A US rock star has dropped out of his band’s gigs for the rest of the year to undergo career-saving surgery.
Fall Out Boy guitarist and founding member Joe Trohman, 40, revealed he is stepping back from touring in a bid to prevent permanent damage to his hand.

He wrote on Instagram, “After years of managing ongoing issues with my right hand, it’s become clear that I need surgery to avoid permanent damage.
“Unfortunately, this means I’ll have to take the rest of the year off from playing with the band.
“The silver lining is that I’m on track for a full recovery. The band will still be playing all scheduled shows.
“I’m looking forward to recovering so I can get back out there with the guys. Thanks so much for the love and support.”
The band is playing in Calgary, Canada tonight and have festival dates in Japan and Brazil over the summer.
Fans sent their well wishes, with one writing, “It’s okay Joe, we love you and I hope everything goes well, take all the time you need.”
Another said, “I just fell to my knees in Walmart. Wishing you luck Joe.”
In 2023, Trohman took several months off the road to focus on his mental health. His guitar tech Ben Young stepped in on that occasion.
Speaking at the time, Trohman said, “Neil Young once howled that it’s better to burn out than to fade away. But I can tell you unequivocally that burning out is dreadful. Without divulging all the details, I must disclose that my mental health has rapidly deteriorated over the past several years.
“So, to avoid fading away and never returning, I will be taking a break from work which regrettably includes stepping away from Fall Out Boy for a spell. It pains me to make this decision, especially when we are releasing a new album that fills me with great pride (the sin I’m most proud of).”
The guitarist spoke of his “severe” mental health issues in his 2022 memoir, None of This Rocks.
Trohman has been in and out of therapy since the age of 10 and said he often sees things “through dark-tinted lenses a little bit”.
Fall Out Boy achieved underground success in 2003 after they released their debut album, Take This to Your Grave.
They skyrocketed to worldwide fame in 2005 after the release of the album From Under the Cork Tree, with its lead single Sugar We’re Goin’ Down reaching number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
In 2006, the band was nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards.
A year later, their third album, Infinity On High, topped the Billboard 200.
The band went on an indefinite hiatus in 2009, citing exhaustion as the key reason.
“We were being pushed too hard, we were working too often, and I think we had no grounding. There was no, ‘This is where I live, this is my family, this is my house, here’s where I get mental health assistance, I take my medication this many times a day,'” Trohman shared in an interview with Kerrang.
“None of that stuff was happening, it was all just go go go, different places, different things, if you have to succeed you’ve gotta do this.
“And it got to a point where — I can only speak for myself here — but I thought, ‘I think we’ve succeeded… can we stop for a minute? I need to go to my house.'”
They reunited in 2013 with the release of the album Save Rock and Roll.

LIVERPOOL footballer Diogo Jota is thought to have been driving when he and his brother died in a car crash last week, Spanish police have said.
The father of three, 28, was killed alongside sibling Andre Silva, 25, also a footballer, after the Lamborghini they were in burst into flames after a suspected tyre blowout.

The Guardia Civil of Zamora, near where the crash happened in the early hours of last Thursday, said investigations showed Jota was driving.
A spokesman said: “Everything also points to a possible high excess of speed over the permitted speed of the road.”
An expert report will be handed to a court when completed.
Jota and Silva were found dead after the car crashed on the A-52 in Palacios de Sanabria near the city of Zamora at 12.40am on Thursday.
Pictures of the aftermath of the crash showed debris scattered along the side of the road including what appeared to be charred parts of the vehicle.

A SENTENCING date for Sean “Diddy” Combs has been set after the music mogul was convicted of two prostitution-related charges at his high-profile trial.
Combs, who was acquitted of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges, will be sentenced on October 3.

Combs faces a maximum 20-year prison sentence – 10 years for each count of transportation to engage in prostitution.
However, federal prosecutors have said they would seek a 5 to 3-year sentence.
