Lidl Ireland fans set to love new Ninja air fryer dupe with touch screen & 8 preset options – it’s €50 cheaper

LIDL Ireland shoppers are sure to love a new item in the middle aisle that will help save you time when cooking.

The bargain supermarket is set to stock the shelves with a range of affordable kitchen staple equipment and one of them is set to be a major hit.

Lidl

The Silvercrest 1400W Digital Air Fryer is priced at €29.99, reduced from €37.99.

And it is €50 cheaper than the real deal.

The air fryer has excellent benefits, such as creating healthy, low-fat alternatives to deep-fried food without losing flavour.

It cooks food like a traditional convection oven in a small machine and prevents heat loss once it is opened to view the cooking progress.

The digital touch screen lets you control the air fryer based on its temperature, timer and cooking presets.

It features 8 preset cooking functions: broil, frying, baking, rotisserie chicken, defrosting, roasting, blast cook and grilling.

Each preset has its specific temperature and time adjusted for the food in order to achieve the best results.

The temperature can be adjusted from 80 to 200 degrees and the timer setting can range from 0 to 60 minutes.

It also includes a removable frying basket with high-quality ILAG non-sticking coating, ensuring customers will get the best results for their meals.

The max basket capacity is 2.4L, which serves approximately 2-3 people.

For those who worry about the machine overheating, do not fret as it comes with overheating protection, meaning it is very unlikely for it to overheat.

The air fryer features a sleek design that can fit seamlessly into any kitchen decor – and it can be put away in the cupboard.

It also comes with a three-year guarantee.

BARGAIN DUPE

Lidl Ireland’s air fryer is a dupe of Ninja Air Fryer 2.4L, priced at €79.99 – making the dupe version €50 cheaper.

And the best thing is that Lidl Ireland’s dupe version offers more perks than the original product, due to its touch screen, longer timer and cooking features.

Plus, customers will benefit from a modern and sleek design rather than a dated version from Ninja.

The product is set to be available in stores nationwide from July 17 and will last in the middle aisle until August 30.

However, fans are warned it will be a massive sell-out, meaning some customers may have difficulty bagging the bargain.

I’m a food pro – 4 common BBQ mistakes can give you food poisoning in hot weather & you need to be careful with coleslaw

THE hot weather means more and more Brits are opting to grill their dinner outdoors.

However, be careful not to make these common mistakes that can result in food poisoning.

Food experts have warned against making a common mistake when cooking outdoors this summer (stock image)[/caption]

Whether you’re enjoying quiet summer barbecue or grilling up a storm for all your friends and family, be careful when preparing your al fresco meal.

When it comes to outdoor cooking in these hot conditions, you need to take extra precautions.

Certain foods can quickly become dangerous when exposed to the high temperatures and sunlight for too long.

“Most people don’t realise how quickly warm weather turns food dangerous,” Mark McShane, food hygiene expert at Food Hygiene Certificate, told the Express.

Chicken, sausages, and burgers

“In 30 degree Celsius plus heat, chicken left out for just 30 minutes can begin developing unsafe levels of bacteria – and no, cooking it won’t always kill everything,” he explained.

He went on to say that taking chicken and burgers out of the fridge and leaving them by the barbecue for over too long before cooking places the meat in a “danger zone”.

According to the expert, the maximum amount of time meat should stay out of the fridge when the weather is between 25 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius is an hour.

And when temperatures spike over 30 degrees Celsius, the maximum time is cut in half to just 30 minutes.

“We see a spike in food poisoning every time there’s a UK heatwave – and it’s nearly always avoidable,” he explained.

“You can’t ‘see’ or ‘smell’ these bacteria, but they’ll ruin your weekend.

“Cook safely, chill properly and when in doubt, throw it out.”

He added that charred doesn’t mean cooked when it comes to grilling up your barbecue staples.

This is especially important to remember with chicken, sausages, and burgers.

Meat should be cut through to ensure it is safe to eat and if they are pink or the juice isn’t clear, that’s your sign to put them back on the grill.

Coleslaw

The expert also warned Brits about another popular barbecue staple – colelsaw.

