Ireland to sizzle in huge 29C heat blast as Met Eireann forecast ‘very warm sunshine’ & temps hotter than Canary Islands

IRELAND is set to bask in sizzling temperatures this week as forecasters have predicted a 29C heat blast to hit in some areas.

And the scorcher will leave Ireland hotter than Canary Islands, with the holiday hotspot only enjoying heat in the low 20s.

Today “very warm sunshine” is set to hit with 26C expected in some areas across the country today.

Meteorologist Cathal Nolan from Ireland’s Weather Channel revealed we will experience a “very warm or hot weather” until Sunday.

He said: “Temperatures are on the rise right the way across the country today, with values by this afternoon reaching up to 25C over the southern half of the country where skies will clear early and long spells of warm summer sunshine develop.

“Temperatures will continue to climb tomorrow with long spells of sunshine developing once again after some initial cloud in a few spots.

“Friday remains warm or very warm with highs again reaching up to 27C or possibly 28C in one or two favoured locations with plenty of sunshine developing once again across the country.”

Meanwhile, Met Eireann have promised temperatures are set to reach 20C to 29C countrywide on Friday with spells of “high summer sunshine.”

They said: “Friday, will be a very warm or hot day overall, dry with spells of high summer sunshine, but the odd heavy shower may break out.

“Pretty humid as well with top values of 20C to 29C in mostly moderate southeast breezes with the hottest conditions likely towards the north of Ireland.”

Saturday brings some warm sunshine but also a scattering of heavy showers, most of those in across the western half of Ireland.

Highs of 23C to 24C are expected but there’s also the risk of the showery spells of rain.

Met Eireann added: “Winds change though on Sunday with fresher breezier conditions with showery spells of rain.

“Some heavy bursts here and there with top values of 15C to 20C with best values towards the east and that comes with brisk westerly winds.

“And early next week bringing similar conditions with sunny spells and scattered blustery showers for Monday and Tuesday.

“And possibly wet weather following for Wednesday and Thursday to though brief and misty foggy start, but with warm sunshine developing widely.”

Meteorologist Nolan added that early indications suggest that the weather next week will be more unsettled.

He said: “Early indications suggest that next week will be more unsettled with low pressure to our west or northwest, high pressure to our south or southeast and a warm, humid southwesterly airflow covering Ireland with some rain forecast, but also some warmer, drier interludes in what is likely to be rather typical Irish summer conditions.”

SWITCH TO COME

Forecaster Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather added that there’s a huge “uncertainty” for Wednesday and beyond.

He said: “There is a chance that we could see some low pressure systems for a little while before high pressure hopefully builds back.

“But enjoy that warm sunshine, don’t forget the sunscreen and be careful around water.”

Salzburg were 1-0 up when the referee called a halt to proceedings in the 54th minute.

Officials were concerned about the conditions with electrical activity forcing them to stop the match.

US safety protocols mandate sporting events are suspended for at least 30 minutes if there is thunder and lightning.

Salzburg beat Pachuca 2-1 but the match took more than three hours to complete, sparking worries for the World Cup next year.

It comes after kick-off was delayed for another Club World Cup clash between Mamelodi Sundown and Ulsan HD.

Fans were a little taken aback by the incident and some thought about the implications for the World Cup, which takes place between June and July next year.

One reacted saying: “Can’t be having this in the World Cup next year.”

Axed Love Island girl breaks silence after savage dumping and reveals how she really feels about Harrison picking Toni

THE latest dumped Love Island star has insisted they “don’t regret anything” and “did what I needed to do” after their fiery villa stint.

The beauty, 24, was given the boot in a tense ITV2 re-coupling ceremony which saw newbie Harrison Solomon, 22, choose Toni Laites, 24, instead.

Love Island fans are already demanding Malisha Jordan return to the Mallorca-based show as a Casa Amor bombshell.

Yet she has broken her silence about her short show stint – and given her take on Toni, the first American on the UK series.

She addressed her gameplan on entering the villa and making a play for Dejon, much to the annoyance of his show partner Meg.

Meg’s savage attitude towards Malisha – as well as her catty comments towards the late villa entry – caused a stir with viewers.

Yet Malisha has told she was intent on giving it back.

She said following her exit: “I don’t regret anything, I did what I needed to do as a bombshell.

“Sometimes the reactions were a bit uncalled for.

“I did go into the first chat with an open mind and I said I don’t want to have any arguments.

“Then it just got heated. I’m not here for the drama… a lot of it was miscommunication.

“Dejon was telling her one thing and telling me another. It was a mix up that wasn’t necessary. They act like they’re not closed, but they are closed off.”

Addressing her feelings before her exit, she confessed: “I thought, ‘You’re done, you’re getting dumped!’

“I didn’t obviously know there’d be a shock reveal that someone else would be coming in and I would have a second chance.

