Seven-time All-Ireland winner with Dublin transfers to Meath GAA club in big boost to their prospects

FORMER Dublin corner-back Eric Lowndes has transferred from St Peregrine’s to St Peter’s Dunboyne.

The seven-time All-Ireland winner has already made his debut for his new club too as he came off the bench during Sunday’s 3-10 to 1-12 victory versus Wolfe Tones.

He has strong ties to the club and area as his brothers Stuart and Craig play their football with Dunboyne while he went to school there.

The club hasn’t lifted the Keegan Cup since 2018 though they did make the county final in 2021 where they lost to Wolfe Tones.

Adding the longtime Dublin defender, 31, to their ranks will strengthen their chances of making it back to the decider this year.

His former county teammates meanwhile, have an All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final date this weekend with Cork.

Dublin’s footballers and hurlers are set for a Saturday Croker double header, with the Tailteann Cup semis penned in for Jones’ road on Sunday.

The Sky Blues face Limerick in the All-Ireland SHC quarter-finals at HQ at 4pm, before they entertain the Rebels at 6.15.

Dessie Farrell’s men were drawn to face Cork on Monday as the race for Sam Maguire enters knockout football.

Munster champions Kerry will look to bounce back from their shock loss to Meath when they host Cavan in Killarney at 3.30pm.

And Galway’s All-Ireland SHC quarter final clash with Tipperary will be played at Limerick’s Gaelic Grounds on Saturday evening at 6.15.

A bumper Sunday will see Ulster champions Donegal and Leinster kingpins Louth face off in Ballybofey at 4pm.

That’ll be a repeat of last year’s All-Ireland quarter-final which Jim McGuinness’s men won 1-23 to 0-18.

Galway’s prize for their last-gasp win over Armagh on Saturday is a trip to Newry to face Conor Laverty’s Down at 1.45.

And Croker will roll out the red carpet for the last four of the Tailteann Cup as Wicklow get the ball rolling against Limerick at 2pm before Kildare’s clash with Fermanagh at 4.

Shoppers left divided over the latest Sainsbury’s clothing range that is giving ‘Victorian nightgown’ vibes

THE LATEST Tu clothing range at Sainsbury’s has left fashionistas divided, as some shoppers reckon the pieces belong in the ”Victorian” era.

The mega supermarket has seriously upped its fashion game in the recent years and this season is no exception.

While the fashionista said the dress wasn’t ”awful”, she was horrified to discover that ”everything had long sleeves and ruffles”[/caption]

But while some have been loving their ”jaw-dropping” summer frocks and a ”stunning” holiday dress that ”fits like a dream”, the latest collection has sparked a fierce debate online.

According to one shopper, only known as TikToker @thingbe, the new ”modest” range felt like walking ”into the wardrobe department for the Handmaid’s Tale”.

Despite ”usually” liking Sainsbury’s fashion aisle, the recent trip to the store left her confused, as everything ”has long sleeves and ruffles”.

The horrified shopper – whose mum, 50, allegedly felt ”the same” – also reckoned that some of the trending pieces could be passed as ”Victorian undergarments”.

One of these was a white blouse in a loose cut with tie detailing at the front, flowy arms and a V-neckline.

Sharing her brutal verdict in a video, the TikToker joked: ”Blouse from 2025 or Victorian undergarment? I cannot tell.”

Another item that had landed in the list was a light green broderie ruffle blouse, currently slashed from £20 to just a tenner.

Despite the fabulous deal – and some sizes already sold-out online – the TikToker couldn’t understand why the blouse had ”so many frills”.

”And for a summer blouse, the material felt so thick,” she slammed the retailer on the platform, adding the design of the item made it look like ”lettuce”.

The popular supermarket has also added a broderie mix tiered midi dress in white – which bargain hunters can purchase for £44.50, down from £89.

This elegant white dress is crafted from high-quality cotton, ensuring both comfort and breathability -a win for the sweltering temperatures.

But while the versatile style allows for easy pairing with accessories, the customer felt the frock looked like ”a Victorian nightgown now, minus candlestick and nightcap”.

The TikToker went on in the comments: ”Like I prefer my clothes with a bit more coverage and looser, but this was next level.

”What I’m commenting on is the growing trend that everything seems to be more conservative.

”Online, in store, whichever.

”It leaves very little choice for those who don’t want to dress in this style.

Plus, it doesn’t just come down to coverage, when I say modest I also refer to cuts, colours, lack of patterns.”

She added: ”I can appreciate a good vintage style item, but these just aren’t appealing.

