How gangster’s moll blew apart her life of luxury when absurd lie exposed her as mastermind behind ex’s grim murder

GLAM Coleen Campbell painted the perfect picture of a distraught widow after her gangster ex-husband was brutally tortured and killed.

But a harrowing court case heard how she helped orchestrate the brutal attack that led to the drug baron’s death.

Dad-of-two Thomas Campbell, 38, was ambushed by three men on his doorstep on July 2, 2022.

His body was later discovered naked and bound with duct tape in his hallway.

Before his death, Thomas had been dating John Belfield‘s ex Demi-Lee Driver and he was “hostile” about the relationship.

The 31-year-old worked with Thomas’ ex-wife Coleen to arrange the horrendous attack.

The pair masterminded the plot to murder the gangster at his home in Mossley, Greater Manchester, with Campbell passing Belfield information on her ex’s movements.

She even gave him information which she obtained via two children she shared with Thomas, a court heard.

Belfield was found guilty of murder and conspiracy to rob following a trial at Manchester Crown Court.

He has now been jailed for life with a minimum of 37 years.

Campbell, 38, was previously jailed for 13 years after she shared intelligence of Thomas’ whereabouts to Belfield.

It was not the first time she’d displayed violent tenancies.

Days before her the father of her children was killed, Campbell teamed up with three other yobs to attack another victim in the street in Tameside, Greater Manchester.

Killer Campbell was seen striking the victim multiple times with a hammer – causing the defenceless woman to fall to the ground.

And just hours before the brutal attack on her ex, the mum-of-four was captured on CCTV in her pink pyjamas chatting to Belfield for 25 minutes in her garden.

She and Belfield had met up and also exchanged 35 phone calls and 68 messages as she conspired to have her ex-husband robbed.

During this time, Campbell divulged key information about Thomas – including details of his van’s registration plate and his house number.

Campbell helped Belfield plot the brutal ambush because she was furious at her ex for cheating on her before they split.

This is despite being told that Thomas would be robbed and “violence would be necessary”.

‘A PSYCHIC TOLD ME’

The glam ex-wife slipped up and revealed her involvement in his death when she told Thomas’ mum about his injuries.

She was chillingly knowledgeable about the exact nature of what he had suffered.

Campbell then scrambled to cover up her slip with a flimsy excuse by claiming Thomas had described the attack to a clairvoyant from beyond the grave.

She married Thomas in 2011, and the pair enjoyed a very lavish lifestyle funded by the criminal underworld.

Their involvement in Manchester’s coke trade was exposed when cops began investigating them in 2014.

Police were suspicious about their flashy lifestyle as their only legal source of income were benefits and Ms Campbell’s part-time job at Matalan.

A FLASHY LIFE FUNDED BY DIRTY MONEY

Cops seized a Mercedes C63 – which cost £100,935 to £106,935 – and a BMW X5 – of which the prices start from £99,060.00.

The couple’s home was also found to have a double-storey extension funded by their shady activities.

The Campbells pleaded guilty to money laundering at Manchester Crown Court in 2019.

Fast forward to 2022, when Thomas’ body was found naked and bound at his home.

As he was a known drug baron, cops didn’t suspect his ex wife – who put on a convincing show.

She posted a slew of social media posts about her grief following the loss of her childrens’ dad.

A ‘GRIEVING WIDOW’

An emotional tribute on Facebook read: “13 years and two beautiful children. Forever grateful.

“I would do anything to hear your giddy laugh just one more time.”

But all along, she had been passing intel to Belfield in the plot that led to Thomas suffering 61 separate injuries at his £350,000 townhouse.

Footage released by police showed a tracking device being placed on Thomas’ car as he dropped his daughter off at school.

Belfield, Reece Steven, 29, and Stephen Cleworth, 38, used this to conduct reconnaissance missions to the dad’s home.

The court heard Belfield was “obsessed” with his ex Demi-Lee, who was now dating Thomas, and had messaged her before the killing, warning: “You’re mine”.