Government advice on BBQ safety

The UK Government have issued some guidelines for staying safe whilst using a barbecue:

  • Keep a bucket of water, sand or a garden hose nearby for emergencies.
  • Follow the safety instructions provided with your gas, charcoal, or disposable barbecue.
  • Never use a barbecue indoors, in a tent, under an awning or in a caravan.
  • Use enough charcoal to cover the base of the barbecue, but not more (normally around 5cms or 2 inches).
  • Keep children, pets and garden games away from the cooking area.
  • After cooking, make sure the barbecue is cool before moving it.
  • Empty ashes onto bare garden soil, not into dustbins or wheelie bins. If they’re hot, they can melt the plastic and cause a fire.
  • Make sure your barbecue is well away from sheds, fences, trees, shrubs or garden waste.
  • In the countryside or public park areas, only use disposable barbecues where there are specially designated areas and carefully follow the safety guidance.
  • Enjoy yourself, but don’t drink too much alcohol if you are in charge of the barbecue.
  • Never use petrol or paraffin to start or revive your barbecue; use only recognised lighters or starter fuels on cold coals.

He revealed that sides made with mayonnaise or dairy “can quickly turn dangerous” if left in the sun.

You should also be aware of the dangers of cross-contamination, which the pro said is the most common mistake.

Avoid using the same tongs or chopping food for raw and cooked meat as this can cause salmonella infections.

More BBQ stories

And if you’re planning to host a barbecue get together on a smaller balcony, make sure to heed this warning.

Another little-known danger could also pose a risk when barbecuing this summer.

And barbecue fans can pick up a “no-frills” charcoal grill for just £11 from Argos.

Huge soap star forced to quit Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins after suffering nasty injury

WHILE her ex-husband Liam Gallagher is touring the country with Oasis, Patsy Kensit has revealed that she is currently recovering from a broken shoulder.

But I hear that the ex-EastEnders actress actually injured herself while training in the gym for Channel 4’s Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

An insider tells me: “Patsy had been running at pace on a treadmill while wearing a weighted backpack filled with books and weights as part of her intense training regime.

“The added weight caused her to lose balance and fall backwards off the machine, bruising her arm and shoulder in the process.

“She even flew out to Morocco, where the filming was taking place, but production soon spotted the injury and she was sent home.”

Her agent was grateful that production spotted the injury and she is now recuperating in the UK.

Patsy told fans about her injury after she was spotted wearing a sling at the theatre.

She shared: “I broke my shoulder in 3 places 3 weeks ago!!! I’m healing and a slight boogie with my besties I’m staying with this week will be a tonic for sure …”

Last week the actress, who has son Lennon with Liam,  revealed she won’t be attending any of Oasis’ reunion shows.

She told GMB: “My 24-year-old son, he’ll be there and he’ll have a lovely time.

“Great for him to see all of that and I’m happy for his dad, I think it’s a wonderful thing.”

But she said: “I won’t be attending.”

The actress added: “I send only love and light.”Patsy and Liam were married for three years from 1997 until 2000, and welcomed their son Lennon in 1999.

OnlyFans model I’ve spent £3,000 on makes me feel desired unlike my wife – & now I’m tempted to meet this gorgeous woman

I HAVE fallen for a woman on the OnlyFans website who makes me feel sexy and desired.

To date, I’ve paid out nearly £3,000 on subscriptions and private messages and it’s been money well spent as she gives me the attention my wife doesn’t.

Now I’m really tempted to meet this gorgeous woman but, at £350, the cost is getting steep and I’m not sure how I’ll be able to afford the family holiday.

I’m 45 and my wife is 47. We’ve been married for 20 years and have twin sons.

My wife has never been the most passionate lover but we used to have sex a few times a week. I was happy with that.

However, since she turned 40, things have become dull in the bedroom, almost robotic.

Whenever I suggest we have an early night, she agrees — then I’ll find her, knee-deep in something else like washing the dog.

I started feeling rejected and lonely, so I turned to OnlyFans.

At first it was just for a look. I would watch a couple of videos, then get on with my day.

Things changed when I discovered a stunning woman.

She’s curvy, brunette, and 28.

Her looks and bubbly personality reminded me of my wife when we first met.

I sent her a private message and she replied within minutes.

She sounded thrilled to hear from me and said I sounded really sexy. It boosted my confidence.

I immediately sent my wife a flirty text, hoping for a similar response. She replied after three hours, just asking me to pick up some milk.