“All day me and Toni were joking, ‘I’ll see you in Vegas’. So I just thought, ‘Meh, bittersweet.’”

DUMPING WOE

New Islander Harrison was faced with choosing between Toni and Malisha, after they both found themselves single in the latest recoupling.

After the footballer chose Toni and Malisha was dumped, fans went wild.

Yet Malisha has now addressed the moment, which has not ye been shown on screen, and said: “He’s very good to look at, I feel like we had a lot of chemistry.

“Did he make the right choice? We’ll soon find out…

“But I love Toni, she is an amazing girl. I feel like we have the same banter and the same fierceness about us.

“I love how real she is, she’s such a lovely girl. So, no hard feelings, no bad blood.”

I was fed up of birds pooing on my kids’ trampoline so came up with a genius hack to stop them for £3.24

A MUM has been praised after coming up with a £3.24 hack to stop birds pooing on her kids’ trampoline.

Anna admitted she was fed up with the constant messes on the outdoor play equipment, so ordered one of the spiky wire strips that can go on top to stop birds from sitting there.

While her kids love their trampoline, the messes that are left on it are a pain for both those bouncing and those left to clear it up[/caption]

However, when she started using cable ties to attach it to the trampoline, she had a brainwave.

“On putting them up with cable ties and thinking I’ll cut them to add extra spikes, it dawned on me that I could have just used cable ties all the way round set at different angles and heights,” she wrote alongside her post on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group on Facebook.

“So a hack if your fed up of the bird poop as well without spending £25!”

People in the comments section were quick to praise Anna for coming up with the genius hack, with one calling it a “fabulous idea”.

“What a great idea,” another added.

“I paid a fortune for real metal spikes to stop pigeons tap dancing on my Reiki Therapy Summer house.”

“Brilliant idea, I have a trampoline to put up but haven’t yet because of seagulls and the other birds,” a third commented.

“They are getting to be a pain now.”

“That’s a fantastic idea!” someone else said.

And as you can get a pack of 100 cable ties for just £3.24, the hack won’t break the bank either.

While others defended Anna against the trolls slamming her for the idea, suggesting that it could end up harming either her children or the birds.

“Watch out you will get the bird police on your back!” one wrote.

“I asked for advice on a gardening group on here to prevent birds sitting on our fence and causing serious damage with their pooping and I got full on abuse.

“I have no problem with wildlife I love nature but not when it stops my children from using our own garden.”

“Anyone would think you’ve put razor wire up with the comments your getting!” someone else added.

“As she has stated it’s soft plastic to try and deter birds sitting on there.

More parenting hacks

IF you want to make your life easier as a first-time mum, here's nine hacks you won't want to miss.

1. Routine Charts

Create visual charts for daily routines. Use pictures and stickers to make them engaging for younger children.

2. Meal Planning

Plan meals a week in advance to save time and reduce stress. Involve your children in meal prep to teach them cooking skills.

3. Toy Rotation

Keep a portion of toys stored away and rotate them periodically. This keeps playtime fresh and exciting without the need for constant new purchases.

4. DIY Cleaning Solutions

Make child-safe cleaning solutions using vinegar and baking soda. It’s effective and keeps harsh chemicals away from little hands.

5. Time-Out Jar

Create a time-out jar filled with calming activities written on slips of paper. When emotions run high, children can pick an activity to help them settle down.

6. Educational Apps

Utilise educational apps and websites to make screen time productive. Look for ones that offer interactive learning in subjects your child is interested in.

7. Command Centre

Set up a family command centre with a calendar, key hooks, and a bulletin board. It helps keep everyone organised and aware of daily schedules.

8. Emergency Kit

Keep a small emergency kit in the car with essentials like snacks, water, first aid supplies, and a change of clothes. It’s a lifesaver for unexpected situations.

9. Label Everything

Use labels for clothes, school supplies, and lunch boxes. It makes it easier to keep track of belongings, especially in shared spaces like schools.

“Kids can get hurt simply tripping over a shoe lace. It’s not the end of the world.

“Get a grip people. A pogo stick is 100x more dangerous than them soft plastic spikes around the top of the trampoline!”

Anna also defended herself, writing: “These are not nails. They are not sharp!

“It’s a 12ft trampoline and they are sitting on the top – I’ve jumped on it as high as I can.

“And due to the nature of the slope on the netting and bars, I go nowhere near them.

“I’m hardly setting my kids up to impale themselves. Seriously!

And some people used the comments section to share their own tips and tricks for keeping birds off their trampolines.

“Put a fake owl on your trampoline and birds won’t go near it!” one said.

“Two years we have had no birds since putting up the owl.”

“I use bunting and works well,” another added.

“Try spraying neat white vinegar, keeps them off mine,” a third commented.
