‘I think he’ll return’ – Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury fight update as Saudi boxing chief reveals chat with Gypsy King

TYSON FURY has been backed to come out of retirement to fight Anthony Joshua.

The two British brawlers have a long-standing rivalry and fans have been desperate to see them go toe-to-toe in the ring.

Fury is currently on his fifth retirement from boxing[/caption]

However, a ‘Battle of Britain’ has always evaded the ring and appeared to be a hopeless case.

This was after Fury retired from boxing, for the FOURTH time, following his second defeat to Oleksandr Uysk.

In January, Team Joshua were exploring his next options and were confident Fury could be coaxed out of his latest “retirement”.

There has now been another twist as Turki Alalshikh has insisted he is keen to see the in-demand fan.

The Saudi boxing chief has spoken to the Gypsy King and is not convinced that he has fully turned his back on the ring.

He told The Stomping Ground: “I want Joshua vs Tyson.

“I spoke with Fury but not about boxing. I just checked about his health and his family.

“I think he maybe will return. I hope so.”

CASINO SPECIAL – BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS

AJ, 35, has reacted to the fight being proposed yet again as he calculated the potential financial windfall.

While appearing in a video from the same outlet, he worked out that in pay-per-view purchases, a potential £60MILLION could be banked.

He then added in potential gate receipts for the fight, which raised the figure to £90m and then to £110m with sponsorship.

AJ then claimed that Fury can have “30 out of that, and I’ll take the rest”.

When asked if the fight could ever happen, he said: “I’ll be honest, I don’t want to talk about that.

“It has been going on for a long time.

“So that’ll be a great fight.”

He appeared to be getting tips from Uysk on how to beat Fury while ringside at Beterbiev vs Bivol 2.

Tyson’s promoter, Frank Warren, has insisted that his client is “happily retired”.

Horror moment ice hockey commentator gets hit by puck and microphone catches ‘one of the hardest F-bombs ever’

AN NHL announcer turned the air blue after taking a puck to the face – during a live broadcast.

Buffalo broadcaster Rob Ray was struck during the Sabres’ 8-2 win over the New York Rangers on Saturday.

Broadcaster Rob Ray was struck in the face during the Sabres’ win over the Rangers[/caption]

The Sabres turned on the style, scoring five goals in the first period at KeyBank Center.

But it was an incident involving Ray – with Buffalo leading 4-0 – that really got social media talking.

A former NHL player, Ray is no stranger to taking tough hits having spent most of his career with the Sabres.

However, he wasn’t ready for the puck to leave the ice as New York battled to get back into the contest.

Rangers defensemen Will Borgen hit the puck over the boards and straight into the broadcast booth.

“Aaaah! F**k!” came the anguished cry from Ray after being hit in the face.

The impact opened a gash above Ray’s eye and nose while breaking his glasses, per WIVB.

He also later reveled a “golf-ball” size lump on his forehead.

“I got a couple little stitches,” Ray told play-by-play partner Dan Dunleavy.

“Right where the golf ball is right here – that’s not normal.”

During his playing days, Ray was renowned for his fighting spirit on the ice.

He is the Sabres’ all-time leader in penalty minutes and has racked up the sixth-most in NHL history.

It’s not the first time Ray has proved a magnet for pucks in the broadcast booth.

Last season he was struck in a similar incident and continued to broadcast despite a bloodied face.

“No surprise, the guy is tough,” wrote one fan on X.

“Rayzor is a legend,” said another.

“Solid skull, not even a dent. Glad he’s alright,” laughed a third.

“Easiest live broadcast F-bomb pass ever,” added a fourth.

Impaled by a rake, electrocuted by a hairdryer, tumbling into a bin & murder by car boot… soap’s most ridiculous deaths

BEING killed off is a hazard of appearing on a soap, and the best you can hope for is a memorable exit.

Corrie fans were left baffled and bemused after Monday’s episode, with Rob’s life on the line when he bounced off a wall and somersaulted over a balcony after his sister Carla pushed him down some stairs.

Though we have since found out Rob survived the fall, fans took to social media straight away in disbelief: “It’s like a Harry Hilly TV burp sketch,” one person wrote, while others called it a “farce”.

