Who is Sonay Kartal’s bodybuilder ‘boyfriend’ Luke Ogbourn?

Here we take a look at her life and get to know her bodybuilder ‘boyfriend’ Luke Ogbourn.

Sonay Kartal beat former French Open champ Jelena Ostapenko in round one of Wimbledon 2025.

She then stormed into round three for the second year running after a dominant and devastating victory over Viktoriya Tomova on Court No 3.

Next up, Sonay is taking on French qualifier Diane Parry on Friday, July 4, 2025.

Sonay has £152,000 in her back pocket but if she wins two sets, she will add an extra £68,000 to her bank balance.

The British No.3 said: “Obviously tennis is super expensive.

“When I was growing up, I kind of did quite a lot of tournaments on my own because I couldn’t afford to pay a coach week-in, week-out.

“It helped me develop as a teenager, grow up super fast, made me much more mature. I held myself accountable to a lot of things.

“The LTA helped me massively. It came at exactly the right time. It was when I started to come on the scene and was putting together a few good wins consistently.

“They really helped to give me all the equipment and access to everything I needed to develop as well.

“I’ve shot up the rankings. My game style really rocketed.

“My coaches back in the day, they would charge me I guess the lowest fee and would try to help me out as much as possible.

“I was out quite a lot of years injured as a teenager.

“I didn’t pick up a racquet for a couple years. I was kind of a bit inconsistent as I was going through my teenage years.”

Sonay was born in London, but grew up in Brighton with her family.

She is of Turkish descent and her dad owned a “kebab takeaway” and “sit down restaurant”, serving Turkish food.

Off the court, Sonay has been in a relationship with bodybuilder Luke Ogbourn.

He even brought his beau a bouquet of flowers after she qualified for the first round of Wimbledon in 2024.

Who is Luke Ogbourn?

Luke Ogbourn is a British bodybuilder and strongman.

He is best known for being in a relationship with tennis ace Sonay Kartal.

Luke has been a visible and vocal supporter of Sonay, particularly during her impressive Wimbledon run last year and her first WTA singles title win at the Jasmin Open, also in 2024.

Per his Instagram bio, Luke took home the silver medal at the United Kingdom’s Strongest Man U23 competition in 2024, before going one better and securing gold at Iron Beasts 2024.

His profile regularly featured gym routines, rugby matches and highlights from his strongman competitions — but as of July 4, 2025, it seems to have been removed.

The relationship between Sonay and Luke has been public since at least November 2023, when their first photo together appeared on Ogbourn’s Instagram.

Their relationship drew more attention during Wimbledon 2024 — Luke supported Sonay online and in person, sharing affectionate messages and congratulating her after matches.

Despite both being athletes, Sonay said that they do not train together, telling the Express in 2024 that they “don’t gym together at all”.

She added: “I don’t lift cars and pull cars and things like that.

“Tennis is very specific training whereas he is just lifting as much weight as possibly as physically you can.”

However, it is unclear whether they remain an item — Luke hasn’t been spotted at Wimbledon this year.

All traces of their relationship seem to have totally disappeared from social media.

Strict new rules rolled out across France that could see you fined £116 on the beach this summer

FRANCE has always been a holiday favourite for Brits and continues to be one – but there is a new strict rule to look out for.

And its already been rolled out across the country and could see you fined £116 on the beach this summer.

The new French rules

Smoking cigarettes is banned in all outdoor areas where children might frequent[/caption]

France has banned smoking in all outdoor areas frequented by children from the 1st of July.

This includes parks, beaches, public gardens, bus stops, school entrances, and sports venues.

And if you break the rule – even as a tourist – you will face a fine of 90 euros if you pay within 15 days, going up to 135 euros (around £116) after that.

The new measure is part of President Emmanuel Macron’s pledge to create “the first tobacco-free generation” by 2032.

