How ‘Argentina’s Lucy Letby’ murdered 5 newborns & tried to kill 8 more in chillingly similar case to UK’s baby killer

A NURSE in Argentina has been sentenced to life in prison for ruthlessly murdering five newborns and trying to kill eight others.

The case bears chilling similarities to that of Brit baby murderer Lucy Letby, the nurse who is serving 15 whole-life sentences for killing seven babies and attempting to murder seven more.

Brenda Cecilia Aguero, 29, stole deadly doses of potassium and insulin before injecting them into newborn babies between March and June of 2022, prosecutors said.

Similarly, Letby was accused of injecting air and insulin into the babies, as well as overfeeding them milk – but has always maintained her innocence.

Many have cast doubt over Letby’s convictions and others suggest she was targeted in a “witch hunt”.

In the chilling Argentine case, newborns tragically died initially under unexplained circumstances in a maternity hospital in Cordoba province, north-west of Buenos Aires.

Baby killer Aguero tried to murder eight other babies between March and June of 2022, but they managed to receive rapid, live-saving medical intervention, local media reports.

The 29-year-old will serve at least 35 years in prison before being eligible for parole, under Argentine law.

Aguero’s mum, Cristina Nobile, mainains her daughter’s innocence and told reporters she would continue to press to have her conviction overturned.

She added: “My daughter is innocent, and I will continue fighting.”

Prosecutors alleged during the trial that Aguero’s motivation behind the wicked killings was to further her career.

They say that she attacked the newborns in order to be the first to notice their symptoms and consequently impress her bosses.

But with five newborns dying within such a short space of time, the country’s Health Ministry launched a probe.

An alarming pattern was noticed, with babies having unexplained puncture marks in areas where injections weren’t typically administered.

Toxicology reports revealed that several of the babies had potassium or insulin levels that they couldn’t have produced naturally.

And prosecutors argued that Aguero was the only person present during all the harrowing incidents and has “exclusive proximity” to the mums and their babies.

Aguero denied the charges and told the court “they have no evidence”.

She also accused the media of portraying her as a “serial killer”.

Ten other defendants, including the former health minister in Cordoba as well as the former hospital director, were accused of attempting to cover up the incidents and destroy evidence.

Five were found guilty but received shorter sentences, and the five others were acquitted – including the former provincial officials, local media reported.

Killer nurse Lucy Letby was convicted of ruthlessly murdering seven babies in her care

The case bears chilling similarities to that of Brit Letby, now 34, who was last year given a whole life order in prison for the murders of seven babies and the attempted murders of seven more at Countess of Chester Hospital.

During her ten-month trial, which ended last August when she received a whole life sentence, it was revealed she injected her victims with air or insulin, overfed them and physically abused them with medical tools.

An application to appeal against her sentence was rejected in February of this year.

She was convicted across two trials at Manchester Crown Court of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder seven others.

The 35-year-old from Hereford is serving 15 whole-life orders.

She lost two attempts to challenged her convictions at the Court of Appeal last year.

Separately, Dutch nurse Lucia de Berk was found guilty of killing seven and attempting to kill three of her young patients in 2003 and 2004.

Just like Letby’s case, prosecutors claimed the smoking gun evidence came from a string of “sinister” diary entries — and hospital shift patterns which revealed she had been present at all of the deaths.

De Berk spent five years behind bars at Scheveningen prison before the case went to the appeal court and was acquitted in 2010.

During police raids on Brit Letby’s home after her arrest, officers took a specific interest in her diary, as well as other notes found in her bedroom.

One such scrawling, which went on to form a key part of the case against her, said: “I am evil, I did this.”

It was emblazoned on a bright Post-It, alongside another saying: “I killed them on purpose because I’m not good enough.”

Her diary, meanwhile, found in a bedside drawer, was thought to have contained a sadistic trail of breadcrumbs.

