Rock legend ‘gives away’ he’s Glastonbury’s mystery performer as he flies into UK days before festival

GLASTONBURY fans have gone wild after one mega music star dropped a huge hint that he’s headed to the festival.

The American musician has flown in to the UK just days before this year’s Glastonbury gets underway at Worthy Farm.

Fans are convinced he will make a surprise appearance after jetting in to London[/caption]

Fans are convinced he will be making a ‘surprise’ appearance at the huge music event – especially as he has done it before.

Dave Grohl, 56, has sent fans into a spin after posing for a photo with US singer Amanda Palmer at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Amanda was backstage at a gig by rock band Yeah Yeah Yeahs when she bumped into the Foo Fighters legend.

After grabbing Dave for a photo, she shared it on social media and told her followers: “Well I’ll be damned. Not who I expected to run into backstage at the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s show in London tonight, but look, it’s Dave Grohl.

She added: “We shared a sweet conversation mostly singing the cosmic praises of Melissa auf der Maur, whose magnificence truly obscures both of us.

“It was really nice to meet you, Dave.”

Writing on Reddit, fans have been quick to make the connection between Dave’s trip to London and next week’s Glastonbury Festival.

In 2023, a mystery act called The Churn Ups caused a stir when they featured on the Pyramid Stage bill.

Fans went into a frenzy trying to work out who the band was, before they were eventually unmasked as The Foo Fighters.

Starting a new thread on Reddit, music fans are now convinced Dave will be making another surprise appearance at Glastonbury.

One wrote: “Dave Grohl is in London, likely will be at the festival. Has done bits with John Fogerty in the past and other acts. Surely will be popping up at places this year?”

Another replied: “Drumming for Alanis Morrisette possibly? Tribute for Taylor Hawkins?”

And a third added: “100% will be milling about – I’d say a couple of guest appearances are a safe bet. Maybe Alanis for a song or Neil Young for an encore.”

The Foo Fighters’ surprise Glastonbury set in 2023 was the first time the band had been at the festival since headlining in 2017.

It was also their first major gig in the UK following the death of the band’s drummer Taylor Hawkins, who passed away in March 2022 aged 50.

Taylor had joined The Foo Fighters in 1997 and, prior to that, was the drummer on Alanis Morrissette’s tour.

Canadian musician Alanis is listed to perform on the Pyramid Stage at 6.15pm next Friday (June 27), which would be the perfect time for Dave to appear.

Other headliners this year include The 1975, Neil Young, Olivia Rodrigo, Charli XCX, Doechii and The Prodigy.

Glastonbury 2025 - confirmed acts so far

TICKETS to the 2025 festival sold out in just minutes before some of the acts were even confirmed. Here is who has been confirmed so far.

Confirmed headliners:

  • The 1975 will take to the Pyramid Stage on Friday.
  • Neil Young will headline the festival for the second time after his last set in 2009 on Saturday after RAYE makes her return.
  • Charli xcx will headline the Other Stage on Saturday night.
  • On Sunday, Olivia Rodrigo is due to belt out her hits for her first appearance while Rod Stewart will perform in the legends slot.
  • More acts to appear on the Other Stage include Loyle Carner and The Prodigy.
  • Doechii will make her Glastonbury debut on the West Holts Stage on Saturday night.
  • Other names confirmed include Noah Kahan, Alanis Morissette, Gracie Abrams, Busta Rhymes, Lola Young, Brandi Carlile, Myles Smith, En Vogue, Amaarae, Cymande, Shaboozey, Osees and Gary Numan.

Rod Stewart will also be performing in the Legends slot, having previously headlined at Worthy Farm 23 years ago.

This week, the rock icon revealed in an interview how much he is being paid to perform this year – and how much he is set to lose.

Rod told the Radio Times: “It was about eight months ago when I was asked to do it, maybe a little longer. But it didn’t fit with my schedule because I’ve got to bring everybody back from America.

“It’s going to cost me £300,000 to do it and they only pay you about 120,000 quid. So it’s going to cost me.”

Consumers are advised not to eat the implicated batches
Kenneth O'Halloran - The Sun Dublin

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland issued the advisory about a batch of SuperValu Signature Tastes Yellowfin Tuna Steaks.

SuperValu pulled the food item as a precautionary measure due to “possible elevated levels of Histamine.”