“France is positioning itself as one of Europe’s most proactive countries in terms of tobacco control,” Raquel Venâncio, senior policy officer at Smoke Free Partnership, a coalition of European tobacco control advocacy groups, told CNN.

“The more time goes by, the more the government wants to take away our basic freedoms,” Elise Levaux, a 25-year-old student in Paris, told CNN.

“If you’re being respectful — not throwing away cigarette butts in a park or beach, not disturbing others — I don’t see the problem.

“Why should smoking suddenly be treated like a crime?”

Another said: “I’ve been smoking since I was 14.

“Most of my friends started just as young. Fine or no fine, we’re going to continue smoking.

“It’s part of the French identity — we fight for what we want. We’re not robots.”

France has almost 23,000 licensed tabacs — tobacco shops that occupy the corners of many urban streets.

CNN approached a dozen of them in Paris seeking their view on the new law, but none wanted to speak.

But in a statement shared with CNN, Minister of Health Catherine Vautrin said that “protecting youth and denormalizing smoking” is an “absolute priority” for the government.

“At 17, you should be building your future, not your addiction, Where there are children, tobacco must disappear.

“Tobacco is poison. It kills, it costs, it pollutes. I refuse to give up the fight. Every day without tobacco is a life gained.

“Our goal is clear: a tobacco-free generation — and we have the means to achieve it.”

The new rule does not ban e-cigarettes

The new rules do not include e-cigarettes

Unlike Belgium and the United Kingdom, which recently prohibited the sale of disposable vapes, France’s new rules do not ban e-cigarettes reports Accuweather.

The new regulations do, however, include a reduction in authorized nicotine levels in vaping products, as well as strict limits on flavours like cotton candy, which critics say are designed to appeal to young people.

“These products serve as gateways to addiction and will be regulated, starting in 2026,” Vautrin said.

Tobacco use remains the leading preventable health risk in the European Union, causing nearly 700,000 premature deaths each year, according to EU figures.

In France alone, it accounts for 75,000 deaths each year — equivalent to 200 deaths per day, according to the country’s health ministry.

Beyond the direct toll on smokers and those around them, tobacco products also pose an environmental hazard.

An estimated 20,000 to 25,000 tons of cigarette butts are discarded across France each year, according to the Ministry of Health.

Oisin Murphy breaks silence after £70,000 drink-drive ban and jets out of Britain for huge £330,000 ride

OISIN MURPHY is jetting out of Britain a day after his £70,000 drink-drive ban and grovelling apology for a late night car crash.

The four-time champion jockey was given the massive fine and 20-month disqualification at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Thursday following his guilty plea.

Oisin Murphy has been fined £70,000 and banned from driving for 20 months but is free to continue riding – and he has a huge ride a day after his guilty plea[/caption]

Murphy drove his Mercedes into a tree in Hermitage, Berkshire, and left a female passenger with ‘serious injuries’ just after midnight on April 27.

The BHA have confirmed the 29-year-old Irishman is free to continue riding.

And he has the chance to get back almost half of his fine in one go thanks to a money-spinning ride in the US on Friday night.

Murphy heads to New York for the leg up on Qatar Racing-owned New Century in the Belmont Derby at Saratoga, where victory in the 10.45pm BST contest is worth £330,000.

Should Murphy oblige on the well-backed 7-4 favourite he can expect roughly ten per cent of the winnings – around £30,000.

He won’t spend long in the US though.

Murphy is right back into the thick of things at Sandown on Saturday for their brilliant Coral-Eclipse card.

He’ll fly overnight from the States and land in time for the ride on Royal Ascot winner Adrestia in the 1.50 at the Surrey track.

That’s the first of seven rides on the day, the highlight being 2,000 Guineas winner Ruling Court in the Eclipse itself.

Murphy released a statement on X on Thursday evening after his guilty plea.

He said: “I would like to sincerely apologise for my actions.

“I know that drink driving is unacceptable and there is no excuse for what I did.

