Casa Amor star Boris’s reality show past revealed as Love Islander boasts he ‘doesn’t believe in finding love on TV’

LOVE Island Casa Amor star Boris Vidović previously appeared on a Slovenian reality show, where he said he “doesn’t believe in finding love on TV”.

Model Boris, 28, who is currently attempting to turn heads in the ITV2 villa, was a contestant on Kmetija (The Farm) in 2024.

The series saw contestants live and work on a farm while competing for a cash prize.

At the time, Boris said he was taking part in the show for “a new experience” and hoped to use the prize money to travel to “exotic destinations”.

However, in an interview ahead of filming, he expressed doubt about romance on screen.

When asked about falling in love on reality TV, Boris told 24UR: “I don’t believe in it. I don’t even think about it.”

He also stated that he did not approve of nudity in front of the cameras.

During his appearance on Kmetija, Boris described himself as “communicative” and someone who “swears by positive energy and laughter”.

He had no prior experience working on a farm or caring for animals but said he was not concerned about the challenges.

But, following his Love Island debut, those familiar with his earlier TV stint rushed to a Reddit forum.

One wrote: “I actually watched him, he was super unlikable and in this interview before the show he says that he disapproves nudity in front of cameras + he doesn’t believe in love in a reality show. He also got a lot more new tattoos while in Dubai.”

Another added: “I’m embarrassed for my country, sorry guys! I heard he was bragging abot going on LI a while back and I said no waaaaay…

“Edit: I worked with him on a photoshoot once…not a thought behind those eyes.”

Boris, who lives in Ljubljana, previously said he was single at the time of filming Kmetija.

In his pre-villa interview for Love Island, he vowed: “I’m gonna have to be the bad guy! That’s the game.

“If I’m going in and there’s someone beautiful waiting for me inside, I’m going to approach them for sure.”

On who he’s got his sights set on, Boris added: “I’m super attracted to Shakira, I think she’s got a great personality and seems like a good girl.

“I’m sure we’d get along well and have a good time together, but I need to see in person, it’s all about energy.”

FAI request postponement of Oireachtas Committee hearing into alleged abuse in Irish women’s football

THE FAI has asked for their Oireachtas Committee hearing to be postponed for four weeks to give them adequate preparation time.

Abbotstown chiefs were invited to a meeting of the Joint Committee on Arts, Media, Communications, Culture and Sport to discuss safeguarding policies and procedures.

It follows last year’s RTE/Sunday Independent investigation into historical claims of abuse in the women’s game and a subsequent story that the FAI were slow to react.

The Gardai are currently investigating the allegations, though all those named in the RTE programme have denied wrongdoing.

Committee member Padraig O’Sullivan TD, speaking under Dail privilege, raised concerns about the FAI’s handling of it and requested the FAI be invited in.

But the Association has responded asking for more time to prepare materials given the ongoing Garda investigation.

A statement read: “The Association has requested that the date be deferred by a period of four weeks to enable adequate preparation time, given the complexity introduced by the Committee seeking material that relates directly to an ongoing Garda investigation.

“The Committee originally sought availability from the Association to discuss “Safeguarding Policies and Procedures within the FAI”.

“Of the two dates offered the FAI were only available for Wednesday the 9th July due to annual leave for key personnel on the alternative date (Wednesday the 16th July).

“When the formal invite was received on Friday 27th June (8 working days prior to the session) the Committee requested a broad range of documents, many that relate specifically to an ongoing Garda investigation.

“Given the complexities involved in collating and considering our ability to comply with this request and to enable adequate preparation time we have sought a deferral of four weeks.

“Any disclosure must also be assessed carefully for legal and GDPR compliance given the sensitive and confidential nature of safeguarding information requested.

“Over the intervening period we will continue to liaise with the Committee to ensure the scope of the session is clearly defined to ensure that no parties could inadvertently compromise an ongoing investigation.

“We fully respect the important work of the Joint Committee and acknowledge the critical oversight role it plays in relation to legislation, policy, governance, expenditure and administration of the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport.

“The FAI is fully committed to engaging constructively with the Committee on this matter and we look forward to them defining a revised date where this session can proceed.”

‘Death date’ of universe revealed as scientists predict when ‘shrinking’ will start before ‘Big Crunch’ wipes us all out

THE universe will start to shrink in just 7billion years, a new study has claimed, upending the prediction that space is ever-expanding.

The study, published by physicists from Cornell University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and other institutions, suggests that the universe will reach a peak size.

The researchers’ theory hinges on dark energy, a mysterious force that makes up about 70 per cent of the known universe[/caption]

After that point, the universe will begin contracting until everything collapses back into a single point.

A reverse Big Bang of sorts, which scientists have dubbed the “Big Crunch”.

Using data from a number of astronomical surveys including the Dark Energy Survey and the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument, the researchers predict that this “Big Crunch” will occur in approximately 33.3billion years.

With the universe currently 13.8billion years old, this gives Earth and everything else roughly 20billion years before entering oblivion, according to the study.

The theory is that the universe expands like a “rubber band” – eventually, the elastic force becomes stronger than the expansion, causing everything to snap back together.

