Rory McIlroy ‘looking more like Mr Bean every day’ joke fans after revealing new look haircut ahead of Scottish Open

He got a feel for the course at the Renaissance Club on Wednesday and revealed a new haircut.

In a photograph shared to the official DP World Tour account, McIlroy could be seen sporting a short buzz cut.

It led to a deluge of comments from fans who compared him to Rowan Atkinson, who is best known for starring in Mr Bean, the Johnny England films, and Blackadder.

One said: “Rory low-key rocking the Mr.Bean cut…” while a second posted: “That’s Jonny English.”

A third said: “He obviously asked the barber for a ‘Mr Bean’”

A fourth said: “I didn’t know we needed a 4th Johnny English films, but I’m not mad at it!”

A fifth added: “Looking more and more like Mr Bean every day” and a sixth quipped: “Looks like Rowan Atkinson to me

And a seventh commented: “Why’s Rory made himself look like Mr Bean?”

The Scottish Open will be McIlroy’s first competition since finishing in a tie for sixth at the Travelers Championship last month.

The Masters champion is feeling refreshed now, though.

And he is looking forward to trying to regain a title he last won in 2023.

The world No2 said: “The one thing I would say about the last couple of weeks is I felt like I could detach a little bit more and sort of hide in a way.

“Sometimes you need that to completely get away. I feel like this world of golf can become all encompassing if you let it.

Justin Rose and I came up here together yesterday and we were just chatting about how there is a detachment from the sort of week-in, week-out grind when you get back over here, from when you play PGA Tour for that sort of first 25 to 30 weeks of the year.

“It has been lovely to get back and see some familiar faces, and is the first time back playing in the UK since what happened at Augusta, which is a really nice feeling as well.”

He added: “I don’t think I started out too well here, but I have learned how to play the course a little bit better.

“Obviously I had that great finish in 2023, then played well again last year, so I am looking forward to getting out there tomorrow.”

Mipo Odubeko nets winner as Shelbourne edge closer to next round of Champions League qualifiers with win over Linfield

TWO proved better than one for Shelbourne as Mipo Odubeko scored just moments after being given some support.

The striker had seen precious little of the ball – and not done a lot with it when he did.

And it would have been no surprise if he had been taken off when Joey O’Brien prepared to make three changes in the 56th minute.

But, instead, he was left on with Seán Boyd sent on to give him a dig out upfront in this Champions League qualifier.

Within a couple of minutes, Shels had scored the only goal with Boyd’s graft complemented by Odubeko’s guile as the Reds made it 11 home games unbeaten in Europe since losing to Olimpija Ljubljana in 2003.

Shels were more dominant than the final score suggested but they would have taken a 1-0 ahead of next Wednesday’s second leg  in Windsor Park if you had offered it to them beforehand.

Speaking of which, Kieran Offord had the Blues’ best chance when Conor Kearns cannoned an attempted clearance off him late on after Dano Kelly’s back pass left him in all sorts of trouble.

Both sides were without the player with the most European success in their respective dressing rooms with former Dundalk teammates Sean Gannon and Chris Shields both suspended.

David Healy suggested that Shields might not have started for Linfield anyway but they could have done with him on the pitch instead of the stand as they were run ragged.

By half-time, the home side had accumulated nine corners to none, hit the woodwork through Evan Caffrey who had an even better chance saved and had a penalty awarded only for it to be overturned by VAR.

Linfield? The best they could muster  before the break was a shot from distance by Ethan McGee following a stray pass by Kerr McInroy.

But the steward standing beside the sweet shop at the Drumcondra end of the ground was under more threat from his effort than keeper Kearns.

Healy had suggested his side had prepared as best as they could but it quickly became apparent that three-and-a-half-weeks’ training was inadequate to try to bridge the gap.

Presumably, the tempo with which Shels started was a considerable step-up from what they had experienced in either their 4-0 friendly win over Haverfordwest County or defeat on penalties to Dungannon Swifts in the Charity Shield.