The time Combs has already served in jail, which will be over a year since his arrest in September 2024, would be credited to the ultimate sentence the judge imposes.
In a letter to Judge Subramanian, Marc Agnifilo, Combs’ lead attorney, requested a September 22 sentencing date before eventually agreeing to October 3 – the date the judge initially set for sentencing.
It’s unclear why the defense abandoned its efforts to expedite Combs’ sentencing.
Combs will remain housed in the notorious Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn while he awaits sentencing.
SHOCKING VERDICT
A jury acquitted Combs of the most serious charges he faced – racketeering conspiracy and two counts of sex trafficking in regards to Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura and “Jane,” a pseudonym used for one of Combs’ ex-girlfriends.
The music executive fell to his knees in prayer after the jury foreperson read the stunning verdict to the courtroom on July 2.
In their blistering closing arguments, prosecutors described Combs as the “leader of a criminal enterprise” who used his expansive “wealth, power, violence, and fear to get what he wanted.”
“He thought that his fame, wealth and power put him above the law,” Assistant US Attorney Christy Slavik said, adding, “It was his kingdom. Everyone was there to serve him.”
Slavik described to jurors how Combs forced his former lovers Ventura and “Jane” into participating in the punishing sex marathons and with the help of an inner circle of “loyal lieutenants” covered up the alleged crimes.
Ventura and Jane were sometimes required to perform the lewd acts, which were also called “hotel nights and wild king nights,” while they were hurting from urinary tract infections (UTIs), according to prosecutors.
Agnifilo, Combs’ lead attorney, summarized the seven-week trial as a “tale of two trials,” arguing one side is the one told by the evidence of the case, by witnesses, videos, and text messages, and the other was a “badly, badly, exaggerated” story told by prosecutors.
The defense attorney argued the sexual encounters involving Combs, Ventura, “Jane,” and male escorts were consensual, and called the “freak-offs,” which were sometimes video recorded, “homemade porn.”
“You want to call it swingers, you want to call it threesomes, whatever you want to call it, that is what it is – that’s what the evidence shows,” Agnifilo told the jury.
“He did what he did. But he’s going to fight to the death to defend himself from what he didn’t do.”

A BRIT tourist died from severe head injuries the day after he fell from a first floor window, an inquest has heard.
Ben Roberts, 24, suffered a fractured skull in the backwards plunge.
He was taken to hospital in Amsterdam but died the next day, donating his heart, liver, spleen, pancreas and kidneys to help others.
Ben, of Bromley, South East London, was in the Netherlands with his family in May last year when he sat on a windowsill and fell backwards.
Friends of his family donated almost £17,000 towards the young man’s funeral and to fly his body home as no travel insurance was in place at the time of the accident.
His heartbroken mother Kerry said: “I can’t describe our loss, we are heartbroken.
“As Ben’s mum, part of me died the day he did.”
Coroner Victoria Webb said: “This was a complete accident and no third party was involved.”
She said a UK post-mortem was limited due to organ donations and embalming but went on: “There is no evidence to suggest the fall was suspicious or intentional.”
Verdict: Accident.

Chloe, 43, first rose to fame in 2011 on The Only Way is Essex when she was introduced as the cousin of Joey Essex.
Now, the star took to social media to celebrate the fact that she finally owns her very own home in Los Angeles.
At the top of her Instagram grid page was a new behind-the-scenes video to Natasha Bedingfield‘s hit track Unwritten – which was famously used in the iconic LA-based MTV reality series, The Hills.
In the clip, her car drove past the famous Four Seasons hotel on the prestigious Doheney Drive in Beverly Hills.
She later gave fans a tour around the new apartment, which contained a huge open-plan kitchen and living area.
The walls looked absolutely pristine in the newly renovated living area which was also decked out with stylish wooden floorboards.
Chloe looked casual as she donned a yellow t-shirt with baggy summer trousers and black sandals.
