A SAVVY mum saved herself hundreds of pounds after creating a bespoke Minecraft bedroom for her son.
Elizabeth Doherty wanted to give her son’s bedroom a revamp while keeping the costs down.
The mum’s son is obsessed with Minecraft and she wanted to give him a bedroom he’d love.
But instead of splashing out on a wall mural, like the Wallart one above that costs £247, she decided to give it a go herself.
Using some leftover paint she had at home and a pencil she created a Minecraft masterpiece and shared it on social media.
“My wee boy wanted a Minecraft room and I couldn’t find <inecraft wallpaper so I tried to paint a wall,” she wrote.
She first painted half of the wall blue to represent the sky, adding some white squares to look like the clouds in Minecraft.
Once done, she stencilled the Minecraft logo on to the middle of the wall and used grey and black paint to create a shadow effect.
For the bottom of the wall, she used a mix of green and brown paints to recreate the cubes of earth and grass found in the game.
But instead of forking out for ten different paints, she decided to use tester pots to save cash.
She added: “For anyone wanting to have a go themselves, I used Johnstone paint tester pots from B&M for the bottom as it was cheaper than buying whole tins.
“And I used old paint I already had for the top (it is DIY on a budget after all).”
For a final finishing touch she bought her son some Minecraft bedding.
The clip has since gone viral after it was shared on the Facebook group DIY on a Budget.
People were quick to praise the mum for her DIY skills.
One person wrote: “I thought this was a wall mural wallpaper at first you did a fabulous job.”

HOLLY Valance has vowed to take estranged billionaire husband Nick Candy “for every penny” after their recent split, we can reveal.
The Aussie pop star, 42, has told friends she feels like the “injured party” in the break up from the 52-year-old because it was “not on her terms”.
It comes a week after The Sun revealed ex-Neighbours star Holly and Brit property magnate and Reform UK treasurer Nick had ended their 14-year marriage.
A source said: “Holly is incredibly upset. Her main concern is, and always will be, for their two daughters.
“But when it comes to the divorce, she’s made it clear she wants what she’s owed and will take Nick for every penny. She insists that she is the injured party in this.”
It is understood the pair signed a pre-nuptial agreement before they tied in the knot in 2012 in a lavish £3million wedding.
The source added: “It’s been a very painful time for Holly and she has told friends that the split was not on her terms.
“Given the circumstances it feels as if there could be some room to manoeuvre.
“Whatever the sum ends up being, it will be in the tens of millions of pounds.”
Holly, whose 2002 debut album produced three Top Ten hits, was seen for the first time since the news of the split earlier this week.
She was not wearing her engagement or wedding ring as she got off a flight landing at London’s Heathrow.
In a statement, a spokesman for her and Nick confirmed they were divorcing, adding “This is a private matter. We won’t be making any further comment.”
The pair were last photographed together in March going for lunch in London.
They first met in 2009 and Nick proposed two years later in the Maldives.
They married in California in front of 300 guests, including Simon Cowell.
Holly found fame on Australian TV soap Neighbours as Felicity Scully before launching her pop career.
Nick started his property business with brother Christian in the early Nineties while working in advertising.
They now have a vast portfolio, including One Hyde Park, an 86-apartment building in central London worth just over £1billion.
Last year, Nick announced he had given up his Tory Party membership in favour of Reform.
He was appointed treasurer in December and pledged to raise tens of millions for Farage, including pledging a seven figure sum.

