Love Island star Dejon’s colleague claims he’s on the show to win it saying ‘he’s ‘just there to secure the bag’

LOVE Island hunk Dejon is purely in the villa to “secure the bag” and walk out with the “cash” – according to his former colleague.

The 2025 ITV2 contestant is coupled up with fellow Love Island OG Meg, yet their bond is being tested after he formed a connection with Casa Amor beauty Andrada.

ITV viewers have previously said that Dejon, who has been under Meg’s thumb since day one, has been afraid to look at another girl since entering the villa.

And they called out his attitude after he was taken on a date by bombshell Billykiss – only for it to end in him dishing out cruel jibes during a row when he decided to stay with Meg.

Today, The Sun exclusively teased the “wildest ever” Casa Amor reecoupling – as well as a mass dumping with both OG Islanders and Casa stars given the boot.

Yet with his future on the show hanging in the balance, his former work colleague has admitted he’s there for the cash prize.

TikTok user Ayla Mellek told how she had worked with Dejon at his gym, inserting videos of their shoots together to prove she was genuine.

In a piece direct to camera, she bluntly said: “I’m here to confirm that Dejon from Love Island is just there to secure the bag.

“Please ignore the visuals, I’m in the airport right now.

“But anyways I actually know Dejon, I met him through work during this content shoot.”

She added: “My experience working with him, he is actually a genuinely sweet, respectful kind of guy.

“Like he is not a rude boy in real life he’s very much reserved and shy, especially when you just meet him and are quite new to him.

“So how he is on TV is a reflection of him in real life, how he is reserved and shy.

“I don’t think he’s there playing a game between Meg and Billykiss or whatever but I do think he’s there and he’s got this goal to win and to get this cash.”

She then told how the way he spoke to Irish influencer Billykiss had “triggered” her.

In the comments section, one TikTok user mused: “I mean aren’t they all there to win?”

Love Island 2025 - Casa Amor girls

WHO are the latest bombshells heading into the spin-off villa?

The Sun exclusively reported the identities of the six beauties heading into the ITV2 spin-off villa, after it was teased during last week’s episode.

The Love Island newbies were seen strolling into the compound clad in swimwear – with one already having a connection to Harry.

On the show’s official Instagram page it teased: “Amor the merrier… who’s ready for Casa Amor?” and now we can report the full line-up.

  • Lauren Wood, 26,
  • Emma Munro, 30
  • Lucy Quinn, 21
  • Yasmin Broom, 26
  • Andrada Pop, 27
  • Rheo Parnell, 26

Another added: “Nothing wrong with trying to secure the bag but the way he went about it with Billykiss was just hard to watch.”

A third referred to former Islanders and put: “He wants the same fame as Tyrique and Dami.”

One concluded: “Seems a few of them are just there to secure the bag hmmmm.”

ALL CHANGE

This week will see the dramatic outcome of the Casa Amor re-coupling.

The Sun is keeping schtum on the results of the explosive scenes, filmed last night and which will air on screen this week – but we can reveal that the switch-up left several Islanders single.

And they’ve now already left the villa.

A source said: “The Casa Amor recoupling is always hotly anticipated and this year the Islanders have been quick off the mark.

“Bosses were left gobsmacked by how far some of them were prepared to take it to ‘test their connection’, as they always like to say.

“It’s been the raunchiest break ever, with lots of bedroom scenes not even making it to air.

“It’s all led to spicy recoupling and several Islanders have bitten the dust.”

Entire Wimbledon crowd breaks out in applause after umpire’s message to troublemaker

A TENNIS fan was sternly told off by umpire James Keothavong during yesterday’s Wimbledon quarter-final between Aryna Sabalenka and Laura Siegemund.

World No1 Sabalenka was pushed to the limit by the wily German veteran.

As the Belarusian stepped up for a second serve at 4-4 in the deciding third set, experienced official Keothavong was taking no nonsense.

The umpire, sister of former British No1 Anne Keothavong, said: “Can the person applauding between first and second serves stop doing that please.

“It’s spoiling the game for everyone and the players.”

This was met by cheers and applause from much of the Centre Court crowd.

