The event can be exciting for shoppers, but it is important not to get carried away and make impulse purchases which aren’t good value.

She said: “While searching on Amazon, you’re likely to come across products from random, unrecognisable brands.

“These products often undercut key players on price, but without brand reputation, you risk sacrificing quality and durability.”

‘Secret’ daughter of rockstar tattooist battles widow over his fortune – and claims her inkings prove she deserves cash

THE “secret” daughter of a rockstar tattooist is battling his widow for his £400,000 fortune – and claims her inkings prove she deserves the cash.

Dennis Cockell tattooed stars including Paula Yates, Adam Ant, and members of The Sex Pistols, Stray Cats and Bananarama from his Diamond Jacks studio in Soho in the 1980s.

His widow Fong Yuet Cockell (right) and daughter Natalie (left) are battling Dennis’ ‘secret’ daughter[/caption]

After retiring in 2007, he took up a career as a handyman at Buckingham Palace but continued to make guest appearances at the London studio up until his death in 2022 at the age of 74.

His £413,000 estate is now at the centre of a High Court battle between his wife Fong Yuet Cockell, 65, and Cindylee Cockell – his Australian daughter.

Fong – the mother of five of Dennis’ children – only discovered Cindylee’s existence following his death.

Cindylee claims she needs a payout because the “overwhelming grief” of his death.

She is also claiming that coupled with the death of her mum shortly afterwards has rendered her so depressed and anxious she is unable to work.

Cindylee is suing her dad’s widow, who inherited all of Dennis’ wealth, and her half-sister Natalie Fong Cockell, who is executor of his estate.

She is seeking £42,200 plus a valuable sheet of her dad’s tattoo flash, which is worth thousands.

Cindylee told the court her dad promised to move her from Australia to London and support her financially prior to his death.

She said she was two years old when she discovered the truth and visited Dennis in London from her native Australia four times before he died.

Cindylee also claims the pair made plans about her moving to the UK and working for him as a £23,000-a-year receptionist at one his studios once her three children had finished school.

Denying the widow’s claims that Cindylee was not close to her dad, she told the judge the tattoos her dad gave her proved their bond.

She told the court: “I have all the evidence of our relationship. My dad did my arms on every visit to London. That’s evidence.

“I do understand why the family wants to deny my existence. Dad had many secrets and it seems I was the biggest one of all.

“That said, it doesn’t change the fact that I’m his first born and a rightful and legal heir to dad’s estate like everybody else. I deserve to be treated as such.

“Dad was always very supportive of me and was supporting my move to London.

“I believe I have been very accommodating. I was fair and reasonable in asking for less than an equal share of dad’s estate and it’s a shame we had to end up in court.

“Had the defendants chosen to communicate and negotiate with me in a fair and respectful manner, there would have been no need for anybody to spend legal costs in the first place.”

The court heard that Cindylee worked as a nanny and PA but is now on “Australian Jobseekers Allowance”.

She was signed off by her doctor as incapable of working for “years” due to severe “anxiety and depression” caused by her parents’ deaths, it was said.

She told the judge she needs the money to rent a house, buy a car and pay her son back money that she borrowed to pay solicitors’ bills.

But Dennis’ widow has argued she may be forced to sell her home if she is ordered to make the payout Cindylee wants.

Her lawyer Nicholas Michael said: “The deceased had no obligations and responsibilities towards Cindylee, but was married to Fong and she depended on the deceased financially and emotionally.

“Cindylee was estranged from the deceased until she was eight. After that she only met him on a few sporadic occasions and she has never been financially dependent on the deceased.

“The claim should be dismissed.”

The judge has reserved his decision for a later date.

‘Get her OUT’ rant fuming Love Island fans as they brand star ‘disgusting’ for explosive clash

LOVE Island fans have demanded Meg is the next person to be axed from the show as they brand her “disgusting”.

During last night’s sizzling game of Raunchy Races, both villas played identical games, with the fastest villa winning a lavish party.

A text came through instructing the boy with the most tattoos to snog the girl he thinks is relationship material.

Questioning which guy would be taking part in the challenge for Casa Amor, Meg asked: “Who’s got the most tattoos, D?”

But tempers flared when Shakira makes a tongue in cheek comment.

Alluding to Meg’s reactions, Shakira told the new boys: “Trust me you don’t want to see when D comes back off a date… Scary.”

Things got heated as Meg responded: “No it’s not… I’m not laughing, Shakira.”

