NICO HULKENBERG joked it was “a long time coming” as he banished an unwanted record of most starts in F1 without a podium.
It was the German 37-year-old’s 239th career start as he held off seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton to finish in third in a bonkers race at Silverstone.

EPAHulkenberg was swarmed by his team in jubilant celebrations[/caption]
Hulkenberg started the race in 19th and hadn’t stood on a podium of any motorsport race since the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2015.
The Sauber driver, who made his debut with Williams in 2010, choked back tears on the team radio and said: “I don’t think I can comprehend what we’ve just done. Oh my god.”
He was seen embracing his team in jubilant celebrations at Parc Ferme while also sharing a hug with team-mate Gabriel Bortoleto, who had crashed out earlier on.
Speaking to Jenson Button in front of fans after the race, he said: “It feels good. It’s been a long time coming, hasn’t it? But I always knew we have it in us, I have it in me, somewhere.
“What a race. Coming from virtually last, doing it all over again from last weekend.
“It’s pretty surreal, to be honest. I’m not sure how it all happened, but obviously crazy, mixed conditions.
“It was a survival fight for a lot of the race. I think we just were really on it with the right calls, the right tyres in the right moment, made no mistakes – quite incredible.

“I was in denial until probably the last pit stop, but then when I heard we gapped Lewis quite a bit with the one extra lap, I was like, ‘ok, this is good, this is some breathing space.’
“But then he was catching quite quickly, so the pressure was there. It was an intense race but we didn’t crack, no mistakes, and obviously really, really happy with that.”
“I was thinking that he’s going to give it all in front of his home crowd, and I was like, ‘sorry guys, but it’s also my day.’ I had to stick my neck out. I’m super happy.”
Hulkenberg was one of three drivers presented with unique Lego Brick trophies after the race alongside McLaren pair Norris and Piastri.
In a press conference alongside the former Haas racer, Piastri cheekily asked how it felt to wait 15 years for an F1 trophy, only for it to be made of Lego.
However, the Hulk adorably revealed he would be sharing his spoils with his three-year-old daughter, Noemi.
He said: “I like Lego! My daughter can play with it too!”

A WOMAN allegedly “dug” her fingernails into a reveller’s arms, causing an infection, during a street mugging in Dublin.
Diane Travers, 32, of no fixed abode, was refused bail when she appeared at a weekend sitting of Dublin District Court.
issuuJudge Máire Conneely heard the man was put on antibiotics for several days[/caption]
Garda Shane McConkey said the accused was charged with a robbery on Sycamore Street, Dublin 2, on May 31 last.
He objected to bail and stated that at around 3.15 am, the injured party was on his way home after socialising in the city centre. He turned onto Sycamore Street, when he was allegedly pursued by a male and the accused. The male punched him in the back of the head, causing him to become disorientated.
The pair then wrestled him into a doorway before another male then became involved, and they threw him to the ground.
One of the male robbers picked it up as Ms Travers allegedly “dug her nails into his forearm and attempted to pull his watch off of his wrist.”
The garda stated that this caused the man extreme pain, saying: “He attempted to fight back but was overwhelmed when the third male then returned and helped pin him on the ground.”
It was alleged that the three suspects then rooted through his pockets.
The man shouted for help and the trio fled when several members of the public approached.
The court heard there was a bid to use his bank card, which had been in his phone case, in a shop at O’Connell Street.
However, the transaction did not go through as he had already frozen his account.
It was claimed the man suffered bruising to both his elbows, scrapes to his right forearm, and deep nail marks on his wrist and left bicep.
He went to a doctor the following day and needed a tetanus shot due to the deep nail marks on his arms becoming infected.
Judge Conneely heard the man was put on antibiotics for several days. He also missed work due to his injuries and the psychological effects.
CCTV footage was obtained.
Defence counsel Kevin McCrave submitted that she could be released with conditions, however, the application was denied.
Legal aid was granted to Ms Travers who will appear again next week.
She has not yet indicated a plea with a decision awaited on whether she will be tried in the District Court or the Circuit Court, which has wider sentencing powers.

