I bought a bargain picket fence on Temu to make my garden pretty & keep my dog off the wall – but made an epic mistake

A BARGAIN hunter thought she found a fence for her garden, but what arrived was a mega fail.

Kerry-Louise Webber decided to give her garden an update for the summer and keep her dog from jumping on the garden wall.

But what she got left her in stitches[/caption]

So, she decided to buy an adorable picket fence in brown to add a touch of glam and prevent her dog from climbing up.

Kerry-Louise didn’t want to spend too much on the garden makeover so decided to head to Temu to grab a bargain.

The online retailer is well known for its cut-price deals so she was pleased to see a fence on offer for just £1.34.

But when it came she was left in hysterics.

Taking to Facebook, she shared a video of her garden and where she wanted to put the new buy.

She said: “Right, having done the garden, I’ve bought a little fence. I thought if I put a little fence along here like, and along there, it would look quite pretty and stop her (Kerry-louise’s pitbull) jumping on and off the wall.

“So I thought, get a little picket fence.

“So, I ordered one off Temu which looked lovely.”

The little while wall was decorated in knickknacks and fairy lights and the picket fence would have looked gorgeous surrounding it.

But when the package came, Kerry-Louise was stunned to see it only stood around 10cm tall.

She was left in hysterics as she joked: “What the actual f***.

“That’s the picket fence. Holy moly.”

In the comments of the clip, she revealed that when she first opened the package she thought it was a KitKat bar as it was so small.

Fortunately the tiny fence didn’t go to waste as the woman had a friend who used them for a doll house she was making.

The video soon went viral on the Facebook group, BARGAIN LOVERS Poundland, Home Bargains, B&M, Primark, The Range & More, and people were left in hysterics in the comments.

One person wrote: “Pahahah as soon as you said Temu I knew where this was heading.”

Another commented: “I never check measurements, I know better now!”

“OMG that’s so big! Are you planning on hiding from your neighbours?” joked a third.

Why is Temu so cheap?

TEMU exploded onto the scene in late 2022, with people all over social media raving about the low prices.

The company is a Chinese-owned digital marketplace – essentially an online shopping app where people are connected to the retailer directly while the app takes care of the shipping element.

The frenzy over the app is not completely unfounded either as it offers a wide variety of products, including fashion, make-up, electronics and furniture.

According to a report from the US House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, Temu takes advantage of a trade loophole that allows the company to ship duty-free goods directly to the US.

The loophole is called the de minimis exception and it means they can ship goods valued up to $800 (£643) to the US without it being inspected or taxed by US customs.

Temu connects customers directly to manufacturers and only manages how the items are sent to customers.

It means Chinese vendors can essentially sell their products directly to customers and ship it without building a network of warehouses across the globe.

By doing this, they cut down on huge costs and ensure the product itself isn’t marked up extra.

While many of the products seen on the Temu app are from brands with extensive, original collections, many more are dupes of designer brands.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “Gosh, that made me chuckle.”

“Temu did you dirty,” claimed a fifth

Someone else added: “Sorry but that is so funny!”

England 4 Holland 0: Lionesses bounce back from France defeat with Dutch demolition thanks to Lauren James double

THE LIONESSES have lift-off thanks to Lauren James.

England produced a brilliant response to silence their critics and roar past Holland 4-0 to finally get their European Championship defence going.

A brace from James provided the perfect tonic to cure any potential hangover from the opening day defeat to France.

And Georgia Stanway and Ella Toone added the finishing touches as they sent out an ominous warning to Wales.

The pressure was on holders England and Sarina Wiegman going into this one at Stadion Letzigrund in Zurich.

Another loss could potentially have ended their hopes of retaining the crown and meant Sunday’s showdown with the Welsh could have been a dead rubber.

But England will secure a place in the knockouts if they triumph in the Battle of Britain clash in St. Gallen after downing the Dutch.

Wiegman, who led her home nation, the Netherlands, to Euro joy in 2017, demanded a reaction after the 2-1 setback against the French.

Rather than get caught up in any hysteria, the experienced coach instead called for her troops to do their talking on the pitch. And they did just that.

England, with Toone in for Beth Mead as their only change, flew out the traps.

Lauren Hemp’s trickery down the left led to her putting it on a plate for Alessio Russo, but the forward could only head wide unmarked from six yards.

Holland survived that one, but they could do nothing to stop the genius James moments later.

The move started with goalkeeper Hannah Hampton picking out Russo with a brilliant low pass into her feet.

The 26-year-old Arsenal ace slipped it to James on the edge of the box and she cut in from the right, working it on to her left, and unleashed a piledriver straight into the top corner.

The Chelsea star, whose older brother Reece also plays for the Blues and England, is fast turning into THE key player for Wiegman.