These included coloured asterisks, as well as initials and words added to days that occasionally coincided with the dates of deaths or attacks she was later found guilty of.

Timeline of horror - how Letby targeted babies

LUCY Letby carried out her horrific crimes over a 12-month period at Countess of Chester Hospital.

She used insulin and air to inject newborns while working on the neo-natal ward.

The collapses and deaths of the children were not “naturally-occurring tragedies” and instead the gruesome work of “poisoner” Letby.

Her rampage was finally uncovered after staff grew suspicious of the “significant rise” in the number of babies dying or suffering “catastrophic” collapses.

Letby was found to be the “common denominator” among the horrifying incidents.

Officers then searched her three-bedroom home in Chester and discovered a chilling cache of evidence.

The nurse had scribbled haunting notes in diaries and on Post-It notes, including one that read: “I am evil I did this.”

The note added: “I don’t deserve to live. I killed them on purpose because I’m not good enough to care for them.

“I am a horrible person.”

A probe into whether Letby harmed any other babies at the Countess of Chester Hospital and Liverpool Women’s Hospital is ongoing.

A corporate manslaughter investigation is also ongoing, as is now a gross negligence manslaughter one.

‘We’re not friends, obviously’ – Lionel Messi gives rare glimpse into his relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo

LIONEL MESSI declared “we’re not friends, obviously” as he gave a rare glimpse into his relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo.

The veteran rivals are regarded as arguably the two best players to ever grace the beautiful game.

The pair have won numerous trophies and awards between them[/caption]

And their battle for legendary status has now been ongoing for over 20 years.

Messi, 37, currently stars for MLS side Inter Miami after a dazzling career for Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Argentina.

Ronaldo, 40, continues to tear things up for Saudi outfit Al-Nassr following glory at Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.

And the pair boast 19 league titles between them, as well as nine Champions Leagues and seven international trophies.

As far as Ballon d’Ors go, Messi leads Ronaldo by eight of the individual honours to five.

But despite their rivalry on the pitch, the pair have sought to play down reports of a grudge off it too.

Ronaldo previously declared he “admired” Messi’s career while admitting son Cristiano Jr adored the Argentine’s skills.

Meanwhile, Messi believes they have enjoyed a “great battle” and “deserve credit” for leading the “golden era” of football.

Now, the World Cup winner has given a deeper glimpse into his relationship with his Euro-clinching counterpart.

Admitting he’s “not friends” with Ronaldo, Messi told DSports: “I have a lot of respect and admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo and for the career he’s had and continues to have, because he’s still competing at the highest level.

“The competition with him was on the pitch. Each of us wanted to do the best for our team. Obviously, as always, everything stayed on the field.

“Off the pitch, we are two normal people. We’re not friends obviously because we don’t spend time together, but we’ve always treated each other with a lot of respect.”

Ronaldo also had his say on Messi earlier this year.

He declared: “I have a good relationship with Messi. It was a healthy rivalry, we got along.”

Wrinkle-free 52-year-old woman who doesn’t use Botox shares how she looks 25 thanks to secret that makes her skin glow

IF you’re desperate to stay looking youthful and keep wrinkles at bay, you’ve come to the right place.

Luckily for those on a mission to combat ageing, a woman who is mistaken for looking decades younger than she actually is has revealed the secret she swears by.

Don’t worry, you won’t have to buy any beauty products or get Botox, as this hack is all in what you eat[/caption]

Lorraine Pascale swears by a healthy diet, particularly one full with lots of fruit, for good skin[/caption]

And don’t worry, you won’t have to worry about splashing the cash on posh beauty lotions, potions and serums and even better, there’s no Botox or painful procedures in sight.

Lorraine Pascale, a British TV chef, took to social media to share the secret behind her wrinkle-free skin – and it couldn’t be simpler.

Instead of loading up her skin with countless products or getting needles injected into her face, the model turned TV presenter, who first hit our screens in 2011, claimed that her youthful skin is all down to her diet.

