Man, 50s, arrested by gardai investigating murder of OAP strangled to death in Tipperary home as probe ‘ongoing’

A MAN, aged in his 50s, has been arrested by gardai investigating the death of an 89-year-old woman who was strangled to death in 2024.

A murder investigation was launched after Josephine ‘Josie’ Ray was found dead at her home in St Joseph’s Park in Nenagh, Co Tipperary on August 4 2024.

In a statement this morning, a garda spokesperson confirmed the arrested man is being quizzed in relation to the investigation.

A statement said: “Gardai in Nenagh continue to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman, whose body was discovered at a residence at St Joseph’s Park, Nenagh, County Tipperary, on the afternoon of Sunday, 4th August 2024.

“A male in his 50s was arrested today, Thursday 3rd July 2025 in relation to this investigation.

“He is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

“Investigations are ongoing.”

Josie was remembered as a “true lady” who was “one of a kind” at her funeral mass at St Mary of the Rosary Church in Nenagh last year.

Josie’s granddaughter Rosie broke down as she spoke with great affection about her granny who loved dancing, style and jewellery.

She told mourners: “My nanny Josie as we all knew her was a lady.

“She loved her style. Always in glitter. She loved her jewellery.

“She was some woman for dancing and anything that was on in town she would be at it with my mother Sarah. Always up for a laugh and a dance.

“She had a great heart. She always said to me, ‘Rosie I will never forget you for doing that’.

“Just the little things I would do for her like going to the shop and making cups of tea. She really appreciated everything.”

“Many of you will be aware of some of the issues I’ve dealt with in the past and unfortunately, over the last few months I have been dealing with a lot of these issues again.

“It has gotten to a point where I really need to put all my energy into getting back on track.”

“I’m disappointed that l’m not going to be able to see you all, but, hopefully I will see you in 2026 for the rescheduled shows.”

The 30-year-old continued: “I’m very sorry to everyone that was coming see me.

“I understand many of you will have made arrangements to be at the gigs. If it was possible I would love to do them, but I have to accept that it isn’t possible at this time.

Noone has been open about his previous struggles with agoraphobia, which left him housebound for five years.

Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz look loved up in photos that ‘sparked family feud rumours’ after missing David’s 50th

BROOKLYN Beckham and Nicola Peltz look smitten in a new fashion campaign after the shoot sparked rumours of a family feud.

The pair flew to London for the advertising campaign in May, days after snubbing his dad David’s 50th birthday celebrations.

David and Victoria were heartbroken when Brooklyn and Nicola snubbed the birthday celebrations[/caption]

It came after they missed David’s 50th party in Miami, his fishing trip with his Cruz and Romeo, an intimate dinner at their Cotswolds home and his star-studded birthay bash in London.

Sources said the snub was a “dagger to the heart” for his parents.

Two weeks later the couple, who live in Los Angeles, jetted to London for the Moncler shoot but failed to meet up with Brooklyn’s family.

The photos for the Italian fashion brand have finally been released and show Brooklyn snuggling into Nicola in a series of romantic moments.

The Sun revealed they landed the six figure deal with the designer firm and shot the photos minutes away from the Beckhams’ home in West London.

They were also up the road from where David was, attending the Chelsea Flower Show with King Charles and Queen Camilla.

An insider said at the time: “Brooklyn and David couldn’t have been closer in distance.

“It strikes a chord knowing how close in distance Brooklyn was to David given how tense their relations have been recently.

“Brooklyn was filming five minutes away by car.”

Rumours about a feud with the Beckham clan and Nicola, 30, have circulated since her £3million wedding to Brooklyn, 26, in Florida.

Since then, the alleged clash has intensified after Brooklyn snubbed all four parties that were thrown for his ex-footballer dad David to celebrate his birthday.

This week, more upset was caused when photos were shared showing Brooklyn enjoying a party for his father-in-law, Nelson Peltz’s birthday.

NICOLA HITS BACK

Nicola wrote how “lucky” she was to be his daughter before adding that he provided them with “constant love and support”.

Now Brooklyn and his family’s fans have waded in.

The post received backlash from Beckham supporters, with some accusing Nicola of “controlling her husband.

However, there were also supportive messages, with one fan writing: “The fact people are in this comment section talking bs about someone controlling a GROWN man is absurd.

“The guy is an adult and can make his own decisions, leave them be and stop blaming women for everything.”

Nicola then was seen “liking” the comment, as she agreed with what the fan was saying.