The former Wheel of Fortune star put on a leggy display as she flashed her tanned pins in the tiny frock.
Jenny’s hair looked incredible as it was styled into effortless curls for her appearance on the stage.
The TV and radio star was welcoming on a vareity of acts to the stage to perform for crowd attending the festival.
Amongst those on the bill for Brit Fest were Razorlight, UB40 and Midge Urie.
Looking preened to perfection, Jenny got the concert-goers in the mood for the starry line-up as well as catching more than a few eyes in her chic golden number.
Jenny’s time on stage comes after she opened up on having a hysterectomy towards the end of last year.
The operation to remove her uterus saw a surgeon control a robotic device from a highly sensitive console to be as minimally invasive as possible.
In total, Jenny had five insertions in her abdomen to remove her womb, which she said weighed one kilogram.
Prior to the procedure, she had been living with an enlarged uterus, fibroids (non-cancerous growths) and adenomyosis which caused heavy bleeding, constipation and a constant need to urinate.
Now, it appears that Jenny is living her best life following the operation after dancing the night away at Brit Fest.
She went on to share a slew of snaps to social media to document her time at the festival.

FANS might never see Ozzy on stage again – but his son Jack has promised that a big-screen biopic about the rock legend’s life is not far off.
Speaking ahead of his dad’s farewell show, Jack said: “We have the film on the way. We have a lot of good momentum on the Ozzy biopic.

“We have a director attached now, and the script is done, and Sony Studios is going to be producing it.
“It is about to go through a script rewrite.
“It’s going to be raw.
“We are not pulling any punches, we are really laying it all out.”
Jack revealed a top team is working on the film, adding: “The director is absolutely phenomenal.
“I can’t say who he is, but we are very lucky to have him and he is a die-hard fan.
“If the evil overlords of Hollywood give us the green light, we could be filming in the spring, so maybe it will be out by the summer of 2027.”
Hailing his dad’s incredible 55-year career, Jack said: “His contribution to music is bigger than his faults.
“This whole weekend has been emotional.”
Jack also paid tribute to Ozzy and his struggles following a Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2019, saying: “He has become a source of inspiration for a lot of people with this disease.
“He is an incredible man.”
I’ll say.
Ozzy’s epic farewell show wows 40k fans
★★★★★
IT was the day heavy metal royalty returned to the Midlands – and fans welcomed back Brum’s No1 son, Ozzy Osbourne, with open arms.
“Put your f***ing hands up,” roared the Prince of Darkness as his bat-throne rose through the floor of the stage.

A ticket for Black Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning show
Black Sabbath’s epic Back To The Beginning show at Birmingham’s Villa Park was a remarkable return to form for Ozzy.
But clearly the thought of playing with his peers to a huge crowd of devoted metalheads — with another 5.8million watching Saturday’s live stream at home — spurred him on.
Armed with a spray for his throat and eyeliner so thick Claudia Winkleman would be jealous, Ozzy worked his way through a 20-minute solo set, before returning to perform alongside his original Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler for the final time.
Ozzy’s set was born out of his Eighties solo hits, with Mr Crowley leaving him visibly emotional as he heard the 40,000-strong crowd chanting his name.
“It’s so good to be on this f***ing stage,” Ozzy told us.
“I don’t know what to say.
“I’ve been laid up for six years.
“You have no idea how I feel.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
Ozzy — who has sold more than 70million records worldwide with Sabbath — may have remained on his throne throughout, but it didn’t mean he’s lost his natural showmanship.
He pulled faces for the crowd, clapped his hands above his head and gleefully pulled the trigger on a powerful water jet, which drenched front row fans who had held their positions for eight hours to get the best view of the performers.
“Go f***ing crazy for me!” Ozzy bellowed, before singing Crazy Train — with the entire stadium getting to their feet.
“That is the best thing I’ve ever done,” Ozzy told us, before he was whisked away to prepare for his last ever set with Sabbath.
This show was the first time the heavy metal pioneers had performed together since 2017.
But they have a magic the sands of time can’t dull — and fans went nuts for War Pigs, N.I.B., Iron Man and Paranoid.
The poignancy of this final show was not lost on anyone.
And I watched grown men and women wipe away tears when fireworks lit up the sky over the stadium.
As Anthrax’s frontman John Bush put it, while joining acts including Metallica, Guns n’ Roses and Slayer in performing tributes to Ozzy during their killer sets: “All of us in this stadium plays for one f***ing reason.
“And that’s to celebrate the music Black Sabbath gave us.
“We’re not here to say goodbye.
“We’re here to say thank you.”
OZZY’S band have been awarded the Freedom of Birmingham, with the tourist board declaring this the “Summer of Sabbath”.
And wandering through the city at the weekend, there were tributes everywhere.
Outside New Street train station a huge 36m mural has been painted of the band, while fans flocked to the Black Sabbath bench on Broad Street for pictures.
If you’re in town and haven’t caught the mural yet, it’s quite a sight.
Ozzy’s son Jack told me: “It has been insane to be here.
“Every street I’ve gone down it was Ozzy and Sabbath everywhere.”
SHE is the business mastermind behind Ozzy’s epic career and has stuck by him through thick and thin over the decades.
But now Sharon Osbourne has revealed she’s ready to take a step back.