Responding to a question she often receives – “How is your skin like that at 52?” – the stunner shared the food she always eats to get her face glowing.

As she tucked into a large fruit bowl containing pineapple, strawberries, grapes and apple, the Hackney-born celebrity revealed her simple secret – fruit

Lorraine has previously been open after she spent years battling an eating disorder

While she used to “beat herself up” for eating the wrong things, now, Lorraine shares healthy dishes and recipes online.

It’s common knowledge that fruits and vegetables are beneficial to your health and according to The Dermatology Group, not only can such produce keep you feeling energised and healthy, but they are also imperative to your skin health.

Without consuming fruit and vegetables, experts warn that your skin will deteriorate over time.

The experts also revealed that fruits and vegetables contain a large number of vitamins, including Vitamins A, B, C, D, E, and K.

Vitamins D, C, E, and K in particular are good for the skin.

Not only this, fruits and veggies also contain antioxidants which are essential for good skin health and keeping our faces looking youthful and healthy

How to reverse ageing in just 2 weeks, according to royal go-to nutritionist

LONDON -based Gabriela Peacock, who has helped the likes of Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie prepare for their weddings.

She told Fabulous: “The science is evident that we all have the power to make simple life changing alterations to better our future selves – no matter what genetic hand we might have been dealt with.

“The reality is, we all sometimes indulge in unhealthy eating habits like processed foods, smoking cigarettes, drinking too much alcohol, inhaling city pollutants, and even drinking water from plastic bottles – none of this is good for us.

“All this does is promote the ageing process, but we all have the potential to change this.”

It may be hard, but try to keep away from sugary carbohydrates, because they feed chronic inflammation, which is one of the worst enemies of reversing ageing.

Now only will you end up putting on weight if you consume them regularly, but your energy and hormonal levels will be affected and this will influence how you look and feel.

Whatever your age or state of health, it’s never too late to reverse how quickly you are ageing and embrace the energy and vigour of a younger you.

Antioxidants, such as vitamins A, C, and E, are essential in neutralising free radicals—the culprits behind premature ageing.

Integrating a spectrum of colourful fruits and vegetables into your diet provides a potent source of antioxidants.

Omega-3 fatty acids, abundant in fatty fish like salmon and flaxseeds, are vital for maintaining skin elasticity and hydration.

Omega-3s act as nourishment for your skin, locking in moisture and diminishing fine lines and wrinkles.

Collagen, a structural protein dwindling with age, can be replenished through collagen-rich foods like bone broth and lean protein sources.

Lorraine’s TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @lorrainepascaleofficial, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 95,300 views in just 22 hours.

Not only this, but it’s also amassed 4,464 likes and 79 comments.

Social media users were gobsmacked by Lorraine’s age and many eagerly raced to the comments to express this.

Biggest skincare trends for 2025

Face The Future’s Head of Clinic, Kimberley Medd, shared the five skincare trends predicted to take off in 2025.

1. Exosomes

Exosomes are the buzzword for 2025, taking advanced skin regeneration to new heights. These micro-messengers signal skin cells to repair damage, boost collagen, and accelerate recovery, and they’re a gamechanger for targeting ageing.

2. Streamlined Skincare

The age of 12-step routines is fading as consumers shift to more intentional, multi-functional products. Streamlining skincare not only saves time but also reduces the risk of overloading your skin. In 2025, we’ll see a rise in hybrid products that combine active ingredients for simplified, effective results.

3. Vegan Collagen

Plant-based collagen will dominate the skincare world this year, providing a sustainable, ethical alternative to traditional animal-derived collagen. Expect vegan collagen in everything from moisturisers to serums.

4. The Rise Of AI

AI is revolutionising the beauty landscape, making it possible for consumers to get truly personalised skincare solutions. In 2025, we predict a dramatic shift towards AI-powered tools that help people understand their skin on a deeper level.

