AN Italian car maker has announced the exact date that its iconic hatchback will be available to motorists.
The new hybrid version of the iconic motor will be coming to UK roads this year boasting a new look and at a much lower price point than expected.
Fiat announced that their new Fiat 500 hybrid will be put into production in November this year with a target of 5,00 units by the end of the year.
The fresh take on the classic hatchback will be produced at the firm’s Mirafiori plant in Turin, Italy.
The motor will boast the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder mild-hybrid Firefly engine that powers the old 500 and Fiat Panda.
Almost identical to the 500e the new Fiat 500 hybrid has been given a reworked front grill to feed more air to the petrol engine.
Fiat aims to manufacture over 100,000 units per year of its new hybrid 500 small car.
Parent Stellantis is betting on the model reviving its ailing production in Italy, the brand’s head Olivier Francois said on Friday.
Stellantis was created in 2021 from the merger of Fiat Chrysler and France’s PSA-Peugeot.
Last year the firm manufactured 475,000 vehicles in Italy, from over 751,000 in 2023.
Francois said during a media preview of the car, when some prototypes of it were shown to press, “That’s the 500 for real people, the pragmatic 500.”
The new hybrid 500, to be manufactured from November in the Mirafiori complex in Turin, Italy, along its existing fully electric (EV) version, will cost a surprisingly low 17,000 euros ($20,000), Francois said.
Production of the 500 EV, which costs almost 30,000 euros, amounted to just 25,000 units last year.
The firms Mirafiori plant suffered several stoppages due to low demand and workers put on furloughs.
The Fiat CEO said the brand has plans to introduce an upgraded and more affordable version of the 500 EV in 2027, with a targeted selling price of “20,000 euros or even less”, mainly thanks to batteries that will be made in-house.
Stellantis is also working on the new generation of the 500, expected around 2030, to be produced in Mirafiori.
“We’re designing it now, it will be electric and also hybrid depending on regulation and market response in coming years,” Francois said.
Pre-series models have reportedly already rolled off the production line.
The model will be available in the UK in two configurations: the classic Hatchback and the Cabrio, the only convertible in its segment.
A 12v lithium battery will boost the little hybrid’s performance and enhance fuel efficiency.
A modern interior will offer a digital display complete with a customisable 10.25 inch touchscreen.
Full wireless compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allows for safe smartphone integration.
Stellantis is the company behind iconic motor brands such as Fiat, Vauxhall and Peugot.
The conglomerate, which is the second-largest maker of cars in Europe, owns 14 badges, including Chrysler, Citroen, Jeep and Maserati.
The company itself is the product of a merger between Fiat-Chrysler and France’s PSA, the maker of Peugeot and Citroen, in 2021.
But the motoring giant has encountered increasingly stuttering financial success.
And an initial manufacturing break at Stellantis has now been extended as bosses report a collapse in demand for electric cars.
ANDY FARRELL has given an update regarding his son Owen’s involvement on the 2025 Tour.
The former England captain, 33, replaced Elliot Daly, who broke his arm in Wednesday’s 52-12 win over the Reds in Brisbane.

The Lions head coach says jet-lag precautions will be in place before admitting it’s unlikely his son will be available for selection for the Lions’ mid-week clash against ACT Brumbies.
The playmaker only arrived in Australia on Friday evening and is still adjusting to the travel.
Andy said: “He slept last night so hopefully the jet lag is not too bad,”
“Probably not [be in the squad against the Brumbies]. I don’t know, with jet lag etc…you’ve got to go through protocols.
“That normally takes a few more days than that I would have thought.”
Despite the lack of fluency in their win over the Waratahs, Farrell was somewhat content that the result in Sydney.
Looking ahead to the Lions clash against the Brumbies in Canberra, the coach welcomed the forecast of wet weather.
He added: “It looks like there could be a bit of rain so that’s good for us, we need to play in that as well.
“But we also know that they’re top side in the Australian division, and we also know what happened as far as the Lions is concerned in 2013, so we know it’s a big day on Wednesday for us all.”