She has eight goals and eight assists in her last 13 starts for her country and showed everybody why she is one of the first names on the team-sheet.

James nearly returned the favour for Russo but the latter could only flick her floated strike wide.

The pressure was mounting and they got their reward when Stanway rifled low into the bottom right corner from 25 yards before the break.

The floodgates were open, and James could smell blood.

Pinball in the Dutch box led to Hemp’s shot deflecting out to her, and she coolly slotted home from six yards for her second.

The Lionesses were still on the hunt and hungry for more and they did not have to wait long to bite another chunk out of their completely outclassed opponents.

Russo made it a hat-trick of assists as she teed up best pal Toone to score the fourth.

Finally, and perhaps mercifully for them, Holland did have something to smile about when James made way to a huge ovation late on.

Her work was done here. Now both she and England know the job in hand – simply beat Wales and it’s off to the last-eight.

‘Can’t believe we are here now’ – Man Utd set to abandon pre-season tradition leaving fans fuming

MANCHESTER UNITED are set to abandon their traditional pre-season gift-giving – leaving fans fuming.

Clubs usually exchange both pennants and gifts during friendlies.

But according to talkSPORT, United will not partake in the latter when they play Leeds on July 19 in Stockholm.

And United are said to have denied that it is a cost-cutting measure – instead insisting it is a “move away from needless ceremony and pomp.”

But fans did not react well to the news online as one said: “Can’t believe we are here now.”

Another fumed: “It’s 100% a cost cutting measure! It’s embarrassing from the club!”

A third raged: “We are shameless.”

Clubs often exchange personalised shirts or other club merchandise during pre-season games and become a gesture of goodwill to help forge relationships.

But under Ratcliffe’s reign, United are undergoing significant cost-cutting measures drive after losses exceeded £300m over the past three years.

This has included hundreds of redundancies, the closure of the staff canteen and lunch options at Carrington have also been reduced.

Funding to the club’s charitable arm, The Manchester United Foundation, was also reduced.

Ratcliffe controversially ended legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson’s ambassadorial role while Bryan Robson, Andy Cole and Denis Irwin had their salaries cut.

United finished in 15th last season but have kept faith in manager Ruben Amorim.

They also play West Ham, Bournemouth, Everton and Fiorentina as a part of their pre-season tour.

Paul Mescal and Normal People co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones reunited as famous pals back together to enjoy London gig

IRISH hunk Paul Mescal and his Normal People co-star reunited to take in a concert together in London with some pals.

The Gladiator 2 actor, 29, and Twister actress, Daisy Edgar-Jones, 27, shot to fame back in 2020 when their romantic BBC drama became the hottest series of the year.

Paul and Daisy have remained close pals since shooting the series

Paul and Daisy rose to fame virtually overnight and have since seen their careers flourish.

Mescal has landed standout roles in Aftersun, All of Us Strangers, and the smash hit flick Gladiator 2.

Meanwhile, Edgar-Jones has starred in Where the Crawdads Sing, Under the Banner of Heaven, and Twisters.

But despite both skyrocketing to fame, one thing that hasn’t changed since they filmed Normal People is their offscreen friendship.

Fans have grown infatuated with their chemistry after Normal People, and the co-stars went viral in May 2024 when Edgar-Jones admitted that filming the series made her fall “in love with Paul, as a friend”.

However, the two are just good friends, with Daisy dating photographer Ben Seed since September 2023, and Paul romantically linked to pop star Gracie Abrams.

But, the good pals were snapped back together while attending a Noah Kahan concert in London this weekend.

The friendly pair were pictured strolling through Hyde Park as Daisy put her arms around the shoulders of Paul and another pal as they all shared a good giggle.

Paul donned a casual baseball cap with a blue t-shirt and his famous short-shorts.

While Daisy looked stunning in a white ruffled blouse and matching mini skirt.

Of course, the internet was set ablaze when the pictures were posted online.

‘CAN’T COPE’

Cat said: “Oh my God I simply cannot cope with this.”

Staci remarked: “I love them so much. I’m so happy they’re still friends. Their little friend group is everything.”

While one fan added: “They keep reuniting, love it.”

And Angela exclaimed: “You can tell Paul’s a nice person just by how people smile when they’re with him.”

Pregnant woman left gran-of-12 with horror injuries as she pleaded ‘help me’ after brawl erupted at family funeral

A GRANDMUM-of-12 was left with horrific injuries and pleaded “help me” after being attacked by a pregnant woman.

The traumatising assault was launched during a family funeral held at the Conservative Club, in Splott, Cardiff.

Grieving Danielle Oliver, 39, brutally targeted Belinda Stickland, 65, on June 9, in 2023.

