AMAZON Prime users have been issued a “red alert” scam warning – here are FIVE signs to watch out for.
The industry giant has urged shoppers to “be vigilant” as a spate of fraudulent emails sweep the UK.
GettyThe safest way to check your Amazon Prime account is through the website Amazon.co.uk directly[/caption]
Cybercriminals are sending fake messages claiming to be about Amazon Prime membership subscriptions.
But, they’re actually scams intended to access sensitive information and financial details.
An Amazon spokesperson warned customers: “We’ve recently noticed an increase in customers reporting fake emails about Amazon Prime membership subscriptions.
The online retailed added: “We want to help you stay protected by sharing important information about these scams.”
A popular scam email circulating tells shoppers the cost of their Prime subscription has increased.
Users are given the option to click on a “cancel” button, but this is how the fraudsters are able to hack into your personal information.
Amazon warned: “Do not click on any links in these messages.”
If customers are unsure, the safest way to check their Amazon Prime account is through the website Amazon.co.uk directly – or through the verified app.
Click on the Prime option from the main menu to review any renewal dates or plan prices.
Additionally, there’s a Message Centre in the Your Account section that keeps all of your Amazon notifications.
And, if you do fear you’ve been targeted by scammers, it’s wise to keep any eye on any bank transactions.
Contact your bank immediately if you notice anything suspicious.
This comes as new research conducted by McAfee shows the users most at risk and how to stay safe online as scams become increasingly difficult to spot.
According to Abhishek Karnik, the Head of Threat Research at McAfee: “As inflation and tariffs push more people to hunt for deals, scammers are using generative AI to craft scams that are more polished, personal, and persuasive.
“From retailer impersonations to hyper-realistic delivery scams, these threats are getting harder to spot.”
In light of this new growing threat, the cyber security company has shared five red flags to watch out for to help users stay safe online:
Urgent language demanding immediate action (“Your account will be closed in 24 hours!”).
Requests for payment via gift cards, wire transfers or cash.
Claims that you need to “verify” or “legalise” your money.
Transfers to “goverment agencies” during the same call.
Pressure to keep the call secret or not hang up.
McAfee also emphasised that Amazon will never call you about suspicious account activity or unauthorised purchases.
Further advice includes, using Amazon’s Message Centre, and never giving personal information, passwords, or payment details over the phone.
Mr Karnik added: “The good news is that the tools to fight back are getting smarter too.
“The best way to stay safe is to pause before you click, trust your instincts, and use AI-powered protection like McAfee’s Scam Detector to stay one step ahead.”
On how to protect your shopping experience, McAfee advised that you enable two-factor authentication on your Amazon account, use strong and unique passwords, and only shop on secure websites.
It also suggests you monitor your bank and credit card statements regularly, never click on suspicious emails, and, most importantly, trust your gut.
McAfee identified older adults as particularly at risk, while platforms like TikTok shop and Instagram Shopping are fast becoming hot spots for scam exposure.
How to protect yourself from fraud
USE the following tips to protect yourself from fraudsters.
Keep your social media accounts private – Think twice before you your share details – in particular your full date of birth, address and contacts details – all of this information can be useful to fraudsters.
Deactivate and delete old social media profiles – Keep track of your digital footprint. If a profile was created 10 years ago, there may be personal information currently available for a fraudster to use that you’re are not aware of or you have forgotten about.
Password protect your devices– Keep passwords complex by picking three random words, such as roverducklemon and add or split them with symbols, numbers and capitals.
Install anti-virus software on your laptop and personal devices and keep it up to date – This will make it harder for fraudsters to access your data in the first place.
Take care on public Wi-Fi– Fraudsters can hack or mimic them. If you’re using one, avoid accessing sensitive apps, such as mobile banking.
Think about your offline information too – Always redirect your post when you move home and make sure your letter or mailbox is secure.