5. Hair Loss Solutions –

Hair loss is an issue that affects more men than we often realise, and it’s no longer just something we’re talking about behind closed doors. This year, expect to see a continued rise in demand for treatments that not only tackle hair loss but also nurture overall scalp health.

Love Island winner Jess Hayes reveals why she’s banned sex – and hits out at ex who ‘targeted her’ for £25k

LOVE Island winner Jess Hayes has lifted the lid on why she has decided to ban sex from her life.

Jess, 32, won the first series of Love Island but, a decade on, is now proud to be celibate.

The single mum-of-two revealed last month she has given up sex for good and now she has revealed the reason behind her choice.

Speaking to Mail Online, Jess believes sex is a “pointless activity” if a person is not in a loving relationship.

And despite giving the impression on Love Island that she was “sex-obsessed”, Jess said this couldn’t be further from the truth.

“I’m just not interested unless I really connect with a guy,” she explained to the publication.

Jess added: “I’m not having any, and I don’t miss it. I don’t want it. It could be years before I have it again, who knows.

“I’m not into one-night stands and, believe it or not, I never have been.”

Jess won the first ever series of Love Island alongside Max Morley in 2015.

She worked in a bank at the time and chose to share the £50,000 prize money with Max.

The couple appeared smitten and had quickly won over the hearts of the nation.

But just six weeks after their triumph, the winners dramatically split when Max was caught spending the night with Geordie Shore star Charlotte Crosby.

Looking back, Jess has now accused professional cricket player Max of deliberately “targeting” her.

Max had entered the villa as a late bombshell and Jess believes it gave him time to clock how popular she was with viewers.

Telling the Mail she is “annoyed” they split the money, Jess added: “So, I do feel he targeted me but, as I say, I was young and naive.”

Jess was just 22 when she won Love Island and afterwards she threw herself into a lifestyle of wild partying.

But three years later, she “hit rock bottom”.

Jess struggled with her new-found fame and began questioning the direction her life was going in.

Speaking to The Sun On Sunday last month, Jess said: “I remember feeling very lost and thinking, what now?

“You go out a lot and party a lot and sometimes it can be to excess and that’s not good for you.

“You come out of a show and you’re a celebrity and no one says, ‘This might only last five minutes’.

“I didn’t have good guidance or good management and that didn’t help me take the right path.

“There were points where I thought, what the hell am I doing?”

Love Island 2025 full lineup

  • Harry Cooksley: A 30-year-old footballer with charm to spare.
  • Shakira Khan: A 22-year-old Manchester-based model, ready to turn heads.
  • Megan Moore: A payroll specialist from Southampton, looking for someone tall and stylish.
  • Alima Gagigo: International business graduate with brains and ambition.

  • Remell Mullins: Boasts over 18million likes and 500k followers on TikTok thanks to his sizzling body transformation videos.
  • Harrison Solomon: Pro footballer and model entering Love Island 2025 as a bombshell.

Departures:

  • Kyle Ashman: Axed after an arrest over a machete attack emerged. He was released with no further action taken and denies any wrongdoing.
  • Sophie Lee: A model and motivational speaker who has overcome adversity after suffering life-changing burns in an accident.
  • Blu Chegini: A boxer with striking model looks, seeking love in the villa.

Jess is now a devoted mum of two children, five-year-old son Presley and daughter Zendaya Rose, one.

The relationships with both of her kids’ dads broke down and she is now a single mum.

However, Jess said: “I couldn’t ask for more from my children’s dads.

“They are in their lives and they are good with them.”

She added: “I’m not materialistic at all now and I think that having children, your priorities change.

“And if my daughter tells me she wants to apply for Love Island in 20 years time I will tell her, ‘No way — not unless I’m your manager’.”

Thousands of people are set to descend on Phoenix Park when music star Zach Bryan takes over the outdoor venue for three sold-out concerts, starting today.

