Shocking moment woman screams at neighbour before torching Land Rover because she thought his badgers killed local cat

THIS is the dramatic moment a woman screams at her neighbour and torches his Land Rover over a bitter badger row.

Graham Lee, 56, saw his Freelander engulfed in flames after his neighbour tried to murder badgers living on his driveway.

Susan Lupton, 63, dubbed her neighbour the “evil badger man” and believed the animals – which he fed – were responsible for killing a local cat.

In creepy CCTV footage before the inferno, sparked in the coastal village of Freshwater Bay on the Isle of Wight, Lupton can be seen spying on Mr Lee’s property.

She walks down stairs outside her house, wearing an apron and smoking a cigarette.

With her phone in hand, Lupton appears to film Mr Lees’ house.

After pacing back and forth, she stands eerily still and stares at the home with a look of fury.

More videos taken at the scene of the blaze, on June 20 last year, show Lupton scream” your badgers kill cats” and her neighbour.

The arson caused £18,500 worth of damages, with Lee’s Freelander left as a burnt out shell.

Another property was also damaged as the fire spread to a neighbouring house.

When police questioned Lupton, who has bipolar disorder, having a manic episode, she confessed: “I did it, I’m responsible”.

She said she’d started the fire to get rid of the badgers.because she thought they’d killed her neighbour’s cat.

Isle of Wight Court heard Lupton had ignited a plastic container filled with white spirit before sliding it under the car.

Lupton, who moved to the UK from South Africa in 1980, claimed she had learnt how to start the fire from a firefighter friend.

Prosecuting, Joanna Staples, told how the vehicle was completely gutted and a window, guttering, cooker extractor and a tree were all damaged beyond repair on a neighbouring property.

Lee, a wildlife volunteer, would leave food out for the badgers on his driveway.

But the animals haven’t returned to the property since the fire, he said.

In a victim impact statement, Lee said that Lupton was “sick, twisted and a manipulative individual”.

He added how she had left him constantly checking his security cameras out of fear she may appear on his driveway with some matches.

Lee went on to add that his Land Rover was his “pride and joy” and said Lupton’s actions had ruined his life.

He told the court Lupton posted videos online of her throwing bricks at badgers and lacing bowls of food with glass.

Neighbour Kavita Hayton, whose home was damaged by the incident, said the attack had left her “genuinely frightened” and in “a state of fear for many months”.

Defending, Jonathan Underhill, told the court his client had a single conviction for criminal damage on her record and that she had bipolar disorder.

He asked the judge to give Lupton a suspended sentence to help with her rehabilitation.

Judge James Newton-Price said the victims had suffered a “terrifying experience” and Lupton had developed a “fixation” and had become “irrationally obsessed”.

The judge added during sentencing: “You say you are horrified for what you’ve done.

“I believe you have a realistic prospect of rehabilitation, and that imprisonment would reverse your progress.”

Lupton was ordered to pay costs of £1,000 and compensation of £7,835.

She was handed two years’ imprisonment, suspended for two years and was given a restraining order to stay away from Lee.

In addition, Lupton has been banned from the village of Freshwater indefinitely.

Vile paedo who abused sister over 1k times back on Irish streets after jail release as victim fears bumping into monster

A DEPRAVED paedo who sexually abused his sister over 1,000 times has been released from prison.

Kenneth Cooke, 62, was freed from Dublin’s Mountjoy Prison after he was jailed in 2015 for abusing his sister Michelle, 49.

He targeted her when she was aged between 7 and 11.

He was also caged for 14 years in 2016 after he was convicted of abusing two boys.

Although both sentences ran concurrently, he’s now free after serving more than 10 years in prison due to time served.

Following his release, Michelle told of her ongoing trauma.

She said: “I was informed by email on Thursday morning that he was being released – I have been dreading this day for years.

“I’ve no idea where he is staying but I hope he isn’t near any children.

“He’s no longer my brother – he’s just a paedophile.

“I hope I don’t bump into him in the city and I hope he complies with the conditions of his release.

“He has never shown any remorse for what he did and someone like him never changes.”

Cooke has to notify Gardai of his address and is on the sex offenders’ register for life.

He is also ordered not to have any contact with his sister.

Speaking prior to the sicko’s release, abuse survivor Michelle told of her fears that the beast had targeted other children in the south Dublin area in the past.

She added that if Cooke “has targeted other young potential victims over the years, I would ask them to come forward”.

She said: “They shouldn’t have to suffer in silence.

“I will be really shocked if there are no other victims.”