EastEnders has been rocked this week by an explosion at the Queen Vic, leaving fans fearing who might have died.

And Emmerdale is showing a limo crash storyline that has left at least one person dead and more characters lives hanging in the balance.

While they are both plausible ways for someone to be killed off, not every soap death is.

From being killed by garden tools to landing in a bin, The Sun looks at soap land’s strangest deaths over the years.

Car Boot killing

Families are known for having secrets, and Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack) spent time hiding that she killed sister Roxy’s ex-boyfriend Carl White (Daniel Coonan).

EastEnders’ bosses decided against a classic murder with a knife or a gun.

Instead, they had Ronnie slam Carl’s head with a car boot which, somehow, killed him.

The killer blow came after Carl attacked Ronnie on New Year’s Eve.

She then put his body into the car boot before taking it to be crushed.

It’s certainly a memorable way to go.

Fancy dress faux pas

Hollyoaks has been lauded for dealing with serious issues like eating disorders and abusive relationships.

But when it came to their serial killer storyline in 2011 with Silas Blissett (Jeff Rawle) things took a turn for the absurd.

During his killing spree, he accidentally strangled his daughter Heidi Costello (Kim Tiddy) to death while she was dressed as cat woman after mistaking her for Lynsey Nolan (Karen Hassan).

Silas grabbed Heidi as she was walking in the skintight catsuit, high heels and mask to The Loft club.

She took her final breath just under the balcony to the venue as friends were unaware of what was happening just below them.

In another ridiculous death, EastEnders’ bosses decided to kill off Trina Johnson (Sharon Duncan Brewster) using a gardening tool.

During an argument with ex-husband Lucas Johnson (Don Gilet), he shoves her off him when she tried to kiss him – behind the back of his current partner Denise Fox (Diane Parish).

The shove saw her forced onto the prongs of a rake, which punctured her throat, and she collapsed to the floor before dying.

To cover up his murder, Lucas used her drug addiction and set it up to look like an overdose.

Unbelievably, it worked and police later ruled her death as accidental due to her use of recreational drugs.

The most you can hope for on Coronation Street is a dignified death if you’re chosen to be killed off.

But Leo Thompkins (Joe Frost) got one of the most undignified murders possible, as it saw him land directly into a large bin.

The civil engineer placed himself in Stephen Reid’s sites after realising he was telling lies and planning to steal a large sum of cash from Audrey (Sue Nicholls).

During a heated argument outside Underworld, Stephen (Todd Boyce) whacked Leo in the head causing the civil engineer to plummet to his death and land in an industrial waste bin.

To add to the indignity of being bumped off, Leo’s body was then hauled out of the trash and moved to another location while Stephen attempted to cover up his crime.

What’s the best way to take out resentment on your nearest and dearest? According to Chris Tate (Peter Amory) it’s to commit suicide and then frame them for it.

In one of the strangest plots in the dale, partially paralysed Chris decided to get back at his cheating wife Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) by framing her for murder.

First, he spent all of his money to make sure the scheming spouse would be left with nothing.

Then, he invited his estranged wife over, having poisoned his glass of champagne. In an odd exchange, he toasts to the death of their marriage before collapsing and dying in the same spot as his dad six years earlier.

His final words to Charity were “whore”. Charity is arrested and eventually sent down for his murder – although in an even more bizarre twist she gives birth to Chris’s baby in jail and is then released in return for handing the newborn to his younger sister Zoe (Leah Bracknell).

Chris will likely have turned in his grave after seeing Charity get off the charges.

Before Ken (William Roache) and Deirdre Barlow (Anne Kirkbride), there was Ken and Valerie Barlow (Anne Reid) who were happily married.

In 1971, the couple were planning to relocate to Jamaica with their children, Peter and Susan, but tragedy struck.

After attempting to fix her hairdryer’s dodgy plug by tightening it with a screwdriver, she plugged it in and was electrocuted.

As she fell to the floor, she knocked over an electric heater into a packing crate causing a fire – which was a full blaze by the time help arrived.

Thankfully, she was the only family member killed in the blaze, but after her death Ken sent their children away to live with their grandparents as they couldn’t cope.