Sabalenka, 27, went on to squeeze past Siegemund 4-6 6-2 6-4.

The No1 seed will next face Amanda Anisimova for a place in the final.

After the stern test, Sabalenka said: “Inside I was struggling because she was playing a really smart game.

“At the beginning I was missing a lot. I felt like I was rushing. So I’m really glad that after the first set, I was able to reset a little bit and change my tactic and get the win.

“After the second set, the middle of the second set, I started feeling my game better, and I had a better understanding of what I should do to get the win.

“But about her game, I wasn’t really annoyed. What can I do?

“It was great play, smart play. Tough for my body to play against, but I managed.

“It was a great fitness. Whoever is going to slice against me, I’m going to be like, Guys, I played against Laura, are you kidding me?”

Woman who stabbed ‘devoted’ mum, 31, to death with knife used to cut cake at child’s birthday party is jailed

A WOMAN who stabbed a “devoted” mum to death with a knife used to cut the cake at a child’s birthday party has been jailed for life.

Hope Rowe, 33, hid the blade in her handbag before attacking Charlotte Lawlor in front of horrified guests.

She stabbed Charlotte Lawlor to death at a birthday party[/caption]

She then fled the scene with her partner Leigh Holder “without even a backward glance” at the 31-year-old as she lay dying on the ground.

Rowe has now been jailed for life with a minimum of 22 years after she was convicted of murdering Charlotte last September.

Holder, who had previous convictions for violence including a nine year jail sentence for wounding with intent, was jailed for 16 months for assisting an offender.

Inner London Crown Court heard Rowe and Charlotte had earlier been involved in a “verbal disagreement” at the party.

Before the brutal killing, Rowe was seen looking “agitated and angry” outside the home in Stepney Green, East London.

Prosecutor Charlotte Newell KC said: “She produced the knife from her bag. She was ranting and raving in the foyer.”

Rowe then stabbed Charlotte in the chest then continued to knife her as the mum lay in a pool of blood.

Ms Newell said she and Holder then left the scene “without a backward glance at the dead woman” despite knowing Rowe “had stabbed and likely killed Charlotte Lawlor”.

She continued: “Yet they were not concerned for the victim of that attack.

“Their concern was for themselves, and to evade, to whatever extent possible, taking responsibility for her actions.”

In a recorded voicemail, Holder later told Rowe: ‘”You absolute idiot. You killed her you f**king idiot.”

Rowe chillingly replied “Good”.

Jurors were shown doorbell camera footage and CCTV from a bus tracking Rowe’s movements after she fled the party.

Bodyworn footage later showed her at the police station putting her head in her hands as she asked an officer: “Murder?

“Is it attempted murder, or murder?”

She claimed she had experienced a momentary loss of control but her lies unravelled because of the voicemail and witness accounts.

Detective Sergeant Dean Musgrove, from the Met Police’s Specialist Crime North unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the friends and family of Ms Lawlor, many of whom personally witnessed the murder. We hope that this sentence gives them some closure.

“Rowe and her partner behaved despicably. This sentence shows that killers will be pursued even in cases where they attempt to mislead investigators.”

Christian Horner gave leaving speech to hundreds of Red Bull staff moments before F1 sacking was announced

SACKED Christian Horner gave a rousing leaving speech to his Red Bull team at their Milton Keynes HQ on Wednesday morning, SunSport can reveal.

The official departure of Red Bull’s only ever team principal was announced shortly after he finished saying his goodbyes.

Christian Horner, former Red Bull team principal, at a news conference.

The Brit made his final speech as Red Bull boss at around 10.30am[/caption]

Horner, 51, was the longest reigning F1 boss after becoming commander in chief of the Austrian team during its inception in 2005.

The Brit made his final speech as Red Bull boss at around 10.30am, with hundreds of staff gathering to witness F1 history.

He reportedly gave no reason for his shock dismissal, with Laurent Mekies appointed as the new CEO of Red Bull Racing, stepping up from the Racing Bulls team.

But pressure has been building on Horner, with the news of his axing coming a year after the ‘sexting scandal’ that engulfed him over inappropriate texts he apparently sent to a female employee.