Both managers might have been keen to stress that Shamrock Rovers’ cakewalk against Larne in the Europa Conference League in October was of no relevance to this tie.

Maybe but it soon became apparent that it was a reasonable guide of what to expect from this encounter. The only difference was that Shels lacked the cutting edge which had seen Rovers put Larne to the sword.

From their second corner, Caffrey’s header hit the top of the bar and the Belfast outfit struggled to properly clear their lines.

Eventually it came to Paddy Barrett who swung the ball in to Caffrey who was free after Euan East – who had been struck on the head by a Harry Wood shot shortly beforehand –  slipped as he tried to track his run.

Even so, Caffrey could not steer his effort beyond Chris Johns who, after his initial save, was able to gather before anyone pounced on a rebound.

Linfield’s difficulties in trying to keep Shels at bay were underlined when Joshua Archer and Jamie Mulgrew were booked in quick succession.

Mulgrew, 39, was part of the Linfield squad which beat Shels in the Setanta Sports Cup final here two decades ago but he must have sensed a repeat was unlikely.

That seemed especially the case when Luis Godinho pointed to the spot when a JJ Lunney shot struck Ben Hall on the arm.

As Caffrey and Odubeko – who had barely touched the ball – engaged in a debate as to who should take the spot-kick, the decision was checked by VAR.

And, after the Portuguese official saw that Hall had turned away from the shot, he concluded he had erred with his original call.

It was a let-off but it was not clear if Linfield were capable of making the most of it.

Caffrey had another chance when he was put through. Johns came off his line and it looked as though the ball might bounce fortuitously for the attacker but Dane McCullough did well to get back and cover.

And, just before the break, Wood failed to really trouble Johns with a shot.

Early in the second half, O’Brien opted to make a triple change with Kelly, Boyd and Tyreke Wilson sent on just after Wood had skied a shot over the bar with Caffrey, Ali Coote and James Norris all making way.

Within minutes, Shels were ahead with Boyd playing a huge part. He held off one challenge and managed to lay the ball off to Odubeko before a second sent him crashing to the ground.

His strike partner did the rest, setting himself up before burying his shot into the bottom corner.

Boyd could have doubled Shels’ advantage later on but his first-time flick from Wilson’s cross was just off-target.

The 29-year-old star is currently filming her first massive Hollywood film with Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Evans and Salma Hayak – Sacrifice, an upcoming action adventure comedy film.

The Sun can exclusively reveal that the hit Channel 4 show has snapped Ambika up, and she will appear in the upcoming Celebrity Bake Off series.

“Bosses were thrilled to sign Ambika up – she’s a fan of the show so loved doing it,” a source told us.

Channel 4 declined to comment.

Ambika left viewers in floods of tears when she starred in hit Netflix series One Day.

One Day follows university friends, Northern working-class Emma and posh Southern boy Dexter Mayhew, over 20 years.

The series sees the pair revisit their relationship every year on July 15.

Viewers were left in floods of “ugly tears” while watching the 10-part limited series for the first time.

After watching the show, which is based on a novel, fans took to X and discussed how they felt about the emotionally charged ending.

“Can we talk about the Netflix version of #OneDay now? I’ve never cried so much at a show in my life. I loved every minute,” said one person at the time.

“This adaptation is so good already I feel sick #oneday #onedaynetflix,” said another.

While a third wrote: “Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall acted the hell out of their characters good for them.

“You made me cry in an ugly way, but good for them.”

In one interview, Ambika opened up about how she relates to her One Day character Emma.

Ambika Mod's career so far

AT just 29 years of age, Ambika has a glowing career ahead - but let's take a brief look at her career so far.

After studying at university, Ambika starred in a series of small films such as Fair Bnb, Granddaughter, The Sacrifice (aka Leila Margot) and Pet Name.

