THE family of a young boy who was found dead on railway tracks have released a touching tribute to their son.
The youth, Joshua Myers, 16, tragically passed away on Thursday, July 3.
Police were called to reports of a casualty on the tracks near Poynton station, Greater Manchester.
Paramedics raced to assist but Joshua was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Another 16-year-old was also tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
The British Transport Police are not treating the deaths as suspicious.
In a heartbroken statement, Joshua’s parents said: “Our son, Josh is incredibly precious to us and we are so proud to be his Mum and Dad.
“He had no idea how loved he was. Our hearts have been broken, and the world seems incomplete without him. He will stay in our hearts forever.
“He was the best big brother ever, who loved his big family. He was also very thoughtful, kind, bright and intelligent.
“His warm sense of humour always shone through all of his activities.
“He really enjoyed playing computer games, running, including park runs, and playing badminton.
“Many of his favourite days were when he was relaxing and playing whilst on holiday with his family – bodyboarding, swimming and looking after his younger siblings.
“Josh’s close friends also meant a lot to him and he really enjoyed spending time with them.
“Our family would like to thank everyone for all of the wonderfully kind thoughts and messages which we have received.
“Thank you to everyone, too, for respecting our privacy at this very sad time.”

Wearing his iconic hat – and the captain’s armband – Doherty led Margate out on the pitch for their pre-season clash with Tonbridge Angels on Saturday.
Margate had announced earlier in the week that they had “signed” Doherty and that the star would be making his debut against Tonbridge.
A statement read: “We are delighted to announce that we have signed Pete Doherty to make his Margate debut tomorrow against Tonbridge Angels.
“See you there, 2:45pm kick-off”.
However, those hoping to see the indie guitarist play the full 90 minutes were let down after he took the kickoff and was substituted just a few moments later.
Perhaps Margate could have done with Doherty up top for longer after they ultimately fell to a 3-2 defeat on the day.
Nonetheless, fans loved seeing Doherty make a brief cameo.
On social media, one wrote: “The living legend Mr Pete Doherty wearing number 10”.

And a third posted: “Jacob Adams has shared a pitch with Pete Doherty, what a world we live in”.
The Libertines have sponsored Margate’s kits since 2018/19 season and continue to adorn the front of their shirts for the upcoming campaign.
After the game came to a close Doherty was straight back to his usual job, headlining a homecoming gig down the road at Margate venue Dreamland amusement park.

Forecasters said a “good deal of dry weather” is on the cards for the coming days.
Tomorrow is also set to be a mild dayTemperatures are set to soar to 25C on Thursday
Mercury will hit 23C in parts of the country tomorrow but the best of the weather will land later in the week.
Met Eireann said: “A dry day tomorrow with spells of sunshine, though it will be cloudier in north Connacht and Ulster with isolated showers.
“Highest temperatures of 14C in the northwest to 23C in the southeast in moderate northwest winds.
” Becoming cloudier overnight, though clear spells will persist in Leinster and east Ulster.
“Dry for most with well scattered light showers. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 13C in light to moderate northwest winds.”
There will be some “scattered patches of light rain” on Tuesday.
They added: ” Largely cloudy with scattered patches of light rain and drizzle spreading over the western half of the country. Remaining dry further east.
“Highest temperatures of 17 to 22C in light to moderate west to northwest winds.
“A good deal of cloud overnight but mostly dry apart from lingering spots of drizzle in parts of the west and north.
“Mild with lowest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees in light westerly winds.”
And a similar picture is on the cards for Wednesday before temperatures hit 25C in parts of the country on Thursday.
A forecaster added: “A dry day for most with sunny spells, though well scattered showers will develop through the day.
“Very warm with highest temperatures of 20 to 25 degrees in a light southwest or variable breeze.
“Remaining dry at first on Friday but becoming more unsettled for the weekend with outbreaks of rain spreading from the Atlantic and possibly blustery conditions at times.”
Carlow Weather’s Alan O’Reilly also took to social media to update his followers on the week ahead this morning.
He said: “The good news is things are looking up for next week.
“Now it’s not going to be an amazing week but it is going to get better and better.
“As we go through Wednesday, Thursday and Friday it will start to get warmer and the high pressure might just hold that weak Atlantic front out there.
“So that rain and wind might stay out west in the Atlantic on Friday and for the weekend.”

VIKTOR GYOKERES has been given extra time to report for training with Sporting Lisbon.
But the Arsenal and Manchester United target is still set to go on strike.
Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres has been given extra time to report for pre-seasonGyokeres is still being linked with Arsenal and Manchester United
Sporting have told Swedish international Gyokeres, who was due to report for training tomorrow, he now has until Friday to meet up with the squad.
The same applies to other players who have been on international duty.
That includes Danish international Conrad Harder and Portuguese Under-21 winger Geovany Quenda, who will join Chelsea in 2026.
They were also due to report tomorrow but late Saturday night were handed an extra four days off ahead of the club travelling to the Algarve at the weekend for a pre-season training camp.
Gyokeres has once again indicated to Sporting officials that he is unlikely to report for training and he wants a move from the club, preferably Arsenal although United and Juventus are also interested.
He is angry that his club has broken a gentleman’s agreement that he could leave for £60million.
Sporting, knowing there is massive interest in their star striker, are now demanding at least £68.5m.
Club president Frederico Varandas, who has had a public falling out with the former Coventry forward, had hoped that Gyokeres was bluffing and that he would return to training but this now seems unlikely.

