Shocking moment Magaluf doorman floors Brit tourist, 25, with flurry of punches after being bottled in horror bar attack

THIS is the shocking moment a Magaluf doorman floors a British tourist with a flurry of punches after being bottled in a horror attack.

The bouncer was left with a nasty gash that needed at least 20 stitches – and the Brit has been convicted over the assault at Plaza on the bustling Punta Ballena strip.

CCTV footage shows the Lithuanian bouncer exploding at Max Barnes, then 19, who he has up against a wall after the drinker bottled him.

He unloads a series of sharp jabs in the packed nightspot, acting in self-defence.

The customer dodges as many as he can but some of the blows land home.

They spill over into the middle of the bar, when the bouncer delivers one more clean whack that sends the customer sprawling onto the floor.

He then brings his hand to his blood-covered face and neck to inspect the damage.

The 34-year-old doorman was left with a gash wound needing 20 stitches, according to public prosecutors.

Prosecutors had demanded a five-year prison sentence for Barnes, now 25, who was held on an international arrest warrant after being bailed and going awol.

The Brit, a teen at the time of the July 2019, claimed after his arrest by Civil Guard officers that he himself had acted in self-defence following a previous assault.

But this week he was handed an 18-month suspended prison sentence after admitting the unprovoked attack as part of a plea bargain deal.

Barnes, who had already paid his victim nearly £35,000 in compensation, admitted his guilt in a trial where he spoke briefly via video conference.

The trial judges said they took into account his confession and compensation payments in their decision to keep him out of jail – as long as he doesn’t re-offend.

The obtained CCTV footage did not show the moment Barnes used a broken bottle to disfigure the doorman.

But it did show the run-up to the attack when the Lithuanian man, in a tight white T-shirt, could be heard arguing with the Brit after telling him to leave due to misbehaviour.

The Brit was held in the UK on an international arrest warrant after initially paying £13,000 bail to get out of prison and flying back home.

Officials in Majorca issued the arrest order after he failed to respond to court communications.

Public prosecutors said in their pre-trial indictment they had uncovered no evidence of the previous attack Barnes had alleged took place and claimed he was defending himself against.

A female British soldier was involved in another horror glass attack in a Magaluf nightclub in November 2023.

Bus driver’s daughter Sydney Cole was arrested when her pal, Scots-born Lance Corporal Sarah Garrity, was left in intensive care after losing four pints of blood and needing 14 stitches to a neck wound.

Cole was warned initially she could be jailed for three years after being charged with a crime of wounding by Spanish state prosecutors, despite her victim’s refusal to press charges.

However, she ultimately escaped prison and was let off with a £780 fine.

Cole, now 25, initially insisted after her arrest that Sarah was hurt in an accident.

She claimed to have thrown the the glass on the floor during the fight, and said shard flew up and hit Sarah in the neck.

However, she later confessed to the assault as part of a plea bargain deal.

The first incident is a multi-vehicle crash happened between Junction 1a Newlands Cross and Junction 1 M50/N7 in Dublin.

Lane three has been affected.

Traffic bosses are warning “delays may occur” due to this multi-vehicle collision.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland said: “Some delays to your journey may occur.

“When approaching the collision location, drive with caution, reduce your speed and please obey instructions from emergency services.”

And on the M50 northbound is facing major delays this morning following an incident between Junction 6 M50/N3 and M50/N4, Dublin.

But the incidents has now been cleared, but drivers may still see some delays.

Traffic bosses also posted a congestion report on social media warning of some major delays on Irish roads.

Posting on X, they said: “Congestion report: M50 Northbound: J11 – J6 M50 Southbound: J5 – J7 & J11 – J12.

“Delays on routes approaching Dublin: N2 (S) Finglas, N3 (E) Blanchardstown. N4 (E) J3 – J2, N7 (E) J4 – J1a.

“Currently there are no delays on routes around Cork.”

CLEAN UP

But the rest of the M50 motorway is clearer than usual this morning following the clear up of two earlier incidents.