The researchers’ theory hinges on dark energy, a mysterious force that makes up about 70 per cent of the known universe.

Dark energy has long been believed to be the driving force behind the expansion of the universe.

However, recent observations suggest the force might actually be dynamic – meaning it can only expand so much until it shrinks again.

The new model proposed by researchers suggests the universe will continue expanding but at a gradually slowing rate.

At its maximum size, about 69 per cent larger than the size it is today, a gradual contraction will begin.

Several major astronomical projects launching in the coming years aim to provide more information on the behaviour of dark energy.

These missions could confirm or rule out a “Big Crunch” scenario.

Even if the terrifying outcome is confirmed, a 20billion year countdown is hardly a reason to panic.

For context, complex life on Earth has existed for only about 600million years – a fraction of time in comparison.

20billion years down the line, the Sun will have died and our galaxy will have collided with the neighbouring Andromeda galaxy long before ‘the great end’.

The prediction also comes with a significant level of uncertainty.

The researchers have acknowledged that their model has large margins of error due to limited observational data.

So, alternative scenarios – including eternal expansion – are still possible.

‘Young kids missing out’ as Irish playground forced to close after fire ‘deliberately’ sparked by vandals amid probe

LOCALS in Cork have been left furious after an Irish playground was forced to close down following a “deliberately” sparked fire in the area.

Carrigtwohill Community Council confirmed the play area was “extensively” damaged in the blaze and kids must now be kept away from the area during the height of summer holidays.

Local firefighters and Gardai rushed to the scene when the alarms were raised.

The firefighters managed to prevent “much more significant damage”, but the playground was still harmed in the blaze.

Due to the heartbreaking incident, the playground was forced to close for repairs, which will “take time” and significant funds to rectify, providing a major blow to local families.

Carrigtwohill Community Council said: “It was with a profound sense of disappointment that I learned of the fire that was started today in our Community Playground.

Any vandalism of community amenities shows a lack respect not only for the charity and individual volunteers responsible for their maintenance, but also for the wider community who benefit greatly from their use.

The damage caused today has been extensive and, as has been noted by others, it will take time and significant funds to rectify.

What is worse, however, is that local families and their young children will be deprived of a source of fun and play during the height of summer.

They revealed that they are currently cooperating with the cops and analysing the CCTV footage in order to hold those responsible to account for the fire incident.

The council pleaded with locals to come forward to the Gardai or the council with information that may be useful to assist the investigation.

They added: “Thankfully, amongst the vast majority of Carrigtwohill residents, community spirit is strong. We will repair. We will rebuild.

“And we will reopen the playground as soon as is possible, for the responsible enjoyment of all.”

Liam Quaide, Social Democrats TD for Cork East, said: “Shocked and saddened to see what appears to be extensive fire-damage to Carrigtwohill playground this evening.

“This is a vital amenity for families in East Cork. Important that it is restored for use as soon as possible and that the incident is thoroughly investigated.”

Fianna Fail Cllr Dominic Finn added: “This is terrible news for the community. So sorry to hear that this has happened.”

‘SO DISAPPOINTING’

The locals were left heartbroken after hearing the news of their beloved playground being tarnished and closed off from the public during the summer season.

One local said: “So saddened that such a beautiful facility has been put out of service. Young kids missing out as the result of the actions of vandals.

“Hope those responsible are caught and held accountable.”

Another person added: “So disappointing.”

The third person said: “Disgraceful behaviour, the time and effort that went into fundraising for the playground. Kids off school for the summer holidays and now they can’t use it. Hope they are caught.”

Another local said: “So so sorry to see what happened. Let’s hope they are caught and soon! So much time and effort goes into these facilities for the community.”

The popular quiz show will experience disruption to its regular schedule to make way for coverage of the UEFA Women’s Euros.

Hosted by Bradley Walsh, the ITV show usually airs at 5pm on ITV One every weekday, with a celebrity special on every Saturday.

However, on Monday, July 7, the show will now be shown at its usual time slot.

Disruptions due to sporting events

This is because of the Spain vs Belgium game, with coverage for the 5 pm kick-off match starting at 4:15.

Instead, a second celebrity special will be broadcast at 5:30pm on Sunday, July 12.

The Chase will return to its 5pm time slot on Tuesday, July 8.

Last month, The Chase was taken off air to make way for coverage of Royal Ascot.

The quiz show was cancelled for the entire week to make way for the horse racing event.

Soaps also affected by TV shake-up

Soap fans will be disappointed to hear that both Coronation Street and Emmerdale will be affected by schedule changes this week.

Coronation Street is usually on TV on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 8pm to 9pm.

However, there will be no episodes on Monday and Wednesday this week, to make way for the women’s Euros.

Instead an episode will air at 9pm on Thursday, with Friday’s episode on air as normal.

Emmerdale will also not be airing on Monday or Wednesday, to make way for the Portugal vs Italy and France vs Wales games.

EastEnders fans have also had to deal with schedule shakeups recently, with the BBC soap off air for eight days, from July 1 to July 9.

This is due to coverage of Wimbledon.