MUMS are rushing online after spotting a massive ‘glitch’ on the Asda George site and they’re snapping up kids’ clothes for as little as £2.
Savvy shoppers have flooded social media to share their hauls, revealing they’ve saved a fortune on summer bits for their little ones just in time for the school holidays.
GettyParents are racing to Asda to snap up kids clothes on the cheap[/caption]
Savvy shoppers shared their savings online
One excited mum took to Facebook to post about the hidden savings, writing: “Insane bargains at Asda George!
“Had all these sleepsuits in my basket on sale at £6 each. Went to re-look at the sale and all but one had gone down to £3.
“Listed low to high and everything shows in its original sale price so must be a glitch.”
And other parents were all over it.
One claimed they were already stocking up for their newborn, she said: “Thank you, I got some bargains for my baby due in August.”
Another raved: “Saved over £50 for my son’s holiday stuff, love it!”
A third added: “Placed an order and managed to get a few bits, thanks.”
Another mum said she bagged a 5-pack of shorts for just £2, which she called “perfect for little ones on summer holiday”.
And the best part is the mega deals are available online but you’ll have to be quick, as stock is flying out.
Delivery fees vary depending on your chosen slot, with standard delivery starting from £2.95 and named day or next day options from £4.50.
The buzz comes just weeks after Asda launched its first-ever stand-alone George store in Leeds, which could be rolled out nationwide if it proves a hit.
The new store, which opened on Saturday, May 10, in the old Asda Living unit at Crown Point Retail Park, is a dream come true for George fans.
It’s packed with affordable fashion, stylish homeware, must-have toys, and adorable baby gear, plus a brand new café to keep you fuelled mid-shop.
There are currently 30 Asda Living stores in the UK, but the supermarket giant is testing the waters with this new George-only concept.
Bosses are expected to make a decision later this year on whether more will launch across the country.
The George brand, first launched in 1989 by fashion guru George Davies, changed the game as the UK’s first supermarket clothing label.
Savvy shopper Eilish Stout-Cairns recommends that shoppers grab items from Asda’s Just Essentials range.
She said: “Asda’s budget range is easy to spot as it’s bright yellow! Keep your eyes peeled for yellow and you’ll find their Just Essentials range.
“It’s great value and I’ve found it has a much wider selection of budget items compared to other supermarkets.
Sign up to Asda Rewards
The savvy-saver also presses on the importance of signing up to Asda’s reward scheme.
She said: “Asda Rewards is free to join and if you shop at Asda you should absolutely sign up.
“As an Asda Rewards member, you’ll get exclusive discounts and offers, and you’ll also be able to earn 10% cashback on Star Products.
“This will go straight into your cashpot, and once you’ve earned at least £1, you can transfer the money in your cashpot into ASDA vouchers.
We’ve previously rounded up the best supermarket loyalty schemes – including the ones that will save you the most money.
Look out for booze deals
Eilish always suggests that shoppers looking to buy booze look out for bargain deals.
She said: “Asda often has an alcohol offer on: buy six bottles and save 25%.
“The offer includes selected bottles with red, white and rose options, as well as prosecco. There are usually lots of popular bottles included, for example, Oyster Bay Hawkes Bay Merlot, Oyster Bay Hawkes Bay Merlot and Freixenet Prosecco D.O.C.
“Obviously, the more expensive the bottles you choose, the more you save.”
Join Facebook groups
The savvy saver also recommends that fans of Asda join Facebook groups to keep in the know about the latest bargains in-store.
Eilish said: “I recommend joining the Latest Deals Facebook Group to find out about the latest deals and new launches in store.
“Every day, more than 250,000 deal hunters share their latest bargain finds and new releases.
“For example, recently a member shared a picture of Asda’s new Barbie range spotted in store.
“Another member shared the bargain outdoor plants she picked up, including roses for 47p, blackcurrant bushes for 14p and topiary trees for 14p.”