In another twist, Brooklyn was recently backed by his godfather Sir Elton John.

Aspiring chef Brooklyn posted a photo with wife Nicola last week, which got Elton’s approval.

Elton wrote: “Happy Anniversary to the sweetest, most loving couple,” followed by love hearts, and his husband David added his own comment, which read: “Happy Anniversary to the gorgeous couple.”

Elton is Brooklyn’s godfather and they’re very close, regularly going on trips abroad together over the years.

Both Victoria and David failed to comment on or like their son’s anniversary post.

It was recently revealed that the situation has become so severe that Brooklyn is no longer on speaking terms with his siblings.

This week The Sun revealed David was in hospital for a secret operation on his wrist.

Wife Victoria shared a pic from his hospital bedside, writing “get well soon daddy”.

My grandma is 91 & ‘flawless’ – she washes her face with 5p baby wipes instead of tap water & her other top tip is FREE

A 91-YEAR-OLD grandmother has revealed the advice she swears by for “flawless” skin.

Not only does she never wash her face with tap water and instead uses baby wipes, but she also has a free hack beauty fans must try.

Not only does she never wash her face with tap water, but she also demonstrated a free hack she swears by for a lifted look[/caption]

Posting on social media, Ava Stanley, a content creator from Ireland, introduced her followers to her 91-year-old grandmother and eagerly showed off her “perfect skin.”

Her stylish grandmother moved towards the camera, as Ava beamed: “Look at how healthy your skin is – come close, show them how beautiful your skin is.”

The pensioner then shared her first piece of advice for those wanting youthful skin, as she recommended: “Don’t wash your face with soap and water.”

This grandmother expressed that to combat ageing, she will never use tap water on her face, as she instead advised: “No, just cream it and then get a damp sponge or baby wipe and just gently [wipe].”

If you’ve been washing your face with tap water and want to follow this woman’s baby wipe advice, you’ll be pleased to know that you can buy a 46 pack of Pampers Harmonie Baby Wipes for only £2.50 from Superdrug, which works out at just 5p a wipe.

As well as this, Ava’s grandmother also swears by a tapping technique for a lifted complexion.

Instead of using ice rollers or a gua sha, this elderly woman simply uses her fingers to tap in circular motions around her cheeks and towards temples.

Demonstrating her lifting technique, she stressed: “Keep doing the tapping [on your cheeks] and outwards and up. Not down, never down – up and out.”

Ava then revealed a hack she was told by a “skincare expert”, which her grandmother also agrees with – using rose water.

Ava acknowledged: “Safe to say grandma rates the Biofresh Skincare Rose Water too.”

Beaming with her family member’s complexion, Ava gushed: “You look gorgeous, but, yeah, that’s the skincare tips.”

The TikTok clip, which was posted just 14 hours ago under the username @ava.stanley11, has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly raked up 86,000 views.

Biggest skincare trends for 2025

Face The Future’s Head of Clinic, Kimberley Medd, shared the five skincare trends predicted to take off in 2025.

1. Exosomes

Exosomes are the buzzword for 2025, taking advanced skin regeneration to new heights. These micro-messengers signal skin cells to repair damage, boost collagen, and accelerate recovery, and they’re a gamechanger for targeting ageing.

2. Streamlined Skincare

The age of 12-step routines is fading as consumers shift to more intentional, multi-functional products. Streamlining skincare not only saves time but also reduces the risk of overloading your skin. In 2025, we’ll see a rise in hybrid products that combine active ingredients for simplified, effective results.

3. Vegan Collagen

Plant-based collagen will dominate the skincare world this year, providing a sustainable, ethical alternative to traditional animal-derived collagen. Expect vegan collagen in everything from moisturisers to serums.

4. The Rise Of AI

AI is revolutionising the beauty landscape, making it possible for consumers to get truly personalised skincare solutions. In 2025, we predict a dramatic shift towards AI-powered tools that help people understand their skin on a deeper level.

5. Hair Loss Solutions –

Hair loss is an issue that affects more men than we often realise, and it’s no longer just something we’re talking about behind closed doors. This year, expect to see a continued rise in demand for treatments that not only tackle hair loss but also nurture overall scalp health.

Not only this, but it’s also amassed 8,599 likes, 79 comments and 539 saves.

Social media users eagerly raced to the comments to share their thoughts on the grandmother’s “fantastic” and “flawless” skin.