Hours ago, a pedestrian on the M50 between Junction 16 Cherrywood and Junction 15 Carrickmines (Northbound) has affected the hard shoulder.

And in a separate location, debris on the road caused delays to traffic.

This occurred on the M50 between Junction 12 Firhouse and Junction 13 Dundrum (Southbound).

RAIL DELAYS

And Irish Rail passengers are facing disruptions this morning on Limerick to Ballybrophy via Nenagh routes.

The issue arose following “a signalling damage” due to an ESB fault.

And replacement bus transfers will operate “until further notice.”

Posting on social media to alert passengers this morning rail bosses said: “Limerick to Ballybrophy via Nenagh: Replacement bus transfers will operate until further notice. Due to a signalling issue on this route.”

As a result of this the bus transfers are in place from Limerick to Ballybrophy.

Rail bosses have said that three bus routes have been placed for commuters following this disruption.

They added: “Bus transfers will operate: 9am Ballybrophy to Limerick via Nenagh. 5.10pm Limerick to Ballybrophy via Nenagh. 7:05pm Ballybrophy to Limerick via Nenagh.

“Repairs are taking place following signalling damage due to an ESB fault.”

‘G’day mate’ – Watch Donncha O’Callaghan & Tommy Bowe’s hilarious skit as Lions fever ramps up before Aviva Stadium game

DONNCHA O’Callaghan can’t wait to say “G’day” to the Lions Tour officially kicking off on Friday – even if his Aussie accent could do with a little refinement.

Andy Farrell’s charges begin their 10-game slate against Argentina at the Aviva Stadium before heading Down Under.

Similarly, Tommy Bowe was a two-time tourist in 2009 and 2013[/caption]

Ahead of the 2025 edition of the rugby tradition getting officially underway he and fellow Irish legend Tommy Bowe were joined by Lions’ CEO Ben Calveley on their podcast.

In order to promote that chat Donncha donned his best Aussie Outback hat and channelled Mick Dundee, Alf Stewart and whomever else you’re having yourself.

Farrell yesterday named his starting XV for Friday’s 8pm kick-off.

The headline item from it was that Tadhg Furlong looks set to be handed a chance to prove his fitness, albeit off the bench.

The prop has not played since Leinster’s Champions Cup semi-final defeat to Northampton because of a calf injury.

He is joined in the replacements by Rónan Kelleher, the only other Leinster player involved because they were involved in the URC final win over Bulls at the weekend, in which the hooker came off the bench.

There are still three Irish players in the starting XV with 2021 tourists Bundee Aki of Connacht and Munster’s Tadhg Beirne included, along with Finlay Bealham who was added to the squad after Scotland’s Zander Ferguson was ruled out through injury.

Aki and Bealham’s provincial teammate Mack Hansen is also included among the replacements.

Farrell has not included any Bath representatives with the side involved in the Premiership final against Leicester Tigers on Saturday.

Lions captain Maro Itoje will skipper the side for the first time and Farrell said: “It is a truly special moment and one that very few players ever get to experience.

“Maro has led the group well during our time in Portugal and then Dublin this week.

“This is also our first opportunity to show what the 2025 Lions are about and what we want to stand for as a team.

“We know that Argentina will challenge us up front and out wide – so Friday night will be a tough contest, but also a great occasion for all the fans.”

After their first outing on Irish soil, the Lions will travel to Australia ahead of the three-Test series against the Wallabies.

Lions: M Smith (England), Freeman (England), Tuipulotu (Scotland), Aki (Ireland), van der Merwe (Scotland), F Smith (England), Mitchell (England), Genge (England), Cowan-Dickie (England), Bealham (Ireland), Itoje (England), Beirne (Ireland), Curry (England), Morgan (Wales), Earl (England).

Replacements: Kelleher (Ireland), Schoeman (Scotland), Furlong (Ireland), Cummings (Scotland), Pollock (England), Williams (Wales), Daly (England), Hansen (Ireland).

