6 new beauty editor approved buys – including Dior’s new lip balm and a £13 hydrating cleanser

Collage of beauty products and a woman.

I’M pretty sure I’ve found the best-value facial in London, and it just so happens to be from one of my favourite beauty brands.

The facial in question? Wildsmith’s Radical Botany Facial, £140 for an hour (or £70 for 30 minutes).

Tucked away in the turrets of London’s Liberty department store, when you walk through the double door’s of the specially designed Wildsmith Treehouse, you’re transported to the countryside, with projections of trees on the walls and a birdsong lullaby to soundtrack the treatment.

Wildsmith’s Radical Botany Facial is the best-value facial in London[/caption]

At face value, the price seems steep, but it is redeemable against purchases of Wildsmith products on the day of yout treatment – so you’re effectively getting it free.

Trust me, you’re going to want to stock up, given how good your skin will feel after the treatment.

Despite it being fully redeemable, they don’t cut corners – the bed is wider than most used for treatments (about the size of a single mattress), so you can completely relax, and it’s heated too, making it ultra-cosy.

The price of Wildsmith’s Radical Botany Facial at Liberty London is fully redeemable against products[/caption]

The facial is far more than just a sales pitch for the products – wellness is the aim.

It starts with a foot massage, before your legs are gently stretched one by one, making my spine instantly feel longer, followed by a massage-heavy facial that dissolved the tension in my brow and jaw, as well as a scalp massage and a hand and arm massage that had me walking on air.

If you’re not yet convinced, a 90-minute version of the same treatment at Wildsmith’s home in luxe hotel Heckfield Place will set you back £300 –  and that isn’t redeemable on products!

Wildsmith’s latest serum was created to hydrate skin without feeling heavy[/caption]

Wildsmith Skin Radiance Light Serum, £85

I discovered the new Wildsmith Skin Radiance Light Serum, £85, while I was there and have used it every day since.

It feels like silk on the skin, and is packed with my favourite ingredient, niacinamide, which helps to reduce inflammation, redness and uneven skin texture, while balancing oil production and reducing breakouts.

It also contains brightening antioxidants, hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 to hydrate skin and boost radiance.

Made specifically for humid climates, it’s not heavy or greasy, which is perfect for oily skin like mine.

I’m a huge fan of high-low beauty – pairing expensive products with affordable ones to get the best routine for my money.

The Inkey List Hydrating Cream-to-Milk Cleanser bottle.
The Inkey List
Inkey’s new one-step cleanser removes every scrap of make-up[/caption]

The Inkey List Hydrating Cream-To-Milk Cleanser, £13

As serums tend to have the highest potency of active ingredients, I generally spend most of my budget on them, so I’ve been pairing the Wildsmith one with The Inkey List Hydrating Cream-To-Milk Cleanser, £13, which also launched last month.

As the name suggests, it starts as a lightweight cream, which feels soothing and hydrating yet melts away every trace of make-up, before transforming into  a milk-like consistency on contact with water, so there’s no residue left behind.

It’s hard to find a cleanser that gets rid of everything in one step without turning into an oil or balm, but this does it all.

Best new hair launches

I have a similar attitude when it comes to haircare, preferring to spend money on high-tech tools and products that make a visible difference, such as Living Proof Style Lab Flex Hairspray, £27, which has changed the game for me.

Living Proof Style Lab Flex Hairspray, £27

My hair doesn’t really hold a curl, but this clever hairspray contains heat protection, so can be applied to wet hair before styling –  and voilà, my curls now stay put for days!

Claw clips are a must-have in summer to keep hair off your neck and face[/caption]

Loxx Triple Flower Clip in Lemon Drop, £18

Similarly, Loxx Triple Flower Clip in Lemon Drop, £18, has been a godsend during the hot weather.

I’ve struggled to find a claw clip that can hold my waist-length hair, but this extra-long, arched design, created by celebrity hairstylist Chad Maxwell, keeps every strand up without tugging at my scalp or leaving a dent in my hair.

Best new make-up launches

Make-up-wise, the last month has been about adding colour to my face, as I’m ghostly pale and exhausted – I can’t decide if the hot-weather induced sleepless nights are to blame, or my inability to refuse an impromptu pub visit in the sunshine!

Charlotte Tilbury Unreal Blush Healthy Glow Stick, £30

I find blush wakes up my complexion better than bronzer (although I’ll turn to that come August), and Charlotte Tilbury Unreal Blush Healthy Glow Stick, £30, has a subtle shimmer that instantly makes me look healthier, without being too glittery or exaggerating the texture on my cheeks.

I love that I can draw it straight on to my face, and blend it out with my fingers – no other tools necessary!

Dior Addict Lip Glow Butter,  £33

Finally, Dior Addict Lip Glow Butter,  £33, made it into my bag on cute factor alone, thanks to its adorable monogram charm.