The product identification is SuperValu Line Caught Signature Tastes Yellowfin Tuna Steaks; pack size 240g with use by dates of 19/06/2025, 20/06/2025, 21/06/2025, 23/06/2025, 24/06/2025 and 25/06/2025.

Recall notices have been displayed in all SuperValu stores across the country.

A spokesperson for the FSAI said: “As a precautionary measure, SuperValu is recalling the above batches of its Signature Tastes Yellowfin Tuna Steaks due to possible elevated levels of Histamine.

“Retailers are requested to remove the implicated batches from sale and display recall notices at point-of-sale.

Consumers are advised not to eat the implicated batches.”

Separately, Dunnes Stores shoppers across Ireland have been warned “not to consume” a popular apple tart that has been pulled from the shelves.

The ‘Dunnes Stores Luxury Apple Pie’ has been recalled by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland over fears that it may be unsafe for some customers.

Only one batch of the product has been affected by this recall.

Some packs of the apple pie have been mispacked with the ‘Dunnes Stores Luxury Pear and Almond Pie’.

The FSAI said: “The product contains almonds which are not declared on the label.

“This may make the batch unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of almonds, and therefore, these consumers should not eat the implicated batch.”

The affected product is in a 750g packet with batch number 242 and a best before date of 16/06/2025.

Anyone with an affected product can return it for a full refund.

Dunnes Stores said: “Customers are advised not to consume this product, instead to return it to a Dunnes Stores store for a full refund. No receipt is required.”

A spokesperson added: “We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused.”

EastEnders’ Lorraine Stanley looks slimmer than ever after dramatic five stone weight loss

EASTENDERS’ Lorraine Stanley looks slimmer than ever after undergoing a dramatic five stone weight loss.

Lorraine, 48, who recently hit out at fab jab claims, put on a jaw-dropping display in a tie-dye grey dress with her 10-year-old daughter, Nancy.

The mother-daughter-duo busted some moves to a song set to slow motion in their kitchen in an Instagram Story.

Lorraine, who shares Nancy with her partner Mark Perez, flashed a beaming smile while dancing away with the sprog.

The soap star has been putting her new physique on full display in recent times.

Just last month, she sported a slimming flower print crop top and trousers combo as she partied the night away at a special bingo event.

Underneath the tied top, she donned a skin-tight white vest which only emphasised her tiny waist.

For shoes, Lorraine opted for complimentary open-toe leather platform strapped heels for the occasion.

Alongside flaunting her physique, the star also opened up on a huge new milestone in her life.

She captioned the snap: “5 months sober & still had a good night dancing! #Sobriety.”

The TV star also told how her changing figure was not down to popular weight loss jabs like Ozempic or Mounjaro.

Instead, Lorraine opted for a gastric sleeve operation.

One inquisitive fan on TikTok asked for Lorraine’s secret, to which she simply answered back in the comments: “Gastric sleeve.”

A gastric sleeve is a weight loss procedure that removes a significant portion of the stomach, creating a smaller, sleeve-shaped pouch.

The actress was written out of Eastenders in 2023 after seven years on the show in a huge shock to fans.

Her character’s axing was as part of a shock cast shake-up and her final scenes were aired in December of that year.

She went onto reprise her fan-favourite role a number of times in 2024 before her last episode hit BBC screens in June.

‘This made me howl’, cry fans as Ireland AM hosts try out hysterical TikTok trend outside studio

IRELAND AM hosts have left their viewers in stitches after they attempted a viral TikTok trend.

The hit breakfast show was back on air yesterday with usual presenters Muireann O’Connell, Alan Hughes and Tommy Bowe.

The dynamic trio are renowned for their shared sense of humour and cheeky on-screen banter.

Yesterday, Muireann and Alan had a great time outside the Virgin Media studio as they joined in with a popular TikTok trend.

The trend suggested that doing a silly, horse-like walk can lead to unexpectedly great candid photos — and they couldn’t resist giving it a try.

Muireann and Alan linked arms as they galloped around the Virgin Media parking lot.

The hosts were in fits of laughter as they realised how hilarious they looked doing the ridiculous walk.

But, in the end, the pair were speechless when they ended up getting some gorgeous photos of themselves.

Muireann looked beautiful prancing in her white cream skirt and beaming from ear to ear.

While Alan lovingly looked over at Muireann and smiled.

The official Ireland AM page posted the hysterical video with the caption: “Wait… could this replace our morning photo posts? How did we do?”

And fans were all left laughing at the stars’ humorous clip as they reacted in the comments section.

