Ruben Amorim to banish Rashford, Garnacho, Antony and Sancho from Man Utd’s US tour – if he hasn’t sold outcasts already

RUBEN AMORIM is set to axe Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho from Manchester United’s pre-season tour of the USA.

The Portuguese boss is determined to take a hardline stance with the four outcasts whose days at Old Trafford are numbered.

And if the out-of-favour quartet have not found a new club by the time the squad jet off for the States in July they will be left behind to train alone at Carrington.

A club source said: “Amorim is stamping his authority on the club. It was hard arriving mid-season but he now has the opportunity to shape the team in his image. And he’s wasting no time.

“He only wants players who would die for the shirt and are on board with his ideas.

“He also wants a smaller squad to create an intimate team bond so that everyone gets enough game time to be at peak fitness when called upon. He doesn’t want any bad apples or distractions.”

Amorim is under huge pressure to deliver after a disastrous campaign which saw United finish 15th – their worst since they were relegated in the 1973-74 season.

The Red Devils also lost the Europa League final 1-0 to Tottenham.

Amorim’s rebuilding work has already begun with the £62.5million signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves while United are also chasing Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo.

The former Sporting coach has been assured there is cash available to strengthen the side in the coming weeks before facing Arsenal at home in the Prem season opener on August 17 and he had hoped to be reunited with striker Viktor Gyokeres.

His transfer kitty could also be bolstered with the sale of Garnacho, Rashford, Antony and Sancho.

The attacking players will almost certainly be missing when the Red Devils fly Stateside for a three-match tour.

United kick-off in New Jersey against West Ham on July 26 ahead of a trip to Chicago to face Bournemouth four days later before finishing up against Everton in Atlanta on August 3.

Garnacho, 20, is already the subject of a £45million move to Napoli but United want £70m for the Argentina international.

The Serie A champions have also expressed an interest in Sancho, whose future is in limbo after Chelsea declined to sign the on-loan winger for £25m and opted to pay a £5m penalty to send him back to Old Trafford.

Prem rivals Newcastle are said to be eyeing Rashford after Aston Villa did not follow up on his loan spell while Antony had a temporary spell in the second half of last season at Real Betis in Spain.

Thomas Frank facing major dilemma over Tottenham players’ futures including Son Heung-min and £60m Richarlison

DOMINIC SOLANKE will feel ace after hearing the comments of his new boss Thomas Frank.

Frank, snapped playing table-tennis at Tottenham’s training ground yesterday, spoke glowingly of the England striker during his first interview.

He served up compliments to other players too — though keen-eared fans also noted those the Dane did NOT mention.

Frank, 51, is only just through the door and will take time assessing his current squad with 2½ weeks until players return for pre-season.

But then he must decide who is in and who is out as he bids to turn Spurs into a smash hit for the new Premier League campaign . . .

GOALKEEPER

FRANK is unlikely to bring in or ship out any of his main stoppers.

There was some talk of AC Milan being interested in Guglielmo Vicario should Mike Maignan leave, but Spurs sources dismissed the prospect of selling the Italian, 28.

The biggest question mark will be whether he sticks with Vicario as his first choice or if Antonin Kinsky, 22, signed from Slavia Prague for £12.5million in January, can convince him a swap is needed.

Long-serving back-up  Brandon Austin remains third choice while  Alfie Whiteman leaves this month and highly-rated Josh Keeley could go out on loan again after spending last season at  Leyton Orient.

DEFENCE

QUESTIONS remain over the future of Cristian Romero, one of those stars not named by Frank.

The Argentine World Cup winner, 27, appeared to be agitating for a move last season, even speaking of his desire to play in LaLiga during a candid interview.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone would love to sign him but a proposed £60million price tag could be prohibitive for a player who has two years left on his contract.

Fans will also demand a quality replacement if Romero goes.

Spurs offered £70m for Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi in January and the England man would likely be a target again.

One who may benefit either way is Radu Dragusin, who met Frank this week along with the club’s other injured players.

The Romanian, 23, damaged knee ligaments in February and never seemed to fit into Ange Postecoglou’s style.

But Frank has a history of getting the best out of no-nonsense centre-backs.

Sergio Reguilon is out on a free transfer, leaving Spurs with only three recognised full-backs — if you do not count the versatile Ben Davies. So another is likely to be required.

MIDFIELD

FRANK spoke of trying to get the best out of James Maddison and  Rodrigo Bentancur, so both seem to be part of his plans.

Spurs hope to tie down the Uruguayan to a new contract with only a year left. But if that does not happen an exit would not be ruled out amid interest from Atletico.

Yves Bissouma also has only 12 months remaining and a few weeks ago fans would have expected the Malian, 28, to be sold given how far down the pecking order he fell under Postecoglou.

