay-by early in the morning.

“I’ve no idea what they’re doing but they are working. They’re all on bikes, coming and going.

“I can’t tell you how distressing it is. They hang around in large groups and I’m scared to go out.

“I was shocked to see the Deliveroo sign at the back but not surprised.

Fast food firms Big Boi Burgers and Absurd Stacks have been shut down after the kitchen was exposed

“The Government is putting these people in small rural residential areas without a care for the people who live here.

“We’ve spoken to the police repeatedly but they’re just not interested. We’re scared to speak up because we fear reprisals.”

There are comings and goings at all times of the day. Most of them staying here are working

Distraught neighbour

In May a report said three firms who turned their hotels into migrant hubs — Clearsprings, Mears and Serco — had made combined profits of £383million since 2019 after the expected costs of housing asylum seekers tripled.

Appearing before a parliamentary committee, Clearsprings and Mears said they would pay money back. Serco said they had not made enough profit to do so.

When the taxpayer-funded contracts were signed in 2019, the vast majority of people were housed in accommodation within communities. Around a third are now housed in hotels, which come at a far greater expense to the public finances.

The Home Office last night confirmed that the takeaway kitchen operating in the Cedar Court Hotel was “immediately” closed.

A Home Office spokesperson told The Sun: “This activity is wholly unacceptable.

“Immediate action has been taken to ensure the service is no longer operating at the site and we are in close contact with the provider.

“They have said residents at the hotel were not involved.

“We take all allegations of misuse of asylum accommodation and the safety of residents extremely seriously. We will now be investigating.”

Earlier this week the government called in bosses of Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat to demand urgent action to prevent immigration- offending on their platforms.

It came after The Sun revealed how asylum seekers were suspected of earning from Just Eat and Deliveroo takeaway drops while claiming taxpayer handouts.

Immediate action has been taken to ensure the service is no longer operating at the site and we are in close contact with the provider

Home Office

The delivery firms agreed to increase the use of facial verification checks and fraud detection technology to help ensure only registered account holders can work off their platforms.

Bosses were read the riot act at the precise moment on Tuesday as Immigration Enforcement made their first swoop outside the Thistle City Barbican hotel in London.

More than 20 cops in stab vests scrambled from unmarked cars to pounce on migrants returning from shifts.

Officers confronted at least ten men, two seen with delivery-branded food bags on bikes. The Sun approached Cedar Court Hotels, Mears Group and Wakefield Council for comment.

Last night fast food firms Big Boi Burgers and Absurd Stacks had been shut down.

A Deliveroo spokesperson told The Sun: “Virtual brands like Absurd Stacks are fully registered food businesses, offering a delivery-only restaurant service.

“After being made aware of the potential relationship between the hotel group running the virtual brand and the Home Office, we suspended them from our platform while we investigate further.”

An Uber Eats spokesperson said: “We have suspended this restaurant’s access to our platform and are fully investigating.”

My wife betrayed me by having affair and now she’s taking me to the cleaners – she’s turned so cruel and cold

DEAR DEIDRE: MY wife betrayed me by having an affair and now she is taking me to the cleaners. I don’t recognise the woman she’s become.

She has turned so cruel and cold. Now I’m set to lose everything — my home, money and my kids — while she lives the life of Riley. I don’t know where to turn.

I’m 42 and she’s 40. We’ve been married for 15 years and have three children, aged between eight and 12.

Earlier this year, I discovered she’d been seeing a man she met online.

They were sneaking around, having sex, while I was at work or looking after our children.

I was devastated, but told her I’d forgive her. I didn’t want to break my family apart.

But she wasn’t having it, and asked me to leave our house. “The kids need their mum,” she said.

I’ve had to carry on paying half the mortgage, as well as rent for my own flat — and for all the loans we had taken out together. I’m left with barely enough money to buy food for myself each month.

To add insult to injury, a few weeks after I was forced out, she moved her boyfriend in.

I don’t know what to do. I can’t stop paying, as I need to support my kids. She says she’ll stop me seeing them if I don’t pay my share. And if I get into debt it will ruin my credit rating too.

Although I have spoken to a solicitor, I can’t afford legal fees, and going to court will take a year.

I feel totally destroyed. All I ever did was love her and my kids. How can she get away with this?

Miles' messages to Mia from work leave his girlfriend concerned

DEIDRE SAYS: This is a horrible situation and no, it isn’t fair.

She has treated you appallingly but you are doing well to keep your relationship with your children a priority. In the long term, they will thank you for that.