“I have let a lot of people down.

“I particularly want to apologise to my passenger and her family.

“Due to the police investigation, I have so far been able to share only minimal details of my offence with the British Horseracing Authority.

“I will now be fully co-operative with their enquiries.

“It would not be appropriate for me to comment further until that process is concluded.”

In the UK, fans of the show can watch episodes on Channel 5 after Vanessa Feltz takes to the airwaves for her eponymous lunchtime show.

Back in February, it was announced that Lynne McGranger, 72, who plays Irene Roberts in the hit Aussie soap, will be leaving the show.

She made her initial debut on the Australian drama back in January 1993 and is longest-serving female actor on the show.

Now the actress is preparing to say goodbye to the show as she is set to embark on her tragic farewell storyline.

Viewers who have tuned into the soap in recent weeks would have seen the character experience significant lapses in her memory.

This includes one concerning incident where she nearly left baby Archie at home when she forgot her babysitting duties.

Taking support from her friend John Palmer (Shane Withington), she seeks help from Dr Bree Cameron (Juliet Godwin).

When she goes for the medical consultation, she is forced to face the gut-wrenching reason behind her behaviour.

The Bay will have to rally round the beloved resident as she faces her biggest challenge.

This will reportedly build towards an episode which some say will ‘go down in Australian television history.’

At the time of her initial announcement, the 72-year-old explained: “After almost 33 years in my dream role and working everyday with people who I love, respect and whom I now consider family, it’s bittersweet to be closing the chapter on what has been the best and longest gig of my life.

“I am forever grateful to the best production crew in the world and to our genius writers – whose doors are always open – for everything they have done for Irene over the past 33-odd years.

“And I am so proud of the storyline which will see Irene out of the Bay.

“Above all, a massive, heartfelt thank you to the fans for your continued love and support.”

ARYNA Sabalenka will be hoping to crush the British public’s dreams of having another Wimbledon champion on Friday, July 4, 2025.

She faces Emma Raducanu in round three at the All England Club. Here’s everything we know about her boyfriend Georgios Frangulis.

Belarusian tennis ace and world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka’s previous boyfriend, hockey star Konstantin Koltsov, tragically passed away in March 2024.

The two-time Olympian fell from his balcony in what the Miami-Dade Police Department described as “apparent suicide”.

The 42-year-old, who shared three children with his ex-wife Julija Mikhailova, had already split from Sabalenka before his passing.

In a statement on Instagram, Aryna wrote: “Konstantin’s death is an unthinkable tragedy and while we were no longer together, my heart is broken.

“Please respect my privacy and his family’s privacy during this difficult time.”

Four months later she went Instagram official with her current boyfriend Georgios Frangulis.

Who is Georgios Frangulis?

Georgios Frangulis was born in São Paulo on September 9, 1988.

He is best known as the founder and CEO of Oakberry — a global açaí-based superfood brand.

Açaí is the small, round, dark fruit of the açaí palm tree, native to the Amazon rainforest.

The fruit is about the size of a grape, but with a much larger seed that makes up between 60 and 80 per cent of its weight.

Georgios’ family is originally from Thessaloniki, Greece.

Despite growing up in South America, Georgios maintains a strong connection to his Greek roots.

Georgios told the Greek Herald: “I can say we were always a Greek family, in how we see the world, our values, and the way I was raised. I feel 100 per cent Greek.”

He studied law at Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado in São Paulo, but chose not to pursue a legal career, explaining that he always aspired to be an entrepreneur rather than a lawyer.

Georgios said: “I went to law school, but I’m an entrepreneur at heart. I always knew I would build a business and create something that would bring joy and good things to people.”

After graduating in 2014, he moved to the US, living in Miami and Venice Beach, where he began to shape his vision for his superfood company.

In 2016, Georgios launched Oakberry, which has since grown rapidly, boasting over 700 stores in more than 40 countries by 2025.

