Luke Littler record smashed by former youth rival, 19, in incredible darts demolition

LUKE LITTLER’S record best average in the PDC Development Tour has been smashed by a 19-year-old.

The Nuke has taken darts by storm since his emergence in 2023 but could soon come up against some other young contenders.

Charlie Manby achieved an astonishing average in the PDC Development Tour

Littler, 18, is considered one of the best at the oche at the moment and is the reigning world champion.

However, he will have to keep an eye on the new players that are coming through.

Charlie Manby, 19, pulled off an astonishing 130.70 average during his most recent PDC Development Tour victory.

He claimed a whitewash 4-0 win over Patrick Williams in a destructive manner.

Manby started the game with a 180 and won the opening leg in 13 darts – his worst effort in the match.

His second leg took him just ten darts while his next two were just 12 shots each.

His average bettered Littler’s previous record best on the tour before he joined the seniors.

The Warrington thrower’s highest average at the level was 115.22 which was back in 2023.

This ranks as the seventh best in the tour records as three other players also broke the 120 mark.

Those were Bradley Brooks, Gert Nentjes, and Owen Bates.

Table of best development tour one-match averages by player and year.

It is the highest ever in the 15-year history of the development tournaments.

Manby still has a way to go if he is to completely usurp Littler’s record-best average.

In Littler’s run to become world champion, he recorded a set average of 140.91 against Ryan Meikle.

It was the best-ever average set at the tournament during an entire set.

Littler has already come face to face with Manby as they played each other at the Isle of Man Classic Youth In 2023.

They played each other in the final, and Littler dominated to a 5-1 victory.

Meanwhile, Littler suffered a disappointing night in the Premier League Darts last week.

In Dublin, the Nuke was dumped out by Gerwyn Price and tossed his darts to the ground in frustration.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire viewers fuming after star uses three lifelines on ‘easy’ question – would you have got it?

WHO Wants To Be A Millionaire viewers were left raging after a contestant burned through all three lifelines on a question they deemed ridiculously easy.

Olympic champion cyclist Dame Laura Kenny and Channel 4 News anchor Krishnan Guru-Murthy tried to win up to £1 million for their chosen charities.

However, ITV viewers were left gobsmacked when the Olympic legend burned through three lifelines on a question they thought was a breeze.

The five-time gold medalist stormed through the early rounds but hit a roadblock at £16,000 when asked which 1980s film had sequels titled Afterlife and Frozen Empire.

Despite having Ghostbusters as an option, she turned to host Jeremy Clarkson, 50:50, and even phoned a friend – leaving fans at home in disbelief.

Jeremy admitted that he was not 100% certain either, but ruled out The Terminator and Top Gun.

Fans flocked to social media to slam the blunder, with many insisting they knew the answer straight away.

One viewer raged: “How the heck did neither this Olympian or Jeremy Clarkson know that Afterlife and Frozen Empire are Ghostbusters movies?

“The latter literally came out last year! Such an easy question it could have been a thousand pound one.”

Another added: “Was ‘Afterlife’ not a bit of a clue as to what the answer might be?”

A third penned: “She should have phoned a friend and he would have said who you going to call and she would have said Ghostbusters.”

A fourth chimed in: “Using the lifelines on these questions is just madness.”

A fifth wrote: “Stop faffing about! It’s Ghostbusters!!!”

Despite the blunder, Dame Laura still walked away with £8,000 for her chosen charity, The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust.

Not quite the million-pound jackpot – but a solid effort!

Hardest Quiz Show Questions

Would you know the answers to some of quizzing TV's hardest questions

  • Who Wants To Be A Millionaire – Earlier this year, fans were left outraged after what they described as the “worst” question in the show’s history. Host Jeremy Clarkson asked: “From the 2000 awards ceremony onwards, the Best Actress Oscar has never been won by a woman whose surname begins with which one of these letters?” The multiple choice answers were between G, K, M and W. In the end, and with the £32,000 safe, player Glen had to make a guess and went for G. It turned out to be correct as Nicole Kidman, Frances McDormand and Kate Winslet are among the stars who have won the Best Actress gong since 2000.
  • The 1% Club – Viewers of Lee Mack’s popular ITV show were left dumbfounded by a question that also left the players perplexed. The query went as follows: “Edna’s birthday is on the 6th of April and Jen’s birthday falls on the 15th of October, therefore Amir’s birthday must be the ‘X’ of January.” It turns out the conundrum links the numbers with its position in the sentence, so 6th is the sixth word and 15th is the fifteenth word. Therefore, Amir’s birthday is January 24th, corresponding to the 24th word in the sentence.
  • The Chase – The ITV daytime favourite left fans scratching their heads when it threw up one of the most bizarre questions to ever grace the programme. One of the questions asked the player: “Someone with a nightshade intolerance should avoid eating what?” The options were – sweetcorn, potatoes, carrots – with Steve selecting sweetcorn but the correct answer was potatoes.