She said: “I’ve been doing this since I was 15, and I’m done.
“We just want to live our life and do what we want to do and not have to follow an itinerary any more.”
Of the reunion, Sharon added: “This is what we thought would be the best way to do it.
“It’s a celebration of Ozzy and Sabbath and the music.”

Then the stunning strummer was back alongside Faith No More’s Mike Bordin, guitar whizz Nuno Bettencourt, ex-Megadeath bassist David Ellefson, keyboardist Adam Wakeman and one-time Ozzy bandmate, Jake E Lee for a rendition of The Ultimate Sin.
They were just one of the supergroups put together by US rocker Tom Morello to honour legend Ozzy on the day.
Luckily Lzzy could more than hold her own.
DOCU WITH SERIOUS BITE
CELEBRATIONS included a world film premiere of The Nine Lives Of Ozzy Osbourne, at Birmingham’s Millennium Point on Friday.
In the documentary, which is available now on Prime, Ozzy opens up about the now-infamous time, at a 1982 concert in Iowa, when he unwittingly bit the head off a dead bat.

He said: “People would once throw sheep testicles at me, live snakes and dead rats on stage.
“Someone threw a frog and it was the biggest one I have ever seen.
“And someone threw a bat.
“I thought it was a rubber bat and crunched down and realised it was real.
“Bats are the biggest carriers of rabies in the world and I had to go to hospital and get my rabies shots.”
Blud’s up for salute
A SURPRISE appearance from punk rocker Yungblud, who came out on stage to pay tribute to Ozzy, stole the show.
The metalheads in the crowd may not have known his music before but I bet they’ll be looking him up today after his incredible rendition of Sabbath’s 1972 hit Changes.

Yungblud’s vocals were outstanding and the passion in his performance stopped the 40,000-strong crowd in their tracks – with the whole stadium singing along with him.

Yungblud’s short but sweet appearance was one of the highlights of the night – with Steven Tyler and Ronnie Wood’s performances also going down a storm.

Georgia has removed her wedding ring and wiped all traces of the musician who she once called her “best friend” from her Instagram page — including glossy snaps from their wedding.
A source told The Sun: “Georgia’s marriage to Kris seems to be over.
“It’s on the rocks.
“She’s looking to the future and is surrounded by friends and her family.”
Georgia, who was runner-up on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2015, had previously posted a series of photos from their big day.
She and Kris wed at a log cabin-style venue.
The actress, had been engaged to Kris, 35, for two years before they married.
Georgia, who played Katy Armstrong in ITV’s Corrie from 2010 to 2015, shared her excitement in the lead up to their nuptials, writing online under a picture of her hen do.
She said: “I am about to marry my best friend.
“The person who makes me a better person.
“Here’s to the last month of being a Foote.”
Georgia dated her Strictly Come Dancing partner Giovanni Pernice after they met during her stint on the show in 2015.
The duo finished as runners-up.
But they called it quits as a couple the following year and announced their split in a joint statement.
At the time, Georgia posted on X: “It is with great sadness we have decided to split up. There is nobody else involved.
“It was not an easy decision to make, but sometimes you realise that it is better to be friends and this is one of those times.
”We both have very busy work schedules for the rest of the year and so we are both going to focus on our upcoming work projects — and we wish each other well for the future.”
Georgia left Corrie to pursue other opportunities. Since then, she’s taken roles in shows including Sky comedy Trollied and US sci-fi drama The Outpost.
A representative for Georgia did not respond to our approach for comment.