Before his release, Michelle also took a civil case against him to prevent him accessing funds from the sale of their family home.

She added that “a predator like him will never change”.

‘This isn’t right’ – Ex-Irish Olympics boss urged to stop Central Bank’s ‘genocide bonds’ amid Israel siege on Gaza

A DIRECT appeal has been made to former OFI President Sarah Keane to stop the Central Bank facilitating Israel bonds.

The Central Bank of Ireland is the sole authority which facilitates the sale of so-called ‘genocide bonds’ in the European Union.

This is set to be renewed in September but more than 300 sports people – including Dublin football captain Con O’Callaghan and former Ireland international James McClean – have signed an open letter to Keane.

Keane was the President of the Olympic Federation of Ireland between 2017 and 2024 and is credited with overseeing much-needed reform in the organsiation.

She remains the CEO of Swim Ireland and is a Central Bank board member which has prompted Sport for Palestine to make a direct appeal to her.

Former Leinster player and prominent activist Trevor Hogan said: “Without trying to make it personal to Sarah but Sarah is involved in swimming and you know obviously she’d have an awareness of what it’s like to compete and to play sport.

“For my own self, it really hits home when I think about what’s happened to sport on top of everything else, on top of the starvation, the forced displacement and everything.

“There’s no sport, it doesn’t exist, every facility has been destroyed and all sporting teams have been either subject to killings or just shut down so, from that, how can we not have some sort of sanction on the people who are doing that, which is the Israeli state, who are still involved in all sorts of sporting activity, they travel freely.

“We have a chance to say, ‘No, we’re not going to contribute to that continuing genocide’, and we can actually appeal to Sarah from a sporting point of view.

“It’s not necessarily even a sanction, it’s just a little bit of a signal to say, ‘Hold on, we need to review this, this isn’t right’.”

Sport for Palestine said they had written to all 10 members of the banking commission, including Keane, individually on three occasions to make their case.

They also contacted the commission itself. The only response it received was in relation to that communication.

It referred to its governor Gabriel Makhlouf’s statement in front of an Oireachtas committee last month when he said the UN’s Genocide Convention applied to the Irish state rather than the Central Bank.

But Hogan added: “They maybe thought they could put it to bed and hide it. For me, it feels like they’re hiding behind the regulations, whereas there’s a wider legal interpretation that they could take.

“Most reasonable people would say ‘Yeah let’s do that and let’s take a step’.”

Hogan took part in an attempt to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza in 2011. Asked if he could have seen things worsen to the extent they have, the four-times-capped Ireland international said: “I probably didn’t think it would be this bad.

“I didn’t think that the genocide would have got to the level where they wiped out every university, every school. Every hospital has been attacked.

“I didn’t anticipate that but I do think that has brought it to a turning point in a way. The mask is off on what they’re trying to do, the mask is off in who is supporting them in terms of America and Trump so now we have a choice now because of that clarity.

“It’s ‘right where do we stand now?’ so it’s not this ‘both sides’ anymore, ‘Well if I say this about Palestine, I have to balance it with this’.

“No one needs to do that anymore, they know where to stand so let’s push hard like we did with South Africa in the apartheid era where everyone knew the kind of right and wrong there and we’re at that stage now.”

Hogan also voiced his dismay at the rejection of visa applications for a group of 33 kids and 14 adults from the West Bank who are due to travel to Ireland on a two-week GAA tour next Wednesday.

He said: “We got a Gaza kids group here in 2015-16. A lot of those obstacles were put in place but we managed to get through and it was just so uplifting to see the outcome of that when the kids came over.

“Show a little bit of leeway, it feels like they’re artificially making it difficult but we keep going, keep appealing to them because there is time for it to still happen.”

I forked out £2k on a blackout privacy fence – but I forgot about an important step & now everyone can still see in

NO ONE wants nosey neighbours being able to peep into their garden, especially during the hot summer months.

That’s why this homeowner decided to fork out to get some privacy trees installed in her garden.

Small trees with few leaves planted in front of a fence.

Some people said the trees might work next year, but not everyone was so sure[/caption]

Jenny Marriner took to TikTok to show off the trees, but she made a big mistake.

Despite paying £2,000 for the trees, which were allegedly sold as privacy trees, Jenny didn’t realise she’d have to wait for them to grow in to reap their full benefits.

“When you pay £2k for some ‘privacy trees’ but they have about four leaves on each one,” she captioned the clip.

In the viral video she showed the trees, which had been freshly plated along the garden fence.