The formula feels somewhere between a lip balm and a lip butter, and leaves my dry lips hydrated – I’ve had more compliments when wearing the Black Cherry shade than I can count on both hands!

The pair were on their way to Santander to catch a ferry to the UK, with Jota travelling back to Liverpool.

Jota had been working with his physio Miguel Goncalves in his recovery from pneumothorax – a collapsed lung.

Goncalves said Jota and his brother departed at 8:30pm, intending to stop at a hotel in the Burgos area before catching a ferry that would arrive in England today.

The physio shared how Jota was feeling before he left, revealing he was excited and enthusiastic for the upcoming season.

Goncalvea told Portuguese outlet Record: “He made an extraordinary recovery, he was undoubtedly an unparalleled professional.

“He strictly followed what I told him, as you could see in the way he was recovering.

“The base of his right lung had collapsed a little, but with the post-surgery physiotherapy he was practically flawless.

“When I left him yesterday he was no longer in pain and was going to return to Liverpool.

“He was excited, confident in his recovery and enthusiastic about the next season.

“He believed he was going to have a great season.”

Jota’s funeral will be held tomorrow in his home town of Gondomar, near Porto in Portugal. A private ceremony for family and friends, including his grieving wife Rute Cardoso, is taking place today.

Fans of Liverpool and his former club Wolves have laid flowers outside their stadiums, with several Reds stars and manager Arne Slot paying tribute.

It came as former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said he was heartbroken by the death of his “great friend” and posted a photo of the pair hugging on the pitch,

He wrote on social media: “This is a moment where I struggle! There must be a bigger purpose! But I can’t see it!”

‘Perv’ teacher Christina Formella accused of raping boy 50 times claims she’s being targeted because of good looks

A TEACHER accused of raping her 15-year-old student 50 times has moaned she is being targeted because of her good looks.

Christina Formella, 30, claimed she is the victim of misogynistic “sexist scrutiny” and complained about being depicted as a “predator”.

The teacher now faces a total of 55 charges of grooming and having sex with the underage boy[/caption]

A spokesperson for her family told the New York Post: “It’s a spectacle — a public ritual that punishes women not for what they’ve done, but for how they’re perceived.”

They added: “When men face accusations, we discuss evidence and procedure.

“When women face accusations, we attack their character, their choices, and their worth as human beings.

“This isn’t justice — it’s gender-based persecution disguised as accountability.”

Formella, from Illinois, was arrested after the student approached cops alongside his mother to report that she had sexually abused him in a classroom session in December 2023.

After further investigation, she is now accused of grooming him when he was 14 and having sex with him around 50 times after he turned 15 when she was 28.

The majority of the abuse is said to have taken place at Downers Grove South High School, where Formella taught the teen.

Prosecutors say the boy’s mom discovered texts on his phone which revealed the alleged abuse and prompted her to contact the police.

The teacher allegedly told the boy: “I love having sex with you.”

Formella has denied all the charges and insisted from the start that her appearance draws unfair treatment.

During her initial police interview, she pleaded her innocence and claimed she is a “good person” but said “everybody” targets her because of her good looks, according to documents obtained by WGN9.

She also claimed to be the victim of a “blackmail” plot, according to court docs.

The document reads: “She claimed that one day, [the boy] had grabbed her phone unattended, had entered her passcode […] had sent the message to his phone, had then deleted the message from her phone, and had saved it to his phone as blackmail.”

Her support base complained that media and content creators are fixating on specific details and making assumptions about her character.

The statement said: “Instead of discussing facts or law, public discourse fixates on Christina’s appearance, her private life, even her lipstick — as if those details bear on guilt or innocence.

“Christina has been splintered into internet caricatures — ‘predator,’ ‘unfaithful wife,’ ‘hypocrite’.”

They also claimed Formella had been “stalked” by people obsessed with the case, and said she has even been followed into church.

“Christina’s case isn’t being ‘covered’ – she’s being hunted,” the family said.

Police footage shows the educator being pulled over and cuffed by cops in front of her husband.

She was originally charged during her first court appearance with two counts of sexual abuse and one count of sexual assault.

But last month, DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin levelled a further 52 counts at the teacher for a load more alleged sexual encounters with the same student.

She was indicted on another 20 counts of sexual assault, 20 of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, six counts of indecent solicitation of a child and six counts of grooming.

The teacher married her childhood sweetheart, Michael Formella, in September[/caption]

An investigation following the initial report found that Formella allegedly had sex with the boy around 50 times between January 2023 and August of 2024, the court heard.

During that time period, Berlin’s office said, Formella allegedly sent the boy multiple text messages that were “grooming in nature.”

At least 45 of those occasions are believed the have taken place on the school grounds – and some in the marital home Formella shared with her husband.