Despite keeping his job in the aftermath of the chaos, Red Bull have slumped down both the Drivers and Constructors standings.

Reports in May suggested Horner was on the way out and about to end his two-decade career with the Austrian team, with Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari allegedly then keen to nab him.

With the Red Bull car clearly inferior to McLaren’s this season and Liam Lawson being kicked out of the team and replaced by Yuki Tsunoda after his lacklustre start, the 2025 season started badly for Horner.

Horner was forced to deny he was facing the sack before the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix three months ago.

In May, he said: “It’s always flattering to be associated with other teams, but my commitment is with Red Bull.

“It always has been and certainly will be for the long term.”

While McLaren overtook them on track, Red Bull also struggled to keep their winning team of senior technical and management staff together.

The departure of the world’s best car designer, Adrian Newey, who moved to Aston Martin in a £30million-a-year deal, rocked Horner’s credibility in the aftermath of his sexting scandal.

His reputation took another blow when sporting director Jonathan Wheatley, who was thought of as Horner’s potential successor, quit Red Bull to join Kick Sauber as team boss.

Mercedes chief Toto Wolff‘s confirmation that he was in talks with Red Bull’s prized asset Max Verstappen also put Horner’s feet to the fire and may have been the tipping point.

At Silverstone, Horner insisted that four-time world champion Verstappen, 27, wanted to “finish his career in a Red Bull car”.

Both the Dutchman and ex-F1 driver dad Jos, 53, have been disillusioned with Red Bull under Horner for well over a year.

Jos has previously called on Horner to quit amid their long-running feud after the sexting scandal news broke in March 2024.

Verstappen reportedly has a performance clause in his contract that allows either side to break their mammoth five-year deal, which runs until 2028, if he is fourth or below in the standings at the start of the summer break.

The four-time world champion is currently third in the standings, 69 points behind Drivers Championship leader Oscar Piastri, and 61 points behind Lando Norris.

Meanwhile, Horner led Red Bull to 124 Grand Prix wins, eight Drivers’ Championships and six Constructors’ Championships.

Red Bull managing director Oliver Mintzlaff said: “We would like to thank Christian Horner for his exceptional work over the last 20 years.

“With his tireless commitment, experience, expertise and innovative thinking, he has been instrumental in establishing Red Bull Racing as one of the most successful and attractive teams in Formula One.”

Mekies will lead Red Bull for the first time at the Belgian Grand Prix on July 27 after a three week break.

I’m sick of how horrible Primark dresses look on my plus-size body but trolls say the ‘clothes are not the problem here’

SHOPPING at Primark can always be hit and miss – and sadly, it was the latter for one plus-size fashionista.

Katherine Schiro recently paid the popular high street giant a visit and was gobsmacked by how horrible some of the viral items looked.

The shopper, from the US, was horrified by how some of the dresses fit her[/caption]

Cruel social media users, meanwhile, thought the retailer wasn’t to blame for the unfortunate haul[/caption]

However, cruel social media users insisted that ”clothes are not the problem” and she should’ve gone up a few dress sizes.

One of the items Katherine tried on in the changing room was a bright two-piece consisting of a tight top and figure-hugging mini skirt, both in size 14.

”It doesn’t fit. Finding anything above Medium in Primark is wild,” she said in the now-viral clip.

”Tragic,” said the horrified shopper who describes herself as ”plus-size”.

While Katherine loved a few of the items, most of the haul was a total flop, including a white dress that was ”see-through”.

Posing with the mini number that also featured two adorable bows, the Primark customer said: ”You can see my belly button, you can see the [stomach] lines – horrible.”

Another item that the fashionista gave a go to was a suede-style midi dress in dark brown.

But while Katherine ”kind of” loved the stylish dress, she had an issue with the tummy popping out.

”If they just had one size up, this would’ve been perfect,” the style fan was convinced.

‘Primark isn’t the problem here’

Unfortunately for Katherine, there was little sympathy in the comments under the clip that’s racked up 2.3million views in just one day.