Oakberry specialises in healthy, fast-food options centred around açaí bowls.

The brand’s global expansion has made Georgios a multimillionaire.

Peter Rufai dead at 61: Former World Cup star who captained his country against England dies after long illness

AFRICAN football has been plunged into mourning after the death of Nigeria World Cup star Peter Rufai.

The keeper, who won 65 Super Eagles caps, helped his country win the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations.

He spent most of his career playing in Europe[/caption]

Rufai played at the World Cup finals in 1994 and 1998 – and captained Nigeria in their 1-0 loss to England at Wembley in 1994.

But he passed away at a Lagos hospital on Thursday, aged 61, following a long illness.

Nicknamed Dodo Mayana, he played for top-flight clubs across Europe.

Spaniards Deportivo La Coruna and Hercules, Portuguese sides Farense and Gil Vicente, Dutch outfit GA Eagles, as well as Belgians Lokeren and Beveren, all signed the Lagos-born ace.

Rufai joined the select club of goalkeepers to have scored an international goal when converting a penalty in normal time against Ethiopia in 1993.

The son of a tribal king, he passed up the chance to succeed to the throne when his father died in 1999.

Rufai had run a goalkeeping academy in Spain after hanging up his boots.

The Nigerian FA announced: “Forever in our hearts, Dodo Mayana.

“We mourn the passing of legendary Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, a giant of Nigerian football and a 1994 AFCON champion.

“Your legacy lives on between the sticks and beyond.  Rest well, Peter Rufai.”

Rufai died on the same day the world of football was mourning Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, who died in a car crash in Spain.

Jota was on his way to catch a ferry back to the UK when the tyre on his Lamborghini blew out and the car hurtled off the road, catching fire.

Mounjaro warning over common prescription mistake that puts thousands of Brits ‘at risk of deadly organ failure’

BRITS using the fat jab Mounjaro could be at risk of deadly organ failure due to a common mistake, an expert has warned.

Branded the ‘King Kong’ of weight loss injections, Mounjaro can now be prescribed by GPs on the NHS.

Alamy
As millions of Brits turn to fat jabs to shed pounds, one nurse has warned those taking Mounjaro – the strongest of the jabs – that a common mistake could lead to deadly complications[/caption]

But while more than three million Brits are thought to be eligible to take tirzepatide – the active drug in Mounjaro – only around 220,000 people are likely to get them prescribed on the NHS by 2028.

With demand soaring for the ‘miracle’ drugs that health chiefs hope will turn the tide on England’s obesity crisis, thousands of Brits have opted to pay for the jabs privately.

Like all medications the weight loss jabs come with the risk of side-effects, ranging from milder symptoms like nausea, diarrhoea and constipation to more severe complications.

Among the most dangerous is the potentially life-threatening condition, pancreatitis, which medics say could be avoided with a simple blood test.

Rachael Joy, nurse and chief clinical officer at SheMed, a private healthcare provider, told the Mail Online: “The safest way for people to use these jabs is through mandatory blood screening.

“These blood tests help identify any underlying health issues that need to be managed before a patient starts the programme, or if the treatment is entirely unsuitable.”

Blood tests can screen for a host of health issues including thyroid problems, uncontrolled pre-diabetes, and high levels of harmful fats called triglycerides in the blood.

These come from foods, including butter, oil and fats, certain levels of these fats are needed for good health but high levels increase the risk of heart disease.

If someone has really high levels of these fats they may be at risk of pancreatitis, Ms Joy warns.

Pancreatitis is an inflammation of the pancreas, a gland located behind the stomach.

There is a relatively high survival rate for pancreatitis but it can trigger organ failure.

In a few cases of severe acute pancreatitis the organ can lose its blood supply and turn necrotic.

This in turn can cause a deadly sepsis infection and cause other organs to fail.

Severe acute pancreatitis can also trigger a systemic inflammatory response which causes other organs, like the lungs and kidneys, to fail.