And tomorrow night the sold out ‘Kingfishr’ show will take place at Fairview Park.

Four GAA matches are scheduled to take place between Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

And the British and Irish Lions v Argentina is also playing at the Aviva Stadium tonight.

Gardai have also confirmed that two planned public gathering are expected to take place on Sunday afternoon across Dublin city.

As more people are expected into the city this weekend, participants and spectators are encouraged to follow advice and guidance from the Gardai.

Public transport network as well as roads in and around the city centre are expected to be busy.

In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said: “These events have been carefully planned through by Garda Event Co-Ordination Teams in Dublin to ensure that not only are the events appropriately resourced to protect public safety, but that An Garda Síochána will continue to provide its important day-to-day services to people.

“Due to both public gatherings due to take place in Dublin City Centre on Sunday, we advise people to anticipate rolling road closures which will have a likely effect on public transport such as LUAS and Dublin Bus services.”

Gardai said they will have their full traffic management plan in place to keep the traffic disruption to a minimum.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s events, Assistant Commissioner for Dublin, Paul Cleary said: “This weekend is packed with lots of activity and with the summer weather also looking promising, we look forward to helping to welcome thousands of people into Dublin to make the most of their weekend.

“We want you to enjoy yourselves if socialising or attending any one of the exciting sporting and music events happening in the city.

“But to please be mindful of others and how your behaviour may impact their experience.”

He continued: “This summer’s public events would not be able to go ahead were it not for the Gardai that will be working above and beyond this weekend and for the remainder of the summer to keep people safe.

“Should you feel unsafe or need our assistance in any way over the weekend, please contact us or stop anyone of us on our high-visibility patrols across the city, and in an emergency or immediate danger always dial 999/112.”

Girl, 9, recalls moment she ‘picked up hand’ & ‘started screaming’ in horror shark attack as dad says ‘miracle’ happened

THE nine-year-old girl has recalled the moment her hand was almost torn off in a savage shark attack while snorkeling with her mom.

Leah Lendel underwent a six-hour surgery to repair her hand that was left “hanging by skin” after she was mauled by an eight-foot shark off Boca Grande beach in Florida on June 11.

Leah’s mom said her daughter’s ‘instincts kicked in’ and she ran out of the bloody water[/caption]

“Something hard bit me and then tried to tug me away,” she said at a news conference at Tampa General Hospital.

While flanked by her parents and doctors, Leah recalled how she and her mom started screaming when they realized what happened.

“I didn’t see anything. I was just snorkeling,” she said.

“I went up to breathe. And then, something hard bit me and tried to take me away.

“Then I pick up my hand and is all in blood. I start screaming with my mom”.

Nadia, Leah’s mom, told reporters how she thought her daughter had lost a limb, saying “It was really, really bad” and that she didn’t think her daughter “was going to have a hand.”

“It’s some sort of miracle that now she has a hand,” she added.

“There was so much blood in the water right next to me, in an instant I knew it’s a shark attack,” Nadia said, adding that her daughter’s “instincts kicked in”.

Leah ran out of the water where she was picked up by her dad and taken to the road where people rushed to help.

“We [saw] that little girl come out from the water with no hand, it was… like everybody was in shock,” eyewitness Alfonso Tello who was on a lunch break at the beach told NBC-affiliate WBBH.

One horrified beach goer who ran to Leah told CBS-affiliate WINK that her hand “was hanging but this piece…they whole thing was completely hanging out. You can see bones all completely red”.

A frantic 911 call revealed how those nearby wrapped towels around Leah’s hand that was “completely destroyed” and put her arm in a tourniquet to stem the bleeding.

Within four minutes, responders from the Boca Grande Fire Department were on scene and she was flown two hours to Tampa General.

MIRACLE WORKERS

Leah’s doctors told reporters how there was a six-hour window for them to save her hand from the moment she was mauled by the shark.