But we have a no-fault divorce system in this country, which means her behaviour – however cruel – has no bearing on financial matters.

Moving her boyfriend in, however, could have an impact on what she is entitled to. Painful as it must be, try to stay focused and practical.

BEST MATE’S UNHEALTHY HABITS SURE TO KILL HIM

DEAR DEIDRE: I FEAR my best friend is heading for an early grave due to his unhealthy lifestyle.

Worryingly, however many times I tell him he needs to change, he says he’s fine. What can I do?

My friend and I are both approaching 60. We met 30 years ago.

He was a fit, handsome guy then. But now he’s overweight, drinks too much and doesn’t get enough sleep.

He still smokes and he lives on microwave meals and takeaways.

His beer gut is so big, it’s hard to hug him. I worry that he’s a heart attack waiting to happen.

When I talk to him about it he gets annoyed and says I shouldn’t try to change him.

Sometimes, I wonder if he’s a bit lonely and depressed. He’s been single since his divorce.

DEIDRE SAYS: Your best friend is an adult and, sadly, you can’t make him change his ways.

All you can do is show him you’re worried about him, and truly care.

It sounds like he’s in denial. Rather than nagging him, take practical measures to support him. Invite him round for healthy food and offer to help him give up smoking.

Perhaps ask him to join you at the gym or a walking club so you get fit together.

If you think he may be depressed, encourage him to see his doctor. My support pack, Help For Your Depression, might also be useful.

SEX WITH HUBBY IS PAINFUL AND DULL

DEAR DEIDRE: SEX with my husband now feels like just another unpleasant chore, along with the housework or my tax return. So, I’ve told him I won’t be doing it any more.

I feel guilty but I don’t see why I should have to endure something I don’t enjoy, just to make him happy.

We’re in our late forties and have been married for 20 years. We used to have a healthy sex life, but since perimenopause kicked in for me, it’s been downright painful.

My husband still wants to have sex at least once a week and says it’s important for us to be intimate. But I just don’t feel any emotional connection.

Sex is purely a physical act, for his pleasure – an obligation. But this issue is starting to affect our marriage. What should I do?

DEIDRE SAYS: Sex shouldn’t be painful and it shouldn’t feel like a chore.

You need to work together to find a compromise, which may also help to bring you closer.

See your GP about menopause treatments, which should make sex more comfortable, and increase your libido.

Work together to find out what feels good. But the onus shouldn’t be on you to solve this. He needs to respect your feelings too.

Take intercourse off the table while you focus on affection – kissing, cuddling and massaging each other.

Think about having couples counselling.

My support packs, Reviving A Woman’s Sex Drive, and Menopause Problems, should help.

HIS MOODINESS UNDERMINES ME

DEAR DEIDRE: WHENEVER I try to be intimate with my boyfriend, he pushes me away.

But the next minute, he’s all over me, telling me how much he loves me and talking about plans for the future. I’m so confused and barely know whether I’m coming or going.

We’ve been seeing each other for two years and are both in our early thirties.

At the start, he was the perfect boyfriend – always complimenting me and wanting to take me out and show me off.

The sex was amazing, it really felt like he couldn’t get enough of me.

Things started going awry when I moved in with him. He started causing arguments about nothing.

Sometimes, he’ll tell me he wasn’t sure about us, and perhaps I should move out.

The next day, he’ll be full of apologies.

He also seems to have gone off sex, except when he wants it. If I come on to him, he rejects me.

I’m left feeling like I’m walking on eggshells all the time. Whatever I do or say seems to be wrong.

I feel so insecure and can’t understand what he wants from me. But I don’t want to leave him and start all over again. I really thought he was the one.

DEIDRE SAYS: He may not intend to hurt you, but his behaviour is emotionally abusive.

He’s made you feel you can no longer be yourself or express what you want. You’re dancing to his tune, according to his moods.

Perhaps he doesn’t know what he wants. But if that’s the case, you both need to talk to improve the relationship, or mutually decide to split.

Read my support pack, Looking After Your Relationship, and ask him to be honest with you. If nothing changes, it might be best to walk away.

Starting again won’t be easy but you deserve better than to let a man control and diminish you.

People lose their minds when they meet my icon mum – going on tour was run of the mill & only my brother has normal job

RÓISÍN O has revealed how people still “lose their sh*t” when they bump into her iconic mum Mary Black – including Vogue Williams who went weak at the knees for her hero.

The singer-songwriter enjoyed a more unusual upbringing than most, under the watchful eye of the No Frontiers vocalist who has for decades been one of Ireland’s superstars.