She captioned the video: “New home!” along with a key emoji.
“After living here for a while I decided to make it more permanent! Massive thank you to @zolakanwal for searching for months to find me the perfect home!“
The former reality star added: “Let’s decorate!! #newhome#renovation.”
The clip was also emblazoned with the caption: “So this happened. L.A era! Our new home,” with a yellow heart emoji.
A year after quitting Towie she starred in her own show on the OnlyFans streaming network, OFTV, which was titled House of Sims.
This was alongside her family Demi, Frankie, and brother Charlie as the quartet tried to make it big in LA.
Joey Essex's famous exes
Sam Faiers – Joey dated Towie co-star Sam Faiers from 2011.
The pair were one of the original Essex duos, and were together on and off for three years before ending the relationship for good in September, 2014.
The romance soon fizzled out afterwards and Willerton, who won the title of Miss Universe Great Britain said she found it difficult.
Speaking to the Daily Star Sunday newspaper, she said: “The attention after we left the show was really hard for me. While Joey had a strong management team behind him, I didn’t really have anybody in my corner.”
Stephanie Pratt – Made In Chelsea star and US born socialite, Stephanie Pratt, dated Joey for three months.
They fell for each other while appearing in Celebs Go Dating and shared a steamy kiss in Joey’s swimming pool.
But he dumped her in October 2016 for making him “spend too much time in Chelsea”.
Lorena Medina – Joey met model Lorena Medina on MTV reality show Ex On The Beach in 2019.
Their relationship seemed to be going well after Joey showed her around his hometown of Chigwell in Essex. But the pair split in February 2020.
Rumours of the pair’s relationship circled for months in the lead up to the show airing, with Vanessa exclusively denying the whispers to the Sun in November 2022.
The pair came runners-up during the final in March – and while it seemed like they were close on the show, it appeared to have fizzled out shortly after.
By May 2023, Joey confirmed he was single and said he could not see a future for them after the final.
The sisters had a huge falling out on the show as they quit LA and fled to the UK, whilst Chloe opted to stay and try and break America.
At the time, a source told The Sun: “Chloe’s fallen out with her sisters big time.
“They’ve gone their separate ways after a huge fight broke out in LA, where they’d been filming the show.
“Chloe’s decided to stay out there while Frankie and Demi have left her and headed back home to Essex to pursue their own careers.”

GREGG Wallace has been hit by misconduct claims from 50 new people, it was sensationally revealed last night.
They include allegations that the star – now sacked as MasterChef presenter – groped one show worker and pulled his trousers down in front of two others.
PAGregg Wallace has been sacked from his job at the BBC[/caption]
PAThe presenter has been slammed with 50 new allegations of misconduct[/caption]
One of the two described it a “predatory” encounter.
She also claimed a boss dismissed her report of the alleged incident as she was over 16 and “not being Jimmy Savile-d”.
Another woman claimed Wallace groped her bottom while he spoke to ex co-host John Torode at the bar, during a wrap party in 2013.
The bombshell claims emerged after a nine-month sexual misconduct investigation into the star, who denies any wrongdoing.
And the claims come after Wallace, 60, stepped down as MasterChef presenter last November.
He exited the show after 13 people accused him of making inappropriate sexual comments.
Wallace – who has also fronted Celebrity Masterchef, Masterchef: The Professionals and Saturday Kitchen – came out fighting yesterday after it emerged he had been axed.
In a lengthy online statement he insisted he had been cleared of “the most serious and sensational accusations”.
On Instagram, where he has 220,000 followers, Wallace said: “After 21 years of loyal service to the BBC, I cannot sit in silence while my reputation is further damaged.
“The most damaging claims were found to be baseless after a full and forensic six-month investigation.”
But hours after Wallace’s online post, BBC News revealed the new claims against him during a probe by independent law firm Lewis Silkin.
It was hired by MasterChef production company Banijay to conduct a thorough investigation.