The mum-of-three left her victim in hospital for nine days with fractured ribs, emphysema, and fluid on her lungs.

Appearing at Cardiff Crown Court today, Mrs Stickland said she is now a “shell of a person”.

Prosecuting, Kirsten Murphy, told the court Oliver had to be physically dragged off Mrs Stickland by venue staff in the frenzied ambush.

Disturbing CCTV footage was described by the prosecution.

Oliver was seen looking at her phone while standing at the bar, alongside her victim.

Without warning, she launched her merciless onslaught and threw Mrs Stickland to the floor.

Cops arrested her four days after the horror, and she pleaded guilty to assault occasioning grievous bodily harm at a later court date.

In a victim impact statement read to the court Ms Stickland said: “I was attending the funeral of a close friend on the day I was assaulted. It changed my life in so many ways. It took my sparkle away.

“I am now a shell of a person. Oliver was a stranger to me and yet now she is woven into the fabric of my every day.

“I used to go out and enjoy my life and speak to my neighbours but now I can’t leave the house. I feel it is too unsafe.”

Speaking to her attacker, the brave victim asked: “What if you had killed me? What if you had left my children without their mother? What if you had left my grandchildren without their nan?

“I don’t just live with the physical injuries, I continue to live with the mental trauma. I am no longer me.”

Judge Mills told Oliver: “Even brief incidents of violence can have catastrophic consequences.

“Any idea that a single blow to the face doesn’t do any harm is completely wide of the mark. You could today have been facing prosecution for manslaughter.

“I have heard you are surprised by the seriousness of your victim’s injuries. Well I’m afraid in the job that I do I see all of the time how momentary acts of violence have very serious consequences and sometimes fatal consequences.

“Once you lay your hands on someone else in such a way then the consequences can be truly catastrophic and they arguably have been in this case.”

He added: “I am not going into the background of why you made the decision you did. You were pregnant at the time and I’m aware your medication had to be adjusted.

“An issue was brought to your attention which caused you to make completely the wrong decision.”

Defending, Dan Jones, told the court Oliver has three children who need her at home.

He also told how his client did not mean to inflict such injuries and feels remorse.

Oliver, of Braunton Avenue in Llanrumney, was given a suspended sentence of two years instead of 66 weeks imprisonment.

She was also made the subject of a restraining order banning her from approaching Mrs Stickland for five years.

The mum-of-three further has to complete a 10-day rehabilitation activity requirement.

Outside court Ms Stickland’s daughter, Jinaise, told WalesOnline: “We’re satisfied with the outcome. It’s been two years now and we want to move on.

“My mother is 65 now and shouldn’t have had to put up with this. The puncture has given her emphysema.

“My mother is already closer to the coffin than most and she shouldn’t have to have anyone wanting to put her in there any sooner by assaulting her.”

Famous UK theme park to shut its gates for final time after 100 years of ‘bringing fun & laughter’ to seaside hotspot

A FAMOUS UK theme park has closed its doors after serving customers for 100 years.

The seaside attraction has brought “fun” and “laughter” for holidaymakers for years, but now will be replaced by a major project.

Coney Beach’s owners said that it is an ‘end of an era’[/caption]

Coney Beach amusement park in Porthcawl, Wales, first opened up in 1918.

It was reportedly built to entertain American troops in the UK, having been based on the famous Coney Island attraction in New York.

However, after serving customers for over 100 years, its owners – the Evans family – have decided to close the park.

The family took to social media to reveal the closure in a heartbreaking statement.

The statement read:  “It is with heavy hearts we would like to share with you personally that this season at Coney Beach will be our last.

“We will be closing our gates for the final time this October.

“It’s the end of an era. For over 100 years we and other showmen and their families have lived and worked in Porthcawl helping to make it a busy seaside destination bringing fun, laughter, and fond memories to so many.

“We will miss it greatly and while we are sad to see our time here come to an end we are forever grateful to have had the opportunity to have been part of so many generations of families’ lives, young and old.

“Thank you for sharing our love of ‘all the fun of the fair’ and the legacy that Coney Beach leaves. The Evans family.”

The Welsh Government has confirmed that it has successfully purchased sections of the 20-hectare site, which will be a key part of Bridgend Council’s plan to regenerate Porthcawl.

As part of a mixed-use redevelopment in the area, a new housing estate, new retail business facilities, a new primary school and recreational and leisure facilities will be opened.

The news comes as the Welsh Government plans to ban popular lunchtime items for school children, in a bid to promote healthy eating.

Proposals for what can be served in schools from 2026 could see sugary cereals and white bread banned, as well as processed meats like gammon.

Fried chips could be served only once a week, while portion sizes will be adjusted to better meet the needs of different children.

The bans are being considered as one in four Welsh children are now categorised as overweight or obese.