The sensational response to Mary’s Electric Picnic performance with her son Danny and daughter Róisín in 2022 confirmed her legend is here to stay, and Vogue also could not hide her enthusiasm on the day.

Dubliner Róisín, 37, told the Irish Sun: “I was playing keys with the Coronas and they were on the main stage at Electric Picnic.

“Backstage there was this massive long marquee tent for all the dressing rooms and across from us was My Therapist Ghosted Me’s Joanne McNally and Vogue Williams.

“I’m such a huge fan of the podcast. “I was like, Oh my God, the girls are across the hall’. So excited.

Listen to Fields Of Dreams on Apple, Spotify, Amazon Music, or wherever you get your podcasts from July 3

“And Vogue came over, she’s so lovely.

“It was like my first time meeting her and she’d come in to say hello to the lads.

“Like, she obviously saw the Coronas on the door.

“And then she saw my mam, she was like, ‘Oh my God. Oh my God, holy sh*t. I’m sorry, I have to go get my sister’.

“Like, ran out of the room and brought her sister back and the two of them just absolutely fangirling over my mam.

“They didn’t even say hello to the lads. It was the funniest thing ever.

‘HUGE FANS’

“They’re actually huge fans. They really love my mam.

“And Vogue and my mam and dad ended up hanging out the whole night, it was so funny.”

She went on: “And then obviously when mam came on stage that night at Electric Picnic the crowd just lost their minds.

“I’ve felt a lot of women and men, but particularly my age now, in their mid-to-late 30s, who grew up listening to Mary Black in the back of the car, on the CD player, whole albums that they know off by heart.

“And when they were kids it was uncool.

“But now they’re in their 30s and they’re like, ‘I love Mary Black’. So yeah, I’m waiting for her to play her own set at the main stage at Electric Picnic.”

LIFE ON TOUR

Róisín is the voice of the Irish Sun’s new podcast, Fields Of Dreams, the story of how Ireland’s music scene changed beyond all recognition from the grim 1970s.

It is the ten-episode story of the musicians’ astonishing successes and failures as the country opened up to become a live-entertainment powerhouse.

Róisín is no stranger to being taken from festival to festival by her ma, who performed at Feile in Thurles in 1990 and 1993 while at the peak of her No Frontiers/A Woman’s Heart fame.

So much so that as a kid, it became run of the mill.

‘CRAZY STUFF’

Róisín said: “Being on tour with my mum, a lot of the time we’d be on a tour bus.

“And they’d all go in for soundcheck and I’d get to stay on the bus and watch all the VCR tapes.

“Like of old movies and all, that I just absolutely loved doing that. And I think coming from Ireland, seeing mam’s reaction then.

“She was doing crazy stuff like Five Nights At The Point back then. I don’t think I realised at the time how amazing that was.

‘BEST THING EVER’

“She has the most crazy stories of being at festivals with Bob Dylan and Van Morrison in the trailer next to her, which is just mind blowing.”

Mary, 70, has opened up about the difficulties of touring while she had three young children at home — Conor (the only member of the family with a “normal” job), Corona’s star Danny, now 40, and Róisín.

She had a three week rule, but it was long enough to put her youngest out.

“And Vogue and my mam and dad ended up hanging out the whole night, it was so funny.”

Róisín O

Róisín explained: “I was on the phone like, ‘Conor did this to me, you have to come home’.

“So she came home like a week early. And I was like, ‘Oh my God, it’s the best thing ever’.

“But then she had to go again for another two weeks.

“And I was so devastated at the end of the week like, ‘You’re going back? I thought you were home?’

“Those parts were hard. But then she took me everywhere with her, like when she was on that LA trip recording her album Shine, I went over and lived in this massive house with her.

MAGICAL CHILDHOOD

“It had a pool and we went to Disney and all these amazing, amazing trips.

“I was all over the world as a kid with her, which was really magical.

“But yeah, the pros and cons to it, we definitely missed her.”

As the siblings grew older, their mother’s fame was a bit mortifying.

Róisín said: “When I was really young, say if we were on holiday together, I would go up to people and be like, ‘Do you know who my mum is? Sorry, I know I just met you, but do you know who my mum is?’

“And that stopped abruptly, I’d say about ten or 11 to the point where I would lie. (If I was asked) what does your mum do, I’d reply ‘Nothing. Just a stay-at-home mum’.

“And then I got into my 20s and I sort of became a mix of the two.”