The BBC said last night it had not seen the Banijay report.
But its story said the corporation had been contacted by people across a range of shows and settings.
Most allegations were said to centre on inappropriate sexual comments, though 11 women are said to have accused him of inappropriate sexual behaviour.
That behaviour is said to include groping and touching.
The allegations raise fresh questions for the Beeb and Banijay over their oversight of Wallace’s alleged behaviour and their duty of care to staff.
One woman – called Alice by the BBC – claims Wallace took his trousers down in front of her in a dressing room.
GettyThe presenter has been accused of ‘predatory’ behaviour[/caption]
She accused TV veteran Wallace of “disgusting and predatory” behaviour.
Another, using the name Sophie, says she was left feeling “absolutely horrified” and “quite sick” when he allegedly groped her.
Others who contacted the corporation with fresh claims about the star include a participant on Saturday Kitchen, which Wallace hosted in 2002-2003.
The morning cooking show was, at that time, produced in-house by the BBC.
During a dinner ahead of filming in 2002, “Sophie” claimed Wallace put his hand under the table and onto her groin, saying: “Do you like that?”
Another woman is a university student who says she met Wallace in a nightclub with friends in 2013.
She claims that – after she asked to take a photo with him – he reached under her skirt and grabbed and groped her bottom.
The BBC reported that another woman alleged that Wallace put his hand up her dress at an industry ball in 2014 and groped her.
And a junior worker claims that – in 2012 – Wallace dropped his trousers in front of her.
She alleges he was not wearing underwear.
PAOne male cop said he was silenced when raising concerns about Wallace[/caption]
A string of men have also claimed they witnessed Wallace making inappropriate sexual comments, it was reported.
A former male cop has also said he tried to raise concerns about Wallace’s sexually inappropriate language to the BBC in 2023 but was stonewalled.
And other recent claims include a 19-year-old MasterChef worker who says she tried to complain about Wallace’s comments about her body in 2022.
The BBC said many of the women were young freelancers who felt unable to complain about Wallace’s behaviour at the time amid fears it would hamper their careers.
But one – “Alice” – said she voiced concerns to bosses but claims they were dismissed.
She worked on MasterChef between 2011 and 2013 when she was in her 20s.
At the time, the show was produced by Shine, a company now owned by Banijay.
She alleged that Wallace once asked her into his dressing room, saying he needed help getting into a black-tie outfit.
She claimed he pushed her down onto a sofa, pulled his trousers down and told her he wasn’t wearing any underwear, the BBC said.
She reported what had happened, she says, but was told by a senior production member: “You’re over 16, you’re not being ‘Jimmy Saviled’.”
Gregg Wallace - MasterChef scandal in Brief
GREGG Wallace has stepped down from his MasterChef hosting role after a probe into alleged inappropriate behaviour. But what's the situation?
Regular MasterChef host Gregg Wallace is currently the subject of a probe after an investigation was launched into his alleged misconduct over a number of years.
The 60-year-old has now stepped away from the BBC show while historical misconduct allegations against him are investigated.
Yet the former greengrocer spoke out on social media to blast the “women of a certain age” who he claimed were behind the allegations.
The cooking show’s production company, Banijay UK, has said law firm Lewis Silkin would lead the investigation into Wallace’s alleged misconduct.
Alice said she felt let down and left with the impression she should “be grateful and get on with it” due to her lowly role.
She has contributed to the Banijay inquiry, the BBC said.
A woman – “Anna” – claims Wallace pulled his trousers down in front of her as she worked on a photo shoot with him in 2012.
The alleged incident occurred when they were alone together in a dressing room area – and she could see he was not wearing underwear.
Wallace is said to have changed into the clothes she was holding from before she left.
She also claimed Wallace made lewd comments and was “touchy-feely”.
Anna said she felt “undermined” , unable to complain due to her junior position.
