And speaking afterwards, a beaming Healy couldn’t contain his delight, joking after crossing the line: “That hill made me f***ing work for it.”
He added: “It’s unbelievable.
“It’s what I’ve worked all for, not just this year, the whole time, it’s incredible.
“Hours and hours of hard work from so many people, so to pay them back today is amazing.
“I grew up watching the Tour and one day wishing I could be there, to even be here is an achievement, so to win is amazing.”

Healy produced a storming final stretch to steal victory in Normandy.
The EF Education-EasyPost cyclist peeled away on a solo attack from an eight-man breakaway to take victory on the 201.5 km stage six.
He won by 2 minutes and 44 seconds, and joins Bennett, Shay Elliott, Sean Kelly, Stephen Roche, Martin Earley and Dan Martin as Irishman to have won a Tour De France stage.
Eddie Dunbar came in fourth, a position he pipped on the line after being part of the eight-man breakaway.
Healy now sits eighth in the General Classification – having started in the day in 33rd – after six stages, 2:01 behind Dutchman Mathieu van der Poel.

VLADIMIR Putin stooges have expressed their delight in the brazen daylight assassination of the Ukrainian spy cheap – and all but confirmed the Russia dictator was behind it.
SBU Colonel Ivan Voronych, 50, lies dead in a car park after being assassinatedEast2WestVoronych, circled, the moment before he is shot and collapses against a car[/caption]

Voronich is understood to have plotted sensitive missions made to thwart Vladimir Putin’s war machine– as well as embarrass the Russian tyrant.
Now pro-Putin media sites are claiming Moscow’s special services assassinated the Ukrainian colonel – and revelling in it.
Mad Vlad is believed to have ordered the revenge hits himself after being humiliated by the stunning success ofOperation Spiderwebin June in which destroyed £5.2 billion worth of Russian warplanes.
Ukrainian SBU agents smuggled drones on trucks to within striking distance of air bases and launched incredible simultaneous remotely controlled attacks.
Moscow news outlet Readovka said Voronych was part of an elite Ukrainian clandestine force which had carried out operations inside Russia.
Readovka said the unit “operates not only as a law enforcement entity but also takes part in highly sensitive operations on Russian territory”.
Another Russian outlet Voenkor Kotenok TG said the colonel had “founded a division that causes problems for Russia”.
And a different pro-Putin propaganda channel boasted: “A fat target. Applause to the liquidators”.
Russian commentator Maksim Kalashnikov said: “In Kyiv, Colonel Voronich, one of the organisers of special operations against us, a chief saboteur, was shot dead.
“Our people have started working.”
Former SBU colonel Roman Chervinsky, once head of the 5th Directorate of the SBU Counterintelligence Department, said Voronych’s killing amounted to a “huge loss”.
He was said to have “initiated a direction in the [SBU] service that is now creating many problems for the Russians.”.
“With five shots at close range, while leaving the apartment, today at 8 am, the enemy killer did his dirty work.”
Colonel Voronich was a senior operative of the 1st Division of the 16th Directorate of the Special Operations Centre.
Footage shows the moment he was killed as he carried bags from a residential building.
He was ambushed by the waiting gunman – who was masked – as a woman fled the scene.
The assassin is then seen running away on video.

Ukrainian ex-MP Ihor Mosiychuk said: “As a result of the shooting, the victim sustained multiple penetrating gunshot wounds and died at the scene.”
A major manhunt was underway for the alleged assassin.
Ukrainian police said: “All circumstances of the incident are currently being established. Measures are being taken to identify and detain the shooter.”
Putin wants SBU blood after a string of successes exposed the weaknesses in the security of his military machine.
Notable military successes since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022 including the sinking of the flagship of Russia’s Black Sea fleet, the Moskva, and the bombing of the Kerch Bridge.
A missile attack on Sevastopol harbour the following year also wreaked havoc but the tyrant finally demanded action after Spiderweb decimated his nuclear bomber fleet.
DEEP behind enemy lines, Ukraine’s special ops unit marked a turning point in modern warfare after drones blitzed Vladimir Putin’s prized bombers beyond repair.
Ukraine’s Security Service – the SBU – is wiping out the Russian tyrant’s war machine with stunning success.
In early June, the SBU’s Operation Spiderweb destroyed a third of Putin’s nuclear bomber fleet.
It set a new high point for Ukraine’s spies – showing incredible ingenuity, reach, and coordination inside a hostile country.
The SBU, led by Vasyl Malyuk, carried out the attack and has proved itself to be one of the best agencies in the world.
Over the three years of the war, the SBU has repeatedly assassinated commanders, bombed key sites, and attacked Putin’s beloved bridge in Crimea.
Despite Russia being larger, stronger, and holding the cards at the start of the war – it is Ukraine who has carried out a string of daring sabotage attacks.
Experts told The Sun why they think Ukraine and the SBU has been able to pull off these attacks – and what they could strike next.
Former MI6 intelligence officer Matthew Dunn said Spiderweb showed the SBU were the best spies in Europe.
He said: “Being an intelligence officer, there’s no static, fixed rule book about what one does.”
One question the world has been left asking is how Ukraine managed to get the drones inside Russia.
The bestselling spy novelist and podcast host at SafeHouse Productions said there is no clear answer.
He said: “The commanders involved in this at high level, they would have been very open-minded about how to get these drones into the country.”
Dunn said SBU spies could have smuggled drones over the border on foot, via parachute, or even a raft – whatever was the safest and easiest way.
He said: “The intelligence operation and the officers involved would have been as creative as possible.
“The issue is, the more people you involve… the higher the risk of compromise.
“Sometimes with these kind of things, risky and daring as they can be, sometimes simplicity is the answer.”