Meghan Markle’s ‘condescending’ take on A-list pal’s success exposed as body language pro says shes full of ‘contempt’

A BODY language expert has claimed Meghan Markle is full of ‘contempt’ over one of her best A-list friends’ global success.

The Duchess of Sussex was recently interviewed by Emma Grede, co-founder of Skims with Kim Kardashian and podcast host for Aspire.

The two women sat down for a chat, covering family life for Meghan and Prince Harry as well as her ventures after leaving the royal family.

But the topic soon moved on to one of Meghan’s closest A-list friends, Serena Williams, who has amassed a £260 million fortune.

Meghan, 43, name-dropped the Grand Slam champion, telling Emma: “My dear friend, Serena, as you know…” before Emma cut her off excitedly saying, “I love Serena.

“She’s like my girl crush, talk about a successful entrepreneur, by the way.”

“Oh yeah,” Meghan replied with her eyes closed.

Body language expert, Jesús Enrique Rosas, who analysed the interview for his Instagram account, The Body Language Guy, claims this is where things take a turn.

He said: “You saw that? You spotted it?”

“That ‘Oh yeah,’ was extremely condescending.

“And I spot there’s a bit of contempt in that smile.”

He explained that the left corner of her mouth was pulling higher than the right, indicating negative emotions.

He also pointed out that when Meghan says the tennis super star is ‘Doing so well,’ that she turns her jaw to one side and almost grimaces.

The body language expert claims the facial expression suggests Meghan is thinking, ‘Why are we talking about Serena?’

Serena and Meghan first met at the 2010 Super Bowl, when the New Orleans Saints took on the Indianapolis Colts, before reuniting for a Celebrity Beach Bowl tournament, where they ‘immediately’ hit it off.

Meghan wrote on her now-defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig: “We hit if off immediately.

Meghan Markle's ventures after stepping down as a working royal

THE Duchess of Sussex has kept busy since stepping down as a senior working royal in 2020 and relocating to California. Here are some of her business ventures...

  • Archewell Foundation – A nonprofit supporting charitable initiatives.
  • Netflix Deal – Producing content like Harry & Meghan and With Love, Meghan.
  • Archetypes Podcast – Former Spotify show on female stereotypes.
  • Clevr Blends – Investment in a women-owned wellness latte brand.
  • Cesta Collective – Minority stake in a handbag brand supporting Rwandan artisans.
  • As Ever – Previously known as American Riviera Orchard lifestyle brand selling jam.
  • ShopMy Page – Online store featuring her curated fashion and beauty items.
  • New PodcastConfessions of a Female Founder focusing on entrepreneurship.

“Taking pictures, laughing through the flag football game we were both playing in, and chatting…

“Not about tennis or acting, but about all the good, old-fashioned girly stuff.”

Since their chance encounter, the two have been close friends, supporting each other publicly.

Serena was also the first person to appear on Meghan’s Spotify podcast Archetypes, which was cancelled after just one season.

She was also one of the first people to defend Meghan for her controversial Oprah Winfrey interview about leaving the royal family.

In a statement on Twitter after the interview aired, Williams described her as a ‘selfless friend’ who ‘teaches me every day what it means to be truly noble’.

“Her words illustrate the pain and cruelty she’s experienced,” Serena wrote.

In more recent months, Serena attended Prince Harry’s Netflix polo match.

She was seen giggling and gossiping with the Duchess on the sidelines of the Sentebale Polo Cup in Miami, Florida.

I’ve had major hair loss since being on fat jabs and hate my bald patches, so tried 3 budget hacks to cover them up

IT’S been a miracle drug for me – helping me shed six stone in eight just months.

But one major side effect I’ve found from taking Mounjaro is the extensive hair loss.

I’ve lost six stone in eight months taking Mounjaro, but have also suffered with hair loss[/caption]

Handful of brown hair.