While it’s a pretty odd way to die, it did allow one of soaps longest marriages to happen with Deidre and Ken.

EastEnders has produced yet another ridiculous death, this time with the help of an ashtray.

In 1998 villainous Saskia Duncan (Brooke Harman) attempts to kill her ex-boyfriend Steve Owen (Martin Kemp) in a fit of range after stalking him.

While the former couple are fighting, the young club DJ Matthew Rose (Joe Absolom) walks in and is also embroiled in the fight.

During the physical fight in the back of a nightclub, Saskia attempted to strangle her former lover with his own tie.

As Steve chokes, he manages to grab a stone ashtray and then smack Saskia in the temple with the ashtray, killing her instantly.

Steve then forced Matthew to help bury the body in order to cover up the killing.

Incredibly, Steve gets away scot-free as Matthew is found guilty of manslaughter.

Stuck ring

Viewers then saw her lifeless body floating in the pool after drowning

It’s not just British soaps that have a flare for the ridiculous when it comes to character deaths.

US soap Falcon Crest, which ran from 1981 until 1990, managed to make having a large engagement ring look like a bad idea.

After suffering a brain tumour, alcoholism and amnesia, Maggie Gioberti Channing’s final end was drowning in a pool after her massive diamond ring got stuck in a grate.

She became trapped after swimming to the bottom of the pool to collect toys that had been left behind by the children.

Between flashes to other characters, Maggie (Susan Sullivan) is shown struggling to free herself before her body goes limp, and she is shown floating in the water, in the 1989 scene.

Wedding woe

Ronnie drowned after diving into a pool to save her sister while in a wedding dress[/caption]

Yet another bizarre death from EastEnders for sisters Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) in 2017’s New Year’s Day episode.

Fans had tuned in to see Ronnie have her happy ending by marrying Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), but things took a much darker turn.

The sisters separated off from the wedding party to booze and reminisce together, leading them to the pool, where a drunk Roxy decides to take a swim.

After she jumps into the water, she failed to resurface, leading Ronnie to hurl herself into the pool still in her wedding dress to save her younger sister.

The weight of the wedding dress, thanks to the water, caused Ronnie to drown. It was later revealed that Ronnie had suffered a heart attack after jumping into the pool.

Fans were devastated at the sisters leaving, and many hoped the deaths had been faked to allow them to return in the future.

Nicola Sturgeon spotted DJ’ing with Scots Hollywood star as the crowd ‘goes wild for her’

NICOLA Sturgeon let her hair down behind the decks of a DJ booth with two showbiz pals.

The former First Minister, 54, partied the night away at Pitlochry Festival Theatre, Perthshire with US Traitors host Alan Cumming, 60, and telly fave Kirsty Wark, 70.

Fist pumping the air, the Nats politician pulled on a pair of headphones as she entertained the masses.

Cumming announced: “Nicola Sturgeon is in the house. Legend.”

The newly single MSP was all smiles in a white top with brown sleeveless jumper just weeks after splitting with hubby and former SNP chief Peter Murrell, 60.

An onlooker said: “She was absolutely loving life, the crowd went wild for her.”

Scores of revellers whipped out their phones to capture the politician’s lively music set.

Pitlochry Festival Theatre was launched in 1951 and is Scotland’s only major, rurally located arts organisation.

Ms Sturgeon said she was left with a “heavy heart” after confirming her shock split from her husband.

The former First Minister sent shockwaves through the political world in January after announcing that her marriage was over.

In a post on her Instagram story, Ms Sturgeon revealed that the pair have secretly been separated “for some time”.

She wrote: “With a heavy heart I am confirming that Peter and I have decided to end our marriage.

“To all intents and purposes we have been separated for some time now and I feel it is time to bring others up to speed with where we are.

“It goes without saying that we still care deeply for each other, and always will. We will be making no further comment.”

The announcement came just 15 months after she made a bold and defiant claim about her marriage amid a police probe.

Both Ms Sturgeon and Mr Murrell were arrested earlier in 2023 as part of Operation Branchform – an investigation into SNP finances.