Officials are now looking into whether jab users affected by pancreatitis have a genetic trait that leaves them at greater risk of side-effects.

Mounjaro tirzepatide injection pen.
Alamy
Mounjaro, dubbed the King Kong of weight loss injections, could trigger pancreatitis. Nurse Rachel Joy has warned without regular blood tests to check for the condition, people could be at risk[/caption]

Ms Joy has said this could be flagged by a simple blood test.

She is urging healthcare professionals, both private and public, to reconsider rolling out the weight loss jabs without strict guidance in place.

SheMed have made blood tests a mandatory part of their programme before prescribing the revolutionary jab.

The UK medicines regulator launched a probe into the safety of the jab last month after hundreds of patients developed pancreatitis, and ten people died.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said it received more than 560 reports of people developing an inflamed pancreas after taking so-called Mounjaro injections since they were launched.

The MHRA is now asking for users who are admitted to hospital with pancreatitis to report the side-effect via it’s Yellow Card scheme.

Healthcare staff can also report the side-effect on a patient’s behalf, which involves providing further information and submitting a saliva sample.

Researchers hope this will enable doctors to use rapid genetic screening tests before prescribing drugs.

It is predicted that adverse drug reactions could cost the NHS more than £2.2 billion a year in hospital stays alone.

Most side effects linked to the Mounjaro are gastrointestinal including nausea, constipation and diarrhoea.

But Ms Joy has warned that the weight loss jab can also cause severe dehydration, especially in people with diabetes.

It can cause headaches and dizziness and if not treated quickly can lead to seizures and kidney failure and even be fatal.

What is pancreatitis?

INFLAMMATION in the stomach area could lead to the discovery of one of several different illnesses, such as pancreatitis.

Many people worldwide experience the symptoms associated with pancreatitis, here’s a look at how to identify the unfortunate health condition.

Acute pancreatitis means severe inflammation of the pancreas, a large gland behind the stomach that helps with digestion.

The most common causes are gallstones and heavy drinking.

Acute pancreatitis means that the information eventually disappears, while chronic pancreatitis is permanent.

About four in 100,000 people suffer from acute pancreatitis each year in Britain.

According to a 2007 study, every year 220,00 people in the US will suffer from acute pancreatitis.

The main symptom of acute pancreatitis is abdominal pain, which builds up over the course of a few hours and can last for several days.

Patients with pancreatitis may find themselves vomiting or generally feeling unwell.

Some report swollen abdomens which are often associated with a high fever.

The condition can become life-threatening if the pancreas swells enough to press on other organs – often the heart, lungs, and kidneys.

To combat the condition of pancreatitis, there are several methods that medical professionals use to treat it.

Antibiotics, intravenous fluids, and pain medication are a few of the approaches experts utilize to fight the condition.

If a gallstone is present, an endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography might be required.

If the condition is chronic, a nasogastric tube may be placed in the stomach.

Marcus Rashford to return to Man Utd training on Monday as club left with major transfer decision on outcast forward

MARCUS RASHFORD will return to Carrington for pre-season training on Monday – and expects to play a full part in their preparations for the new campaign.

The 27-year-old left Manchester United in January and spent five months on loan at Aston Villa after being sidelined by Ruben Amorim.

The Red Devils have a big decision to make over his future[/caption]

United now have a decision to make over whether to cash in on the England forward or try to reintegrate him into the squad.

If they are to move Rashford on again in the next few weeks, then it will require the forward to give his consent.

Bayern Munich and Barcelona are both monitoring his situation and could make a move in the coming weeks.

However, according to sources close to Rashford, he has no issue over returning to his boyhood club next week and will give 100 per cent in training.

Despite the uncertainty over his future, his mind is set on playing a full part in United’s pre-season.

United will have two weeks of fitness work at their training base before heading to Stockholm to face Leeds on July 19.