Rangers ‘put coach in charge of training as two assistants follow Philippe Clement OUT of Ibrox’

IT’S day one of the post-Philippe Clement era at Rangers.

With the Gers now searching for a new permanent manager, there’s a need for someone to step up to lead first team affairs.

Stephen van der Heyden and Alex Rae have reportedly left the club[/caption]

For now, that man appears to be Issame Charai.

The 42-year old was appointed assistant manager to Clement just a month ago.

The Rangers Review are reporting that Charai is the man who will lead first team training at Auchenhowie today.

The report also claims that coaches Alex Rae and Stephan van der Heyden have also LEFT Rangers.

They both worked under Clement during the Belgian’s entire spell in charge.

That spell came to an end when Clement was sacked last night in the wake of Saturday’s dire 2-0 defeat to St Mirren at the weekend.

Those exits leave Charai as the most senior first team coach left at Rangers.

While he’s taking training, it has yet to be confirmed whether or not he will be installed as the club’s official interim manager.

Charai joined Rangers following the exit of Clement’s previous assistant, Andries Ulderink.

An experienced coach, Charai was in charge of Morocco’s under-23 team between 2023 and 2024 and led them to the U23 Africa Cup of Nations title.

Charai spent his entire playing career in Belgium and after a spell coaching in Saudi Arabia, spent several years back in Belgium as No2 to Marc Brys at various clubs.

The Moroccan national job was his first job as a No1 and he most recently worked as assistant at Strasbourg in France.

Rangers chiefs are of course locked in takeover talks with supremos from the San Francisco 49ers.

That will likely lead to a delay in any permanent manager being appointed.

In terms of that permanent gig, SunSport revealed last night that former Gers defender Russell Martin is one of the names in the frame to land the role.

He’s available after departing Southampton earlier this season.

Former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard was installed as the early bookmakers’ favourite following the decision to sack Clement.

Flight horror as pilot bitten by TARANTULA & has allergic reaction mid-air after spider crawled on plane at Casablanca

A PILOT was bitten by a tarantula and suffered an allergic reaction in a horrifying mid-air drama.

The spider crept onto the plane during a stopover in the Moroccan city of Casablanca before the jet carried on to Spain.

The Iberia plane’s onwards journey was delayed so it could be fumigated and the pilot treated with anti-inflammatory medicine.

The mid-air drama occurred on Friday afternoon on an Iberia Airbus A320 flying between Dusseldorf in Germany and Madrid’s Barajas Airport.

It is understood the spider crawled onto the plane earlier in the week.

The plane was fumigated when it reached the Spanish capital, prompting a three-hour delay which led to passengers waiting to board for its onward journey to the Galician city of Vigo being informed about what had happened.

The pilot is said to have been treated with Urbason, the marketing name for a medication called Methylprednisolone widely used in the treatment of inflammatory diseases and to reduce the inflammation and symptoms associated with severe allergic reactions.

It was not immediately clear this morning if he needed medical assistance when he reached Madrid although Iberia has said he is doing fine and has suffered no lasting health effects.

After leaving Casablanca to return to Madrid on Tuesday, the plane the spider appeared on had touched down in cities including Brussels, Zurich and Toulouse.

Galician newspaper La Voz de Galicia said some passengers were constantly checking their seats and the aisle for fear other spiders had got onto the plane despite the fumigation before it touched down in Vigo around midnight on Friday.

Last November a plane was grounded for five days after more than 130 hamsters in the hold managed to escape their cages as maintenance workers tried to round up the power-eating rodents.

Baggage handlers are said to have discovered the cages the animals were in had been damaged and 132 of them were roaming around the cargo hold when the POUNDS 83 million Airbus 320 touched down in the Azores archipelago capital Ponta Delgada on Sao Miguel Island.

The hamsters were reportedly part of a delivery for a pet shop on the island which also included ferrets and some birds.

The mass four-legged break-out prevented the aircraft from returning to the Portuguese capital Lisbon where it had started its journey.

Last January chaos erupted on a domestic AirAsia Thailand flight between Bangkok and the southern province of Phuket after a live snake was discovered by passengers in an overhead bin.