We’re furious over Wetherspoons opening in our posh town – it’s out of place & will attract ‘wrong type’, blast locals

LOCALS are furious over the Wetherspoons opening in their posh town – they say it’s out of place and will attract the “wrong type”.

Vacant for four years, locals have long pondered what their beloved old cinema in central Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, might become.

Some said a Côte would fit in perfectly in their picturesque town, while others suggested an Ivy or perhaps a bigger M&S.

But after much anticipation, JD Wetherspoon confirmed in April 2024 plans to “develop its site” in “the former Prezzo restaurant on Station Road”.

Locals hearing the news for the first time quaked in their boots.

“I strongly object to pints at 9am,” exclaimed nearby resident Eric.

He added: “I am very traditional and would like to keep the place as it is.”

While local couple Margaret and David Green blurted out: “It’s not a place we would go to.”

One strong opposer of Wetherspoons, Carol Minter, dubbed the restaurant chain “cheap”, “boring” and “old”.

She said: “I left the city for some country living and this is not cool.”

“We don’t want someone [the owner] with that kind of ethos running a local business near our young people.

“I personally wrote to the council, but I got no response. We need something for our youth but not a boring old Wetherspoons with cheap food.”

Her friend Christian Jarcheh added: “It’s such a shame to see these big companies pushing people out. It’s just a nightmare.”

One long-term resident browsing a gift shop across the road had her say.

She said: “Wetherspoons is not in keeping with the area.

“If I had a choice I’d have an Ivy.

“I can’t be annoyed because there’s nothing I can do about it, but it’ll bring the wrong type of people here”, she warned.

“There will be smashed bottles everywhere”, added another local.

For Pat Anderson, 72, the idea it’ll bring in a similar cliental to the old old Revs is a concern.

She said: “When Revs was open there were only ever three old men in there having a pint, so I don’t know what it’s going to bring.

“I think it’s a shame it’ll become a Wetherspoons.”

Pat also shared what she hoped the building would turn into.

She said: “I was hoping it would become a bigger M&S.

“I think this particular town is not suited to Wetherspoons. It doesn’t appeal to me anyway.”

“Must be those £5 curries. Not for me!”

Meanwhile Mark said people who go to Spoons all seem to share the same expression.

He recalled a recent experience: “I went into another Spoons a little while ago and I was struck by how gloomy it was and how people sit there staring vacantly into space.

“It’ll attract a lot of older people who don’t have much else to do.

“Cheap food. That’s their brand.

“I suppose with heating costs it’s good because you can buy one pint of beer and stay there for hours.”

He added: “I think it’s not the right quality for Beaconsfield. I know that sounds snooty.”

Similarly, Carl Holt, 57, pointed out that an affordable place to eat isn’t exactly what the people of Beaconsfield need – so the question of who it’ll benefit remains.

He said: “A Spoons would help those struggling financially because it’s cheap but these sorts of areas don’t really struggle too much because they’re quite wealthy, so I’m not sure whether it’ll bring too much benefit to this area.

“But nimbies will always resist change”, he added.

Walking along Station Road, it’s scattered with art galleries, a Gail’s bakery, a health food shop, a Crew clothing shop and more.

The town has also housed various celebrities over the years.

Enid Blyton wrote many a legendary tale in her home the “Green House” in Beaconsfield, while various celebs including TV presenter James Cordon, writer G.K Chesterton, and singer Beverley Craven have lived in the town.

For, Julia Jones, “Spoons definitely has a connotation”.

She also shared her fear for a loss of individualism to the area.

However, a group of cheerful residents said: “It’s Beaconsfield so there’s bound to be mixed opinions.”

Keith Gillham continued: “There are a lot of people who live behind gates and wouldn’t dream of going to a Wetherspoons but this town is dead. You can’t get a decent pint of beer anywhere.”

Another local addressed the “element of snobbishness” about Spoons.

Jeremy said: “The building is lovely but Wetherspoons has a particular image – of all the chains it’s probably my least favourite.

“So for me it’s not good news but I’d rather something was here than nothing. Suboptimal but better than nothing.”

Marilyn, who moved to the town 17 years ago said: “I’m surprised we’re having a Wetherspoons in Beaconsfield because the food isn’t that good – but I don’t know.