But Shakira fired back: “Aww, grow up Meg.”

ITV2 viewers have begged bosses to dump Meg next as they continue to brand her as a “mean girl”.

One said: “I think Meg deserved the comment and got a taste of it pushed onto her. She’s been horrid all season. she reminds me of the type of girl that would get mad at the girl her boyfriend cheated with rather than her actual boyfriend, even if the girl was unaware.”

A second posted: “Meg has been floating on the idea that she thinks she is an ‘IT girl’. Nope, she’s just a mean girl.”

A third pointed out: “Meg has laughed at others expense when they’re getting mugged, i hope Dejon honestly recouples and she’s placed into the same situation she laughed at others for. I don’t see how anyone can view Shakira’s statement as too much after seeing how Meg reacts and treated her so far, and any girl Dejon talks too.”

This viewer said: “Meg despises Shakira. I’ve said that from the moment Shakira told her she dresses up as a princess on day one lol. It’s always been there. Now it’s festered and she doesn’t care how she treats her. I think her reaction while still annoyed, would’ve been less catty if it were any other girl. But bc it’s Shakira, and Meg and Helena have been laughing behind her back and in her face since day one, it hits a little more to Meg’s ego.”

Another added: “Meg and Helena are coming across as horrible people. I really hope they get a reality check soon.

“Also Shakira did it to her face! Meg has never once said any of the stuff she’s said behind Shakira’s back to her face, just pretending to hug everyone when they’re sad so she can chat shit about them behind closed doors. So bitchy and so vile.”

Elsewhere, the game saw the oldest boy snog the oldest girl.

Harry and Emma, both 30, then jumped out of their seats to snog.

Snogging for quite some time, the exes locked lips in a sultry smooch.

After it was revealed to each villa that Harry and Emma were the fasted to snog out of the Casa Amor villa and the main villa, Helena was furious.

“F**k you, Emma,” she shouted while flashing a middle finger.

Meg joined in and the two women were chanting “f**k you, Emma” over and over again.

Smash-hit Call of Duty game pulled offline for millions after shock X-rated pop-ups that cause your machine to crash

GAMERS were left red-faced after a popular Call Of Duty title was reportedly hit by a hack causing porn to bombard people’s screens.

Players of Call Of Duty: WWII claim a number of strange and embarrassing glitches have flashed up on the Xbox PC version.

Call of Duty: WWII has is one of the more popular titles in the franchise[/caption]

This includes gay pornography, insulting messages popping up in the notepad app and loading malware on their machine, according to PCGamer.

“I JUST GOT HACKED PLAYING WW2! EVERYONE DO NOT PLAY WW2 ON GAMEPASS!” one user wrote on X.

“Someone is trolling gamers with Notepad pop ups, PC shutdowns, and gay pornography,” another claimed.

Ethical hacker group VX-Underground also noticed that affected PCs have had their background bizarrely changed to “show a prominent lawyer who Activision hired to prosecute video game cheaters”.

Call of Duty publisher Activision has taken the game offline but not confirmed whether it’s related to alleged hacks.

The Sun approached Activision for comment and was referred a company post on X.

“Call of Duty: WWII on PC Microsoft Store was brought offline while we investigate reports of an issue,” the firm tweeted.

Fortunately, it appears that hackers are more interested in messing with people than trying to steal bank details.

“The concern in this particular case is that this means an attacker is capable of deploying information stealer malware, a RAT (remote administration tool), or ransomware,” VX-Underground added.

“Thankfully, it appears this attacker is primarily interested in memeing and f**ing with people.”

Call Of Duty: WWII was released back in November 2017 and a commercial success, netting $500million / £368million in revenue within three days of launching.

The issue comes just days after Activision Blizzard owner Microsoft announced huge job cuts.

Some 1,900 people working for Activision and Xbox have been laid off, around 8 percent of the Microsoft’s gaming division overall.

Mike Ybarra, who has served as Blizzard’s president since 2022, has also decided to leave over the move.

Across all of Microsoft, more than 9,000 jobs have been cut globally.

Call of Duty cheating – what will get you banned?

Here's what you need to know...