Christine wrote: “Love this trend so much haha.”

Olive said: “You two are priceless. Very funny.”

Norma added: “That made me howl!”

While Mag remarked: “You guys are just so funny. You make my day.”

And Maura gushed: “Love these two gems… great friendship.”

This comes after an Ireland AM guest made a witty remark on air after Alan Hughes’ cheeky comments.

NO BUN INTENDED

Baker Corinna Camerino joined the presenters on set in the Virgin Media studio to cook up a storm.

Teasing the cooking segment, Tommy said: “Now Alan is in the kitchen. What’s on the menu, Alan?”

The Ballyfermot native replied: “I am indeed. Tommy, how’s your buns?”

The former rugby star was surprised by the question and he stuttered as he answered: “Eh… they’re tasty.”

Alan went on to say: “Because we’ve got something fluffy and good baking in the kitchen this morning. Yes, we’re doing lovely buns.”

She quickly added: “G-rated sour cream cardamom buns.”

Alan looked puzzled as he asked: “What’s G-rated?”

Corinna said: “It’s for the general population. It’s nothing like sexy puns about buns. G-rated.”

Alan was in fits of laughter at her hit back and said: “You’ve told me, girl. You’ve told me!”

ITV drama set to come to an end after three series with filming for the final episode already underway

A POPULAR ITV drama looks set to end after three series as it’s confirmed its upcoming run will be its final one.

The Dry made its debut in May 2022, produced by the Irish broadcaster RTE, and initially aired on the UK streaming service, BritBox.

The Irish drama is currently filming its third and final series[/caption]

However, for its second series, it was quickly moved to ITV amid its popularity.

But now, the comedy-drama set in Dublin will come to a close with its impending third series.

Production on its final episodes is currently underway in Dublin with the show likely to hit screens next year.

The programme’s writer, Nancy Harris, confirmed that there would be no more editions in a statement in which she reflected on the show.

She said: “It has been a true joy to see audiences embrace the Sheridan family in all their dysfunctional glory and I am so grateful to have gotten to tell this story over three seasons.

“The third and final season aims to go deeper than ever before, really getting under the skin of Shiv and the family in a way that we hope is both surprising, funny and (painfully) honest.”

Whilst Nana Hughes, the Head of Scripted Comedy at ITV went on to add: “ITV are absolutely thrilled to be part of the team alongside RTÉ and Element Pictures for the third and final series of The Dry.

“Nancy Harris’ scripts will make you laugh and may well make you cry….I did both just reading the scripts.

“Nancy’s award winning writing delivers more of the chaotic mess that is the Sheridan family.

“I can’t wait to see what Paddy and the cast will bring to the finale of this wonderful show.”

The programme follows Shiv Sheridan, played by actress Roisin Gallagher, a woman recovering from alcoholism who makes her way back home to Dublin.

At 35 years old, she is fresh off ten years in London trying to be successful as an artist but to no avail.

Her family in Dublin are not very supportive of her sobriety as they are all big drinkers and some even drug-users.

The Dry follows Shiv as she navigates this and how she finds her feet back amongst her family in Dublin.

Horrifying masks & sordid sex dolls – terrifying swingers’ ‘House from HELL’ which lay abandoned after grisly murder

MOULDY sex dolls and creepy masks have been uncovered inside a murder mansion dubbed the “house from hell” .

Porn magazines and sordid photos were among items discovered at the former brothel in Paignton, Devon, where a man was murdered more than two decades ago.

Condemned property 3 Keysfield Road – which was renowned for hosting wild sex parties – was dubbed the “house from hell” by neighbours.

Urban explorers found boxes piled high with sordid images of a blonde girl with a group of men at the abandoned Victorian villa.

Kayleigh Coulston and Proving Demons were left in shock at their “freaky” discoveries in the house, including a blow-up doll and horrifying masks.

At several points in the video, they remark to one another that many of the items are not suitable to be shown on YouTube.

In footage posted online, Kayleigh says: “Oh no – it’s a sex doll.

“I did not think we would find that in here. At least she is deflated!

“That is so weird – so freaky. I can just tell we’re going to be in for a field day at this place.

“Already we’ve found a DVD cover which obviously I can’t film and now we’ve found a blow-up naughty doll.

“I’m trying not to film some of it because I can see on the floor there are a lot of dirty articles.

“Unfortunately YouTube will not let me get away with that one.”