With huge clumps coming out when I wash my hair, and when I brush it[/caption]

While, like the majority of people, I’ve always lost some hair in the shower, these so-called ‘fat jabs’ have taken it to a whole new level.

According to hair extension guru Victoria Lynch, founder of Additional Lengths/ Remi Cachet, there’s been a “noticeable uptick” in women experiencing hair thinning recently – one reason for which is the popularity of weight loss injections.

“While these medications can support weight loss or diabetes management, a side effect some users report is increased hair shedding or thinning,” Victoria says.

“This can be especially distressing when compounded by the natural hormonal shifts during midlife, leading to noticeably finer hair at the crown and hairline.”

Victoria is also having lots of consultations with women suffering hair loss due to hormonal changes such a perimenopause.

So being on Mounjaro, plus the fact I’m perimenopausal at the age of 41, means that seeing clumps of my locks in the plug after a shower is my new norm.

And while I’m loving my newly-slim figure, I’m incredibly self-conscious about the bald patches that have become even more noticeable in recent months.

They’re even more obvious when I pull my hair back into a messy mum – my preferred ‘do as a busy mum of two.

So in a bid to try and cover them up I tried three different hacks, and they’re pretty budget friendly too.

Powder puff

LOPHE Instant Hairline Powder in Light Brown, £5.99, Amazon

This was the first hack I tried, and I bought it after seeing the 824 four star ratings it had on Amazon.

And given that it’s just £5.99, it’s the second cheapest of the products I used.

While a messy bun is my daily hairdo of choice, it also massively highlights my hair loss[/caption]

I tried out an Amazon £5.99 hair powder first of all, and was pretty impressed with the results[/caption]

It comes as a powder, which looks like an eyeshadow at first glance, with two different size applicators.

There’s a smaller one if you’ve got tiny patches to cover, or you want to use it along the hairline, and a bigger sponge-type applicator for any larger sections.

While the shade is too dark for my hair – which is between a brown, copper and dark blonde – it was less noticeable once I’d gently rubbed it into my scalp and hidden the line between my real hair and the darkened patches.

Another downside is that the powder doesn’t come in quite the right shade for me.

But, with 12 colours available, it may just be that I’m between the two browns.

Overall, this was a good point to jump off from, but not my favourite.

Hair Loss 101

HAIR pro Samantha Cusick has revealed everything you need to know about hair loss.

Why Does Hair Loss Happen?

Hair loss can be influenced by so many factors, from genetics and hormone changes to lifestyle choices.

Stress, diet, and even hair care habits can all impact hair strength.

It’s perfectly normal to lose some hair each day, but sometimes the body can shed more than usual, responding to things like hormonal shifts or even life stressors.

Why It Happens More This Time of Year

Have you ever noticed your hair seems to shed more in autumn? That’s seasonal shedding!

During summer, we hold onto extra hair to protect our scalp from the sun.

As the weather cools, it’s like our body recalibrates and lets go of those extra strands.

Dry, cooler air can also make hair more brittle, making it easier to lose a little extra volume during these months.

Hacks and Affordable Buys to Treat Hair loss

The great news? You don’t need to spend a fortune on pricey treatments to support your hair.

Try daily scalp massages—they’re so simple but really help boost blood flow to the follicles.

Castor oil is another fantastic, budget-friendly option that’s rich in nutrients to strengthen your strands.

Adding a bit more protein to your diet and a biotin supplement can also work wonders for overall hair health.

Products to Avoid

Steer clear of products with high levels of alcohol, sulphates, and parabens – they can be drying and damage hair over time.

Heat styling and chemical treatments can also cause breakage, so try to use them sparingly.

Instead, look for gentle, hydrating formulas to support your scalp and keep hair healthier through the seasons.

Spray away

Josh Wood Colour Airbrush Root Spray in Brown, £5, Boots

Another alternative to the root powders is a spray.

The Josh Wood one is just one of the options – but doesn’t exactly push the boat out when it comes to colours available.

