The 12 best & cheapest high street wedding dresses – including £27 Shein gown that looks way more expensive & royal dupe

GETTING married is all fun and games – before you discover you may have to fork out a small fortune on a wedding dress.

As a bride-to-be already sweating at the price of canapes and flowers for my big day, I decided to turn to the high street for my bridal gown – and LOVED what I discovered.

Forget spending thousands on your wedding dress, this Shein gown cost just £27 at the time of buying[/caption]

On average, brides in the UK spend between £1,300 and £1,500 on their wedding dress, with some designers even charging upwards of £10,000 for their gowns.

Considering I’m going to wear mine for a matter of hours, I challenged myself to see what I could find for under £150.

From Asos and Shein, to Coast and River Island, there were so many stylish options available for brides on a budget.

I even find a host of short ones that looked perfect for a registry office or intimate elopement – many with cute bows on the back.

Here are some of my tops finds, that would be perfect for any bride to say ‘I do’ to…

Coast

Lace wedding gowns are having a huge moment – just look at what Lauren Sanchez opted for with her bespoke Dolce & Gabbana gown when she married Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos.

I couldn’t resist this absolutely breathtaking High Neck Vintage Style Embellished gown, which came in at just £3 over budget at £153 – but I decided to make an allowance for it.

It was so comfortable to wear and I immediately sent pics to my friends and showed them to stylish train too.

Out of all the high street shops, I found that Coast had one of the biggest wedding dress ranges, and were handily stocked on numerous retailers like Boohoo, Debenhams and John Lewis, so would really recommend having a look.

With many people opting for registry offices for their ‘legal ceremonies’ or simply they want to save the cash and have a micro wedding (fair!), we are seeming a boom in short wedding dresses.

If following tradition is not top of your priorities list, a long poofy wedding dress doesn’t need to be either.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t still look 10/10 elegant and *bridal*.

I loved this puffed sleeve mini dress which cost just £89.10 and was super flattering.

It even had a huge bow on the back which elevated it from ‘just’ a little white dress…

Ever since Anne of Green Gables drooled over puffed sleeves, I have had a mild obsession with them.

So continuing the voluminous sleeve fad is this maxi dress which is sure to make a statement and turn heads.

I loved the flattering, wrap bodice, which helped to nip me in at the waist, with the long, romantic skirt cascading out underneath.

If you have a garden wedding or a sweet country parish ceremony, this could be just the dress for you – and at £90.30, you get a lot of puffed sleeve for your money.

When it comes to my wedding dress, my starting point is probably Kate Middleton’s iconic bridal lace gown, which will go down in history for its timeless design.

While I may not have a spare £250,000 for her Alexander McQueen extravaganza, Shein thankfully has the next best thing.

I was so excited to try their £86 replica and it certainly delivered.

I felt so elegant and also comfortable in their structured gown which had stunning lace sleeves.

For it being over 2,900 times cheaper than Kate’s, it was such a great deal.

Wedding makeup do's and dont's

Paige Williams, Founder & CEO of the iconic P.Louise makeup brand shared her tips.

DO: Go timeless over trendy
We all love a trend babe, but for your wedding day? Let’s keep it classic. Think soft glam, radiant skin, neutral tones with a pop of sparkle – You want to look back in ten years and still be obsessed with your glam. Classic never goes out of style.

DON’T: Try something totally new
Your wedding day is not the time to switch it up with neon liner or completely new brows babe. You want to feel like you, just the most elevated, glowing version. Stick to what you know makes you feel confident and gorgeous.

DO: Prioritise long-wear formulas
Your wedding is a marathon, not a sprint. You’re not just walking down the aisle, you’re dancing, hugging, crying, and posing all day long. You need makeup that’s in it for the long haul. Go for waterproof, transfer-proof & cry-proof products. Your face needs to slay from ‘I do’ to the last dance and be able to handle those happy tears.

DON’T: Overload your base
Babes, less is more. You want coverage, not cake. Go for that breathable, buildable base that lets your real skin glow through. You’re aiming for flawless, not flat. Trust me, your photos will thank you.

DO: Book a trial
Non-negotiable. Whether you’re DIY-ing your glam or booking a MUA, a trial is your makeup dress rehearsal. Test it in daylight, take selfies, wear it for hours. It’s the only way to know it’ll hit just right on the day.

DON’T: Forget your neck & chest
Don’t stop the glam at your jawline, babe. Blend that foundation, bronzer and glow down to your neck and chest, we’re going for seamless, snatched and sculpted from every angle. You’re the main event, let it show.

The 80p spray you need to be blasting your houseplants with – it smells so good and keeps bugs away

JUST like your outside plants, houseplants are susceptible to pests too.

But don’t worry, you don’t need to spend a fortune to keep them at bay because there’s a simple spray you can whip up for next to nothing.

The DIY spray is perfect for keeping your houseplants in top condition[/caption]

Nancy explained how to make to spray at home in seconds[/caption]

This Morning pro Nancy Birtwhistle revealed the easy trick anyone can use, and you’ll be wondering why you didn’t try it out sooner.

On the show, Nancy explained that a quick spritz of the DIY spray can keep things like green flies away for good.

So, what do you need to make the spray at home?

You’ll be happy to know most of the ingredients you’ll likely already have in your cupboard.

Start by filling a bottle with around 500ml of water and add in about a teaspoon of washing up liquid.

Next pop in a teaspoon on cooking oil – any you’ve got on hand will do the job.

“That just makes it stick,” Nancy explained to This Morning hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard.

And finally, a few drops of clove bud oil should be added to finish to spray, which the pro said is perfect for both indoor plants, as well as those in your greenhouse.