He also text his ex, saying: “You will never have a boyfriend you will have to move country give it a week and you will see why and happens when you take the p***.”

In the lead-up to the brutal murder, Belfield also sent Thomas a message, saying: “I’m going to s**g her [Campbell] for the point of it as well as saying you like her you soft boy.”

The prosecutor said a few days after the messages, Thomas died in the “most terrible way”.

On July 3, 2022, three men “pounced” on the dad as he arrived home late from a night out.

Blood splattered the walls of his smart new-build home as he was bound and brutalised while being tortured for two hours.

THOMAS WAS TORTURED FOR TWO HOURS

A post mortem found injuries to his head and neck suggested a “sustained blunt sharp force physical assault”.

The dad also had burns on his body that were caused by a “hot liquid such as hot water”.

He had been dragged around the house as the attackers took as much money or drugs as they could get their hands on.

Thomas was then left to die in the hallway before being discovered the following day by a neighbour.

Belfield fled to South Africa following the gruesome killing and sent a series of chilling messages.

In one exchange with “right-hand man” Reece Steven, he callously joked the victim must have “bled everywhere”.

Steven, who has been jailed for Thomas’ murder, replied: “Tommy crumble. Dripping in tom juice everywhere.”

Karma is best served cold – and then tables turn real fast. I be the coldest MF you ever met

Coleen Campbell

Belfield, who denied being one of the three attackers who ambushed Thomas at his home, was found guilty of torturing his love rival to death after he plotted the grisly murder with the victim’s ex.

Campbell was jailed last year for 13 years after being convicted of manslaughter but cleared of murder.

Following the split with Thomas, she had chillingly text her friend: “Karma is best served cold – and then tables turn real fast. I be the coldest MF you ever met.”

Steven, 29, was caged for at least 37 years for murder while Stephen Cleworth, 38, was handed a minimum term of 12 years for manslaughter.

Wendy Logan, District Crown Prosecutor for CPS North West, said: “John Belfield was responsible for leading a meticulously planned attack to kill Thomas Campbell.

On June 12 an off duty officer confronted a mob of individuals after seeing them attempt to barge through barriers at a tube station without paying.

A harrowing assault followed with the mob punching and kicking the female copper.

Detectives have since launched an investigation into the violent assault at Wood Green Underground Station.

CCTV footage of four men and two women has been released with cops looking to trace them.

Detectives believe the people pictured could have information that can help their investigation.

In April Transport for London announced new measures to clamp down on fare dodgers.

The British Transport Police said: “At around 4.20pm on Thursday 12 June the victim, an off duty police officer, challenged a group of people who attempted to barge through the barrier without tickets.

“She was then set upon by the group who punched and kicked her and threw a drink over her head.

“Officers would like to speak to the people pictured as they believe they could have information which could help their investigation.”

I went under for routine operation after simple warning sign – but what docs told me when I woke changed my life forever

A YOUNG mum who went into routine surgery to have her appendix removed woke up to a devastating diagnosis that changed her life “forever”.

Susan Collins, 33, thought the simple procedure would put an end to her pain, but was shocked when doctors told her they had made a discovery.

The mum-of-three was left gobsmacked when doctors told her she had stage three bowel cancer – and she started chemotherapy just two weeks later.

Still shocked by the find to this day, Susan told the Irish Sun: “I never had any bowel issues. Absolutely none. No signs, no nothing.”

“Our lives changed forever. I woke up from surgery to devastating news. Things hadn’t gone as planned.

“And not only did I wake up with a temporary stoma but my team also confirmed I have stage three bowel cancer.”

Susan, from Kildare, had experienced sharp pain in her side on occasion, which doctors eventually diagnosed as appendicitis.

She said: “This pain in the side, it was like a shooting pain, nearly like a cramping.

“Sometimes it would feel like a spasming pain. I would have said it was like a contraction nearly in childbirth.”