When my OnlyFans habit got expensive, I started doing extra hours at work but the costs are starting to catch up with me and I’m getting into debt.

I don’t know what to do.

You are feeling rejected and unloved but looking outside the marriage won’t help.

KEEN TO FIND DAUGHTER I GAVE AWAY

DEAR DEIDRE: TWO decades ago, I gave my daughter up for adoption. Now I’m desperate to reconnect with her but I don’t know where to start.

I’m 36, and I’m engaged to a lovely man. We live a calm, stable life and are thinking of starting a family soon. I know we’ll be good parents.

however, 20 years ago, I was in a very different position.

I was a teenage tearaway, more interested in partying with friends than studying for my GCSEs.

So my very strict parents paid a local boy, just a couple years older than me, to tutor me in maths.

We used to study in the kitchen before my mum got home from work – but studying soon turned to sex.

Clueless about contraception, I trusted him when he said he’d take care of all that – sadly, he didn’t. He relied on the withdrawal method and it wasn’t successful. I had missed four periods before I summoned the courage to tell Mum I was pregnant.

She was furious but my dad was unexpectedly kind and supportive.

However, we agreed as a family that I could never have cared for a baby, and both my parents worked full-time. My daughter was adopted when she was just six weeks old.

I expected to feel relieved, but I’ve felt guilty and emotional ever since.

As I don’t know where my daughter grew up, everywhere I go, I wonder if she is one of the girls walking down the street.

I have so many questions – is she OK? Is she happy? Are her new parents loving? I’d love to be able to chat to her, even just once. Is it too late to trace my daughter?

DEIDRE SAYS:

Feeling guilty and emotional is normal. Even though you had sensible reasons to give your daughter up for adoption, it is still a loss. I’m sure your own parents feel the same.

Read my support pack Tracing An Adopted Child.

The first step I would suggest is contacting pac-uk.org, 020 7284 5879. It offers support and counselling for anyone affected by adoption, from birth parents to children and families.

Because your daughter will now be over 18, you can ask the adoption agency to contact her and see if she’s open to being approached.

You can also note your willingness to be contacted by your daughter on the Adoption Contact Register (gov.uk/adoption-records, 0300 123 1837).

MANIPULATED BY HUBBY OVER BIRTHDAY GIFT

DEAR DEIDRE: MY husband said he would do anything I wanted for my 40th birthday. Instead, I’m paying for us to see his favourite band. How did I end up here?

He’s 41. We’ve been married for six years. For his 40th, I arranged a surprise party with all his friends and a weekend away.

He said he would return the favour for mine – but he didn’t plan anything.

When I suggested ideas he vetoed them all, saying he’d be bored.

Then he started withdrawing from me, claiming to be worried about money. Eventually, I bought us tickets to see his favourite band to cheer him up. Now he’s happy but I’m annoyed.

DEIDRE SAYS: If you keep giving in to him, your 50th birthday will be even worse. He has learnt to manipulate you and he is more concerned with pleasing himself than you. In turn, you feel resentful.

Read my Standing Up For Yourself support pack to teach you assertive communication. Consider it your birthday gift to yourself. Tell him how you feel, and suggest a compromise you’ll enjoy.

GHOSTED BY ‘FRIEND FOR LIFE’

DEAR DEIDRE: A WOMAN I thought was a friend for life has ignored my recent invitations. Have I been what young people call “ghosted”?

My friend and I met at medical school in 1982 and were very close for years. Even after we qualified and moved to different towns, we kept in touch.

I met her children and thought that we all got on very well.

But when I invited her to my retirement party, she didn’t even reply.

Then, more recently, her husband died and I wasn’t invited to his funeral. Have I been ghosted?

DEIDRE SAYS: In the time you’ve spent fretting about this, you could have picked up the phone and had a chat with her.

Is she OK? How is she coping with the loss of her husband? How is her health? Does she still like big parties or would she prefer a cosier catch-up?

Ignoring someone is called “ghosting”, yes. You’ve got the word right, but you might have got your friend’s intentions wrong. Pick up the phone and talk, instead of jumping to conclusions.

SEX-HELP CLINIC

DEAR DEIDRE: I TOLD a promising online date that I didn’t enjoy oral sex – and he blocked me.

Was I unreasonable or was he? It has shattered my confidence.