Skunk Anansie star Skin has revealed how a man posing as room service tried to mug her in her hotel room.
The British singer and musician, whose real name is Deborah Anne Dyer, is currently on tour across Europe.
She revealed details of the incident on Facebook, saying : “Somebody tried to mug me in my room. They woke me up at 6am after an 18 hour tour bus journey. I was tired and they said it was room service.
“The Brixton thing in me said ‘Ding ding’.
“There were no tray and I thought something was wrong. I cussed the guy and he said he would come back.
“It was just about 6am. They found the guy from my description. I did a Karen and said ‘I want to speak to the manager’.
“The hotel said they had to let him go as our stories did not match up.
“They said he was looking for his girlfriend but it was dodgy.
“In the end the manager tells me there is no case.”
The star explained that things could have been a lot worse had she not been alert.
“You know sometimes in your life when you have steam blowing,” Skin said.
“I had to take myself away from this man and the situation. We made the hotel look at the cameras to get a picture of this man.
“He was leaning up against my door. He could have pushed the door in with a knife or he could have had Chloroform.
“Who knows what would have happened. But I am a fighter and that is going to get me in trouble.”
Following the scary ordeal, the singer said they are now forced to be more vigilant when staying at hotels.
The musician continued: “Now I will have to get one of those little lock things to put in the door. If you are in a band you will need to get one. It can happen to you.
“Don’t wait for something awful to happen.
“Put better security and cameras into your hotels and key cards so you can use the lift.
“I am still vexed even telling the story. Never open your door at weird times useless you know who is there.”
Skin claimed the hotel is continuing to “review their security systems” to increase the hotel guests protection.
The hitmaker added: “I’m not trying to get anyone fired, my life mantra is that prevention is better than a cure. Hotels can do a lot to make their clients safe.
“The reaction should not be to automatically pit my word against someone clearly being dodgy because you didn’t catch him camera doing it. But thanks to Pullman Hotels for listening and doing something about it, that is much appreciated.”

WHAT an anti-climax this is for Jack Draper and the rest of the British sporting summer.
The homegrown hope came here as the fourth seed, having had the season of his life, but he has disappeared from view after just seven sets of tennis.
Marin Cilic, at 36, turned back the years and outsmarted and out-aced Draper in a ruthless, clean-hitting display on No.1 Court.
All the hope and expectations that Draper might mount a serious title challenge – perhaps even become the third British male champion in more than 100 years – were unravelled by the Croatian veteran.
Cilic fired down 16 aces in a 6-4 6-3 1-6 6-4 victory on day four of the Championships.
For the second year running, Draper was undone in the second round in disappointing, deflating fashion.
It happened 12 months ago to compatriot Cameron Norrie but this was different because of the significant improvements made in his game and his lofty status in the draw.
You might look at the score and think that Draper simply buckled under the pressure of being the home favourite.
Maybe that is the case and only he can say for sure but in truth, Cilic played exceptionally well, even if he did deliver six double faults across the four sets.
What Draper failed to do was move his Eastern European opponent around the court and test out his battle-weary body.
There was little variation and Cilic, who has had knee surgery, should have been manoeuvred more around the grass – instead, it was all too easy for the former US Open champion to dominate.
It was all too flat as well from the Sutton man.
There was little emotion, no screaming, no roaring – he needed to produce something that would get the crowd up on their feet and energised.
When Cilic went two sets ahead, it was a worrying time for Draper supporters as the 23-year-old had never before come back to win from such a deficit.
His cause was helped by winning set four in 31 minutes as youth prevailed over experience and he suddenly found his range.
Cilic is a very difficult person to watch as a neutral because he bounces the ball about 12-16 times before serving.
The 6ft 6in giant received a time violation in game four of the third set – this earned a huge cheer from the fans – and clearly put him off his stride as he was broken by Draper at a key juncture.
Yet even though Draper’s level improved and he thrillingly saved two break points in game eight of set four, any prospect of a momentum shift was soon halted.
Cilic – who turned pro in 2005 when Draper was THREE years old – was relaxed and calmed as he decisively broke his opponent’s serve.
Draper’s frustration boiled over when he argued with the umpire over a Hawk-Eye call but in this era of no line judges, he cannot challenge the decision.
The baffling decision by tournament Jamie Baker to schedule this on Court No.1 rather than Centre Court proved the wrong one.
It is fair to assume loads of debenture ticket holders would have rather watched this than Jannik Sinner demolish Aleksandar Vukic.
It means it will be another year before Draper is exposed again to the premier grass court in the world.
Only twice out of seven matches has he competed on Centre Court and there were plenty of compelling reasons why he deserved to be there this evening.
As Draper packed up his bags and left the arena, Cilic celebrated one of his best wins in years but his kids did not seem all that bothered by the result.
They continued to focus on their colouring books as daddy moved into the third round of Wimbledon for the ninth time and secured a date with Spaniard Jaume Munar on Saturday.
BOXER Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has been arrested by ICE agents.
After fighting Jake Paul last weekend, the former champion was arrested for a warrant in Mexico.
Chavez allegedly had connections to the cartels.
He is currently being processed and being taken into custody in the Los Angeles area.
“The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) today announced Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained prominent Mexican boxer and criminal illegal alien Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., and is processing him for expedited removal from the United States,” the agency said.
“Chavez is a Mexican citizen who has an active arrest warrant in Mexico for his involvement in organized crime and trafficking firearms, ammunition, and explosives.”