You don’t need to buy a spray bottle for this either, simply reuse one – but make sure to give it a good clean first.

According to the pro, the clove bud oil is the perfect ingredient to add because it’s a natural insect repellent.

After sharing the trick, Instagram users were keen to try it out, as one commented on the clip: “I can’t wait to try this out.”

“I made this batch 18 months ago and it’s still working,” a second wrote.

And a third commented: “It actually seems to work! I was sceptical but only seen one fly that went out again in two days!”

MORE TICKS FOR HOUSEPLANTS

During these summer months, keeping your plants safe in direct sunlight is a must,

Luckily, Kelly Dyer, from Patch Plants, shared how there is a common mistake you should avoid when it comes to your indoor plants – and it may seem surprising.

She shared: “Don’t be tempted to mist plants if they are sitting in a spot that gets direct sunlight.

“The water will evaporate and lead to scorching.”

She also advised that you don’t use aircon, if possible, and to open your windows instead.

10 Unkillable plants

Home and garden experts at Nth Degree shared 10 (almost) unkillable plants that’ll transform your garden space.

Rosemary – It looks great, smells amazing and bees love it. Pop it in a sunny location and water it occasionally.

Nasturtiums – Colourful flowers that grow well in poor soil. Even better, they self-seed so return every year.

Thyme – Another edible plant that smells amazing and is tough as nails. It’s hardy so just needs dry soil and lots of sun.

Sedum – Adored by bees, the small, colourful succulents are drought-tolerant.

Ivy – A plant that loves to grow vertically, just make sure you cut it back to stop it growing out of control.

Lemon balm – Looks like mint but smells like lemon! It can be used in teas and baking.

Boxwood – An evergreen plant that thrives in shade and requires little water.

Miscanthus – Tall, airy and commonly known as elephant grass, it can grow up to six feet tall and hard to kill once established.

Lavender – The ultimate patio plant, it grows brilliantly in pots or containers, provides beautiful colour and fragrance, and loved by bees.

Hellebores – A winter-blooming flower that can withstand ice, wind and rain.

Chaipol’s Arrest: The Digital War Against Child Exploitation in Surin Province 2025

In a shocking revelation from Surin province, a 20-year-old Lao national has been apprehended for his involvement in creating and distributing online child sexual abuse material. This individual, known as Chaipol, allegedly governed secretive groups on a popular messaging platform, enticing users with explicit content of underage boys for a fee. His arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the fight against digital exploitation, highlighting a grim underground network that thrives in the shadowy corners of the internet. The crackdown unfolded on July 5 in the serene but now alarmed Mueang district, as officers from the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division (ATPD) moved swiftly to detain Chaipol. His list of alleged crimes is as disturbing as it is extensive: from the possession and dissemination of child pornography for profit to uploading obscene materials online and entering Thailand without legal documentation. The investigation gained momentum through the scrutiny of two suspicious accounts on…

Thai-U.S. Trade Talks: Pichai Chunhavajira’s Proposal to Avert Tariff Hike

In the frantic ballet of international trade negotiations, Thailand has rolled out its sleek proposal to the United States, hoping to tiptoe gracefully past a looming tariff hurdle. With the clock ticking towards a nail-biting July 9 deadline, Thai Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira confirmed the country’s most recent charm offensive to avoid a steep 36% levy on Thai imports by the U.S., a dramatic increase over the current cap of 10% that they’re temporarily enjoying. For Thailand, the stakes couldn’t be higher. The U.S. stands tall as Thailand’s premier export market, reigning supreme over 18.3% of their global shipments last year, a handsome bounty valued at nearly US$55 billion. However, this bilateral tango has Washington wincing at its trade deficit with Thailand, reported to be a whopping US$45.6 billion. That’s quite the imbalance, akin to a dance partner stepping two feet ahead. The central theme behind Pichai’s latest lyrical proposal?…

Bangkok Supermarket Fire: Scorching Drama in Vacharapol Sparks Safety Concerns

In the wee hours of July 7th, the serene streets of Bangkok’s Vacharapol suddenly came alive with the wailing sirens of fire engines. A blaze threatened the tranquility of a local supermarket nestled near the peaceful Sathira Dhammasathan. The fiery drama began much too early for a city that never sleeps, precisely at 4:50 AM. The source? A seemingly innocent fruit display refrigerator, now a scorched wreck that once kept tropical treats cool. Officers from the Bang Khen Police Station responded swiftly, with two fire trucks hot on their heels, aiming to conquer the unruly flames. This was not just a race against fire, but against time, with the smoke swirling in ghostly dances around the fire trucks that skidded to a halt in the supermarket’s parking lot. The storied building of this single-storey supermarket held its ground as firefighters, aptly armed, braved the dense smoke. Volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu…

Doctor Surachoke Tangwiwat’s Innovative Thai FDA Proposal: Elevating Water Standards and Promoting Sustainability

In a move set to transform the bottled water and ice industries, the Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is making waves with a groundbreaking proposal. The ambitious plan, spearheaded by Doctor Surachoke Tangwiwat, the esteemed Secretary General of the FDA, aims to elevate Thailand’s water quality standards to meet those found on the world stage. Such a transition promises to benefit not only manufacturers and consumers but also sow positive environmental change. The proposed regulations, which emerged during a recent high-level meeting, focus on clamping down on contaminants and refining label practices—wooing environmentally-conscious consumers. A particularly innovative feature of the proposal is the introduction of voluntary digital labels. Instead of the traditional ink printing, manufacturers could opt for embossing or engraving vital details like product name, trademark, registration number, and those crucial production or expiry dates—now wouldn’t that make a neat bottle? For the savvier among us, additional info…