Her breakthrough role then came when she played a starring role in This Is Going To Hurt where she played the role of Shruti Acharya, a struggling junior doctor.

Ambika was then chosen for the 2022 BAFTA Breakthrough cohort and received the Broadcasting Press Guild Award for Best Actress for her role in This Is Going To Hurt.

Her next role came as Emma in One Day, alongside Leo Woodall. She won the Netflix New Talent award for the role.

She said: “I do relate to Emma.

“We’re both hard grafters, people on the outskirts.

“Emma’s spent three years at the same uni as Dexter and he hasn’t really noticed her.

“I was also a bit of a wallflower growing up.

“I wasn’t invited to parties and I never won a school prize.”

Ambika comes from humble beginnings and has worked hard to get to where she is.

She grew up in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, with her younger sister Priya and their parents, who are both Indian immigrants.

HEARTFELT tributes are being paid to a young motorcyclist who died in a horrific crash last night.

He has been named locally as Dawid ‘Davy’ Kluz, 24, from Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath.

Mr Kluz lost his life in a single-vehicle collision in Abbeyleix, Co Laois shortly before 8pm on Tuesday, July 8 at the junction of the Portlaoise Road and Ballyroan Road.

Mr Kluz was well known in football circles, having played with Tullamore FC.

Paying tribute, they said: “We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our former player Davy.

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to all his family and friends during this difficult time.

“Davy will be fondly remembered by all who knew him, both on and off the pitch.”

“Davy’s bright smile lit up the building and he’ll be deeply missed and never forgotten.

“Our deepest condolences go out to all who loved Davy, especially his dad Bart and brother Matt, who are also part of our team here at Shanette.”

Christian Horner’s Red Bull allies sacked at same time as team boss in major clearout at F1 team

CHRISTIAN Horner’s Red Bull allies were sacked at the same time as the ousted team boss, SunSport can reveal.

Several senior staff at the six-time constructors’ champions were told to clear their desks as Horner was suddenly dumped after a 20-year stint at the helm of the Formula 1 giants.

Horner addressed his former staff inside Red Bull HQ in Milton Keynes[/caption]

The shock move was part of a clear-out by the team’s Austrian parent company, with Horner giving an emotional leaving speech to hundreds of his staff at their Milton Keynes HQ earlier today.

It is understood that several senior figures who were close to Red Bull’s only ever boss were also given their marching orders.

Many had been appointed to their jobs by the 51-year-old team chief, and a source called the relationships a “double-edged sword”.

Horner was replaced immediately by Frenchman Laurent Mekies, 48, who has run Red Bull’s sister team Racing Bulls since the start of 2024.

They added: “A number of staff had been brought in by Christian, and when he was told to go, they were too.

“Some of them had a very close relationship with Christian, which has proved to be a double-edged sword.

“Laurent has his own people to bring in and his own vision for the team.

“He is far more anonymous.”

Earlier today, Horner gave a tearful speech and received a minutes-long standing ovation from staff.

The firebrand team principal admitted his removal was a shock, but told engineers and designers he was proud of their success.

He told them: “I was informed by Red Bull that operationally, I would no longer be involved with the business or the team moving forward.

“It came as a shock to myself.

“I’ve had a chance to reflect over the last 12 hours and wanted to stand in front of all of you to break this news and to express my gratitude to each and every single member of the team that has given so much during the last 20-and-a-half years.

“Watching and being part of this team has been the biggest privilege of my life.”

Horner will remain employed by the company, where he is thought to make £9million-a-year, but is effectively on indefinite gardening leave.

The official departure of Red Bull’s only ever team principal was announced shortly after he finished saying his goodbyes and left.

Horner was the longest-reigning F1 boss, having taken charge of the Austrian team when it was bought from Jaguar in 2005.

In May, he batted away rumours he would join Ferrari, declaring: “It’s always flattering to be associated with other teams, but my commitment is with Red Bull.”