IRAN’S Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has broken cover for the first time since the 12-day war that saw the US and Israel strike Iran’s nuclear sites.
The 85-year-old appeared smiling on Saturday at a packed Tehran mosque – after reports he had spent days in a “secure location”.

The Iran State Radio and Television (IRIB) building hit by an Israeli strike on June 16GettyUS President Donald Trump claimed he ‘saved’ Khamenei ‘from a very ugly and ignominious death’ by Israel[/caption]
It was Khamenei’s first live appearance since war broke out on June 13, when Israeli forces launched a sudden wave of airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites.
The US joined in days later, bombing three major sites on June 22 – including the Fordow Fuel Enrichment Facility.
Top Iranian military commanders and nuclear scientists were reportedly killed in brutal Israeli strikes, forcing Khamenei to vanish from public view.
Since the air war began, he has given only prerecorded speeches – sparking rumours about his safety.
But footage aired by Iranian state media on Saturday showed the leader smiling and waving to a crowd of chanting supporters at a mosque.
Dozens of people were seen attending the event to mark Ashura – the holiest day of the Shia Muslim calendar.
It comes 11 days after the 12-Day War between Iran, Israel and the US ended in a ceasefire between Iran and Israel.
Khamenei appeared on state TV claiming Iran had struck back, delivering a “slap to America’s face” with a missile strike on a US airbase in Qatar.
He said: “The American regime entered a direct war because it felt that if it did not, the Zionist regime would be completely destroyed.
“However, it gained no achievements from this war.
“Here, too, the Islamic Republic emerged victorious, and in return, the Islamic Republic delivered a severe slap to America’s face.”
US President Donald Trump took to social media to mock the claim and say that he had personally blocked an attempt to kill Khamenei.
“And he does not have to say, ‘THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP!’

EPATrump hit back saying Khamenei ‘got beat to hell’[/caption]
“I knew EXACTLY where he was sheltered, and would not let Israel, or the U.S. Armed Forces, by far the Greatest and Most Powerful in the World, terminate his life.”
Israeli officials had openly hinted that Khamenei was “not off the table” as a potential target during the air war.
But at the start of the war Trump claimed that while Khamenei was an “easy target”, the US was “not going to take him out… at least not for now”.
The US president also blasted the Iranian leader’s claims that Iran won the war.
He wrote: “Why would the so-called ‘Supreme Leader,’ Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, of the war-torn Country of Iran, say so blatantly and foolishly that he won the War with Israel, when he knows his statement is a lie, it is not so.
“As a man of great faith, he is not supposed to lie.”
It comes as Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi – one of Iran’s most hardline clerics – issued a religious fatwa calling for the deaths of both Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, branding them “enemies of God”.
What is a fatwa?
By Sayan Bose, Foreign News Reporter
A fatwa is a formal ruling or interpretation on a point of Islamic law issued by a Marja – a title given to the highest level of Twelver Shia religious cleric.
It calls on Muslims, including the Islamic governments and individuals, to ensure its enforcement.
In countries where Islamic law forms the basis of the legal system, a fatwa can be binding.
A fatwa issued by Iran’s first Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, in 1988 led to the mass execution of thousands of political prisoners – including some reportedly as young as 13 – during a two-month crackdown.
The 1988 executions were revealed in the memoirs of Grand Ayatollah Hossein-Ali Montazeri, one of Ayatollah Khomeini’s closest advisors who went on to condemn the act.
In his memoirs, he accused prisoners of “waging war against God” and urged Death Commissioners in charge of the mass killings to “show no mercy”.
Another well-known Fatwa was issued against novelist Salman Rushdie in 1989 following the publication of his book, which was considered offensive by some within the Islamic community.
In 2022, a man allegedly sympathetic to the Iranian regime attempted to attack Rushdie during a public event in New York.