IRISH road users have been warned to “exercise caution” this weekend as scorching temperatures take hold across the country.
Temperature warnings are in place across Ireland this weekend as Met Eireann predicts blistering summer temperatures of up to 29C.
Yellow weather warnings have been issued for every county across Ireland this Saturday, ahead of scorching 29C temperaturesMeteologix
A status yellow weather warning has been issued for 14 counties from Friday noon, with all counties set to fall under the same warning on Saturday.
The heat will likely have many outside looking to soak up the sun.
However, the RSA is advising road users to be aware of the dangers posed by glare.
Sun glare can cause drivers and pedestrians to become temporarily disoriented and blinded and can result in serious road accidents.
For drivers, they advise wearing sunglasses, staying hydrated and watching out for vulnerable individuals such as pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists while on the road.
Pedestrians and those on bikes are advised to be aware of the danger posed by glare, especially at junctions and to use plenty of sunscreen when outside.
According to the organisation: “Summertime is the most dangerous time of the year on our roads. In the summer, when there are no obvious dangers, and the weather is fine and days are brighter, we drop our guard.”
The HSE has issued similar warnings regarding the weather, asking people spending time outdoors to remember to protect themselves from the damaging effects of UV exposure from the sun.
They explain that most people living in Ireland have fair skin, which burns easily, and so are at high risk of UV damage and skin cancer.
Jennifer Murnane O’Connor, Minister for Public Health, Wellbeing and the National Drugs Strategy explained: “Skin cancer is the most common cancer in Ireland with around 11,000 new cases per year.”
SHADES AND SUNSCREEN
She said: “Young people in particular need be extra vigilant when out and about this summer as one can be 2-4 times more likely to develop melanoma in later life if severely sunburned three or more instances before the age of 20.
“Reducing rates of skin cancer is a significant part of our drive to improve overall population health, and this starts by instilling good skin protection behaviours among our children and youth.”
The HSE recommends using the Healthy Ireland SunSmart 5S’s to protect your skin from the sun.
That being, slip on clothing, slop on sunscreen, slap on a wide-brimmed hat, seek shade and slide on sunglasses.

A SCHEME could see you live on a tiny remote island off the UK coast and get paid a whopping £70K a year – but it’s not all that easy.
The initiative falls under the “Our Living Islands” policy, designed to attract more residents and breathe new life into remote communities.

The Irish government is offering individuals up to £70,000 to purchase a home on one of the country’s remote islands.
Around 23 inhabited offshore islands are eligible for the scheme.
As of 2016, the combined population of these remote isles was just 2,734.
The Aran Islands are the most famous ones in the scheme and feature three picturesque rocky isles, Inishmaan, Inisheer and Inishmore.
However, the most remote island is Tory (Toraigh), which had a population of just 141 people as of 2023.
Each isle has its own unique landscapes and features that shape its character and the lives of those who live there.
The scheme is open to everyone, even if you’re not an Irish citizen — but there’s a catch.
The £70,000 grant provided by the government is intended to renovate vacant or derelict homes on the island.
They are not paying people to move there directly.
The scheme aims to improve infrastructure in the area, which in turn will help create more sustainable communities.
Successful applicants must use the money solely for restoring properties, as it is not a lump sum that can be used for general living expenses.
Renovating properties can be expensive, and once complete, the scheme does not permit the home to be used as a holiday let or short-term rental.
Despite not needing to be an Irish citizen, applicants must meet certain criteria to qualify.
To receive the grant, applicants must either own or be in the process of buying a property that meets the age and vacancy requirements.
Those looking to move to one of these remote islands can only choose a vacant or derelict property built before 2007 that has been unoccupied for a minimum period.
Applicants must also plan to live there permanently or rent the property out for at least 10 years to avoid having to repay large portions of the grant.
If someone sells the property, stops using it as their main home, or it’s no longer rented out, they may have to repay all or part of the grant to the local authority.
In the first five years, homeowners must repay the full grant. Between five and ten years, they must repay 75 per cent of the grant.
After ten years, homeowners can keep the property without repaying any of the grant.