  • There are plenty of ways to cheat on Call of Duty
  • Perhaps the most common hack is an aimbot – a piece of software that aims and targets enemies automatically for you
  • Activision also explicitly forbids the use of wallhacks, which modifies the properties of walls
  • For instance, wallhacking software could allow you to see enemies through walls
  • Typically using glitches to escape outside the normal bounds of the map is also considered to be cheating
  • Generally it’s a case of using common sense: don’t do anything that gives you an advantage that wouldn’t have been intended by developers
  • Also, cheating on a sophisticated game like Call of Duty can be difficult – so if you’re cheating, it’s unlikely to have been an accident

The 5 common factors ‘behind surge in early-onset bowel cancer’ revealed

FIVE key causes of bowel cancer in young people have been flagged by scientists.

A paper published by Oxford University Press looked at the surge of young gastrointestinal cancers, which includes the stomach, liver, pancreas, intestine, colon and anus

Bowel cancer is increasingly diagnosed in under-50s and experts are blaming the modern lifestyle[/caption] Illustration of bowel cancer red flags.

The authors, led by the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, gave a review of what could be behind the trend, noting that it is not yet clear.

In Europe, the worst increase is among people in their 20s, with a 7.9 per cent increase over 12 years, according to a study of 20 nations.

An 185 per cent jump has been reported in Americans aged 20 to 24 years by the Centers for Disease Control.

Early-onset bowel cancer has become the leading cause of cancer-related death for men under 50 and the second-leading cause for women under 50 in the US.

But younger people are facing delays in diagnosis as cancer is often not suspected until later.

In the UK, bowel cancer cases are still the highest in people aged 85 to 89, and three cases a year are diagnosed in under-30s, according to Cancer Research UK.

But its stats show that one in every 20 bowel cancer cases occurs under the age of 50.

A major review published in The Lancet Oncology found that England experienced a 3.6 per cent per year rise in the rate of early-onset bowel cancer in the decade to 2017.

It was the fourth fastest rise recorded, compared to four per cent per year in New Zealand and Chile, and 3.8 per cent in Puerto Rico.

The researchers said associated risk factors include obesity, a Western-style diet, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, smoking, and alcohol.

Alcohol consumption shows up to a 71 per cent higher risk, one review of research showed. Smoking also was, but at a lesser rate (35 per cent).

Due to various studies being used, the researchers did not clarify how much alcohol becomes risky, but the NHS suggest a ‘safe’ limit of 14 units per week. Some studies compared people who drink alcohol to people who never do.

Meanwhile, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, when there is a build-up of fat in the liver, already has a number of well-known risks. One in five young adults show signs of it, according to research carried out by the University of Bristol last year.

Obesity – as well as obesity in adolescence and maternal obesity – has been shown to increase early-onset bowel cancer risk.

It was defined by the authors as a BMI over 30.

In a 2019 study of 85,000 women in the US, those with a BMI over 30 had close to double the risk of developing early-onset colorectal cancer compared to women with lower BMIs.

Some features of a Western diet – including sugary drinks and sedentary behaviour – have been linked with an increased risk of early-onset bowel cancer, the authors noted.

One study spanning 10 years, of 95,000 women, revealed that women who drank more than two sugary drinks each day had a 2.2-fold higher risk of early bowel cancer.

Being sedentary – and not exercising – could be upping your cancer risk[/caption]

A study last year of 86,000 British people found going for two walks a day reduced the risk of bowel cancer by 11 per cent compared to being inactive.

Other than lifestyle factors that can be changed, the authors said “most cases occur sporadically”.

“The incidence of GI cancers in adults younger than age 50 is rising globally,” said the paper’s lead author, Prof Sara Char, of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston.

“Ongoing research efforts investigating the biology of early-onset GI cancers are critical to developing more effective screening, prevention, and treatment strategies.”

Sun writer Dame Deborah James raised awareness of disease in young people via The Sun’s No Time 2 Lose campaign before her death from bowel cancer aged 40 in 2022.

The NHS sends at-home sampling kits to everyone aged 54 to 74 every two years.

These look for blood in your poo, which could be a sign of bowel cancer.

What are the symptoms to look for? Remember 'BOWEL'

BOWEL cancer symptoms can be remembered with a simple acronym.

It’s not easy to remember the key signs, but you can bring them to mind with the word ‘BOWEL’.

B: Bleeding

O: Obvious change in loo habits

W: Weight loss

E: Extreme tiredness

L: Lump or pain

Major social welfare & €140 Child Benefit cash shake-up for thousands of Irish in WEEKS as pay dates switch

SOCIAL welfare recipients are being warned of a major change to their payment date – and it will hit in just weeks.

Thousands of Irish will be impacted by the shake-up and those expecting a €280 once-off payment in August will receive the payment alongside their Child Benefit a bit earlier.