China’s terrifying new giant ‘sea monster’ warplane pictured for first time – & it’s a throwback to Cold War Soviet tech

CHILLING pictures have emerged showing China’s terrifying new giant “sea monster” warplane for the first time.

And the wing-in-ground effect (WIG) aircraft, commonly known as an ekranoplan, is a throwback to Soviet military tech from the Cold War era.

The Soviet Lun-class ekranoplan lay dormant on the coast of the Caspian Sea for more than 30 years[/caption]

For the first time, the mysterious Chinese military plane was spotted in the Bohai Sea – reportedly undergoing testing.

Dubbed the “Bohai Sea Monster” by aviation analysts, the plane was seen floating on blue waters.

Another picture showed the craft partly covered at a naval pier.

The vehicle has a boat-shaped fuselage with a horizontal stabiliser on top of the joined V-shape tail – a common configuration for WIG craft.

It could be used to facilitate rapid coastal transport, resupply missions, or amphibious operations, according to aviation and maritime experts.

China has been flexing its military muscles to intimidate Taiwan, which has hit back with increased drills of its own.

It comes just months after satellite pictures showed China’s terrifying new invasion barges lining up to form a floating bridge – amid a spate of war drills involving the army, navy and rocket force.

The satellite images show three specialised barges, each with two arms of roadway, lining up next to each other.

They connect to form a continuous bridge along which invading ground vehicles such as tanks could trundle ashore.

Huge retractable legs anchor the barges to the seabed like stilts.

What is en ekranoplan?

An ekranoplan, first developed by the Russians, is a military vehicle that resembles a hybrid between an aircraft and a ship.

These vehicles are also known as ground-effect vehicles (GEV), wing-in-ground-effect (WIG) craft, or wingships.

They are designed to fly at very low altitudes over a level surface, usually water, by taking advantage of an aerodynamic principle called the ground effect.

An ekranoplan utilises the aerodynamic interaction between the moving wing and the surface below – which could be ground or water.

When a wing moves close to the ground, air pressure on the underside of the wing increases, creating a cushion of air.

This air cushion increases lift and reduces drag, allowing the vehicle to glide just a few meters above the surface.

This is a dynamic air cushion that is created by the forward speed of the craft.

A SOVIET RELIC

Caspian Sea Monster, a 302ft Soviet Sea Monster, was a prime example of an ekranoplan.

The aquatic beast is perhaps one of the weirdest-looking machines ever built, with four engines stacked in a row on each of its wings.

It was bigger than a Boeing 747 and armed to the teeth with missiles, was beyond unique with eight huge jet engines.

The hybrid ship-aircraft, officially named Korabl Maket, was built by the Soviet Union during the Cold War and weighed 240 tonnes when empty, with a 72ft height, a 123ft wingspan, and a top speed of 310mph.

It was an experimental vehicle developed in the 1960s and intended to attack Nato nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers.

It carried six anti-ship missiles in launch tubes at the top of its hull, which could travel up to 60 miles at three times the speed of light.

The machine first entered service in 1966 and was continuously tested by the Soviet Navy, until it crashed in the Caspian Sea in 1980.

It was decommissioned when the Soviet Union collapsed in the early 1990s and lay dormant for more than three decades at Kaspiysk naval base, about 62 miles up the coast from Derbent.

A second Sea Monster was designed for rescue and supply missions and was nearly completed by the early 1990s – but the project was scrapped when the Soviet Union collapsed, at the same time the existing ekranoplan was withdrawn from service.

AMERICA’S ANSWER

The Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the Pentagon’s right arm, is building a ground-effect vehicle (GEV) expected to take to the skies from 2027.

Called the Liberty Lifter, the aircraft will be responsible for the transportation of war logistics on a mass scale.

The futuristic plane will be able to transport heavy and bulky equipment way quicker than existing cargo aircraft and ships while covering greater distances.

As an ekranoplan, it will fly low over the ocean surface while fighting a wide range of weather conditions.

It will also be able to fly at high altitudes up to 10,000 feet for short but frequent periods.

Similar to a hovercraft, it will be able to glide over water on a cushion of air, allowing it to be quicker and more efficient.

And its mass size will allow it to stay stable while carrying tonnes of goods.

The DARPA said in a statement: “The Liberty Lifter program is currently designing and will build, float, and fly an affordable and innovative seaplane that can potentially transform fast logistics missions for the DOD and commerce.”

In addition to operating over water, the Liberty Lifter will also be able to cruise over any relatively flat surface, including rivers, deserts – and even snow fields.

The United States considered building ekranoplans during the Cold War just like the Russians.

American spies were once convinced that ekranoplans could be used for laying mines, as well as for anti-submarine warfare and search and rescue operations.