”And I don’t think it’s a generational thing either, my mums around 50 too and she thought exactly the same as me.”

How to look chic on a budget

Fashion stylist Gemma Rose Breger, and beauty journalist Samantha Silver revealed how you can make your outfits elevated without spending hundreds of pounds.

  1. Don’t ever spend on designer denim: River Island ”always has such a great selection of fashion-forward jeans that follow the current trends”. The high street retailer offers a great range of sizes to fit UK 6 – UK 18, and three leg lengths – and prices start from an affordable £25.
  2. There are no rules for jewels: ”Pick up something at a car boot sale, or charity shop, scroll on Vinted & eBay, snap up something from the clothing section in your local supermarket when doing the food shop or check out high street clothing stores.”
  3. Don’t forget the pre-loved sites: With a rising number of second-hand sites, such as Vinted and Depop, there’s no excuse for not buying – or selling – pre-loved garments. Gemma, for instance, has managed to get her hands on chic Chanel sunnies for a mere £17.

‘The trad wife fashion is coming in’

The video, posted less than 24 hours ago, has already taken the internet by storm, winning the shopper 15k views – and leaving many divided.

Dozens flooded to comments – and whilst some agreed with the original poster, others sided with Sainsbury’s.

One person reckoned: ”I don’t think it’s about looking modest, I think it’s more about what styles are trending.”

Another thought: ”Recession usually means more modest clothes and behaviour – then roaring and wild after.”

”I wrote my dissertation on the links between fashion and politics and status. The trad wife fashion coming in as more conservative politics is on the rise is no coincidence,” a student shared their opinion.

”I think you’re not their target audience, which is okay as plenty of other shops with less modest styles around,” someone else penned.

Inside the WORST house late star Kim Woodburn cleaned up – and her priceless reaction

KIM Woodburn delivered some of the best comedy TV gold moments – including the time she cleaned the ‘FILTHIEST’ house in Britain.

TV icon Kim, who rose to fame on Channel 4‘s hit series How Clean is Your House?, passed away on Monday, aged 83.

Kim and Aggie were left open-mouthed by the mess[/caption]

Many fans are remembering Kim for her telly charm and charisma – and there is one episode of her iconic show in particular that fans will recall.

Kim and former co-star Aggie MacKenzie, who paid a touching tribute to her old friend yesterday, visited a couple in Penzance, Cornwall who were in desperate need to transform their junk and filth-filled cottage.

The hit Channel 4 series, which ran for 6-years from 2003 to 2009, showed the pair tackle filthy homes, offering cleaning tips to viewers along the way.

There was usually no job too big or small that Kim and Aggie couldn’t tackle.

But when Kim entered this property, she gasped in horror and reeled at the stink and flith.

She then turned to co-star Aggie and delivered a typically robust reaction: “Dear God, this is a rathole, isn’t it?”

A confused Kim then asked: “How does she cook?,” before spotting a hob hidden under piles of rubbish.

Aggie was left equally repulsed and exclaimed: “Oh the stink.”

As they ventured through the property, Kim looked disgusted at the sight of huge cobwebs, floors and furniture littered with clothes, junk and rubbish and a TV set caked in thick dust.

She took her finger and wrote the word “filth” on the dusty screen.

After initially being left horrified, the pair got to work disposing bags of rubbish and rolling their sleeves up to get rid of the dirt.

In true Kim fashion, she was able to leave her mark on the house after transforming it into a spick and span haven.

On Tuesday, the TV favourite and a much-loved personality was flooded with tributes after her death was announced.

They included fans watching the Penzance episode online.

One said: “Rest in Peace, Kim. A true national treasure. You will be missed” while another added: “Iconic. Legend. Will never be forgotten.”

A representative for Kim announced the news, saying: “It is with immense sadness that we let you know our beloved Kim Woodburn passed away yesterday following a short illness.

“Kim was an incredibly kind, caring, charismatic and strong person.

“Her husband Peter is heartbroken at the loss of his soulmate.

“We are so proud of the amazing things Kim achieved in her life and career.

“We kindly ask that Kim’s husband and close friends are given the time and privacy they need to grieve.

Her How Clean is Your House co-star Aggie lead the tributes, writing: “Kim was a tormented soul, but now she’s finally at peace.

“We clashed often. Behind the fierce persona was deep pain and incredible strength.

“She survived because she had to. I hope she’s resting now. She was an unforgettable woman.”

The domestic goddess who got Britain scrubbing

By Alun Palmer

SHE was the Queen of Clean long before influencers like Mrs Hinch and Marie Kondo.

