Kerry GAA icon ‘sets record straight’ over Joe Brolly claim after he’d stirred the pot before Armagh game

MARC Ó Sé has “set the record straight” after Joe Brolly cited a text exchange they’d had in his column prior to Kerry vs Armagh match.

Prior to the Kingdom dispatching the All-Ireland champions with stunning ease, Brolly had written a Sunday Independent piece dismissing their chances on the day.

For good measure he had also branded Kerry’s panel ‘useless altogether’ with the exception of David Clifford

Marc Ó Sé felt the ex-RTE pundit used a little too much creative licence

Meanwhile Darragh Ó Sé had angered Kerry boss Jack O’Connor with his Irish Times column

The drama on the pitch saw Kerry beat the Orchard by 0-32 to 1-21

However, it wasn’t only Brolly’s opinion permeating the whole way through the article as he referenced conversations he’d had with several Kerry greats such as Ó Sé.

The five-time All-Ireland winner has now clarified that the ex-RTE pundit had exaggerated the extent to which he had written off his county’s chances.

Writing in his own column in the Irish News, Ó Sé stated: “I want to set the record straight on a text I had sent Joe Brolly that went into his column.

“Kerry totally dominated at the weekend, particularly at midfield, and I’ll admit that I didn’t see that coming.

“I outlined to Joe that we had several key guys missing, our midfield pairing is completely different, and I gave good reason behind why I thought Kerry weren’t going to win.

“I wasn’t alone in thinking that. He just wrote that I had said ‘Not a hope’. So there’s context required with these things.

“Tomás (his brother) was more confident than me. He had said if David Clifford performs… but little did we realise what Seánie O’Shea was going to do.

“So it says a lot that Clifford could have gotten man-of-the-match just as easily. He recovered so well from a few early wides.”

After the one-sided victory Marc and Tomás’ older brother Darragh was clearly the main naysayer that Kingdom boss Jack O’Connor had in mind when he cited a few Kerry pundits who had “let themselves down” in the build-up.

The 64-year-old vented: “What’s to be gained by slating people? It’s the easiest thing in the world. I’m in the business of building people, not knocking people.

“I’d ask people who are knocking that group and knocking people involved with the group to look in the mirror and say, ‘What have you contributed?’

“It’s very easy to knock people. Go away and coach a team. Go away and coach a development squad. Go away and coach a minor team. That’s how you help Kerry football, not knocking people.”

group-stage defeat to Meath raised major doubts over the All-Ireland aspirations of the Munster champions.

The nine-point loss caused Darragh Ó Sé to claim that “the mood isn’t great” in the county as the former Kerry midfielder tipped Armagh to bring an end to their season.

O’Connor added: “We think we have a lot of good footballers but sometimes we’re being judged on different criteria to other teams.

“For example, Dublin got beaten by Meath in the Leinster Championship and I didn’t see any ex-Dublin players coming out slating the team or slating the management like we had down south in our county.

“There’s a sense of commitment to the team and a sense of loyalty to the team. Unfortunately a few pundits down our way let themselves down in that regard.”

O’Connor admitted parallels could be drawn with the same stage of the campaign 16 years ago that concluded with him leading Kerry to an All-Ireland SFC title for the third time.

His charges will next face Tyrone in a July 12 semi-final with a throw-in time of 5pm.

Noel Gallagher tells pals ‘Oasis is on fire’ as friends tease ‘monumental’ setlist ahead of first reunion gig

NOEL Gallagher tells pals “the band is on fire” as Oasis prepare to kick off their 41-sold out shows across the globe.

Fans have started flocking to Cardiff, with many already queuing outside of the stadium for the first show, which starts at 8:15pm.

A friend close to Noel added: “Both of the brothers are ready and raring to go.

“They have described the set list as monumental and think the band have never sounded better.

“They’ve been waiting almost a year for this first show and they can wait to get out on stage and play for their fans.

“There’s nothing else they can do now. They’re as ready as they can be and the rest is in the lap of the gods.”

Oasis, who clocked up over 70 million record sales worldwide after forming in Manchester in 1991, split in 2009 following a fall out between the brothers.

But those close to Noel, 58, and Liam, 52, said the pair are “good as gold,” adding: “The vibe is good and happy.”

The brothers will be joined on stage by Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Joey Waronker.

Noel and Liam have kept the set list a total secret, with rumours swirling on the internet about what the brothers will play.

Earlier this week, during a soundcheck at the Principality Stadium, fans outside heard F*****g In The Bushes being played – which was traditionally as an instrumental before Liam would come on stage.

Acquiesce, Cigarettes & Alcohol also made the cut, with a stripped back section expected in the middle of the set with songs including Talk Tonight and Half The World Away.

Following huge shows here tonight and tomorrow, Oasis will take a short break before kicking off their run of shows at Heaton Park in Manchester on July 11.

A passerby and police officers rushed to help her near Llandudno town centre in Wales at 3.15pm on March 5 last year.

She hit the dog with a drinks bottle as she struggled with it in front of her daughter, who was three at the time, North Wales Live reported.

Both the mother and son were in pain for eight weeks after, a court heard, and they received “significant” wounds.

Alexander Jones, 27, was sentenced at Caernarfon Crown Court for being the owner of a dog dangerously out of control which caused injury to two people.

He told officers he owned the dog for his own “protection”.

Jones was asked to sign a document allowing the dog to be put down and agreed. The pet has now been destroyed.

The judge branded the attack as “vicious” and handed Jones a 16-month jail sentence suspended for 18 months.

Belgian Malinois dogs are highly energetic and often used by police and in the military.

They are also used in search and rescue, and require an active lifestyle and constant training.

Trump’s Global Tariff Strategy: Implications for Thailand on July 4th, 2025

As fireworks light up the American sky on this July 4th, a different kind of spark is flying across global trade circuits. In a dramatic departure from traditional deal-making, President Donald Trump has launched what could be the most formidable global trade showdown in recent history. Gone are the days of intricate diplomatic negotiations—Trump has opted for a more straightforward approach: one-size-fits-all tariffs. This shift in strategy could significantly impact economies worldwide, with Thailand finding itself in an uneasy spotlight. From today, formal letters will start landing on foreign desks, outlining fixed tariffs ranging from 20% to a staggering 50% on goods being imported into the United States. The rate each country faces hinges upon their existing trade status with the US and their eagerness to secure a deal. Before hopping on a flight to Iowa, Trump fired a rhetorical salvo, “There are 170 countries; how many deals can you…