Statement from Leah Lendel's family following the shark attack

Nine-year-old Leah experienced a terrifying and life-altering event. Her family has issued the following statement following the suspected bull shark attack in Boca Grande, Florida:

“We want to say Thank You to everyone that is praying for our sweet Leah.

“We are thankful for the quick response of everyone that was on scene, the construction workers, residents that ran out to help and the first responders and to all the Doctors/Nurses that are doing everything to help our girl.

“Yesterday Leah had an extensive surgery on her hand (wrist & fingers).

“The Doctors, were able to get blood flow to her hand and fingers.

“She is showing some movement in two fingers but can’t feel the rest.

“The doctors will be doing another procedure tomorrow to see if there is anything else that needs to be done.

“The fact that Leah has all her fingers attached is already a testimony.

“From witnessing her wrist hanging on by just the skin, to have blood flow in all of her hand and fingers is truly a miracle.

“Please keep praying for our family, our God is a miracle worker.”

Less than an hour after she arrived at the hospital, she was in surgery where they had to stabilize the bone and take blood vessels from her leg to help restore blood flow to her hand.

“I was trying to hold myself together, Leah’s dad Jay said.

“I think I was crying more than she was.”

An x-ray of her hand shows how the skin, muscles, and bones in her hand were severed almost all the way across the middle.

Doctors called the fact it was a shark bite a “curse and a blessing”.

Their sharp teeth mean the cut was clean and not jagged, meaning there was “good tissue to work with and put back together in a timely fashion,” Dr Alfred Hess said.

Leah will still need physical therapy and to have the pins in her hand removed but her parents say they are “just thankful for everybody”.

“I didn’t think it was possible because I was holding her hand in my hand and I didn’t think there was any chance at all of saving it,” he said.

“I’m so thankful to the surgeons for making such a miracle.”

“I’m just very thankful she’s alive,” Jay added.

Leah said could not wait to start “playing with all my siblings” once her wounds healed.

Her family launched a GoFundMe page to help with her recovery which has received over $47,700 at the time of writing.

This week, another shark attack was reported at a popular US beach and a 12-year-old girl was mauled by a 12ft alligator while playing in shallow water with her friends.

Love Island All Stars’ Hannah Elizabeth shows off incredible bikini body after latest BBL

LOVE Island All Stars beauty Hannah Elizabeth showed off her cosmetically-enhanced curves in a new mirror selfie.

The 35-year-old reality star, who livestreamed a BBL procedure in March last year, stripped down to a bikini in her bedroom.

Wearing her hair in curls, Hannah’s face was hidden behind her phone screen but her tanned body was on display.

Her tiny waist gave way to her trademark big booty and her large thigh tattoo could be seen too.

Fans showered her with compliments, with one writing: “Fine work of art.”

Another said: “U so gorgeous.”

A third wrote: “Hot and stunning.”

Last year, Dr. Omar, a cosmetic surgeon at CREO Clinic, told Hello! that Hannah has splashed out an estimated £32k on procedures.

He said: “I’d estimate around £8000 for a rhinoplasty, £8,000 for other facial surgery, £6,000 for a breast augmentation, and £10,000 for a BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift).

“It’s crucial to note that costs should not be the sole consideration; ensuring the safety and qualifications of the medical professionals and facilities is paramount.”

Mum of one Hannah has always been open about her work and last year filmed a surgeon injecting her bum as she spoke on Instagram.

She said: “I’m not feeling any pain, the area has all been numbed and I’m so excited to show you the result at the end.”

More recently, the Love Island favourite was recently in hospital twice with a mystery condition.

She told her followers: “Now back in A&E this is so bad I can’t cope with this HELL.”

It followed a short stay in hospital where she underwent “last minute surgery”.

She said: “Just wanting to let brands know as I have not been able to work or post or respond to messages.

“Hate to let down but soon as I’m on the mend I can get back to work.”

However, her latest pic appears to show she’s fighting fit once again.