I’m a 25-year-old woman and have been single for two years. My pal met her lovely boyfriend online so I created a profile on a dating app and started messaging various men.

One bloke looked and sounded great. He lived nearby so we arranged a drink in a local pub. That went well and we ended up going back to his house. We had sex three times. We did lots of different positions and seemed to be in sync. Then he drove me home.

He still seemed keen the next day, so we started planning our next date for the following weekend.

Texts got steamy during the week, and he asked me if I’d be up for pleasuring him with my mouth.

I admitted I wasn’t really a fan of oral sex and I haven’t heard from him since.

Was I wrong to admit I didn’t like it? Is it a part of every relationship? Should I learn to like it?

This has me questioning everything I thought was normal.

DEIDRE SAYS: Between two consenting adults, there is no right, wrong, normal or abnormal in bed.

If you’re not a fan of oral sex, that’s fine. Other people might like it but not enjoy the missionary or spoons positions. Some people can only climax in the wheelbarrow position.

Dating is all about finding someone with whom you’re compatible.

Whenever you start questioning yourself and losing confidence, it’s often a sign that you’re not with the right person. When you are, you will feel loved and special.

Read my support pack, Finding The Right Partner For You, to help you rebuild your confidence, and the one called Love Online which has tips for internet dating. It might also be an idea to hold off on having sex until you know you enjoy and want the same things in a relationship.

That way, if you find you’re on very different pages, you won’t feel quite so vulnerable and upset afterwards.

Good luck!

Joanne Cantwell cracks Katie Taylor joke as RTE panel argue over David Clifford not getting Player of the Match award

JOANNE Cantwell drew a parallel between the judges at Madison Square Garden and the pundits in Croke Park.

The early hours of Saturday morning had seen Katie Taylor again add to her legacy in New York while the evening showcased why Kerry have been All-Ireland favourites for most of the year.

One judge had Taylor-Serrano III a draw while the other two scored it 97-93 in her favour

Upon the Kingdom securing their spot in the July 27 decider, Cantwell quipped that the scene before her was akin to boxing judges debating their scorecards.

Like the goings on in The Big Apple, it wasn’t a unanimous verdict as Sean Cavanagh was out-voted by Tomás Ó Sé and Ciaran Whelan over who should be named Player of the Match.

The Tyrone legend was aghast that David Clifford was overlooked in favour of Joe O’Connor who did put in a powerhouse display in the middle of the park.

He argued: “I think Kerry people underestimate how good David Clifford is because they see him so much.

“Every time I see this guy I see the greatest football I’ve ever laid eyes on.

“There’s plenty of workman-like players 99.9% of players can’t do what David Clifford can do. He can beat you in any way you want.”

To this Whelan countered: “Listen we know Clifford scored 1-9 and we know the genius he is.

“But sometimes the hard work that’s done out the field makes the difference he was phenomenal today box to box and he kicked two points.”

Ó Sé added: “Nobody can say Clifford didn’t deserve it but from the very start it was a workman-like performance and nobody epitomised it more than Joe O’Connor.

“He’s involved in every single thing from start to finish, but if Clifford had got it you couldn’t have argued.”

The Kingdom were angry against Armagh and deadly against the Red Hands as they backed up that quarter-final display with an even better overall performance at Croke Park tonight.

Clifford sizzled in the baking heat with 1-9, his brother Paudie continued to orchestrate their attack as Joe O’Connor lorded the middle and Seanie O’Shea worked tirelessly for the cause.

And Tyrone simply had no answers for a relentless performance as Clifford ran Padraig Hampsey ragged to fire Jack O’Connor’s men into the showpiece against Meath or Donegal

Kerry’s midfield has often been questioned, but O’Connor silenced the doubters in style.

The Austin Stacks man won his epic battle with Conn Kilpatrick, and was the driving force behind their performance as they ruthlessly picked Tyrone apart with 0-9 without reply in the second half.

O’Connor scored 0-2, and covered every blade at Croker until the hooter. Even with seconds to go with his team eight points up, he flung himself in front of Mattie Donnelly’s shot to sum up his shift.

Darragh Canavan showed his class for the Red Hands with 0-7, but Malachy O’Rourke’s men totally ran out of gas as Kerry stayed in top flight.