YOUR dodgy Wi-Fi might be your own fault – and not your internet provider’s.
It turns out that there are a few mistakes linked to common household objects that can cause Wi-Fi troubles at home.
So much of what we do depends on having decent internet.
That’s why it’s important to make sure you’re not making simply errors that are silently killing your connection.
Microwave ovens are great for fast cooking – but not fast Wi-Fi.
For instance., Sky recommends keeping your router away from microwave ovens in an official Wi-Fi memo.
Aside from being a large metal object, microwave ovens operate a similar frequency range to common 2.4GHz WiFi (but with much greater power).
So you’ll want to keep your router far away from the microwave if you’ve got it set up in the kitchen.
On that note, that second thing to watch out for is metal of any kind.
You’ll definitely want to avoid having your router on or in a metal cabinet or shelving unit.
And avoid having any large metal objects nearby, like a washing machine.
Thirdly, watch out for mirrors, which can reflect and distort your Wi-Fi signal.
It’s fine to have mirrors in your home, but you might not want to have one sitting right behind your router.
Fourth, be mindful of other devices that operate on the same 2.4GHz frequency as your Wi-Fi.
Common offending gadgets include bluetooth speakers and cordless home phones.
And fifth, beware water. Drink it, obviously – but don’t put it near your router.
Aside from the obvious risk of water damage, large amounts of water can affect signals.
So don’t put your router on top of – or next to – a fish tank, or right by a giant vase filled with water.
As a bonus tip, keep your router off the floor too.
It can be tempting to dump it down there to get it out of the way, but routers generally work better when raised up.

“Everything you connect to your hub uses bandwidth, and the more you connect the more it can slow you down,” Sky explained.
“Even when you aren’t using them, app updates, device backups and your smart home devices can still be using your bandwidth in the background.
“Try disconnecting anything that doesn’t need to be connected so they’re not hogging your bandwidth when you’re trying to browse, work or play.
“And try avoiding activities that need a lot of speed, like online gaming or streaming in HD.”

You’ll want it about head height, so find a nice shelf (preferably not metal) to stick it on.
Of course, there are plenty of other reasons that your Wi-Fi might be struggling.
Your first port of call should be the speed that you’re paying for.
If you’ve got a cheaper broadband package then your internet speeds simply might not be very good.
It’s easy enough to check your speeds: try speedtest.net or fast.com.
See if that matches up with the speeds on the package that you paid for. If it’s miles off – like you’re getting an eighth of the promised speed – then something is probably up.
You’ll experience worse speeds the further you are from the router, so consider connecting gadgets via an ethernet cable if they’re very far away.
If you’ve got a big home, you might need several connection points around the home to get the best speeds in the most distant parts of your house.
And sometimes internet speeds can drop in an area temporarily due to a technical issue that has nothing to do with you – and is out of your control.
Also, if your household is making heavy use of the internet – multiple devices uploading and downloading – then you may experience Wi-Fi trouble too.

DEAR DEIDRE: MY rounded stomach and enlarged breasts make me feel hornier than ever and whenever I’m pregnant, I can’t get enough of my boyfriend.

STRICTLY Come Dancing star Dianne Buswell has announced the sad news that her beloved grandfather has died.
The ballroom star, 36, who won the last series of the BBC competition with comedian Chris McCausland, shared the devastating news today.
Dianne took to her Instagram with recent clips of her reuniting with her granddad following her successful stint on the show.
In one heartwarming moment, Dianne surprised her grandad with a special visit in Australia.
The 99-year-old was chuffed to see his granddaughter and called her a “champion” after her Glitterball win, as they held hands and swung them side-to-side.
Sharing her heartbreak, Dianne wrote: “Rest in peace pop, you were 99 years young. Thank you for all the stories and I just know you will be up there dancing with Nan already.”
Dianne’s fellow Strictly pals were quick to share messages of support.
Nancy Xu wrote: ” Sending you all the love,” with a string of purple heart emojis.
Pro dancer Michelle Tsiak posted: “I’m so sorry for your loss Di. Sending you and your family all my love.”
Vito Coppola shared a red heart and prayer emoji in the comment section.
The sad loss comes just a weeks after Dianne’s grandmother died.
In March she shared a montage of clips with her late nan and wrote: “Rest in peace nan. Love you very much. I’m so grateful I was home to say goodbye to such a special lady in my life.
“Now go be with pop he has been patiently waiting for you.”
Dianne has been open about her family and their health battles – including her dad’s battle with cancer.
In April 2024, she shared the happy news that her father Mark has finished chemotherapy in Australia after 12 rounds of treatment.
She wrote at the time: “To my daddy you did it 6 months later and 12 rounds done.
“I am so so PROUD of you it’s been a tough road but you have always done it with a smile and a thumbs up. I know you were scared and I know it was not easy but you have done it.”
She continued: “I wish so much I could be there right now and just cuddle you,” she penned. “You’re my hero and you have made me realise we all have so much more strength then we think.
“And to my beautiful mum who has not left your side and been the best support system ever thank you. Us kids are so lucky to have you both we love you so much.
“Now we need to book that trip in back to UK for the both of you.”