And last summer, Susan experienced the same sharp pain at a family celebration and decided to go to the doctors

Susan, mum to 10-year-old Brody, Jamie, seven, and four-year-old Mason, said: “I went over to the GP out of hours and they thought originally it was a colon infection.

“So I was on antibiotics for a few weeks for that and some gut tablets and everything settled down.”

However, the pain returned in October and Susan went to see another GP.

She recalled: “He gave me a laxative in case there was a blockage of my bowel.

“So he was the only one that ever thought it may have been something to do with my bowel.

“We did stool samples, blood tests and he had me booked in for an MRI.

“But things really escalated pain-wise and my dad had to bring me down to A&E.”

Things escalated quickly with Susan getting sicker and undergoing more hospital admissions and tests – but there was still no indication of cancer.

Susan said: “I had a temperature and had infection markers in my blood.

“But I had nothing, no disturbances. I’ve never, still to this day, well obviously I have a stoma now, but up until my surgery, I never had any bowel issues. Absolutely none. No signs, no nothing.”

She continued: “It’s kind of all a blur. I had four or five hospital admissions and they were all to do with my appendix.

“My appendix was inflamed and they said there was what they call an appendicular mass.

“Basically that’s where your body is trying to protect.

“It’s like a fatty tissue protecting the infection in one area so it doesn’t spread. It’s a really common occurrence.”

SHOCK SURGERY DISCOVERY

Susan was given more antibiotics but found herself returning back to the hospital.

She continued: “So December 3 I went in, had keyhole surgery and I woke back up and they said ‘you still have your appendix’.”

Doctors told Susan her appendix had merged onto her bowel and she would need further surgery.

Scheduled to meet a new surgeon in February, Susan found herself with a temperature and in “absolute agony” just days before her appointment.

She admitted herself to hospital again while experiencing pain like never before.

The Newbridge native said: “I actually said to him, ‘I’m in that much pain now that I think this appendix has ruptured’.

“So in fairness, they were amazing. I was brought straight through. And again, they were saying appendix, appendix.

“I met the colorectal surgeon and he said that they’d have to perform a surgery where they remove parts of my bowel.”

Susan underwent more MRIs, CTs, colonoscopies and “still nothing came up” regarding her bowels.

She now knows that she did at the time have appendicitis, along with the cancer, which caused the infection markers and the temperatures.

She said: “On February 13, I went for surgery and it was only when they opened me up that they saw the tumour.

“So it’s on my back wall on that main artery, which is why they couldn’t touch it basically.”

Medics carried out biopsies straight away and gave her a stoma to “protect” the bowel during chemo.

Susan said she was floored to realise she had cancer, recalling: “I woke up from that surgery and thought the worst because I got a stoma.

“I thought ‘this is the end of my world, this is awful’.

“It was only the next morning that I was told, ‘actually, you have cancer’.

“I was told that by myself, lying in a hospital bed 12 hours after surgery.”

After the shock diagnosis, doctors arranged for her to start chemo two weeks later which was “really rough” for Susan and her family – husband Daryl and their three young boys.

TREATMENT PLAN

Susan admitted: “The first round was really rough because they don’t know how your body’s going to react.

“So I was very sick that first weekend. But after that, I haven’t been sick because I’m on really good anti sickness [medication] now.

“For the kids, it’s like the first week was really rough for them because obviously I was very sick. I was in bed.

“But after that, they are flying it because I’m flying it.”

Now into week seven of chemo, Susan has noticed her body is “getting weaker” but that her team are “extremely positive” about her progress.

She said: “I’ve lost an extreme amount of weight. And they’ve added on two extra cycles of chemo while we’re waiting for surgery and MRIs and everything.

“It is working, it has shrunk and they’re still extremely positive.”

The stay-at-home mum, who was made redundant during the pandemic, told how the cost of travelling to chemo and hospital appointments adds up for everyone going through cancer treatment.