Kim Woodburn, the domestic goddess who got Britain scrubbing and organising their homes died yesterday, age 83.

Along with friend Aggie MacKenzie, she pioneered the TV genre with How Clean Is Your House?

The pair would don their rubber gloves and go into the most disgusting homes to help out the owner with Kim’s catchphrase ‘scrub dear, don’t
tickle.”

Becoming a beloved television star was not really on the cards for the young Hampshire girl.

She was brutally honest about her incredibly difficult childhood and how she overcame them to become one of TV’s highest paid
presenters.

Born Patricia McKenzie in Eastney, Portsmouth, just before the end of the Second World War she was physically abused by both her mother,
Mary, and father, Ronald.

Kim said: “I have no memory of him ever kissing me or holding me in his arms like I saw other dads doing with their children.

“He never once sent me a card on my birthday or a note to say he was missing me.

“My mum didn’t really care very much. I was the youngest of two daughters and my mother, who drank a lot, made it clear she preferred
my sister Gloria to me.

“My mother’s favourite expression was, ‘If I’d known what you were going to be like, I would have sent you back’.”

As she grew older she learned her father was a serial womaniser who ‘had a reputation for being as randy as a butcher’s dog.’

He then started sexually abusing her.

She said: “My dad was a Royal Marine and a rough and naughty man.

“He’d have a touch of the old naughty bits with me when he could get away with it. I was very young and I remember my mum used to beat
me with the carpet brushes.

“I never told her, I didn’t know how to. When I was a little girl, we didn’t discuss that.”

Kim went on to star in a number of shows including I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in 2009 and Celebrity Big Brother in 2017.

She also regularly appeared on ITV’s Loose Women and This Morning.

Her husband posted a sweet video on Instagram this morning, captioned: “My wonderful, beautiful, Kim passed away last night. God bless, my love, xx xx.”

Tributes have today flooded in for the reality TV star who was a “force of nature”.

Speaking on today’s This Morning, Nick Ferrari said: “I was thinking those two [Kim and Aggie Mackenzie] in a way, they were sort of the almost like the female equivalent of The Hairy Bikers.

“They were so genuine – you could see the bond between them.

“The fact that they were so true shone through to the viewers, and I think that’s why they were regular genuine folk behaving in that fashion, and that’s why people like them. Very sad news.”

Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard rounded off the segment by saying: “It was a light that burnt very brightly and very strongly at times, was our Kim Woodburn.”

X Factor legends Jedward said: “Rest in Peace Kim Woodburn you will forever be our Celebrity Big Brother Friend!

“We grew up watching you and to share those memories together you will be truly missed for the TV gold you created for all generations.”

Talent agent Craig Johnson-Pass wrote: “Thank you for all the amazing, fun, wonderful times. You weren’t just a client you were a friend. Will miss you Kim, fly high.”

Her death comes weeks after cancelling work commitments due to health concerns.

Kim had been offering personal video greetings to her loyal followers for £25 a pop after also selling clips on the Cameo platform.

But earlier this month she told her social media followers: “No more videos for now, my loves, I need to get better!”

A post on her Instagram account read: “We regret to tell you that Kim is unable to record any further videos for the foreseeable future, due to a health problem.

“Kim sends her love to you all.”

She also recently went under the knife for surgery on her eye, and a post on her Instagram said she was unable to record videos for the “foreseeable future” due to the health issue.

Her last video was posted on Valentine’s Day. She said cheerfully: “Hello my loves!

“I hope you are all okay and keeping well.”

Love Island fix row as fans say ‘it’s obvious’ who Harrison is picking after he ‘gives away’ who he’s sending home

LOVE Island has found itself in a fix row as fans claim “it’s obvious” who bombshell Harrison will pick, and who he’s sending home.

Last night’s explosive episode saw the new Islander faced with choosing between Toni and Malisha, after they both found themselves single in the latest recoupling.

They both then went on a date with new bombshell Harrison, who would ultimately decide who will return to the villa and who will be going home.

Viewers watched as the footballer sat down to meet both of the girls.

After watching both dates play out, fans immediately picked up on a HUGE clue who Harrison is going to chose to couple up with, and who will be dumped from the villa.

During his date with Toni, it was revealed that they both attended the same college in Florida, which fans think make it “obvious” he is going to pick her.

Viewers also picked up on the fact that they had “more chemistry” than he had with Malisha, and said this “gave away” who he will choose.

Plus, before going in the villa, Harrison said he found “American girls more attractive than British ones” – and Toni is from the US.