SOLO CAREER

Róisín has her own solo career as well as performing with the Coronas, and has mixed emotions about being in Mary Black’s shadow.

She said: “Sometimes it’s hard. Obviously, Danny is the same.

“We want people to come to hear our music and it’s hard when people are like, ‘I’m not going to listen to that, that’s Mary Black’s daughter’. So they just judge it before they hear it.

“But at the same time, I definitely have fans who heard I was Mary Black’s daughter and were like, ‘I’m going to go listen to her’.

LABOUR OF LOVE

MUM-to-be Róisín O is going up against Robbie Williams in a bid to put on one last performance before her baby is due.

The Heart and Bones singer goes head to head with the former Take That man when he plays Croke Park on August 23, while she’s on stage at Whelan’s on the same day.

But with her baby on the way in October, she said: “I wouldn’t usually do a gig in the summer.

“But I’m pregnant so I need to get this gig in before this baby arrives, before I can’t move around on stage anymore.

“So Whelan’s will be the only gig you’ll see me at with ‘Bump’ on stage.

“So it will definitely be a night to remember. I’m really looking forward to it.

“I was thinking about not gigging and that was driving me crazy. I really want to get some shows in before baby arrives.”

But there won’t be any major break for the star who plans to be back in action for the Christmas period.

She said: “December is the busiest for musicians. I have a load of shows that I could miss but I don’t want to. It’s the best time of year for gigging.
“I’ll probably take about ten weeks off before I get back to work.”

“So for me, it doesn’t really matter why people have started to listen as long as they like it then I’ve won them over in my own merit.

“I don’t really don’t care. I’m so proud of her as well. She does have this unbelievable career.”

And as for working with her brother’s band?

‘I LOVE IT’

Róisín said: “I love it. I’m there as a session musician. I do backing vocals and I play keys.

“I know all the boys. I’ve grown up with them. We have the best craic on tour. It’s really not work.

“It’s dangerous how much I love it because in a way it stops me from sometimes doing my own gigs but it’s worth it.”

Gareth Bale ‘tables £40m offer to complete takeover of hometown team Cardiff’… less than half what he cost Real Madrid

GARETH BALE has tabled a £40million bid to buy his beloved hometown club Cardiff, according to reports.

A consortium led by Bale has been in the market to buy a football team, having already been linked with a failed move to takeover at Plymouth Argyle.

Current Cardiff owner Vincent Tan, who resides in Malaysia, is open to selling the Welsh club relegated from the Championship to League One in May.

Talks are taking place behind the scenes between Cardiff and a US-based private equity group, reports The Times.

An now an official bid, worth less than HALF of the £85million paid by Real Madrid to Tottenham for Bale in 2013, has been submitted.

The Wales legend spoke publicly for the first time about his plans to take over the League One club at the European premiere of F1: The Movie in London at the end of June.

Bale, 35, said: “We are interested in getting Cardiff. It’s my home club, it’s where I grew up and my uncle used to play for them.

“To be involved with an ownership group would be a dream come true. I would love to be able to be a part of growing Cardiff and taking it to the Premier League where it belongs.”

Bale was born in the Welsh capital in 1989 and his uncle Chris Pike was a prolific striker at The Bluebirds between his nephew’s birth-year and 1993.

Cardiff have reportedly already rejected an undisclosed first bid made by the Bale-led consortium.

Divisive owner Tan, who became the majority owner in 2010, has invested £200million on his way to Cardiff descending to the third tier for the first time in more than 20 years.

That means the new £40million offer is likely to be fiercely rejected, even if it indicates a level of intent by Bale’s team.

It comes just weeks after his former Madrid and Spurs team-mate Luka Modric bought a minority stake in local rivals Swansea City for a reported £1million.

Bale retired from football two years ago after a stellar career in which he won five Champions Leagues with Madrid and 111 caps for his country.

Cardiff, who were relegated from the Championship last season after finishing rock bottom, have just appointed Brian Barry-Murphy as their new manager.

Barry-Murphy has been hired after a disastrous season which saw the club cycle through Erol Bulut, Omer Riza, and Aaron Ramsey (interim) as managers.

Wales‘ greatest-ever player earned an eye-watering £600,000-per-week during his time at Madrid, but also set himself up for well into retirement with a series of business moves.

Bale opened his bar ‘Elevens’ in Cardiff in 2017, before building on that success by combining his next pub venture with his love of golf to open Par 59 five years later.

He has since opened a second Par 59 venue in Bristol, while he has also made a “significant investment” in Penderyn Distillery.