She told the BBC she had spoken up after being angered by Wallace’s Instagram video last year which saw him claim allegations had come from “a handful of middle-class women of a certain age”.
The Beeb reported her as saying: “Is he saying it was OK to behave that way with younger women, like I was at the time?”
Another MasterChef worker, Sophie, claims she was groped by the presenter at a wrap party at the end of the 2013 series.
She described the incident – which she claims happened as she was talking to Wallace and then co-host John Torode – he was about as “a full-handed squeeze”.
She added: “I turned around and it was Gregg.”
There is no suggestion Mr Torode was aware of the incident.
Again, the woman feared complaints would be ignored.
Sophie has also contributed to the Banijay inquiry.
GettyWallace has hit back at his former employers at the BBC[/caption]
Some new allegations happened away from television – one of them in the mid-to-late 2000s in Nottingham during a book tour.
Publicist “Esther” said Wallace pushed his way into her hotel room, took off his clothes, and then asked her: “Exactly what is it that you do?”
She says she was shocked and made it clear she was not interested, telling him: “That’s not part of my job.”
Esther claims he then says he climbed into her bed and fell asleep – prompting her to sleep at the edge of the bed, with her clothes on.
She claims that – when he woke up – Wallace put his hand on her bottom and commented that she had a “nice arse”.
She ordered him to leave, and he did, it was reported.
Esther did not complain at the time, but has contributed to the Banijay inquiry.
Yesterday, Wallace said: “I will not go quietly. I will not be cancelled for convenience. I was tried by media and hung out to dry well before the facts were established.”
He also accused the BBC of “peddling baseless and sensationalised gossip masquerading as properly corroborated stories”.
On Instagram, he said: “I recognise that some of my humour and language, at times, was inappropriate. For that, I apologise without reservation. But I was never the caricature now being sold for clicks.”
The BBC News report also said some people had got in touch to insiated Walace’s behaviour amounted to “jokes” and “banter”.
But a cameraman, who worked on the BBC show Eat Well For Less in 2016, said he heard Wallace make inappropriate comments in front of the production team.
This is alleged to have included asking a gay female director about her “lesbian clothing”.
He said: “It’s not banter, it’s not how you should behave in a professional workplace,” the BBC reportded.
A recent report into the BBC found that a small number of its stars and managers “behave unacceptably” at work, and that bosses often fail to tackle them.
In response, the broadcaster said it would introduce reforms, and its chairman Samir Shah said he would draw “a line in the sand”.
Banijay has said that it will not comment on the accusations until the report is published.
She couldn’t wait to inform me that my husband’s colleague had been staying over whenever I was away. She showed me photos she’d taken of her leaving our house.
Now my head is spinning.
We’ve had a few incidents with this neighbour before. She knocks on the door with a parcel she has taken in, but always seems to know what the contents are.
Once I caught her reading a letter she had fished out of our bin. She said she was looking for space because her “bin was full”.
But has she actually done me a favour?
My husband went back to work a year after a car accident.
His employer allowed him to make a phased return. He hasn’t been up to driving yet, so after a week of getting the bus into town, a new colleague offered to pick him up.
He’s 45 and he told me she was 25. I had no objections.
I thought it was kind of her to volunteer to give him a lift. I’m 42 and my job takes me all over the country so I’m often away overnight.
Because of his injuries, we’ve not had sex for months — and now I find out he’s giving it to someone else.
I don’t know how to even tackle the conversation with him.
DEIDRE SAYS: I’m afraid you don’t have a choice – you have to talk to him. Find a quiet moment to tell him what the neighbour showed you and listen carefully to his response.
If this woman has been staying over, he has a lot of explaining to do.
If he is remorseful, only you can decide if you are prepared to work on your relationship and forgive him.
He has hurt you so he will have to prove himself for any trust to return.
Please don’t allow him to pull the wool over your eyes with some ridiculous explanation.
There really isn’t any genuine innocent reason why this woman should have stayed overnight in your home, with your husband, without your prior knowledge.