But rather than mature trees with all the leaves she was expecting, the trees offered little in the way of privacy.

But after sharing her fury online people told Jenny she was foolish to expect more.

“You should have paid £4k for mature trees then,” one person slammed in the comments.

Another agreed: “You need to give it a few years, be patients, it will be worth the wait.”

But some thought it was unlikely the trees would live that long.

“Roots are going to destroy the rendered block work in a few years, if they survive that long not being planted in the ground,” one said.

Meanwhile, others were much more hopeful for Jenny’s purchase, and encouraged her to wait it out.

“Container grown trees don’t grow much the first season. Wait until next year, should be better,” one said.

If you do want to add some privacy to your garden, these tips will help.

Paul Parker, CEO of plants and perennials specialists J. Parker’s, said privacy can be achieved using plants.

Block sight lines

An arbour, pergola or gazebo are all easy ways of increasing privacy if you’re overlooked by upper windows.

Cover any of these structures with beautiful climbing perennials or trailing plants to truly create your own natural private space.

arieties such as clematis, climbing hydrangea, and wisteria, are great for adding privacy to your garden, also these climbing perennials are flowering vines that will come back year after year.

Cover up fences with evergreen climbers

If you want to disguise fences, balcony railings or rooftop spaces, evergreen climbers are a fantastic solution.

Star Jasmine would be my top choice, it’s a hardy, vigorous grower with glossy evergreen foliage, so it’s the perfect all-year-round cover.

In summer, it bursts into fragrant, star-shaped flowers that fill your garden with an enticing scent.

Add bushy potted plants

Growing bushy potted plants helps give you the cover you need, and they’re mobile so you can move them around whenever you like.

It’s an easy way to improve privacy that also adds a good dose of foliage to your outdoor space.

Choose plants that have a good width spread to grow a privacy wall of foliage.

How to create privacy in your garden

CREATING privacy in your garden can be achieved in a number of ways depending on your budget, and the size of your space. Here are some effective ways to enhance privacy in your garden:

1. Fencing

  • Install a tall, solid wooden or vinyl fence. This is one of the most straightforward ways to gain immediate privacy. Or use lattice panels, trellis, or slatted fencing to add a decorative touch while still offering privacy.

2. Hedges and Plants

  • Fast-growing evergreen shrubs or trees like Leylandii, Thuja, or Bamboo along the boundary of your garden can help with privacy. Grow a dense hedge using plants like Boxwood, Privet, or Laurel. It may take time to grow, but it provides a natural and green privacy screen. Use climbers like Ivy, Clematis, or Wisteria on fences or trellises to create a lush, green privacy barrier.

3. Outdoor Curtains

  • Hang outdoor curtains around pergolas, gazebos, or patios for an easy-to-adjust privacy solution.

4. Sound Barriers

  • A water fountain or small waterfall can help drown out noise, adding to the sense of privacy. Or install fencing designed to reduce noise if privacy from sound is also a concern.

Erling Haaland rides banana boat on Ibiza holiday as Man City star enjoys pre-season break after Club World Cup

ERLING HAALAND was seen making a splash as he enjoyed some time in the sun following the Club World Cup.

Haaland and his Manchester City team-mates crashed out of the new-look tournament in the last 16 following a shock defeat to Al-Hilal on July 1.

But the Norwegian ace has not looked back in anger over that result.

And he has swiftly jetted off to Ibiza for some a-peel-ing fun in the sun.

The 24-year-old was pictured making a splash on a banana boat alongside girlfriend Isabel Haugseng Johansen.

Haaland and Isabel were having a blast as they clambered all about the inflatable boat.

And that wasn’t the end of the water activities as the pair also revved up a jet ski.

Haaland kept his long hair tied back for the action as he wore a life jacket and swimming shorts.

However, he was then seen letting his hair down on a luxury yacht.

Meanwhile, bikini-clad Isabel was spotted catching some waves on a surf board.

Earlier this week the couple were pictured enjoying a swim in the ocean off of their boat.

Haaland and Isabel have a child together, but have kept their private lives a closely guarded secret and have not publicly announced the name of their kid.

The pair are believed to have met at the youth academy at Norwegian side Byrne, where both of them played football, before they started dating when he was starring at Borussia Dortmund.

City missed out on a potential £92million jackpot when they were eliminated from the Club World Cup.

But boss Pep Guardiola will be happy his squad can have a slightly longer break before the Premier League kicks back off in August.

It is not known exactly when Haaland and Co will be called back in for pre-season training.