Susan said: “Unfortunately we are a one-income family at the minute.

“I literally get the minimum on illness benefits because my husband has a good job, but it still doesn’t cut it.”

Undergoing another MRI in two weeks, doctors plan to remove what’s left of the tumour along with her appendix.

Susan, who is documenting her journey on her Susans_Next_Chapter TikTok, is urging everyone to listen to their body.

She said: “I would have been heavily medicated when I’d be in hospital.

“But once the infection markers would go down, my pain would go away and this would all settle.

“So I’d have weeks in between. No signs of my bowel. No signs of my appendix. It’s very rare indicators.”

SYMPTOMS TO WATCH

Not everyone will get every symptom, or get symptoms in any particular order:

  • Changes in your poo for no reason that last longer than three weeks, such as having constipation, diarrhoea or both
  • The feeling of not emptying your bowel completely after a bowel movement
  • Needing to poo more or less often than usual
  • Blood in your poo, which may look red or black
  • Bleeding from your bottom
  • Tummy pain
  • Feeling a lump anywhere in your tummy
  • Bloating
  • Losing weight for no reason
  • Feeling very tired for no reason
  • Breathlessness.

These symptoms can be caused by conditions other than cancer, but it’s important to listen to your body and get any changes checked.

She added: “Bowel cancer was known as an old man’s disease.

“Now it’s any gender and at any age. And it’s scary because there’s no there’s no way to prevent it because they don’t know why it’s happening.”

Now on a mission to help others and create awareness, Susan discussed the importance for anyone with a diagnosis to ask for help.

IMPORTANT ADVICE

She said: “I have a young onset team and they are just amazing.

“Everyone gets a speciality nurse with oncology and they are on the other end of the phone all of the time.

“I would say reach out to them because my first round  of chemo I thought ‘I meant to be this sick. I’m fine’. And I shouldn’t have been.

“So if you’re feeling unwell, reach out to them and lean on friends and family.

“I am a mother who does it all. To my own detriment, I don’t like asking for help. I have all the help around me. But this taught me you have to ask for help.

“Let people do stuff for you, take on that help and lean on people. Which I wouldn’t have been great at doing. I’m still trying.”

With thousands of likes on her inspiring videos, brave Susan hopes to teach others to recognise the signs.

She added: “Watch out for all of the signs, we shouldn’t have abnormalities in our bodies.

“Go to the GP and be seen. I think especially as mothers, we’re more likely to think ‘oh, I’ll go in a few weeks’. But if that was your child, you’d be straight to the GP.”

Brother Kevin Crowley remembered for life-long ‘mission’ to help homeless as Capuchin Day Centre founder laid to rest

BROTHER Kevin Crowley had a “simple mission” to feed and house the poor, his funeral has been told.

Brother Kevin, who died on Wednesday at the age of 90, founded the Capuchin Day Centre in Dublin in 1969 in response to seeing homeless men eating from rubbish bins.

Throughout a 55-year history, he oversaw much of its development in response to the needs of homeless people.

The centre offers two hot meals per day Monday to Saturday, as well as food parcels and a range of services including clothing, showering facilities, and medical interventions.

It provides more than 1,000 hot breakfasts and dinners each day.
Brother Kevin was said to be grateful to be awarded the Freedom of the City of Dublin in 2015 and for the visit of Pope Francis to the centre in August 2018.

He retired in 2022 to Cork, where he was born and died earlier this week.

His funeral took place at St Mary of the Angels on Church Street in Dublin this morning.

President Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina Higgins were among guests in an “overflowing” church, which the service heard was receiving guests from all over the island of Ireland.

Archbishop of Dublin Dermot Farrell and former primate of Ireland Diarmuid Martin attended the mass alongside Capuchin Franciscans and staff at the day centre.

Also present were Commandant Joe Glennon representing Taoiseach Micheal Martin, who is concluding a trade mission in Japan, Lord Mayor of Dublin Ray McAdam, and other public representatives from the city council and Oireachtas.