Talking to a counsellor in a safe space can be beneficial.

SHOULD I END IT WITH LAZY OVERSEAS ONLINE GUY?
DEAR DEIDRE: ALL my energy is being sapped by my long-distance relationship. My boyfriend is rubbish.
I’m a woman of 27 and I met him online five years ago. I am American and I came to the UK to do a masters degree.
Before I left the States, I met a man of 30 online from a different state. We never actually met before I came away to study.
The relationship started out as chat and then it became sexual. He would ask me to send explicit photographs, which I did. We had video sex once too.
Since then the relationship hasn’t progressed. He shows no sign of wanting to meet me. He doesn’t support me financially or emotionally. He doesn’t even answer or return my calls. It’s all on his terms. Should I walk away?
DEIDRE SAYS: Yes. He is bringing nothing to the table and while you can’t expect financial support from him, it would be good to know if he sees a future with you.
You could ask him, but don’t hold your breath. It sounds as if you’re an online booty call for him.
It is always better if you can find somebody local where there is a mutual interest but it’s not always easy.
If you find someone new, really get to know them so you can be certain they want the same things as you do, and as a rule of thumb – don’t send any photograph that you wouldn’t be happy for your parents to see.
MY WIFE’S STOPPED ENJOYING SEX NOW
DEAR DEIDRE: I STILL have regular sex with my wife but it’s a long time since she’s had an orgasm.
In our younger years we used to be sex-mad.
We are both 61 now and my wife often seems to want physical intimacy when I do – she doesn’t turn me down when I initiate it anyway.
But she doesn’t seem to enjoy it as she used to. It’s a case of her enduring it rather than liking it.
We still enjoy doing things together, going on nice holidays and watching films with each other. We cuddle and hold hands.
I’ve asked her about sex and whether she enjoys it but she says: “It’s OK.”
I want to make her feel like she did when we were in our twenties.
DEIDRE SAYS: It is good for you physically and mentally to have sex for as long as you can. You’re both in your early 60s and there’s no reason why this should stop.
Your wife may not feel physically the same and it may take her a little longer to get aroused because of her age and the menopause.
Kissing, caressing, and massage can all help her to feel good and it’s important to not have sex until she’s ready.
Use lubrication if that helps.
My support pack Love And The Mature Woman will offer advice, along with one called Helping Your Partner To Orgasm.
I’M ADDICTED TO BUYING THINGS
DEAR DEIDRE: MY online shopping habit is completely out of control even though I live off my pension.
I’m a man of 56 and I live alone. I’ve never had a relationship with anyone – ever.
When I went to my nephew’s wedding, I wore a three-piece suit I’d had for years. I guess it would be considered “vintage”. I was getting lots of compliments from men and women, saying I looked “sharp” or “cool”. It gave me such a buzz.
The attention felt so good. I’d never thought about my appearance or been interested in clothes so much, so I started shopping on my tablet.
It seemed so easy. I bought a few items and then I went to a barbers and had a haircut. They suggested I grow my facial hair into a “trendy beard with a spaghetti moustache” – so I did it!
I went to my local social club and had such a nice time talking to people and feel I’ve reinvented myself. The attention just keeps on coming and I’m having the time of my life.
It all comes at a cost though and my credit card bill is now massive. I know that I have got to stop but I feel that I’m addicted to improving my image.
DEIDRE SAYS: You’ll need to try to pay off some of your credit card but without an income, it might prove difficult.
To make a dent in your debts, make a concerted effort to sell some things you no longer need. There are lots of different auction sites.
Ask a friend or relative to help you if you’re not sure how to go about it.
My support pack Solving Debt Problems will show you where to find free assistance to help you get this sorted out.
You can find further support through Action On Addiction, who can advise you about shopping problems too and assist you in getting the right help (takingactiononaddiction.org.uk).