One person said: “Amazing woman. She is so beautiful.”

God bless her, great skincare tips

TikTok user

Another added: “My lord she doesn’t look over 50, what a beautiful lady.”

A third gushed: “She looks so young omg!!!”

At the same time, one beauty fan beamed: “God bless her, great skincare tips.”

Whilst one content creator gasped: “Stop it she is GLOWING.”

Meanwhile, someone else wrote: “My mother says the same thing and her skin is amazing.”

The mum-of-two admitted she was left sobbing when she discovered what her daughter had done.

“My two-year-old wants to show you the haircut she’s given herself and you’d better say something nice,” Chloe began, with the TikTok video following the format of a current viral trend.

She then introduced Mila onto the screen, as she said: “Wow, gorgeous.

“Are you pleased with yourself?”

The little girl showed that she’d taken the scissors to the front of her hair, with Chloe captioning the video: “Honestly if I don’t laugh I’ll cry!”

“Oh gosh Mila,” Chloe’s mum Sue commented on the video.

“Must admit I did a proper open gasp when you sent me the picture this morning.

“I think she’s actually proud of herself!

“She’s just getting herself ready for her birthday in a few weeks!”

“Why do they always have to take it to the scalp though?!” another added.

“My daughter did this and I actually cried a whole river!”

“Honestly it looks like she’s shaved it,” Chloe replied.

“I can’t believe how much she’s cut!! So upset I cried loads!”

“Oh Mila,” someone else wrote.

“I’d definitely cry so well done Chloe!”

“No I did cry when I first saw it, can’t lie haha,” Chloe replied.

Hair re-growth FAQs

Anabel Kingsley, Consultant Trichologist and Brand President at Philip Kingsley spoke exclusively to Fabulous.

How long does it take for hair to grow back?

Hair grows, on average, half an inch a month. You cannot speed this up.

Do rosemary oil and scalp massages work?

Oils do not promote hair growth. In terms of rosemary oil, the current trend stems from one small study carried out on 50 men in 2015. No women were involved, and the study compared the effects of 2 per cent minoxidil to Rosemary oil. 2 per cent minoxidil doesn’t do much for
male pattern hair loss anyway, so the results were not very impressive.  Oils do serve a purpose in conditioning hair treatments though. They help add shine and smooth the hair cuticle to lock-in moisture and improve combability.  Scalp massages alone won’t cure hair loss, but it can help relax you, aid in lymphatic drainage, exfoliate and help topicals penetrate.

Are there any products or foods/vitamins you recommend someone using or eating to help with hair regrowth?

To support healthy hair regrowth, if you are experiencing hair thinning we’d recommend our Density Preserving Scalp Drops clinically proven to help slow hair loss with continued daily use within three months.

Telogen effluvium (hair shedding) due to nutritional deficiencies can often be simply treated with changes to your diet, and nutritional supplements such as our specially formulated Density Healthy Hair Complex and Density Amino Acid Booster.

Iron and Ferritin (stored iron) in red meat, dried apricots and dark, leafy greens. Vitamin B12 in animal products and fortified plant-based foods. Protein from oily fish, lean meat, cottage cheese, tofu, nuts, chickpeas, and beans.

However, there may be an underlying cause for their hair loss and rather than this being masked by using an off-the-shelf product, they should be encouraged to seek the advice of a specialist such as a Trichologist.

Other people in the comments took aim at Chloe for even allowing Mila anywhere near some scissors.

“My point would be how she got scissors to be alone,” one wrote.

To which someone else replied; “Either you aren’t a parent… Or you’re in denial about things self professed perfect humans believe children shouldn’t do just to belittle parents.

“One of my kids shaved her eyebrow once.

“Yes I felt guilty she got hold of my razor… But I’m glad I’m not judgemental like you!”

“Came here for the comments blaming you for not watching her or allowing her access to scissors,” another responded.

“It’ll grow before you know it! And it’s a rite of passage like a Sudocremed child!”

However, there were some who used the comments section to admit they’d found themselves in similar situations with their kids when they were little.

“I did this to my hair when I was about 7… I wore a headband for months til it grew out again!” one wrote.

“Bless her, we’ve all experienced that,” another laughed.

“Luckily she can have a side parting with a pretty hairslide to keep it in place.”

“My daughter cut the entire right side of her hair off,” a third admitted.

“I was hysterically crying.

“She’s 19 now and it grew back lovely – the joy of kids!”