But he played a  pivotal role in the Europa League win over Manchester United and, with Frank often favouring two holding midfielders, his future is harder to call.

Spurs want the Dane to develop their young talent, including teenagers Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray.

But another holding midfielder,  perhaps with more experience,  could be on Frank’s shopping list.

“DOMINIC SOLANKE, I’m a big fan of him in terms of his abilities. I’m sure we’ll make him score a lot of goals.”

So said Frank of Spurs’ £65m striker, who was always going to be central to his approach. But who backs up the England man and plays wide?

Spurs have been open to selling Richarlison, 28, for a while now but, with his injury record and two years left on his deal, they might struggle to get an offer for the Brazilian that they will find acceptable.

There is serious interest in Bryan Mbeumo, 25, who scored 20 Prem goals for Frank’s Brentford last term — but Manchester United are also keen.

Mathys Tel, 20, has signed permanently after his spell on loan from Bayern Munich but another speedy wideman may be targeted given how Frank likes his teams to break at pace.

Then there is captain Son Heung-min, who is open to leaving after marking ten years at the club by lifting a trophy.

Son turns 33 next month, is wanted by Saudi clubs, as well as former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce and  also has only a year left on his contract.

But his unique commercial value means Spurs will not let him go on the cheap — and almost certainly not until after the club’s tour to  South Korea at the start of August.

Symptoms of acute gastroenteritis include diarrhoea, vomiting, fever, loss of appetite and abdominal pain and cramping.

In a short statement on Thursday afternoon, Real Madrid confirmed that the Frenchman had been discharged.

It read: “Kylian Mbappe was discharged from hospital this afternoon and has returned to the Real Madrid training complex.

“Mbappe will continue with specific medical treatment and will gradually return to team activity.”

The former Paris Saint-Germain star missed Xabi Alonso‘s first game in charge, a 1-1 draw with Al-Hilal on Wednesday.

Following the match, Alonso said: “I don’t know if Mbappe will be back for the next game. We’ll see.

“He wasn’t doing well in the last two days. He’s sick.”

Mbappe remains a major doubt for Real Madrid’s second Club World Cup match against Mexican side Pachuca in Charlotte on Sunday.

‘Use alternative route’ alert for Irish road users as busy stretch to close for TWELVE-day period

A MAJOR alert has been issued for Irish motorists as a popular road is set to close down for nearly two weeks.

And the details of local diversions are revealed so drivers can plan their journeys.

The busy stretch will temporarily close for 12 days for road works[/caption]

Mayo County Council announced that the busy R310 Pontoon to Knockmore Road will be temporarily closed at the former Healy’s Hotel for resurfacing works.

The closure will start from Monday, June 30, to Friday, July 11, from 9:30am until 5pm.

During the closure, traffic management with local diversions will be implemented.

All-Stop Traffic Management will be in operation; however, they warned drivers that there may be potential long delays to be expected.

Drivers are asked to divert via R315 to Lahardaun – Crossmolina to Ballina and R318 to Foxford and Castlebar.

They revealed that the local roads are not suitable for goods vehicles and emergency vehicles will be accommodated during the road closure.

The council also issued an alert that road works are currently taking place on R320/N5 Junctions until further notice.

Temporary traffic management will be in operation.

Drivers may expect some delays, and they are asked to allow extra time for their journey and use alternative routes.

Meanwhile, Irish motorists are being warned they could face a €2,500 fine for not towing their trailers properly.

Hundreds of holidaymakers will be hitting the road with their caravans this summer.

And the Road Safety Authority has urged motorists to ensure that all trailers comply with the Irish Road Traffic Regulations.

All caravans need to undergo safety checks to test whether they are roadworthy before heading out on long journeys.

Your local mechanics or testing centres can carry out the checks and identify issues with tyres, brakes and other components that could lead to issues on the road.

Drivers are also urged to ensure that all windows and mirrors are clean, properly adjusted and in good condition to have a good view of the rear.

They warned that only drivers who have a category B or BE licence can tow the trailer, which means that a B driving licence can drive a car, van or 4 X4 with a small trailer that is no greater than 750kg.

All unbraked light trailers must not exceed 750kg in weight and the maximum authorised mass is the weight of the trailer including its load.

For example, the maximum permissible weight of the trailer is 750kg and the unladen weight of the trailer is 110kg – the maximum load weight which can be carried would be 640kg.

HEFTY FINE

If you were caught not complying with laden weight provisions, you could receive a court summons if stopped by a Gardaí and if convicted, you could face a fine of up to €2,500.

If also detected using a vehicle and trailer combination whose axles or weight exceed those specified by the vehicle or trailer manufacturer, you can face a penalty point and a €200 fine if paid within 28 days.

However, it will rise up to €300 if paid within the subsequent 28 days or three penalty points and a fine not exceeding €2,500 if convicted in court.