As over 1,300 people flooded to share their thoughts, many reckoned it wasn’t ”the store’s fault” the size 14 outfits didn’t fit her.

One brutal TikToker said: ”I hate how she complains about the ‘tummy lines’ and literally blames the clothes…

”Like yes your wearing fitted clothes it’s going to show what’s there so either don’t wear fitted clothes or lose weight.”

Why Primark is great for looking expensive on a budget

By Clemmie Feildsend, Fabulous Fashion Editor

AS someone who’s no stranger to grabbing a last-minute outfit from Primark for a night out, it’s about time that celebrities started catching on too.

For as long as I’ve been heading out, Primark has been my go-to for those “I have nothing to wear” moments, rushing in at the last minute to find something perfect.

And I’m definitely not alone – on any Friday or Saturday night, you’ll find plenty of shoppers doing the same thing, right before closing time.

But no matter what, Primark always delivers.

Now, Rita Ora is leading the charge, showing that you can snag a designer-worthy look without spending a fortune at high-end stores.

While Rita’s not rushing in last minute for a red carpet outfit, she’s proving you can achieve the same high-impact style for much less.

Looking stunning in her tailored suit alongside her mum Vera, Rita fit right in among the other A-listers dripping in Prada, Dior, and Victoria Beckham – if anything, she looked even better than some of the guests at The Fashion Awards.

With Myleene Klass and Roxy Horner already jumping on the Primark bandwagon, I’m sure more stars will be following suit soon enough.

A fellow shopper said: ”i’m sorry size 14??? you need 20-22 size. no hate i’m 90 kg 180 cm height. i wear size 18 in Primark.”

”the clothes are not the problem here,” someone else agreed with the majority.

”If you prefer no ”tummy lines” in clothes then that’s a preference,” another commented.

”But the clothes fit right? Yes. So your tummy is not Primark’s problem.”

”Girl it’s not the clothes, pick up a size that fits you…” a viewer told Katherine who posts under the username @thekatherinerae.

My twisted brother abused me for years, the sickening response I got when I finally told my mum meant I lost her too

IT WAS the moment Shavoughne Firth had been waiting for – finally her abuser had been caught in the act.

But as the relief washed over her, the then six-year-old could never have imagined her ordeal would take an even darker twist.

Kieran Firth was sentenced to eight years in prison for his seven-year-long campaign of abuse[/caption]

Shavoughne, 27, from Penzance, Cornwall, says that while Kieran Firth, 37, looked like a caring and protective older brother to the outside world he was a monster who abused her throughout her childhood.

Behind closed doors, he preyed on her around the family home and during bath-times from the age of five.

To add to the suffering she endured, Shavoughne claims the most painful part was that when her abuser was caught her own mother Cathy* stood by him.

Kieran was sentenced to eight years in prison for his seven-year-long campaign of abuse but it has deeply affected Shavoughne’s life, leaving her with anxiety, PTSD and depression.

Now, Shavoughne is bravely waiving her anonymity in a bid to raise awareness for sexual abuse within families.

Shavoughne, a former shopkeeper, says: “I know now I am not a victim of my brother. I am a survivor.

“I also walked out of court with no family to greet me, and not only lost my brother but also my mother too after she took his side.

“But I will continue to fight for my healing and I know I will be okay.”

INNOCENCE TAKEN

Growing up, Shavoughne lived with her parents, and two older brothers, in a large three-bed house in Penzance.

She says she always felt closer to her middle brother Alex*, who was two years younger than Kieran.

She says: “I looked up to Alex, whilst Kieran and I weren’t as close.

“Most nights after dinner, our parents went to the pub and I’d play with Alex.

“But Kieran would keep to himself, usually hidden away in his room.

“From as long as I can remember, I always thought mum favoured Kieran. He was born with a rare condition and had a hole in his heart.

“He wasn’t supposed to live past his second birthday. So he was their miracle baby.

“I also felt mum’s sons were the apple of her eye. Whilst I felt a little left behind.”

In 2002, Shavoughne was five years old when she was left home alone with Kieran, then aged 16.

Shavoughne was sitting on the living room carpet, watching the television when her older brother first took her innocence.