THE PARENTS of two eight-year-old girls who were killed when a Land Rover crashed into their school have vowed to “uncover the truth” of what happened that day two years on from the tragic incident.
PASelena Lau, eight, was killed in the horror on July 6, 2023[/caption]
PANuria Sajjad, eight, also lost her life in the tragedy at The Study Prep School in Wimbledon[/caption]
The horror unfolded as a Land Rover Defender smashed through a fence while school children and staff were having a tea-party outside on the last day of term.
Speaking at a remembrance event on Sunday, Nuria’s mother Smera Chohan said: “We have had to fight very hard – harder than any victim should ever have had to – but we remain committed to uncovering the truth about what happened.”
In January, the Metropolitan Police rearrested arrested driver Claire Freemantle 48, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
She remains in custody while investigations continue.
The 48-year-old was originally released after an initial investigation by the Roads and Transport Policing Command, and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), concluded she should face no further action.
Freemantle claimed she had an epileptic seizure behind the wheel and faced no charges.
They added that there was no evidence Ms Freemantle had ever suffered a similar seizure before and she had no previously diagnosed medical condition.
A review was carried out by the Specialist Crime Review Group (SCRG).
It highlighted issues with how officers carried out the initial investigation.
It was revealed there was a key problem with establishing the evidence of an epileptic seizure, and diagnosis without brain scans.
“Our main priority is to ensure the lines of inquiry identified by the review are progressed. I would urge people to avoid speculation,” Det Supt Lewis Basford said.
At the memorial on Sunday, hundreds of people from the local area joined Nuria’s mother Smera Chohan, her father Sajjad Butt and Selena’s parents Franky Lau and Jessie Deng.
Two benches dedicated to the victims’ memories were decorated with flowers and messages and a two minutes’ silence was observed.
Following a two minutes’ silence – one minute for each girl – Ms Chohan delivered an emotional speech.
“We still await answers for what happened on that fateful day… and with all your support, we will continue our fight until we have the answers we deserve,” Ms Chohan said.
“Nothing is going to make our lives the same again… we were parents.
“I sometimes don’t know if I’m a mother, I need to know why I’m not a mother and Nuria deserved a thorough investigation.”
Selena’s father added: “We are still waiting, we want a version of events that adds up.”
Helen Lowe, who was the school’s headteacher at the time of the crash, said: “There are still no answers to what happened on that day, and in that two-year period, there have been a number of events which involved awful tragedy for children.
“But the people who perpetrated those events have had to be answerable, and we don’t have that, which makes it – for the parents and for us – impossible to move on.”

“A £100 price tag in Primark, never thought I’d see the day!”, posted a critic, referring to a black dress that Rita, 34, wore to attend the British Fashion Awards.
Another commented on the frock: “Primark isn’t Primarking any more.”
One former customer, mum-of-five and TikToker Mrs Luckey, has now also stopped going to the high street store, dubbing it ”so expensive”.
The cash-savvy mum recently revealed where’s been going instead – and how ditching Primark for a supermarket saved her a fortune.
Ahead of the summer holidays, the thrifty mother bagged a mega pile of clothes for less than £80 – and it’s all thanks to shopping at ASDA.
The mega supermarket has long been a firm favourite for fashionistas – and there is plenty of wallet-friendly kids clothing too.
During her trip to the store, the money-smart TikToker nabbed a total of 14 pairs of shorts, 14 summery tops, as well as five pairs of colourful leggings.
The monster haul, which came to just £79, also included six sets of adorable pyjamas that her kids are sure to love.
Sharing the jaw-dropping finds, the mum said in the video: ”Primark has become so expensive.
”So instead of going there, I went to ASDA instead.
”I got the girls a pack of shorts each, all seven of them cost me about £8.
”So that was 14 pairs of shorts for about £16.”

Last weekend mum-of-four Debra Wright died after the jet ski she was riding pillion on was hit by a boat being piloted by a friend off Manilva west of Estepona on the Costa del Sol.
Her Greater Manchester-based husband Chris, 52, described her as an “amazing woman” in a tribute. He also told how he cradled his dying wife in his arms.
The unnamed friend was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and an alcohol-related offence after failing a breath test.
He was released without charge pending an ongoing criminal probe after appearing in court in Estepona last Sunday a day after the tragedy.