They then fly to the US for the Premier League Summer Series where they will play against West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton.

Their preparations for the season are completed with a home friendly against Fiorentina on August 9 – before they tackle Arsenal in their Prem opener a week later.

Rashford feels in great shape after working with his personal trainers during a three-week holiday in Marbella this summer.

The Red Devils value Rashford at around £40million while his £315,000 per week wages could also prove to be an issue for some of his suitors.

MAN UTD TRANSFER NEWS LIVE: All the latest deals and rumours from Old Trafford

Barcelona held talks earlier in the summer but are believed to favour a loan move while Bayern are also keeping tabs on him.

Rashford had talked openly about his admiration for Barcelona and playing alongside Lamine Yamal.

And his hopes of a move to the Nou Camp have been boosted after Barca target Nico Williams signed a new contract with Atletico Bilbao.

So far there has been no direct communication between Rashford and United over interest from other clubs.

And the striker has not heard from Amorim – who axed him from the squad in December over his attitude in training .

Rashford will be one of a group of stars who are expected back on Monday with their futures up in the air.

His former England team-mate Jadon Sancho is another one – along with Brazilian winger Antony and full-back Tyrell Malacia.

Therapist had sex with patient in car after he cured her driving phobia

A THERAPIST who had sex with a patient in his car after he cured her driving phobia has won a legal battle to clear his name.

Neale Haddon got into an intense six-month fling with his client after she suggested they meet for a drink just ten days after her final session.

Therapist Neale Haddon outside London's High Court.
Champion News Service
Deputy Judge Rory Dunlop accepted Haddon had not given enough time after the last session before entering the relationship with his former patient[/caption]

The psychotherapist, who has more than 20 years experience in the field, had previously been asked by the woman if he “found her attractive” during one of their meetings.

Haddon was found guilty of “serious misconduct” over the affair with his ex-client by a disciplinary panel.

His name was deleted from the register of therapists by the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

The counsellor challenged the panel’s decision in the High Court.

He also claimed the professional watchdog acted unfairly by imposing a sanction that he deemed to be too harsh.

Haddon told the panel his client had proposed the pair go for coffee in her final counselling session, but he initially declined.

He informed her they would have to wait due to rules surrounding patient-counsellor relationships.

Haddon later judged that she had made a “significant recovery” from her travel and driving phobia.

This included being able to “drive on busy motorways and urban roads with only residual or no anxiety.”

Ten days after her treatment had concluded, she once again invited him for a drink, on this occasion via text.

Haddon accepted and, not long after, the pair entered into a relationship in December 2019.

The couple met on several occasions, romping in his former client’s flat and once in his car, and sent each other explicit messages.

The UKCP’s disciplinary panel ruled Mr Haddon had broken the trust placed in him and had “breached fundamental values of the profession”.

Mr Haddon’s barrister, Simon Butler, argued the decision was “disproportionate”.

Deputy Judge Rory Dunlop accepted Haddon had not given enough time after the last session before entering the relationship with his former patient.

He said: “A sexual relationship commenced on or about 30 or 31 December 2019, and continued until June 2020.

“During which time the parties exchanged explicit communications and images.

“The sexual relationship between the claimant and his former client lasted approximately six months.

“They met several times, normally at her flat and once in his car. On each occasion they engaged in intimate relations

“Any psychotherapist who begins a sexual relationship with his patient only 10 days after their therapy has concluded should realise that their conduct might lead to termination.

“In this case, not enough time had passed. Ten days was plainly not enough to ensure ‘proper closure’.”

But the judge ultimately ruled against the UKCP, finding that the panel had ‘taken against’ Mr Haddon.

He added: “My overall assessment is that the adjudication panel took against the claimant after hearing his oral evidence and failed to balance their adverse impression of him against the available evidence.

“The decision on sanction will be for that new adjudication panel, not me.”

His case will be heard again by a new panel.