In fact, there are just TWO available – brown and blonde.

And, unfortunately, the brown could be seen as soon as I sprayed it on.

The transfer also isn’t great – my hands were brown after about two seconds of trying to rub it in.

Not too impressed with this one, I have to admit.

Rating: 1 out of 5

The Josh Wood Airbrush root spray doesn’t have a big enough colour range for me – so was much too dark[/caption]

supplied
Meaning it looked patchy and obvious once I’d applied it[/caption]

L’Oreal Paris Magic Retouch Spray in Golden Brown, £9.99, Boots

This was by far the best option in terms of colour, for me, as well as longevity.

It also didn’t seem to be too heavy when I applied it – and didn’t transfer either, even when I rubbed it in with my fingers.

I used my brush to blend it in a bit more, and was chuffed when I saw how well it had concealed my bald spots.

And when it comes to variety, there are nine shades to choose from, so it should work for a range of different hair colours.

While some other options I’ve tried make the hair feel crispy once it’s applied, this was barely noticeable – and I pretty much forgot about it until I washed my hair the next day.

This is definitely going to be one of my favourite products going forward – especially as I’ve got no intention of giving up the Mounjaro any time soon.

Rating: 5/5

One place the hair loss is most noticeable is at the side – right where my hairline begins[/caption]

But the L’Oreal Magic Retouch spray worked an absolute treat – and was the best one in terms of a colour match for me[/caption]

A touch of luxury

16” clip-in deluxe set in shade 4/8, £125, Additional Lengths

While there are tonnes of budget options out there for concealing bald patches, for anyone with a bit more money to spend, hair extensions could be an option.

I spoke to the lovely Victoria at Remi Cachet for some advice on getting extensions which, she says, can “restore confidence without compromising your hair’s health when done correctly”.

After a consultation and a colour match, I went for the 16 inch clip in extensions, in the shade 4/8.

At £125, they certainly aren’t a budget option, and also weren’t particularly advisable for my Mounjaro/perimenopausal hair loss.

However, the confidence I suddenly had when I popped the extensions in was unmatched.

I still haven’t quite mastered the art of putting them in, and think that when I have, they’ll look even more natural.

But the novelty of having long, luscious locks isn’t going to wear off anytime soon, that’s for sure.

And I’ll make sure I don’t rely on these too heavily, wearing them just for special occasions rather than on a daily basis.

Rating: 4/5

The Additional Lengths clip-in extensions certainly aren’t cheap, but they gave me an unmatched instant hit of confidence[/caption]

Tradesmen quoted me £2.5K to wrap my kitchen cupboards so I did it myself for £62 instead and it looks so good

A WOMAN who was quoted £2,500 to wrap her kitchen cupboards has shown how she managed to do it herself for just £62.

Maisie explained that she wanted to transform her “glossy white” kitchen, as it felt “clinical and dated”.

But Maisie got a “bit cocky” when she started on the kitchen island, which was relatively easy to do
tiktok/@maisabellaa

But when she received the whopping quote, she decided to try and see if she could DIY it.

She purchased the rolls of wrap from Dunelm for £5 each, as well as £7 worth of tools to help her.

“I went for a dark wood effect, because honestly, I asked AI to show me what it would look like, and it looked so good!” she said in a video on her TikTok page.

She was a “bit too cocky” at the beginning of the makeover job, as she started with the kitchen island – which didn’t have “any grooves or anything funky” going on.

But when she got to the drawers and cupboards, which all have a U-lip handle at the top, she hit a stumbling block.

“I was like, okay, I can see why people charge the amount they do, because this is not easy!” she admitted.

She then enlisted the help of her hairdryer to get the wrap properly applied, but urged people not to look at the finish inside.

“It looks all right from the outside, and that’s really all that matters, okay?” Maisie laughed.

There were some more difficult areas, including around the fridge, but Maisie was able to go around and touch up any areas that needed up thanks to the “forgiving” design on the wrap.