Fans immediately headed to X/Twitter to share their theory, with one saying: “They set up Malisha omg sending in a guy who lives in America and likes American girls wtf #LoveIsland.”

“Lives in Miami? This is our guy for Toni #LoveIsland,” said another.

This one tweeted: “I feel like his date with Toni went a bit smoother than with Malisha and they obvs have a better connection but who knows…”

Another said: “He has way more chemistry with Toni plus he loves American girls and they went too the same college – so obvious.”

Meanwhile, fans were also equally unimpressed that the show had ended on a cliffhanger.

This means they now have to wait until tonight to find out who Harrison chooses, and who gets dumped.

Again, venting on social media, one person penned: “WTF is that ending Love Island.”

Another added: “Aye aye aye I wanted to see his decision on today’s episode! Editors! Producers!”

A third shared: “I hate the way this show ends some times. Why does it end like that???”

A fourth remarked: “Harrison will obviously go for Toni …we know how this goes.”

While a fifth chimed in: “Itv you give a whole hour of nothing and ends the episode like this?”

“I REALLY HOPE HE PICKS TONI”, another commented.

It comes as The Sun revealed hunky footballer and model Harrison would be the latest bombshell.

A source said: “Harrison couldn’t arrive in the villa at a better time as all the promising, early couples are looking fractured and it’s looking likely he’ll have heads swivelling.”

Harrison played soccer at the University of New Hampshire but back home played in defence for Derby County’s youth side.

Brit mum in car chase & thrown in JAIL in Turkey after smashing hotel shower while celebrating boyfriend’s new teeth

A BRITISH mum says she has been “trapped” in Turkey for almost seven weeks after smashing a hotel shower screen on a drunken night out.

Georgia Harrison, 32, claims hotel staff chased her to the airport before she was arrested and stung with a £15,000 bill.

The cleaner, from Rochdale, Greater Manchester, admitted she had made the “worst mistake of my life” but said she needs to get back home to be with daughter Poppy, 12.

Georgia and partner Arron Tighe, 32, flew to Antalya on May 2 and were due to leave on May 7.

But as they celebrated Arron’s new veneers, Georgia downed vodka and cocktails before accidentally shattering a glass screen in the hotel bathroom.

She thinks the booze mixed with prescribed antipsychotic medication caused her to black out.

Georgia told The Sun: “I don’t even remember it but I smashed the screen.”

Panicked, the couple left the Lexia Hotel the following morning and got a cab to the airport to fly back to the UK.

Georgia said their taxi was blocked in by three cars before the worried cab driver called the police, who then arrested them.

A hellish ordeal then erupted as they were put in a prison cell and questioned without a lawyer.

The mum-of-one said she refused to answer questions until she had a British-speaking lawyer, which led to her being accused of resisting arrest.

Georgia was then hauled into court after being left in a “cell with 300 men” and was banned from leaving the country until she coughs up £15,000 for the hotel.

She said: “I’m trapped, I don’t have £15,000.

“I’ve paid my lawyer, paid for hotels, I’ve paid for my rent back home. I’ve tried loads of ways to get out but I’m getting nowhere. I’m at a brick wall.

“I know I’ve done wrong but it’s killing me. I need to get home for my daughter. She rings me and asks when I’m coming home. It’s heartbreaking.

“There’s nothing I can do to change it, it’s horrible.”

Georgia has been in contact with the British Embassy in Turkey, which told her they are unable to help lift the travel ban.

But in fear of indefinitely being held, Georgia has tried other means of leaving the country including trying to get a boat to Greece.

Each time, a passport check has stopped her.

She added: “I need to get home to my child now.

“My lawyer said to wait until it goes to trial, but it’s waiting until then. We have no idea when they could be.

“I can’t afford to keep living here. I’ve sat in silence for more than six weeks but I’ve suffered and nothing’s changing.”

Her sister has set up a GoFundMe page in a bid to raise £9,000 to help get the mum back to the UK.

Georgia said: “I can’t even click on it because I’m so ashamed.

“But I don’t know what else to do.

“My lawyer sent a surveyor to the hotel who said the damage is worth no more than £1,000 and that’s with labour.

“My lawyer offered £3,000 to settle but they’ve refused it.

“I just want to get home.”

‘I didn’t like what happened’ – Pep Guardiola in dig at Kyle Walker decision as four-man Man City captain group chosen

PEP GUARDIOLA aimed a dig at Kyle Walker after revealing his four-man captaincy group.

The Manchester City boss confirmed his new set of skippers for the 2025-26 season.

Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, speaks with Kyle Walker during a match.

It comes after the shambles last year which saw the players pick Kyle Walker – only for the full-back to quit the club midway through the season to join AC Milan on loan.

Guardiola admitted he was not pleased with how the situation unfolded.

So this time around, he has taken matters into his own hands and appointed his captains – rather than let the squad choose.

With Walker’s set to leave and part-time captain Kevin De Bruyne released, Guardiola has opted for Bernardo Silva, Rodri, Ruben Dias and Erling Haaland as his leadership quartet.

Guardiola explained: “I’m the manager. This season, for the first time in my career, I decided it would be my captain.

“I didn’t like what happened last season and I decided this season who will represent the team.

“Sometimes I want to be the boss, and this season I decided to do it, so I chose the four captains and at the end of the Club World Cup, maybe we will choose one or two more.”

Pressed on Haaland’s promotion aged just 24, Guaridola added: “He’s so young, right, but he has to start to learn what it means to be a captain, because he will be here, hopefully, for many, many years, and that’s why, sooner or later, he will take that position as the first one.

“I think when you have Bernardo, you have Ruben, and you have Rodri, plus Gundogan, they have been unbelievable captains for us, he will learn.

“He’s incredibly respected, he’s an important figure for us.

“Thinking about the future of this club, he has to start to learn what does it mean to be a captain.”

Haaland could take the armband during the Club World Cup, with City beginning their campaign against Wydad on Wednesday.

But one man who won’t be involved is Jack Grealish.

The £100m record signing was left out of the squad for the United States with his City future in doubt.

Guardiola revealed it was decided it was best that Grealish “didn’t come here” as he looks to resolve his future – and gave the playmaker advice on how to reignite his stagnating career.

SunSport revealed Napoli have joined Newcastle, Bayer Leverkusen and Everton in the race for Grealish’s signature.

Should he end up at Everton, he may well be reunited with Walker.

SunSport also told how the right-back has agreed a one-year deal at the Hill Dickson Stadium – after Milan opting against making his loan switch permanent.

But she is unlikely to have been fazed working with such a huge star having grown-up with plenty of famous faces in her own home.

The 19-year-old’s dad is a famous actor whilst she counts a Game of Thrones star as a brother and a UK pop legend with plenty of number ones as her sister – but do you know who she is?

Britain’s newest nepo-baby is in fact Teddie Allen.

She is the daughter of Keith Allen and the sister to Alfie and Lily.

Smile singer Lily is arguably the most famous of the Allen clan thanks to her glittering global music career.

She rose to fame in 2006 with her chart-topping album, Alright, Still, and quickly rose up the ranks to become one of music’s biggest stars.

Lily, 38, has since released a total of four albums, has toured the globe alongside artists such as Miley Cyrus, played at Glastonbury and even carved out a stage career as an actress.

More recently, she has become a podcaster too thanks to her BBC show with TV presenter pal and fellow nepo-baby, Miquita Oliver, the daughter of TV chef, Andi Oliver.

Whereas brother Alfie had his big break in the hit TV show, Game of Thrones.

He played Theon Greyjoy in each of the programme’s series from start to finish.

37-year-old Alfie has also enjoyed roles in John Wick and JoJo Rabbit.

Rising star Teddie has already opened up on her nepo-baby status by admitting that as a child she was regularly the one to take snaps of her famous relatives with their fans when they were stopped out on the street.

Discussing growing up as part of the Allen clan, Teddie previously told The Sunday Times: “When I was at junior school, older girls started asking me if my mum and dad were on telly or if Lily Allen was my sister. That feels a bit weird when you’re little.

“When we were out shopping people would run up to my dad and call him ‘a legend’ or ‘a hellraiser’. If they wanted a selfie it was usually me that ended up taking it.

“I wanted to say, ‘You might think he’s a legend and a hellraiser, but did you know that he calls me into the living room to get the TV remote from the coffee table because he’s too lazy to get off the armchair?”

“As I got older it all started to make sense. I’d see pictures of him with Alex James from Blur or Jennifer Saunders, Neneh Cherry. There’s a picture of me in the kitchen with Shaun Ryder from the Happy Mondays.”

Teddie continued to the publication: “Then there’s Alfie and Lily. I used to love going to Lily’s house because she had a swimming poolNick Grimshaw was there one day and taught me how to dive.

“Foolishly, when I was about 11, I started googling my family and wish I hadn’t. There was even some horrible stuff about me, saying how awful my name was.

“I didn’t know these people, so what’s it got to do with them?”