True Life Stories
But when Alex and Shavoughne told their mum about the abuse she didn’t believe them[/caption]

She says: “I suddenly heard Kieran heavily breathing. I turned around and saw he was behind me with his hand down his trousers.

“Kieran laid me down and put his hands in my pants. As he fondled down below, I didn’t understand what was happening.

“He told me after that Mum would never find out as it was our little secret.

“I didn’t think there was anything to tell.”

After that, Kieran preyed on his little sister around the family home whenever they were left alone.

Shavoughne says: “I would cling to my Alex often, feeling safe with him. But once everyone was out of the house, I couldn’t hide from Kieran.

“Things got worse, and he began forcing me to touch him. After two years when I was seven, he began abusing me in the bathtub too.”

RELENTLESS ABUSE

Then one night, in 2004, Kieran was assaulting Shavoughne in the bath whilst babysitting her when Alex came home early.

He heard Shavoughne’s cries and, assuming there was an intruder, bolted up the stairs.

She says: “He caught Kieran, naked, on top of me in the bath. He grabbed Kieran and they scuffled, before he pinned him to the wall, shouting.

“Yet Kieran said nothing back. Sobbing, naked, I felt ashamed and embarrassed.

“Seeing me cry, Alex wrapped a towel around me to cover me up and told me no-one would touch me again and everything would be okay.

“In that moment, Kieran managed to get away. I felt relief as I thought it was all over.

“But when Alex told mum everything as she came home that night, she said he was lying and making it all up.

“She didn’t believe him. It broke my heart. I felt betrayed and only felt I had him on my side.”

After that, Kieran stopped abusing Shavoughne after Alex had scared him off.

MUM’S BETRAYAL

Days later, Shavoughne found the courage to tell Cathy about the abuse.

Shavoughne says: “She said that Kieran was just washing me in the bath.

“I was told to never speak about it again. It was like a knife to my chest.

“Then to make things worse, Alex had to move away and we didn’t get a proper goodbye.

“I was devastated. Only two months after he left and was unable to protect me, Kieran pounced again.”

Mum told me she couldn’t cope with a son in prison

Shavoughne

When Shavoughne was 10 she started sex education at school and began to realise the true extent of her brother’s abuse.

“I wrote mum a long letter that year, telling her how I felt betrayed and isolated but nothing happened and no-one cared,” she says.

“Time passed and I again brought up Kieran and what he did during bathtimes, but she told me she couldn’t cope with a son in prison.

“Feeling guilty, I didn’t want to be responsible for destroying our family.  My voice was silenced again.”

The abuse continued until 2010, when Shavoughne was 12, and Kieran was 22. Aged 13, struggling to cope with the trauma, she tried to take her own life.

How to report a sexual assault

She was in and out of hospital and constantly pulled out of school.

She says: “I battled with PTSD, anxiety and depression from the abuse.

“My suicide attempt was a turning point. I finally found the courage to seek help and began counselling.

“Two years later, I broke free from my family, and moved out when I was 15. Although I stayed in touch with my parents, I refused to see Kieran again.

“As Mum and I still had a relationship, I felt trapped for years. Instilled with shame and still being silenced.”

At 18, Shavoughne welcomed a baby boy with her now ex-boyfriend.

She says: “I named him after Alex who would always be my hero. The only person in my life who’d ever defended and believed me.”

SEEKING JUSTICE

Fed up with protecting her family, Shavoughne cut them off and came forward to the police in 2021 aged 24.

In December 2024, Kieran Firth, now 37, of St Aubyns, Goldsithney, Penzance, was found guilty on five counts of sexual offences against a child including two counts of indecent assault, two of assault by penetration and one of sexual assault against Shavoughne.

He was imprisoned for eight years.

In court, mum sat in the public gallery taking Kieran’s side. It was horrendous

Shavoughne

Shavoughne, who now has a new partner, Kane, 40, says: “In court, mum sat in the public gallery taking Kieran’s side. It was horrendous.

“Luckily Alex showed up at court and told the jury what he’d seen in the bath that awful night.