‘TWO FAMILIES’

Leading the service as provincial minister, Brother Richard Hendrick welcomed Brother Kevin’s “two families” – his natural family as well as the staff, volunteers and guests of the Day Centre.

He said: “You are all welcome here today. While Brother Kevin was the inspiration and face as it were of the work of the centre, without all of you there would be much less reason for our gathering.

“We thank you for all you were to Brother Kevin, for all you are to us Capuchin Friars and for all you do to keep that vision alive of a place of refuge and Franciscan welcome in the heart of the city open to all.”

Brother Richard said they had been “inundated” with stories of the care and love Brother Kevin shared to others, as well as the love shared to him.

He said Brother Kevin vision was that no one would go hungry and that all would fall a place of inclusive welcome and peace.

Brother Richard said the day centre “will continue and grow” as long as there are guests who need its services.

Recalling recent queries from visitors if the centre would stop operating, he added: “I think Kevin would haunt us all if there was even a thought of that.”

‘GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT’

Brother Richard thanked all those who had gathered, as well as all those worked at the day centre.

He said: “Yesterday, we heard that there would be two minutes of silence – one in Dublin and one in Cork before the GAA matches take place.

“It is probably Kevin’s greatest achievement that as a Cork man he has finally silenced Dublin.”

In a homily, Brother Patrick Flynn said Brother Kevin gave a “life’s service” to the poor.

He said the proud west Cork man was a “very, very good Capuchin friar”, a “man of God”, a “disciple of Jesus Christ”, and a “humble, devout son of St Francis of Assisi”.

“He was a Capuchin to his fingerprints. Most people didn’t know his family name of Crowley, but they knew of ‘Brother Kevin’.”

Brother Patrick said Brother Kevin was known the length and breadth of the country as a “tireless advocate for those with no voice”, acting as the nation’s conscience to remind the public of their obligation to help others out of the trap of poverty.

“He was fearless, relentless in his pursuit of justice for the poor. I’ve no doubt that his great spiritual father St Francis is embracing him today for the love and compassion he extended throughout his religious life for God’s poor.”

He added: “Kevin had a mission in life, it was very simple: Feed and house the poor.

“He couldn’t understand why in our country we couldn’t solve this problem.”

‘COMPASSIONATE HEART’

Brother Patrick said Brother Kevin was a man who enjoyed the company of friars and friends, had a love of the GAA marked by a hurley placed beside his coffin during the service, and who had a great sense of humour demonstrated by his ability to laugh at himself.

Remembering his friend for over 60 years, he concluded: “He wasn’t perfect, he could be feisty and challenging when he disagreed with you.

“But what he did have in abundance was a generous, compassionate heart and that is what made the man.

“Kevin, thank you for your good example.”

The service was also read letters containing tributes from the Apostolic Nuncio of Ireland Luis Mariano Montemayor and General Councillor Brother Marek Miszczynski.

Brother Kevin’s burial site is at Dardistown Cemetery.

My nightmare neighbour threw cigarettes over the fence & screamed at my kid, so I took revenge with the help of my pool

A WOMAN has revealed how she would get revenge on her nightmare neighbours.

We all hope to have a good relationship with those who live next door, but sometimes, it’s impossible.

So she took matters into her own hands[/caption]

And unfortunately for Kathryn Oliver, that was the case.

She revealed that everybody on her street got on, apart from her next-door neighbour at the time.

Kathryn said her neighbour was a total nightmare to live with, tossing trash onto people’s properties, making noise and shouting at people.

The mum told people in the comments some of the ridiculous things her neighbour had done.

“She said she was glad my dog died, tried to fight my 12-year-old daughter,” she explained.

The mum also said her neighbour was constantly throwing things over to her garden, like cigarette butts and would blast music as late as 5am.