MICHAEL Madsen was seen looking disheveled as he attended a theater expo in the last photo taken of him before his death.
The prolific actor was snapped smiling in cowboy gear just a few weeks before he was found unresponsive in his Malibu home.
The Kill Bill star attended the Chiller Theater Expo in New Jersey back in April to greet fans.
The actor who played Budd in the movie sat and greeted fans of his, signing cards and other memorabilia.
“Had a very nice time last night at chiller,” one fan wrote on the Chiller Expo Facebook page.
“Highlight was meeting Michael Madsen…Very happy with the cards I got signed.”
Attached to the post is a photo of Madsen with the fan, along with pictures of the cards he signed.
Under the post, fans were commenting on Madsen’s noticeably unkempt appearance.
“I saw he didn’t look good,” one fan commented.
Madsen, 67, was found by police officers in his Malibu home Thursday morning after deputies responded to a 911 call.
The poet and frequent Tarantino star is believed to have died from natural causes, KNBC reported.
“In the last two years Michael Madsen has been doing some incredible work with independent film including upcoming feature films Resurrection Road, Concessions, and Cookbook for Southern Housewives, and was really looking forward to this next chapter in his life,” managers Susan Ferris and Ron Smith, and publicist Liz Rodriguez told KNBC.
“Michael Madsen was one of Hollywood’s most iconic actors, who will be missed by many.”

KATIE Price has shared a pointed message just hours after branding ex husband Peter Andre “pathetic” and claiming he “banned her” from daughter Princess’ 18th birthday party.
The 46-year-old hit out on the latest episode of her podcast The Katie Price Show, which she hosts with sister Sophie, 35.
Katie, who shares Princess and son Junior, 20, with first husband Peter, 52, later took to Instagram to make her feelings on the matter very clear.
She posted a message that read: “I love my daughter.” The former glamour model then followed with another with the words: “My daughter will always be my little princess.”
Katie didn’t hold back as she discussed being left off of the guest list for a party to celebrate Princess hitting the milestone – which will feature in the rising star’s upcoming reality show.
She said: “Princess is now officially an adult, so Mummy and Princess can now go out together, if certain people would let her be seen with me.”
She went on: “Everyone knows she’s doing this documentary – and I’m not in it. Certain people don’t think it’s good for Princess to be seen with me. Certain people that used to look after me.”
Sophie chipped in: “You aren’t on brand Katie. You are too risky Katie that’s why.”
Katie then said: “It’s pathetic. I’m her mother.
“I’m just saying, Princess was like ‘I’m having a party’. And I wasn’t invited because it was for ‘filming.'”
Sophie added: “Oh of course it was! I wonder what restaurant did that for free.”
Continuing the rant, Katie said: “The fact is there’s stuff my daughter is doing and I’m not allowed to be seen at any of it.
“Certain people who are filming Princess’ documentary used to do my filming. It’s fine, it’s just there’s always conflict of interest. People will cotton on to this. So we do have to do something for Princess’ 18th.”
It comes after Katie suffered a mortifying blunder when she posted a birthday tribute to Princess two days before her big day.
She was forced to swiftly delete the post, before uploading another on the correct date.