The change comes ahead of the August Bank Holiday, which is just four weeks away.

August 1 is a Friday this year with the Bank Holiday Monday landing on August 4.

Post offices around the country will close on this Monday, meaning social welfare payments will not be available as usual on that day.

Instead it is expected the payments will hit accounts on August 1 or 2.

Payments will then return to normal on Tuesday August 5.

However, the €140 Child Benefit payment that is usually paid out on the first Tuesday of the month, will also be impacted.

Recipients will also receive their Child Benefit early on August 1 or 2.

This in turn will impact the Newborn Baby Grant that is paid out alongside the Child Benefit sum.

Anyone due to receive the €280 on Tuesday August 5 will also receive the payment earlier over the weekend.

The next bank holiday in Ireland will fall on October 27, and will also impact social welfare payments due on that day.

After that the next bank holiday in Ireland is not until Christmas Day.

Christmas Day falls on a Thursday this year and St Stephen’s Day on the Friday is also a bank holiday.

We will then push into the 2026 bank holidays with New Year’s Eve on the Wednesday and New Year’s Day on the Thursday.

The next bank holiday then falls in February, the new addition landing on Monday February 2, 2025.

SCHOOL CASH

And as the children enjoy their endless days off for the summer parents are being reminded of a cash scheme they can apply for to help with back to school costs.

The Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance opened for applications last month and the first rounds of payments should be landing in accounts next week.

Children must be aged between four and 17 on September 30 to qualify for the scheme.

But alternatively if they’re aged 18 to 22, they must be returning to full-time second-level education in a recognised school or college in the autumn.

This year, the scheme opens for applications from June 20 right up to September 30.

And it sees parents get a one-off €160 or €285 payment to help pay for school uniforms and footwear for their children.

Major car brand ‘under immense pressure’ as drivers warned it could take a YEAR to fix their motors after urgent recall

DRIVERS have been warned it could take a year to fix their motor after a major car brand issued an urgent recall last month.

The recall was issued on June 20 and hit some 120,000 owners across the country.

Citroen issued a rare ‘stop drive’ notice in June[/caption]

Thousands of motorists were told their car’s airbags were found to be faulty.

Citroen DS3 and C3 models were recalled over a potentially deadly threat posed by the faulty air bags.

Now the French motor maker is warning that it could be next year before all the cars affected by the recall are fixed.

Citroen DS3 models built between 2009 and 2019 and CS3 models built between 2009 and 2016 were affected by the recall.

Motorists are now flooding dealers with calls for help repairing their motor’s dodgy airbags.

Manufacturer Stellantis has instructed motorists not to drive the recalled motors.

Thousands of customers are now flooding phone lines with requests for help.

The fix reportedly takes about an hour and a half with Citroen workshops already booking up fast.

Some dealers are able to offer the service in just a few days time while others are taking longer.

Some are reportedly not able to offer the service until 2026 leaving customers without a car for months.

Manufacturer Stellantis issued a rare “stop drive” action at the end of June.

The firm said it is mobilising a team of dealers, suppliers and manufacturing plants to deal with the airbag issue.

Faulty airbags used in the recalled motors were also used by a variety of manufacturers.

The affected cars were already part of a recall started more than a year ago.

With a woman tragically dying in France last month after sustaining injuries from an airbag in a 2014 Citroen C3 the manufacturer issued the urgent recall notice.

Motorists are encouraged to check if their car is affected on the Citroen website.

The Sun has contacted Stellantis for comment.

Your product recall rights

Chief consumer reporter James Flanders reveals all you need to know.

Product recalls are an important means of protecting consumers from dangerous goods.

As a general rule, if a recall involves a branded product, the manufacturer would usually have lead responsibility for the recall action.

But it’s often left up to supermarkets to notify customers when products could put them at risk.

If you are concerned about the safety of a product you own, always check the manufacturer’s website to see if a safety notice has been issued.

When it comes to appliances, rather than just food items, the onus is usually on you – the customer – to register the appliance with the manufacturer as if you don’t there is no way of contacting you to tell you about a fault.

If you become aware that an item you own has been recalled or has any safety noticed issued against it, make sure you follow the instructions given to you by the manufacturer.

They should usually provide you with more information and a contact number on its safety notice.

In some cases, the manufacturer might ask you to return the item for a full refund or arrange for the faulty product to be collected.

You should not be charged for any recall work – such as a repair, replacement or collection of the recalled item