Brighter days lie ahead for Tyrone on the back of All-Ireland minor and under-20 glory, but this was a big reality check.

Neighbours favourite Stefan Dennis has signed for the new series of Strictly

The soap’s final episode filmed at Nunawading Studios in Australia on Friday, and will air on Amazon Prime in December.

It leaves Stefan free to take to the dancefloor this autumn to impress actress wife Gail Easdale, 52, and their three children.

A source said: “Stefan is a huge character on the soap and is sure to be a hit with Strictly fans.

“BBC bosses are confident Stefan will bring in the ratings.

“He has made no secret of the fact that he would love to star on Strictly and will put his all into the training.”

Paul Robinson’s biggest storyline was in 2005 for the 20th anniversary when he was shoved from a mezzanine — leading to the “Who Pushed P.R?” mystery.

As a singer, Stefan also reached No16 in the UK singles chart with 1989’s Don’t It Make You Feel Good.

Prince Andrew is not off the hook despite FBI dropping probe into his Epstein links, victims’ lawyer warns

PRINCE Andrew is not off the hook despite the FBI dropping its probe into his links to Jeffrey Epstein, warns a lawyer.

The Duke of York, 65, has spent six years fearing arrest if he left the UK.

Mr Kuvin said: “I still don’t think Andrew can sleep soundly.

With the quick change of administration or new leadership at the Department of Justice, the investigation could be reopened or continued.

Andrew needs to visit the US to answer questions from the FBI.

“Avoiding this, merely makes people think he’s guilty.”

Andrew insists he never saw or suspected any sex crimes in the time he spent with Epstein, and has always denied claims by Virginia Giuffre he abused her aged 17.

She died aged 41 in Australia in April, while Epstein died in a New York jail in 2019.
There is no statute of limitations for federal sex crimes in the US, meaning allegations against Andrew could be brought again at any time.

He is not thought to have travelled to the US since meeting Epstein in New York in 2010.

Andrew’s representatives were contacted for comment.

'There is no way back for Prince Andrew', claims PR guru

PRINCE Andrew’s reputation is damaged beyond repair and he will never be able to engineer a return to public life, according to one of Britain’s top PR gurus.

Brand and culture expert Nick Ede, who runs East of Eden PR agency, called the shamed royal “deluded” for thinking he could ever return to royal duties and urged him to give up and ‘enjoy his life’ in exile.

It follows the release of Scoop – a Netflix movie based on the 2019 interview he gave to Newsnight.

Nick said: “There is no way back for him.

“I think you know this perpetual idea that he could still be back. Nobody cares. He hasn’t got fans.

“There’s nobody out there who’s going ‘We want to see Prince Andrew’, not one single person. I think he has to realise that. But I think it’s going to take a long, long time for him to actually understand. It’s very deluded.

“In my opinion, the best thing that he could do is just enjoy his life. He’s got gorgeous daughters. He has a great relationship with Fergie, he has a lovely house.

“Just live a quiet life.”

Reflecting on the interview five years ago – the fallout of which saw Andrew step back from royal duties “for the foreseeable future” – Nick compared the fallout to Frost vs Nixon and said he would have urged him not to do it.

He said: If I had been advising him, I would say, go quiet, be quiet, just go to ground. You know you’re a prince. Enjoy the life that you lead, but do not open this can of worms, because that’s what it is.

There was no admission that a relationship with somebody like Epstein was terribly toxic. There was no idea that there were loads of victims of trafficking whose lives were completely ruined by Epstein. He didn’t seem to think that the association he had with that man was anything but positive.

“I think his worst gaffe was obviously being in that interview and agreeing to it in the first place, for not realising that he’s actually going to be interviewed by a very, very good journalist who is going to ask him questions which he might not like.

“But I think what this has done is really shown how archaic Prince Andrew is in his opinions and thoughts.

“Read the room. He’s never read a room at all.”

He said: “Freddy’s very sensitive and wants to please. And when he grows up a little bit that will serve him well.

“There are things I don’t like about him and there are things about me he doesn’t like. Freddy will be OK, I don’t know if he looks up to me, but I look up to him in many ways, but he’s a good boy.”

It comes after the Sun on Sunday revealed the brothers’ TV host dad Jeff, 46, has a court date in his bid to stop Freddy seeing maternal gran Jackiey Budden, 68 — mother of late Big Brother star Jade Goody — amid concerns over his well-being.