While the mum was stuck with a nightmare neighbour who made her life a misery, she didn’t go down without a fight.

Instead, she came up with a clever and sneaky way to get revenge.

Like most of us, Kathryn had a swimming pool in the garden for warmer months.

And when it was time to empty it, she would make sure the water ran into her neighbour’s garden to ruin their lawn.

She wrote: “Time to empty the pool into next door’s garden.

“This was last year and we have nice neighbours now.”

The clip has since gone viral on her TikTok account @kathrynoliver89 with over 820k views and 11k likes.

People were quick to share their thoughts on the mum’s revenge scheme.

One person wrote: “It’s good for the grass.”

The Top Five Reasons Neighbours Squabble

One study by Compare the Market revealed the top reason British neighbour's argue

  1. Broken fences – top of the board was broken fences and whose responsibility it was to fix it
  2. Parking: one of the leading drivers of neighbour disputes, with 54.1 per cent of people having issues with people parking in front of their house, parking bay or driveway
  3. Trees – complaints about a neighbour’s tree cracking your garden path was also common with nearly half of participants finding it frustrating
  4. Bin wars – outdoor bin etiquette continues to ignite the most furious debates between neighbours
  5. Nosy Neighbours – some people have their eyes and ears at the ready to have a peek causing problems for others

Another commented: “My garden’s on a slant I hate my neighbour so I put it up next to her fence and just pull all the plugs out.”

Girl. I thank you for this idea. My neighbours don’t stop screaming.”

“This is genius,” penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “What in the fridge and sofa outside the house with no carpets is going on here?”

“I love evil,” claimed a fifth

Someone else added: “So this is how to get rid of horrible neighbours.”

Ireland star Mikey Johnston linked with shock multi-million move to unexpected football giants as fans make same joke

The seven-time Brazilian champions and one of the most supported clubs in the country have apparently made a formal approach to sign the winger.

According to Cook, Johnston said his goodbyes to his Baggies teammates and will fly to Rio de Janeiro to complete the move.

The 26-year-old potentially moving to the three times winners of the Copa Libertadores caught many fans on social media off guard.

One said: “The devil works hard but mikey Johnston’s agent works harder. Hows he f***ing swung this”

A second remarked: “The Republic of Ireland‘s Mikey Johnston leaving #WBA for Flamengo is one of the strangest transfers I’ve seen for a long while.

“How did the Samba scouting system lead them to the Black Country?

A third hailed: “Mikey f***ing Johnston is off to [Brazil] absolutely buzzing for the boy.

“What a turnaround. From the being vilified at Celtic (by some) to the big stage. Fair play to him!”

And a fourth said: “You won’t find more leftfield transfers this summer than Flamengo signing Mikey Johnston.

“Will be (I think) the first Republic of Ireland international ever to play in South America.”

Johnston signed for West Brom for £3 million just last summer from Celtic, and put pen to paper on a four-year contract.

He had spent the previous season on loan at the Championship club, scoring seven goals in 18 league appearances.

In his one, and potentially only, full season with the Baggies, he featured 40 times in the league.

He scored three goals and picked up five assists as they finished ninth, four points shy of the play-off spots.

The former Scotland youth international has won 15 caps for the Republic of Ireland since making his debut in a 3-2 win over Latvia in March 2023.

His last appearance came in the Nations League relegation play-off against Bulgaria back in March.

Johnston started both legs as Heimir Hallgrimsson‘s men preserved their League B status with a 4-2 aggregate victory.

He will be keen to be back in the squad when they kick-off their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign at home to Hungary on September 6.

In his post-match press conference, Norrie was quizzed on Raducanu amid rumours of her growing close to reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz.

A journalist asked the world No61: “Some of the gossip has been about who Emma Raducanu is dating.

“Can I ask if you are dating her? Can we get to the bottom of this please?”

A perplexed Norrie replied: “Sorry?”

The reporter then responded: “I am trying to find out who is dating Emma Raducanu.