They pull out a variety of porn magazines from piles of rubbish on the floors and tables, including a copy of Loaded’s ‘Big Sexy Orgy’ from 2003.

The house – now being turned into 14 flats – was the scene of a gruesome murder in 2000.

Dad-of-three David Maher was killed after he was hit over the head with a monkey wrench by drug dealer Peter Mann in a row over cocaine.

Mann later dumped the body at a nearby dairy depot. He was jailed for life.

The homeowner Angela Claydon, who was the girlfriend of Mann at the time, was also convicted of trying to cover up the crime and helping the killer flee the country.

She was jailed for nine months following the trial in 2002.

The house was closed by cops in 2010 following complaints from neighbours about drug-taking, prostitution and anti-social behaviour.

Residents reported seeing people urinating and defecating in the grounds outside the house.

It was the first home in Paignton to be the subject of a closure order.

On the same day police were set to put a closure order on the building, firefighters had been called to the property after Peter Heron tried to burn the house down.

The 43-year-old was jailed for 28 months after he used a blowtorch and had the gas turned on in while other tenants were still inside.

In 2017, “rogue landlady” Claydon was also found guilty of allowing the property to be occupied – despite a prohibition order banning people from living there.

Newton Abbot Magistrates’ Court heard that residents and police officers had seen people on the site.

The fire service had entered the property in November 2016 to rescue an occupant, thought to be aged in his 40s, during a fire in which a dog died.

The former multiple-occupancy house has been described by local police as “a blot on the landscape”.

Council planners gave the nod to convert the crime-hit derelict home into flats in 2020.

Work is now underway to breathe new life into the sordid site.

At a planning meeting, Councillor Barbara Lewis said the property had been the source of problems for residents and the development would improve and regenerate the area.

She added: “All the residents of Keysfield Road will be delighted.”

Hotel slammed for using endangered red pandas to wake up guests by letting cuddly critters crawl into their beds

A HOTEL in China uses endangered red pandas to wake up its guests, allowing the cuddly animals to crawl into their beds.

However, the Lehe Ledu Liangjiang Holiday Hotel, situated in the remote countryside near the southwestern city of Chongqing, has been rapped by the local forestry agency due to animal welfare concerns.

The hotel’s use of the animals has sparked a debate on social media about the ethical use of the red pandas[/caption]

The hotel draws in the guests by advertising “red panda-themed holidays” where the loveable animals are allowed into rooms as a way of waking people up.

While the publicity has brought in the guests it has also attracted criticism.

Clips on social media show the endangered animals sitting on beds and interacting with the guests, who appear to be delighted to have them in their rooms.

The hotel has drawn the attention of local media with a Chinese magazine featuring the unusual hotel which triggered a discussion on social media about the ethical use of the animals.

In turn, the publicity drew the attention of the local forestry bureau who sent a team of inspectors round to investigate.

A statement issued by the bureau said it had ordered the immediate halt to all “close contact” activities with the red pandas and added it would report back on any further findings.

Brit YouTube stars Ben and Reanne Dridger, from Portsmouth, who update their fans with vlogs of their travels through China, loved their encounter with the red pandas when they visited the hotel in April.

Speaking to the camera, Ben said: “China is the only place in the world where you can have a panda delivered to your room to sit on your bed with you,” before the camera panned to Reanne who was seen hand feeding pieces of apple to the friendly animal.

Reanne then remarked: “That’s so cool,” as the red panda, one of four kept by the hotel, crawled across the bed and sniffed the camera.

Footage has also been posted by Chinese guests on the country’s popular social media site Douyin.

Hotel staff have said how long the creatures stay in a guest’s room “depended on the red panda’s mood that day,” according to a report by China Newsweek.

The Global Times, a communist party newspaper, though has put out a severe warning that the practice could be in breach of animal rights.

The hotel has responded to concerns over the treatment of the red pandas possibly being unhygienic or dangerous to children by saying the animals were all vaccinated and children had to be accompanied by an adult.

Red pandas are currently listed as an endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and estimates say there are less than 10,000 living in the wild.

Despite their name they are not closely related to the larger black and white giant pandas which live in the same region of China.

Red pandas are part of the extended raccoon family.

Before a ban was introduced in 2018, close contact with giant pandas, including photographs with cubs, was common practice.

The Liangjiang Hotel appears to have swerved prosecution due to the fact red pandas are not technically in the giant panda family.