The abuse is said to have begun in 2023 and run throughout the engagement – only coming to an end when the student called it off in September 2024.

Her husband, Michael Formella, has stuck by his wife’s side and attended court with her.

Thailand Tsunami Prediction Hoax: Manga Misinterpretation Sparks Social Media Frenzy

In a scene straight out of a cryptic comic series, holidaymakers in Southern Thailand found themselves in a tizzy, caught in a frenzied social media storm warning of a massive tsunami on the horizon for July 5. But before an ounce of panic could set off an evacuation stampede or put a freeze on tourism, Thailand’s weather wizards stepped up to dispel the fiction. Labeled as nothing more than a “quake prophecy” from the pages of a manga, the experts laughed off warnings of waves crashing against the provinces of Chumphon and Narathiwat as pure fantasy. The warning, which spread like wildfire through Facebook feeds, tickled the nerves of many until Thailand’s Meteorological Department swooped in, quashing the claims with a firm and clear statement: this was “completely false.” They implored the public to keep calm and rely solely on official channels for updates, turning a cold shoulder to the…

Victoria Beckham shares gushing wedding tribute to Mel B after it’s revealed she won’t attend ceremony

VICTORIA Beckham has shared a gushing tribute to Mel B ahead of her wedding this weekend after it was revealed that she was unable to attend.

51-year-old Victoria won’t be attending the celebrations but has made sure that Mel feels the love by sharing an Instagram tribute post ahead of her big day with Rory McPhee.

Posh Spice took to her Instagram stories to share a stunning snap of her and her bandmate looking all glammed up.

She added the sweet caption: “Sending love to you @officialmelb!

“@rorymcphee is a very lucky man! xx.”

Victoria, as well as fellow bandmate Geri, won’t be at the ceremony which is set to take place tomorrow at St Paul’s Cathedral.

The MailOnline originally told how Victoria would be out of the country and therefore would not be present to watch Mel walk down the aisle.

A source said: “Victoria has long standing plans out of the country and she simply can’t be there.

“She adores Mel, they get on really well despite their paths going in opposite directions. It’s a real shame.

“There is no issue between them, they haven’t fallen out. It’s just one of those things.”

Meanwhile Geri is said to be absent because of her tense relationship with Mel.

The two women had a pretty big falling out when Mel B revealed that she had an intimate relationship with Geri when the band was starting out.

Mel made the confession while she was being interviewed for Piers Morgan’s Life Stories in 2019.

Geri was stunned and upset by Mel’s admission, and even more saddened when Mel allegedly did not issue an apology.

Moment ‘mini-tsunami’ sweeps SIDEWAYS across tourist beach injuring 8 injured as freak wave drags sunbathers over rocks

THIS is the shocking moment a “mini-tsunami” swept sideways across a tourist beach – leaving eight people injured.

Freak waves dragged bathers towards rocks as they took a dip in the sea in the Costa de la Luz in Spain.

A 60,000-ton cargo ship has been blamed for stirring the water and causing the freak waves to rip through the Spanish beach – but sideways.

Footage showed dark-coloured water speeding towards the beach before hitting a large rock in the water and rebounding back onto the sand.

A woman sunbathing on the beach could be overheard yelling: “The rock, the rock,” as she scrambled to escape the wave.

Many people were hurt after they were smashed against rocks to the left.

The bizarre water waves, dubbed “mini-tsunami” by the beachgoers, left sunshades scattered over the sand.

A huge cargo ship – thought to be the one that caused the freak waves – was seen in the background.

One witness said afterwards on social media: “It passed very close to the shore and caused a strong wave that swept several people away.

“People were literally thrown to the ground.”

Another blamed the cargo ship, saying: “It was a huge ship and then it caught the expansive wave like a tsunami, which absorbs the water and then expels it very forcefully.”

One of the bathers hurt had to be hospitalised.

The woman, identified only as 28-year-old Rocio, said from her hospital bed: “I’ve got a broken foot and I’m waiting to be operated on.

“I was coming out of the water with a paddleboard when the wave hit me from the left and knocked me to the ground.

“I couldn’t see anything and got trapped under the board. I only found out what had happened and that a ship was to blame when I got to hospital.”

She told a Spanish TV station: “I’ve got to have an operation on my foot and I’ve got a long period of rehabilitation ahead of me.
“It’s the last thing I wanted at the start of the summer.”

An investigation into the incident has been launched, with local authorities trying to find whether the cargo ship had breached rules and came too close to the beach.

The local harbour master’s office said overnight, a new speed limit in the area for this type of vessel had been set at 11.5 knots to avoid another “mini-tsunami”.

Last year, massive freak waves swept away boats and swamped seaside towns in Peru.

Footage captured the monster swells battering the coast of the South American country on the Pacific Ocean.