“Something other than Spoons would be better. What I think would be nice is a Lakeland. Or even a Toby. I’d rather have that than a Spoons.

“Something a bit better quality than Wetherspoons would be nice.

“We haven’t got much at all here now. It was so nice when I first came but we have nothing at all now. But now, nearly everything has gone.”

The Mayor of Beaconsfield Jackson Ng previously told the Bucks Free Press he was glad the building had been put on the market and hoped it would turn into a restaurant or cinema.

Following Spoons’ confirmed arrival he said he welcomed the move as long as the developers “take into consideration the history and prominence” of its location.

He said: “We were disappointed when Prezzo closed – my family loved going there and I know there were mixed feelings locally when Wetherspoons turned up as a replacement.

“Personally, I think it would be great if we had a cinema here, but I also just want something to happen with that site. It has a very prominent position in our unique and beautiful town.

“Ultimately, the most important thing is that there are fewer empty shopfronts in Beaconsfield – I’m just hopeful that work will start, and something will happen there soon. I look forward to having a pint when it does!”

SPOONS HAS ITS SAY

Wetherspoons spokesperson Eddie Gershon said the amount of awards the restaurant chain has won proves its quality.

And despite the opposing views, the pub chain is confident its Beaconsfield opening will prove triumphant – much like the Marlow branch.

Mr Gershon said: “Those interviewed in Beaconsfield about the forthcoming Wetherspoon pub are entitled to their views.

“There are around 15,000 residents in the town plus those who visit, so the views are likely to be from a tiny percentage.

“Wetherspoon opened its pub in Marlow, a town close to Beaconsfield, around six months ago, and the pub had the busiest opening day of any Wetherspoon pub in its history.”

He added: “It continues to be extremely popular with locals and those coming in to the town.

“Wetherspoon runs its pubs to an extremely high standard and they are popular with a wide range of customers.

“The pubs have an excellent reputation for their design, as well as food and drink.”

Mr Gershon continued: “Wetherspoon pubs, have amongst other things, won numerous design awards, awards for the quality of their toilets, has more pubs listed in the Campaign for Real Ale Good Beer Guide 2025 than any other pub company and won awards for its children’s food offering.

“We are confident, that as in nearby Marlow, when the pub opens in Beaconsfield, that it will be a great addition to the town.”

Former Bond Girl, 80, stuns onlookers with youthful appearance – 40 years after making 007 history

THIS actress broke the mold for Bond Girls and remains to this day the only one to appear in more than one movie.

And 40 years later, this star is still looking glam, even when walking her dog.

Donning a chic black tracksuit and white baseball cap, Maud Adams, 80, kept a low profile as she headed to a dog park in Los Angeles.

Talking them for a walk around Beverly Hills, the Swedish actress made sure she kept the dogs in check on their leashes, before picking her white cocker spaniel up and putting them in her car.

Shooting to fame in the 70s, Maud is best known for her role in the James Bond films, first playing Miss Andrea Anders in 1974’s Man With The Golden Gun.

Miss Anders was the mistress of Francisco Scaramanga, played by Christopher Lee.

Nearly 10 years later, she would make her comeback to the 007 franchise by appearing in 1983’s Octopussy as the eponymous character, graduating to a leading role, before coming back once again two years later in A View To a Kill.

In all three films, Roger Moore played the suited-and-booted super spy.

Speaking with 007.com in 2014, Maud reflected on her time in the franchise fondly, though admits she would “play the roles differently” now.

“I was just trying to focus on doing my job and hoped for the best as I really didn’t understand just how big Bond was in the beginning,” she told the site.

“It was a bit daunting at first, when I realised what I had gotten involved with and also to get so much personal attention.

“Although I had made three feature length movies prior and you always hope for success, I had never worked on a movie where there was so much expectation, before we’d even shot one frame.

“Also, I never expected “Bond” to become such a long running franchise and that my participation would have such a lasting effect on my professional life.”

Following her history-making turn in the series, Maud went on to appear in Blood Legacy, and guest starred in That 70s Show alongside co-stars Kristina Wayborn and Barbara Carrera.

She has been married to her second husband, judge Charles Rubin, since 1999.