Gyokeres, 27, a £20m signing from Coventry in 2023, has scored 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting.
Gyokeres has turned down offers from Saudi Pro League sides Al-Hilal and Al-Qadisiyah.
And the centre-forward would prefer to play in the Premier League.

WITH the costs skyrocketing, going out for dinner has become more expensive than ever, especially if you have a family.
But as cash-strapped Brits are struggling to make ends meet, one savvy foodie has revealed how you can enjoy two sides at Wagamama for free.
tiktok/@catchagemmOne savvy foodie revealed how you can score two free sides at Wagamama[/caption]
tiktok/@catchagemmThere’s a reason you shouldn’t throw out your takeaway boxes, he revealed[/caption]
The beloved restaurant chain has become a firm favourite for many looking for delicious meals that are also hearty – and turns out, you can now upgrade your dishes with extra free sides.
The Japanese-inspired chain, known for its legendary Chicken Katsu curry and ramen dishes, offers a huge variety of sides customers can choose from, such as edamame beans for that protein kick and prawn crackers.
According to one money-smart foodie, only known as @catchagemm on TikTok, there’s a simple way to save almost £5 for the edamame beans alone during your next visit.
And if you love ordering a cheeky takeaway from the popular chain, you might not want to chuck those boxes away.
Spilling the beans on the platform, the TikToker first urged foodies to download the Wagamama app on their mobile devices.
”Once you download the app and sign up a new account, you’ll get a free voucher for either edamame or prawn crackers,” he said in the video.
”You can redeem these with your main.”
The cheapest mains, according to their new menu, start from just £10 – and by adding the free side, you’ll make them more filling.
The savvy foodie went on to reveal another easy hack to bag a free side.
”If you have one of these Wagamama takeaway boxes, all you need to do is just bring it in.
”The staff will let you know that you can actually trade this for a side.
”Then they will give you one of these vouchers.”
With this voucher, he said, bargain-hunting foodies can claim the free side on the same day or during their next visit to the beloved chain.
”You can trade it in for a free side as long as you buy a main.
”Combine both offers – the one on the app and the one for the free side – and then all you need to do is just buy the main and then you’ll get two free sides.”

Site closure
However, if you live in Manchester, you won’t be able to enjoy this epic offer – as its Spinningfields location has shut its doors after two decades of serving up fan-favourite dishes, we reported in February.
The chain first opened the Spinningfields site in August 2005, making it the second Wagamama restaurant in the city.
The venue, located in Spinningfields Square opposite Rosa’s Thai, is now listed as permanently closed on the chain’s website.
A message told customers: “We’re now closed at this location. but don’t worry, you can still get your favourites at the nearby St Peter’s Square or Printworks restaurants.”
A spokesperson for Wagamama confirmed the decision, stating: “Given there are already two other wagamama restaurants in Manchester, guests are being directed to the two other sites to either wagamama Printworks or wagamama St Peters Square.”
The spokesperson also hinted at potential future expansions, adding: “We are always looking for suitable sites in and around the area.”
Despite the closure, Wagamama continues to operate across more than 170 locations across the country, including Greater Manchester locations in the Trafford Centre, Didsbury, and Salford’s MediaCity.

A MISSING fisherman is feared dead after getting attacked by two sharks while dragging in a huge haul of sardines in South Africa.
Two pals rushed to the spot where he disappeared – but as the fins of two other beasts suspected to be Bronze Whalers headed for them, they retreated.