In February 2022, a spotted python was found onboard one of the airline’s domestic flights in Malaysia traveling from the capital Kuala Lumpur to Sabah.

The plane ended up being re-routed to Kuching International Airport in the state of Sarawak because of the incident.

Videos and photos of the 2022 incident went viral on social media and showed the reptile slithering through the plane’s light fixtures.

The airline said in a statement at the time: “This is a very rare incident which can occur on any aircraft from time to time.”

‘I’d drop everything for Rangers’ – Ally McCoist says he would jump at the chance to replace Philippe Clement at Ibrox

ALLY McCOIST has told Rangers he is prepared to quit all of his media commitments at the drop of a hat to take over again at Ibrox.

The Rangers legend, 62, was shocked to discover he’s one of the many names in the frame to replace Philippe Clement in Govan.

The Belgian was finally sacked by Ibrox chiefs on Sunday following Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to St Mirren.

Patrick Stewart and Fraser Thornton eventually came to the decision to axe Clement last night and have already started the process of finding his replacement.

Several former Rangers men have been linked with the job in the hours following, with Steven Gerrard the favourite and sacked Southampton boss Russell Martin also in the running.

McCoist has found himself being touted for the role as a heavy outsider by the bookmakers too.

He found out this morning that he’s actually priced at 33/1 to become the next Gers manager.

It would see him make a stunning return to the Ibrox hot-seat after already spending three years in the position previously.

He was the Rangers manager between 2011 and 2014 after Walter Smith stepped down.

McCoist was quizzed on talkSPORT this morning if he would be interested in replacing Clement at Ibrox.

But the Rangers legend admitted there’s one thing standing in his way.

He doesn’t want to leave his radio pal Jeff Stelling.

However, he joked that even he’s tempted to put some money on himself given the odds.

McCoist said: “I tell you what, it would break Jeff’s heart. I might put a couple of quid on that if it’s 33/1!

“But I couldn’t do it to Jeff.”

Stelling laughed: “Well you couldn’t take the drop in salary, could you Coisty?”

TROPHIES: 1 (2023 League Cup)

He added: “He wouldn’t just be leaving me. He would be leaving talkSPORT, TNT, and his EIGHT other day jobs as well!”

Earlier in the breakfast show though, McCoist did reveal he would jump at the chance of becoming the Rangers manager again.

Stelling asked him if he’d drop his MANY commitments to return to Ibrox.

Laughing, McCoist said: “Listen, you know me, I’d drop everything for Rangers! You included!”

‘There’s going to be blood shed, and it ain’t gonna be mine’ – Anthony Joshua still thinks Tyson Fury fight will happen

ANTHONY JOSHUA has vowed to spill Tyson Fury’s blood in an epic Battle of Britain – if his rival comes out of retirement.

The pair’s long-overdue domestic dust-up seemed finally set to come to fruition after Fury’s back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk last year.

But Fury threw a major spanner into the works last month by announcing his FIFTH retirement, although AJ isn’t giving up hope of putting a brutal beating on the Gypsy King.

The former two-time unified heavyweight champion told iFL TV: “I feel like it’s the best fight [for me].

“People might say [Joseph] Parker, people might say – I don’t know.

“But I think Fury, commercially, is a great fight and it’s a great man’s fight as well. So I think it makes sense.

“You could say it’s been years in the making. But listen, the heavyweight division has been thriving.

“And why I say it’s probably still a great fight is as I said Parker is, for me, a great story of someone that never gives up.

“And the thing is, there is going to be one winner and one loser and there’s going to be bloodshed. And it ain’t gonna be mine.”

Fury, 36, has remained radio silent on his fighting future since his latest hanging up of the gloves.

But Joshua isn’t convinced we’ve seen the last of the Wythenshawe warrior.

“Has he retired with the possibility of coming back?” Joshua asked when quizzed about Fury’s retirement “Yes.

“Has he retired? Yes. Is he going to come back next month? No. In short, he might come back but he is retired.”

Joshua, 35, hasn’t set foot inside the ring since his brutal fifth-round KO defeat to former sparring partner Daniel Dubois last September.

A February rematch with Triple D was on the cards before his team convinced him to rest and recover from niggling injuries.

And he’s keeping his cards close to his chest over when he’ll next be back in the squared circle.

When asked about his ring return, AJ said: “More fights, this is my life, this is what I do.

“Right now I sit outside and I watch and then I’ll make my return one day.

“Right right I sit back as a fan and watch the great people in the sport I love.”