HORNER SCANDAL TIMELINE

By Isabelle Barker, Sports Reporter

Red Bull chief exec Oliver Mitzlaff takes seriously and Horner strongly denies accusations.

Horner says the team have been “tremendously supportive”. Verstappen says his relationship with Horner remains “very good”.

28 February, 2024 – Horner cleared of all charges

A statement from Red Bull GmbH read: “The independent investigation into the allegations made against Mr Horner is complete, and Red Bull can confirm that the grievance has been dismissed The complainant has a right of appeal.”

29 February, 2024 – Whatsapps leaked

Just 24 hours after he was cleared, WhatsApp texts and pictures were leaked from an anonymous source – to FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem, F1 chief executive Stefano Domenicali, the sport’s nine other team principals and members of the media.

2 March, 2024 – Horner and Halliwell hand in hand

The former Spice Girls singer puts on a united front with her husband as Verstappen soared to victory in the opener in Bahrain.

Horner declared he is “absolutely confident” he will stay on as Red Bull boss for the remainder of the season, while Red Bull’s majority shareholder, Thai billionaire Chalerm Yoovidhya, also joined the duo on the team’s terrace in a public show of support for Horner.

3 March, 2024 – Jos Verstappen takes aim

Verstappen’s father, Jos, claimed the team is “in danger of being torn apart” if Christian Horner remains in his role.

Verstappen Snr, also said the team would “explode” if Horner remained in his position, and denied being the source of the leak.

8 August, 2024 – Horner cleared for second time as appeal dismissed

During the F1 summer break, the appeal from a female colleague alleging “inappropriate behaviour” from Horner is dismissed, clearing him for a second time.

The complainant was suspended on full pay before launching an appeal but, on 8 August, her appeal was thrown out following another investigation by a different independent KC – with Red Bull adding that their “internal process has concluded.”

9 July, 2025 – Horner sacked.

Horner was accused of sending suggestive WhatsApp messages that were later leaked.

The Brit vehemently denied the bombshell claims made by a female colleague about his behaviour.

In February 2024, Horner was cleared of any wrongdoing after multiple probes.

He had spent a tumultuous three weeks fighting for his career after a female colleague alleged controlling and coercive behaviour by the boss.

The probe later investigated him allegedly sending improper messages to a woman.

A KC cleared Horner for a second time in August after the unnamed accuser launched an appeal following the internal probe.

Spice Girl Geri Halliwell stood by Horner despite reportedly being left “in floods of tears” when the scandal broke and was supported by pals, including her fellow Spice Girls.

A source said at the time: “This has been weeks of hell for Christian and his family.

“As he has said all along, these claims are ‘nuts’.”

Toni takes savage dig at ex Harrison as she moves on with new man in dramatic Love Island recoupling

LOVE Island’s Toni got revenge on ex Harrison in tonight’s dramatic recoupling.

There was no love lost between the exes, who had had a tumultuous time before the villa was separated into two for Casa Amor.

Toni said she felt “sick to her stomach” before picking Cach and said they had a better connection than her and Toni.

She said: “For the first time during this process I’m putting my own feelings first.”

Taking aim at Harrison, she then said, “maybe he shouldn’t have ruined my birthday” referencing Harrison’s kiss with Helena on her big day.

Harrison then stepped out with new girl Lauren and told Toni she looked happy and complimented her new man.

He said he had a spark with Lauren that was missing with Toni, to which Toni said: “It’s life, hey… I can’t wait to hear your recoupling speech.”

There was then a bit of needle between Cach and Harrison after the former said Toni was now in a more “mature boundary”.

Harrison hit back: “What does that mean?”

Viewers fear Cach might be using Toni, though, and fear she could be left heartbroken.

“This dude with Toni sounds a bit desperate,” said one person on X after watching Cach get to know her.

“I feel like Cach is just saying anything,” added a second.

“I’m not sold on toni & cach, but anyways, go off,” penned a third.

However, he now has the chance to change their minds, having made it into the main villa.