GettyA fisherman is thought to have been attacked by two sharks[/caption]
The horror attack on Friday afternoon happened on a beach popular with divers and surfers at Mfazazana, Kwa-Zulu Natal province, 60 miles south of Durban.
A National Sea Rescue Institute spokesman said: “A 37-year-old local man is reported missing following a shark incident that involved 3 local fishermen.
“We and the SA police and the Water Policing and Diving Services unit were told a man disappeared under the water after a shark surfaced where he was netting.
“It appears that at least one friend attempted to intervene but it is believed that he was confronted by at least 2 sharks in the surf and he retreated to the shoreline.
“It is believed the sharks were feeding on a school of sardines at the time. A large scale search is underway but so far no sign of the missing man has been found”.
In the last 25 years, 37 people have been killed by sharks off the coast of South Africa – with the last being restauranteur Kimon Bisogno, 39, in September 2022.
The pizza shop boss was swimming in Plettenberg Bay when a Great White attacked her while husband Diego Milesi, 40, and daughter Luna, 5, were on the beach.
In June 2022 married dad and stockbroker Bruce Wolov, 63, – a snorkeller and long distance swimmer – was attacked and killed by a Great White in the same bay.
The year before Robert Frauestein, 38, was killed by a suspected Great White at Chinsta, Eastern Cape, but only his bodyboard with huge bite marks was found.
Each year billions of sardines run 1000 mile up the coast from Cape Town to Mozambique in shoals up to 4 miles long and 1.5 miles wide and 90ft deep.
Tens of thousands of dolphins lay in wait for them and round them up into bait balls 60ft in diameter and 20 feet deep and then attack followed by hungry sharks.
The feeding frenzy occurs between May and July and it is the biggest annual migration in the world as the sardines as they head for cold water to spawn.
Charter boat skipper Walter Bernadis runs a company African Watersports at Port St Johns on the Wild Coast in Eastern Cape that takes tourists out to watch.
He said: “When the sardines are running it is on fire out there and you can see hundreds of sharks tearing into the sardines in a feeding frenzy like no other.
“A photographer with us Sergio Lucas got these amazing shots of a bronze whaler shark doing a somersault over the top of a bait ball as it feasted on sardines.
“There are millions and millions heading past us on the cold Agulhas current but hundreds of thousands never make it thanks to the waiting dolphins and sharks.
“We call it the Greatest Shoal on Earth and it never fails to deliver” he said.
Local communities who live on or near the coast along the shoal route flock to the coast in their thousands with large nets they fill every day to feed their villages.
Bolivian photographer Sergio Lucas, 31, who captured images of the shark leaping from the water said: “It was just insane with sharks attacking from every angle.
“The water was turned into a huge froth and I will never forget it” he said.
With regards to the death of the fisherman respected skipper Walter said: “It is unusual for a fisherman to be taken from the beach when netting the sardines.
“But wherever sharks are feeding on a bait ball it is a danger and the last time I knew of someone bitten in one was a British man who scuba dived into one.
“That was against all advice and he got chewed up but he survived” he said.
Great White’s also turn up at the feast but they are not there for the sardines but the tens of thousands of dolphins and seals that follow the shoal up the coast.

WATCH the terrifying video of a Texas river swallowing a whole bridge in just two minutes as killer floods engulfed parts of the state.
At least 51 people have died and two dozens girls are missing after flash flooding bulldozed through homes and summer camps – and dozens are still missing.

TwitterLocals watched from the road as the bridge disappeared[/caption]
Timelapse footage of the Llano river shows the terrifying pace at which the water rose.
A road bridge crosses the river, which is filled with rocks, islands and trees.
Suddenly, a wall of water cascades down the river.
The surface level rises sharply – and in under two minutes the bridge is totally submerged.
All but the top leaves of the very tallest trees along the river disappear as thousands of tons of water flood through the valley.
Locals on the ground – including public safety officials – captured the bridge disappearing from ground level.
They are repeatedly forced to seek higher ground as the torrent climbs up the river bank.
Rescuers are still scouring the devastated landscape in central Texas, but hopes of finding survivors are fast dwindling.
Worst hit was Kerr County, particularly areas around the Guadeloupe River where waters rose by 26ft in 45 minutes following a freak dump of rainfall.
About a third of a year’s worth of rain fell in a few short hours, completely overwhelming the waterways and creating an “extraordinary catastrophe”.
Larry Leitha, Kerr County sheriff, said: “We have recovered 43 deceased individuals in Kerr County. Among these who are deceased we have 28 adults and 15 children.”
Dalton Rice, Kerville city manager, said on Saturday: “We’ve been rescuing people out of these camps by the hundreds. There’s a lot of folks that are shelter in place, so we leave them in place to make sure that we get them food, water.”
Multiple people lost their lives in other counties, bringing the current confirmed death toll to 51 – though this is sadly expected to rise.
The most desperate search is for a group of school-age girls who went missing from Camp Mystic – a Christian summer camp near the river.

Heartbreaking photos from the wrecked site show sodden mattresses and teddies strewn across dormitories.
On Saturday, Sheriff Leitha said 27 of the children were still missing.
The parents of all the missing children have been notified – and many turned to social media to share desperate pleas for information about their girls.
Local reports suggest that up to five girls have been confirmed as dead, citing their families.
Janie Hunt, 9, was among the dead, her distraught mother told CNN.
A relative of nine-year-old Renee Smajstrla revealed on Facebook that the girls’s body had been found.

“We ache with all who loved her and are praying endlessly.”
Lila shared a cabin with her best friend Eloise Peck, 8, who also lost her life.

Her mom, Missy Peck, told Fox4: “Eloise was literally friends with everyone. She loved spaghetti but not more than she loved dogs and animals.
“She passed away with her cabinmate and best friend Lila Bonner who also died.
“Eloise had a family who loved her fiercely for the 8 years she was with us. Especially her Mommy.”
Camp Mystic’s owner and director Dick Eastland is amongst those confirmed to have died.
Elsewhere in Texas, four people were confirmed dead in Travis County, northeast of Kerr, and 13 people were missing, according to public information office director Hector Nieto.
The total number of people missing is still unknown.