But City will play Italian side Palermo in their only friendly on Saturday August 9.

They then kick off the Premier League campaign at Wolves a week later.

Tragic ‘best mummy’ had embroidered baby clothes ready for unborn son as tearful double funeral told ‘no words for pain’

THE death of pregnant mother-of-two Sarah Montgomery has left a “deep wound” on her family and the community where she lived, her funeral has been told.

The service of thanksgiving for Sarah and her unborn son, Liam Arthur, at Donaghadee Parish Church also heard that she was a born carer with a heart of gold.

Sarah, 27, died at her home in Elmfield Walk in the Co Down town last month.

A man has appeared in court charged with her murder.

Her death led to renewed focus on the rate of violence against women and girls in Northern Ireland and hundreds of people attended a vigil in her memory last week.

The service of thanksgiving on Thursday followed a family service of committal earlier in the day.

Rector of Donaghadee Rev Ian Gamble told the service: “The tragic death of Sarah and baby Liam has left a deep wound on a close and quiet family in our town.

“It has left a deep wound on the community up in Elmfield and across Donaghadee.

“Sarah Montgomery was a quiet and much-loved Donaghadee girl. A young mother, sister, a loving daughter to her late parents and a cherished granddaughter.

“Sarah had many friends from her days at school in our town and she was very much a part of our local community.

“Our community has rallied around her family in a wonderful way.”

Rev Kathy Couchman, who officiated at the service, said the family had been “totally overwhelmed” by the support they had received from Donaghadee and further afield.

‘SO IMMENSELY PROUD’

She added: “Sarah grew up in Donaghadee; this is where she spent her life and where she was so involved in the life of the town and her community.

“She has always been very proud of Donaghadee and so immensely proud especially to be Arthur and Edie Arbuckle’s granddaughter and to have a granda who was, ‘Arthur Arbuckle, the lifeboatman’.

“Sarah’s love for the lifeboats has been lifelong, and she had great interest and pride in following her mummy in fundraising for the RNLI.”

Rev Couchman said: “Sarah was just a born carer.

‘LOVE AND KINDNESS’

“Her friends and family have all spoken of how she had a heart of gold, of how caring she was, not only towards people she knew, but to anyone who needed help, and Arthur and Edie have told me just how much love and kindness she has shown them throughout her life and how much she has done to help them.”

She said that Sarah’s two daughters had been the “centre of her world”.

She added: “Sarah was so looking forward to being a mummy also to her baby, Liam Arthur.

“It is an utter tragedy that none of us has had, or ever will have, the chance to know him, to see him as a little boy or grown into a young man, but his was a life, a very precious life, that we must recognise and give thanks for.

‘SHE HAD EVERYTHING READY’

“His was a life that was so dearly loved and cherished by Sarah, who would have been the best, most loving mummy to him, too.”

“She had everything ready to welcome him to this world, to her family and to her girls.

“Thoughtful as ever, Sarah had had clothes prepared for Liam Arthur, embroidered with his name.

“We have seen so many tributes to Sarah over the past 11 days. They tell of a beautiful, caring, gentle and thoughtful young woman, who lived for her family and treasured her friendships.

‘TOUCHED SO MANY HEARTS’

“Sarah – mummy, granddaughter, sister, friend – in death as in life, she has touched so many hearts, far and wide, as has her baby, Liam Arthur.

“Our community is in shock and in mourning for them, and the response that we have seen, the love and support that has been shown to the family has been just incredible.

“Today we are giving thanks for them both and it’s the saddest of privileges to be able to do that here in our church.

“But let’s be clear about this, it should not be like this; we should not be here today, having to say goodbye to Sarah, a beautiful, caring young mummy with everything to live for, and to her baby, Liam Arthur, who has not even been allowed his moment of birth, let alone a breath of life beyond his mummy.”

FUTURE ‘SNATCHED AWAY’

She continued: “Sarah and Liam Arthur and his sisters should have a future ahead of them, but that future has been brutally and unjustly snatched away from them, and from their family and friends.

“This isn’t right; this isn’t how it should be, and we must not lose sight of the fact that it is neither right nor is it in any way excusable.

“There are no words that can ever take away the pain and devastation that will now wrack the hearts and lives of Sarah’s family.

“Yet we will all use many words as we try to grapple with the vast flood of emotions that fill us when we think of this beautiful, caring young mummy and her baby: there will be shock; there will be disbelief; there will be pain and deep, deep sadness.

“There will also be anger; there will be outrage at the brutality and injustice of taking away two such precious lives.”