“As well as little gaps to fill in, the other issue that I had was lots of bubbles,” she admitted.

“I just went around with a pin, and then scraped all the bubbles away.

“They’re not all gone, but most of them are!”

Showing off her finished makeover, she said: “I’m actually so proud of myself.

“Like, you can’t tell me that this doesn’t look good! Honestly, who said girls can’t do DIY?

“I think it looks really good, but now my issue is that I want to change the work tops.”

She added in the video caption: “Honestly so proud of myself that I did this for under £100, even if it cost me my patience and sanity!”

What are the biggest kitchen trends of 2025?

The kitchen is the heart of every home and this year it’s taking centre stage, Tracy Coleman, Product Director at High Street TV told Fabulous.

Hardworking appliances

Space-saving essentials are needed in every room of the house, and the kitchen is no exception, meaning appliances are often doing double (or triple) the job.

Expect to see air fryer ovens that roast, bake, and fry or blenders with attachments for everything from chopping to grinding.

Health and wellness
With people becoming more mindful of what they eat and how it impacts their well-being, kitchen appliances are stepping up to
meet the demand for healthier, more balanced lifestyles.

Air fryers remain hugely popular, along with blenders and juicers that retain nutrients.

Energy-bill conscious
Finally, with rising energy bills and an increased focus on sustainability, people are turning to appliances that help reduce power consumption and keep costs down.

More people are finding joy in cooking at home as a cost-effective
way to enjoy delicious, nutritious meals. Cooking at home doesn’t just save money—it’s also a fun way to bring the family together or experiment with new recipes.

With the right tools, such as multi-functional appliances and smart kitchen gadgets, creating meals at home becomes easier, faster, and more satisfying.

People then flooded the comments section to praise Maisie for the makeover, with one saying: “Omg you did exceptional over those drawers!!!!”

“Well done and you give me the idea now,” another added.

“You have the patience of a saint, I could never,” a third admitted.

“I bought 5 rolls of this exact one in Dunelm & I’ll be honest I backed out and returned them because I wasn’t confident!” someone else sighed.

“So proud of you well done looks brilliant!!”

“I just could not! I wanted a change in mine, so I started with changing the handles,” another wrote.

“I made a mess trying to get the old ones off and could never work out how to get the one off the dishwasher cupboard,” someone else said.

“So old ones went back on and the kitchen is never being touched again.”

It had previously been claimed negotiations over an extension were not going well, with Real Madrid keeping tabs on the situation.

However, according to The Athletic, Lewis-Skelly is now on the verge of signing a lucrative new deal to keep him at the Emirates.

It’s reported the deal, negotiated by his mother and agent Marcia Lewis, will see him land a substantial pay rise to make him one of the best-paid youngsters in world football.

Mikel Arteta is said to have been crucial in the talks.

The deal will be the teenager’s first since putting pen to paper on his first professional deal when he turned 17 in October 2023.

Lewis-Skelly played in the Hale End academy primarily as a midfielder.

But when he broke into the Gunners’ first team earlier this season, he starred as a left-back, though he often inverted into a more familiar midfield role.

His debut came in the 2-2 draw with Manchester City in September, before going on to play 39 times in all competitions, scoring once and adding three assists.

Lewis-Skelly’s impressive breakthrough season saw him earn an England call-up by Thomas Tuchel during the March international break.

He scored in his first senior Three Lions game against Latvia, making history as the youngest debutant to do so aged 18 years and 176 days.

The PFA have also announced he is in the running for the Young Player of the Year award, after being nominated alongside fellow Hale End graduate Ethan Nwaneri.

They are up against Chelsea new boy Liam Delap, Aston Villa‘s Morgan Rogers, Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez and Dean Huijsen, who left the Cherries and has already made his Real Madrid debut at the Club World Cup.

They face a trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United start the season in a Sunday 4:30pm kick-off on August 17.

They are also in a race against time to land their top striker targets as they eye a major deal for the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko.