SplashMolly shares Bambi with her partner Tommy Fury[/caption]
In her latest vlog on her popular YouTube channel, Molly addressed how she can find it tough sometimes when she is looking after her daughter on her own.
She explained that this was in contrast to how Tommy handles parenting.
“He (Tommy) can literally have Bambi all day to himself, he doesn’t get one bit stressed, one bit agitated, doesn’t get frustrated,” Molly told fans.
“And then me, it’s like, I try so hard to stay calm and collected, but I had a life coach session about it the other day and I got like really emotional.
“I’ve actually never cried in one of my sessions with Jacqueline, but when it was about Bambi, like, I just like broke down because I think it’s been like a massive build up at the minute of, I know, to be honest with you, it’s not something that I would like to talk about on here.”
Continuing, the former Love Island star said: “And I’m very aware that sometimes I think my vlogs are just so up and down, but I think like my feelings towards motherhood are actually very much impacted by like other things that have gone on like in my life, like just stuff that couldn’t be helped.
“You know, I just, I think like everything, there’s been like so many things that when I actually really think about it and when I actually get very deep, I do think that.”
“We broke up because I had a problem with alcohol and I couldn’t be the partner that I wanted to be anymore,” he said.
“It kills me to say it, but I couldn’t. I loved a pint of beer, loved to drink.”
SplashTommy and Molly are keen to put on a united front after getting back together[/caption]
Molly later sobbed as she recalled pleading with the boxer to ditch the alcohol during her sister Zoe’s big day in July.
In heartbreaking scenes in her warts-and-all Prime Video documentary, she said: “At my sister’s wedding I literally begged him, I pleaded with him to not drink.
“And … it’s just really sad … I don’t know why I’m crying now. It’s just so sad. It just affected me.”
However the pair managed to work past their problems and have since reconciled.
After five years together, Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury split up in August 2024.
At around 4pm on Wednesday, August 14, Molly-Mae and Tommy suffer an explosive showdown and Molly-Mae announces her split from fiancé Tommy Fury, saying ‘ I never imagined our story would end, especially not this way’.
An hour later Tommy shares a separate and brief statement confirming they have parted ways, and thanks Molly-Mae for making him ‘a dad’.
The real reason they split emerges and on Thursday, August 15 The Sun reveals how Molly-Mae learned Tommy had cheated on her – leading to an explosive showdown.
On Saturday, August 17, The Sun reveals how Molly-Mae had been sent an upsetting video showing Tommy kissing a girl in a nightclub in North Macedonia on a lads holiday.
Exactly one week after the split a Danish woman accused of getting close to Tommy speaks to The Sun. On Wednesday, August 21, she denies she is the girl who kissed Tommy.

Toni has not been getting on with MegErotemeFans were aware that things were far from easy between Toni and MegEroteme
Joking that his time was “short and sweet” after none of the girls recoupled with him, Ryan was then flown back to the UK.
However, after returning home, Ryan has been spilling secrets from inside the villa – including Meg Moore and Tori Laites not getting on.
One fan asked: “Were Megan and Toni good friends when you were in the villa or is it the same as on TV?”
He responded: “Truthfully didn’t see them speak one word to each other” alongside a laughing emoji.
Ryan’s confirmation that the girls don’t get on comes after Meg’s behaviour was just one incident reported to Ofcom.
The 1,138 objections were related to episodes broadcast on 26, 27 and 29 June, with the behaviour of Meg, as well as islanders Ben Holbrough and Helena Ford noted.
Things are set to get even more tense in the villa this week with the introduction of the Casa Amor boys – six new men all fighting for their place in the main house.
The annual twist will test the strength of the relationships of those in the villa so far, with couples being asked to stick with their current partner or twist and bring in someone new.
With tensions already running high in the villa, it could prove chaos for everyone involved.
Speaking to him after they reunited, Emma shared her thoughts on his blossoming romance with Helena, saying they “deserved each other” before branding them “snakes”.