I was dreading my baby’s first flight but a 45p buy kept her occupied for 3 HOURS & made zero mess, it’s genius

A FIRST-TIME mum dreading flying with her baby daughter has shared how she got through it without any tears

Lala, from Germany, took to social media to share her genius parenting hack just in time for any summer holidays you have planned.

Woman holding a baby at an airport gate.

Lalkal was nervous for her daughter’s first flight[/caption]

And the best part is that the travel hack costs just 45p.

In the clip, Lala and her partner could be seen boarding the plane with their baby asleep in her mum’s arms.

She said: “This was her very first flight and we timed it perfectly with her nap. She slept right through takeoff but eventually she woke up.”

So how did the parents keep her entertained for the three hour flight? Lettuce.

Lala said they often give their tot lettuce when they’re trying to eat in peace, so decided to try it on the plane.

“It always keeps her occupied for so long. And I thought, if it works at home, why would it not work on a plane?” she explained.

Like most kids, her daughter was obsessed with tearing things up and trying to put them in her mouth.

“Like bread, paper, tissue, anything. But bread is way too messy, like there are crumbs everywhere,” she explained. And with paper or tissue, we always have to keep an eye on her that she doesn’t eat it. But lettuce?

“Lettuce is genius. It has a really fun texture and it’s not messy at all. And it’s safe if she decides to munch on it. Not just safe, but it’s actually a really refreshing and healthy snack for her.”

“This kept her occupied almost the entire flight.”

But she found a genius way to keep her entertained[/caption]

While Lala’s easy travel hack was worth giving a go, it’s worth noting that some airlines may not let you bring it on, depending on what country you are flying to.

Others may not let you bring it into the country when you land so you’ll have to chuck it away.

But that won’t matter too much as the hack costs just 45p as two heads of lettuce cost 90p from Waitrose.

The clip quickly went viral on her TikTok account @lalaleluu with over 1.7 million views and 267k likes.

Plenty of parents took to the comments thanking her for the advice.

One person wrote: “Wow this is genius. About to take my baby on her first flight alone and I might try this.”

How to make travelling with kids a breeze

IT can be stressful travelling with kids, but there are a few things you can do to make it easier. Here's five we'd recommend:

Snacks

It might sound simple, but it’s a good idea to pack a LOT of snacks. Think of how much you might need, and double it. After all, it doesn’t matter if you have too much – your kids can eat it another time – but it will be a big issue if you run out. There are also snack boxes with lots of little dividers that are great for long journeys as kids can pick at those throughout.

Entertainment

This covers a whole range of things – from a tablet to watch films or play games if you’ve got older kids, to books and colouring. It’s advisable to pack a variety of options, especially if you’re on a long journey or have various legs on your haul.

Toys

If you’ve got a baby or a toddler, there are some sensory-type toys you can buy that can really help keep little ones entertained. These include ones that you stick on the windows of a plane, or on a tray on a highchair, that they can spin and play with to their hearts’ content.

Equipment

There are a whole host of things on the market that aim to make sleeping on a plane loads easier. These include a hammock that you can attack to your tray which hangs down to put your feet on. You can also get blow up cushions to turn a seat into a bed for littles, and neck cushions that boast you will be able to use for a decent night’s sleep wherever you are.

Yourselves!

Don’t underestimate how entertaining you are to your kids. Learn some games you can play with them, and songs you can sing, as kids always love the opportunity to have one-on-one time with their parents.

Another commented: “I have a 14 hour flight with my baby next month. I’ll just bring a whole field.”

“You, Lala, have just unlocked a whole new toy for all of us mums out there thank you,” penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “This is some next level parenting!! Bravo!!”

“Genius idea,” claimed a fifth

Someone else added: “This is such a good idea!!”

Sandra Devine, 36, accidentally won £300k – she intended to buy her usual £100 National Lottery Scratchcard, but came home with a much bigger prize.