Freddy teamed up with his dad last month to present This Morning’s competition segment from Malta. The pair previously competed in BBC One’s Celebrity Race Across the World last year

Meanwhile, Bobby is to leave EastEnders in September.

He said: “It’s mixed feelings, it’s been a wonderful three years and I’ve learned so much, so it feels like home. It’s like a family there.”

Last month, we revealed he had received a wave of work offers after being a runner-up on Strictly Come Dancing in 2023.

It led to him winning Best Supporting Actor in a TV Series for his role in Paramount+ drama Curfew, at the National Film Awards in West London on July 3.

Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, Bobby said he now has his sights on Hollywood.

He said: “I’d like be around people who’ve mastered what they do and absorb as much of that as I can. I’d love to work with Joaquin Phoenix, I think he’s incredible. Even to watch him on set would be amazing.”

Inside Bobby Brazier's burgeoning TV career

Bobby Brazier has risen through the ranks to become a well known face on British TV.

As the son of Jade Goody and Jeff Brazier, he has been well-known amongst the public from a young age.

Bobby first embarked on a showbiz career when he was just 16-years old when he started modelling.

The star made his catwalk debut in 2020 at Milan Fashion Week, but it wasn’t long before he had his eyes on a TV career.

He shot to prominence in 2022 when he was cast as Freddie Slater in EastEnders.

The incredibly acting skills displayed on screen earned him the National Television Award in the ‘Rising Star’ category.

His famous dad was in tears as Bobby accepted the award on stage in front of the likes of Holly Willoughby and Alison Hammond.

It wasn’t long before BBC bosses wanted him to take part in the 21st series of Strictly Come Dancing.

He clearly impressed the viewers with his dancing skills as he made the grand final and was a runner-up.

Since then, viewers were delighted when he returned to his role in the long-running BBC One soap.

EastEnders actor arrested by cops on set over ‘indecent assault’ as shocked stars including Adam Woodyatt watch on

COPS arrested an actor on the EastEnders set over an alleged indecent assault — as shocked stars including Adam Woodyatt looked on.

Stars had been filming scenes when cameras stopped rolling after a woman complained a fellow extra, a man in his 50s, had tried to forcibly snog her.

Security rushed to grab the man which is said to have triggered a scuffle.

He was eventually handed over to police at Elstree Studios, Hertfordshire.

The man was held on suspicion of indecent assault of the female extra, and of common assault against a separate person — understood to be linked to the commotion escorting him away.

He remains on bail while the complaint is investigated.

Filming then resumed following a lengthy break, during which the woman was looked after by staff from the BBC soap.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: “In all the years of filming EastEnders nothing this dramatic has happened — with police turning up at the studios.

“Everyone was quite shaken up by it all. No one could quite believe what was happening.

“The main focus was the woman’s welfare as she was clearly very distressed.

“Obviously filming had to be stopped while the incident was dealt with by production managers and security.

“It got very heated when the man squared up to the security staff as they tried to calm things.

“Eventually he was questioned and taken away by police.”

Hertfordshire Police said in a statement: “We can confirm we did receive a report of an incident that took place in Eldon Avenue, Borehamwood on Wednesday May 7.

“The suspect, a man aged in his 50s, was arrested on suspicion of common assault and sexual assault in relation to two victims.

“He is on police bail whilst enquiries continue.”

‘Extremely difficult situation’

The soap’s longest-serving star Adam, 57, who plays Ian Beale, was one of those who had been filming on set when the alleged indecent assault took place.

Other stars of the soap, filming just yards from the Queen Vic pub, were also said to be present.

It is understood the cameras did not capture footage of the alleged attack.

The source added: “Filming was actually going on in the fictional Albert Square set at the time the woman made her complaint.

“She was working as an extra, as was the alleged assailant.

“She complained that he had tried to kiss her without her consent.

“Everyone involved in the production, including the cast and crew, acted very responsibly in an extremely difficult situation.

Adam Woodyatt was one of the star names who were involved in filming at the time.

“They had to look after the woman while also reporting it to the police who turned up at the studios and arrested the man.”

Directors ordered a lengthy break before the shaken actors and crew could resume filming.