“Lawyers tried to blame Kieran’s speech issues, a skeletal development disorder and heart condition as an excuse for abusing me. But the jury didn’t buy it.

“Now, I’m grieving as he’s in prison and also because I don’t have a mum anymore. She chose her side and stuck to it.

“I will never get over it. Not having my parents to support me through this has been the hardest bit.

“My partner Kane has been incredibly supportive though.

“Now I’m also working on becoming a mentor to help survivors of sexual abuse.”

YOU'RE NOT ALONE

EVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide.

It doesn’t discriminate, touching the lives of people in every corner of society – from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and footballers.

It’s the biggest killer of people under the age of 35, more deadly than cancer and car crashes.

Yet it’s rarely spoken of, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice, now.

That is why The Sun launched the You’re Not Alone campaign.

The aim is that by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health, we can all do our bit to help save lives.

Let’s all vow to ask for help when we need it, and listen out for others… You’re Not Alone.

If you, or anyone you know, needs help dealing with mental health problems, the following organisations provide support:

Look around the stunning paradise island with WW2 wrecks, that’s become a haven for dark tourism

A REMOTE paradise island, littered with abandoned World War II wrecks, has become a popular destination for dark tourists.

During the Second World War, battles spread to the Pacific, where Japanese and American troops fought on tiny islands.

One of these islands has now become a playground for history fans, who flock to look at the abundance of abandoned tanks and ships.

In 1944, Peleliu, a small island in Micronesia, was the site of a bloody battle between the US and Japan.

The battle raged on for almost two months between September 15 and November 27, with 10,900 Japanese troops and 1600 US troops killed in action.

It became one of the bloodiest battles to take place in the Pacific during the war, with the Americans claiming victory.

More than 60 Japanese ships were destroyed in the area, many of which remain underwater today.

Japan managed to salvage some of the ships, but those that weren’t saved have now become covered in coral and marine life, making them a haven for divers.

One of the most visited wrecks is Teshio Maru which was damaged by US aircraft during the brutal battle.

Those who venture underwater to see the shipwreck can marvel at the deck gun, which is visible at the front of the boat.

Chuyo Maru, which was hit by a US bomb is still mostly intact, making it another popular choice for divers.

An anti-aircraft gun can be spotted at the back of the boat, which lies upright on the seabed.

The Helmet Wreck, which was found by divers exploring the area, still has depth chargers on board, whilst Jake’s Seaplane is partly visible from the surface.

The island is also littered with rusty abandoned tanks, with trees sprouting out of the top and vines looping around the body.

Visitors to the island can pay to take a guided tour of the tanks, plus bunkers and an old Japanese airstrip.

The island also has a museum filled with artefacts from the battle.

Travellers can also visit Orange Beach, where US troops first arrived to the island.

And eagle-eyed tourists may even be able to spot bullets and shells in the sea or on the island.

What is dark tourism?

Dark tourism, also called grief tourism or thanatourism means visiting sites associated with disaster or suffering.

Examples of popular dark tourism locations are Aushwitz in Poland and Chernobyl in Ukraine.

This type of tourism has soared in recent years, although some experts have questioned its ethics and whether it is respectful to families of victims.

Bouchard, 31, had last played a professional tennis match in May 2024 and last featured at a Grand Slam event in the US Open qualifiers in August 2023.

But the former Wimbledon finalist was seen back on a tennis court with a racquet in hand.

Taking to Instagram, she shared a video of herself warming up on the grass and hitting some shots over the net.

Text over the video said she was warming up to play in the Hall of Fame Open.

The grass court tournament takes place in Rhode Island, USA, with women’s tennis making a return to the venue for the first time since 1990.

The 2025 edition will have the highest purse at the WTA 125 level, with $200,000 available for competitors.

It started on July 7 and will run through to July 13.

Unranked Bouchard received a wildcard for the main draw.

Unfortunately, the former world No5 crashed out of the event in her first singles game to American Anna Rogers.

However, she has fared better in the doubles alongside compatriot Olivia Lincer.

They won their first game in straight sets 7-5 7-6 to progress into the quarter finals.

Bouchard has 2.3 million followers on Instagram.