Matt Rogers has amassed a stable of eight horsesGarrett White - The Sun DublinNico de Boinville riding Break My Soul, which is one of the horses owned by MattGetty Images - GettyMatt has fixed up his old family farmhouseGarrett White - The Sun Dublin
The budding horse owner today lifts the lid on how he is having a nag-nificient time owning a collection of runners, including Lisnamult Lad, Break My Soul and Tankardstown Diva.
Minted Matt, who loves to travel to the racetrack by helicopter, has landed tens of thousands of euro in prize money with his horses.
In an exclusive interview with The Irish Sun, the lucky punter told how he recently went up against legendary race horse owner JP McManus and trainer Willie Mullins, narrowly losing out on a first place finish in the final straight.
JP and Mullins teamed up to win the UK Topham Handicap Chase with Gentleman De Mee at Aintree in April.
But it was Matt’s mount Lisnamult Lad who looked to have the race won when taking up the running after the last.
Speaking to The Irish Sun, Matt opened up on how a loose horse derailed a dream triumph.
He told us: “I’ve eight horses now. It’s my big interest.
“One (Lisnamult Lad) was second in a top chase in England.
“One of Mullins’ horses beat him. He (Lisnamult Lad) had it won. You know when you come to the elbow? There was a loose horse. And he went across and brought him out that way. And when he came to the elbow, he brought him out the other way.
“And Mullins’ horse just came up and took him under the line. He could have won by about three lengths. It was a tough one for Lisnamult Lad.”
Gentleman De Mee, priced at 14/1, ensured the Mullins bandwagon rolled on in the Topham Handicap Chase at Aintree in April.
Mullins’ nine-year-old swooped late under jockey Mark Walsh to nick the win amid high drama in the closing stages of the race on the famous course.
Lisnamult Lad’s rider Johnny Burke touched down clear after the last and had victory in his sights — only for it to be snatched away from him by the riderless Ash Tree Meadow.
CRUEL TWIST
In a cruel twist for Matt’s 21/1 shot Lisnamult Lad, the loose horse proved too tough to avoid for pilot Burke.
He had to check his momentum, allowing rival rider Walsh to bridge the gap and emerge victorious by three-quarters of a length.
But despite the bitter blow, Matt revealed he gets a buzz out of watching his horses in action.
“I’ve eight horses now. It’s my big interest.”

He told us: “I go down the country and that.
“We went down to Listowel in a helicopter and that. I’ve eight horses now.
“I’ve a yearling and a foal was born there about two weeks ago.
“The horses are my big interest.”
Loaded Matt shared a €175.4million EuroMillions jackpot with eight siblings in February 2019.
PURCHASES MADE
The modest multi-millionaire has shunned mansions to remain in his native village in north Co Dublin.
And he snubbed sports cars to snap up a Peugeot SUV.
Matt, along with his three brothers and five sisters, divvied up their mega loot after buying their ticket in Les Reilly’s Daybreak on Main Street in Naul.
The clan are mostly retired and living between Naul, in north Co Dublin, and the nearby villages of Duleek and Bellewstown, Co Meath.
CELEBRATION FEAST
The Irish Sun previously revealed how the lucky siblings, including Christine Rogers, celebrated their monster win with a €12.50 carvery.
We also told how sister Kathleen Sheridan dipped into her share to upgrade her old Mazda2 to a Mazda CX-5.
And rather than upping sticks to a fancy new pad, Matt has stayed put at the farmyard where he and his brothers and sisters grew up.
HOME RENOVATION
He spent months renovating the site – and made do with living in an outbuilding while works were being carried out.
Proud Matt recently showed The Irish Sun the finished job, which features a bungalow with its own bar and a sprawling greenhouse out the back.
He told how the clan have not gone jack-potty since landing the EuroMillions, with holidays including budget breaks to the Czech Republic and Spain.
And he vowed never to move from his beloved native village.
Matt told The Irish Sun: “I’m the same as usual. Why change?”