Crew members were said to be grateful to bosses for their “professionalism and understanding” in how it was handled.

Last night EastEnders said in a statement: “While we would never comment on individuals, EastEnders has on-site security and well-established procedures in place to safeguard the safety and welfare of everyone who works on the show.”

Adam appeared in the soap’s first episode in 1985.

He also played a major role in the show’s 40th anniversary episodes this February when his fictional wife Cindy’s Christmas Day attacker was revealed.

The couple have been reunited after he took a break from the soap in 2021 to appear in I’m A Celebrity and a touring theatre play.

When Adam returned to Albert Square, his character Ian was reunited with his presumed dead wife Cindy (Michelle Collins), who was revealed to have been in witness protection.

Throughout his long tenure in the soap’s fictional Walford, Ian has been married six times to five women and had two failed engagements.

He has also fathered three children and acted as a father figure to much younger half-brother Ben Mitchell.

Last month we exclusively revealed an extra was arrested on the set of Disney+ drama Rivals an hour after he filmed a scene with Danny Dyer.

Nigel Adams, 45, was led away by cops in handcuffs from the set at Berkeley Castle in Gloucestershire, accused of assaulting his then ex-girlfriend.

He was charged and appeared at Bristol crown court last Monday but the case was dropped after the alleged victim declined to give evidence.

In another case of an on-set arrest, Vanilla Ice — real name Robert Van Winkle — was held on suspicion of burglary during filming of reality TV show The Vanilla Ice Project in Florida in 2015.

Andy Carroll seals shock transfer to SIXTH TIER of English football and jokes ‘my kids thought I was joining Chelsea’

ANDY CARROLL joked his kids thought he was joining Chelsea after sealing a shock move to sixth-tier Dagenham and Redbridge.

The former Newcastle, Liverpool and West Ham striker, 36, will play in the National League South for the new season following a takeover by a Qatari investment group.

Carroll is returning to England, having left French fourth-tier club Bordeaux at the end of last term.

The ex-Three Lions ace said: “I’m really excited to get started with Dagenham.

“My kids thought I was signing for Chelsea — they’ll be in for a shock.

“It’s a fantastic location and close to my kids, they will be able to come and see me play.

“I really enjoyed my time in Bordeaux but it’s time for me to get settled with my family.

“I’m hoping my kids will bring their friends to see me play.

“ I didn’t want to finish playing football and I’m really excited to get involved in the leadership side and be a player.

“I’ve got experience in seeing how clubs are run, of all levels. I think I can add value.

“My first job is to go in as a player, I want to get them promoted.

“I was offered clubs with a lot more money, but I realised Dagenham was a project that I really wanted to get into.

“I want to help as many players and staff from my experience and background as possible.

“I was getting offers from clubs in France, Italy and Spain, but I wanted to come home.

“I could sign for a top club, but me and the managers might not see eye to eye, so I just want to be somewhere I’m going to be happy.”

Carroll – once a British record transfer when he signed for Liverpool in a £35million deal from Newcastle in 2011 – will be managed by ex-Bournemouth and Manchester City striker Lee Bradbury.

Andy Carroll's career path

Carroll's meteoric rise might not have lived up to expectations, but it has been a career full of twists and turns

2006 – Begins to break through with the senior team as a teenager at Newcastle

2011 – Joins Liverpool for a club record fee of £35million

2012 – Leaves Liverpool for West Ham loan before joining permanently for just £15million

2019 – Returns to Newcastle after a long but inconsistent spell in East London

2021 – Joins Reading following the expiry of his Newcastle contract

2022 – Leaves Reading for a short spell with West Brom, but quickly returns to the Royals

2023 – Moves abroad for the first time in his career with second division French side Amiens SC

2024 – Makes headlines by joining fourth-tier French side Bordeaux following their relegation over financial issues, plays for less than minimum wage

2025 – Departs Bordeaux amicably and returns to English football with Dagenham and Redbridge.

But having amassed a fortune playing in the Premier League, Carroll insists he is no longer motivated by money.

He said: “I’m very fortunate to be a footballer and earn the money that I’ve earned. I’m lucky to get paid for a hobby.

“It’s never been about the money for me, I could have signed for a lot more money. I just love playing football.”

Geordie Carroll won nine England caps, scoring twice, including a header against Sweden at Euro 2012.
