Messi and Co are level with Palmeiras on four points from two matches.
Portuguese giants Porto and Saudi team Al Ahly have just a point apiece.
Club World Cup 2025 Guide
SOME of the world’s biggest clubs are heading Stateside for a MAMMOTH Club World Cup.
Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Man City, and Inter Miami are among the 32 teams taking part in the tournament, which runs from June 14 to July 13.
Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Ousmane Dembele, Cole Palmer and Harry Kane will be showing their skills to packed crowds across the US.
Los Blancos are favourites to lift the trophy in New York but will face stiff competition from around the globe.
It means Miami will go through – unless they lose to Palmeiras on Messi’s 38th birthday next Tuesday AND Al Ahly overcome Porto.
Fifa will hope the full range of tiebreakers won’t be needed to split teams if they are level on points.
That’s because the eighth and final option is the dreaded drawing of lots.
After points and head-to-head record, goal difference between the teams in question is the third criteria.
Goals scored between the two sides is next – followed by group goal difference and then group goals scored.
Down at number seven is disciplinary points from yellow and red cards.
A booking for a player of staff member is minus one point, two yellows for the same person is minus three, and a straight red card minus four.
Eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi will of course aim to produce more magic to kill off the need for such tiebreakers.
Fans raved he was “still the GOAT” and “from another planet” after his curling free-kick sunk Porto 2-1 on Thursday night, watched by 31,783 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

HOLIDAYMAKERS were left terrified after a bomb threat note was found on a Brit TUI flight from Cardiff to Lanzarote – forcing fighter jets to scramble.
Cheryl Sainsbury, 43 and her pals, from Pontypridd, were all smiles en route to the Canaries – until the pilot made a chilling mid-air announcement.

While flying over Portugal on Thursday morning, Welsh pals Cheryl, Leanne Thomas, Cherie Gurner and Tara Pumford were stunned when the pilot announced the plane must land urgently due to reports of a “device” on board.
Cheryl said: “We were sort of looking at each other thinking ‘what’s he on about’?
“We were all scared but there was no sense of panic as such on board. Everybody seemed to come together and just looked out for each other. We all wanted to make sure everyone was ok.”
Everyone was told to remain in their seats.
The crew searched under the seats and in the overhead lockers to check that all the luggage was accounted for.
Cheryl said: “I think they were looking for a black rucksack.”
Passengers reportedly tried to message loved ones to tell them what was happening as they anxiously waited for updates from the cabin crew.
The group initially thought someone had phoned in a bomb threat – only later did they learn a handwritten note was found by a crew member in one of the aircraft’s toilets.
The pilot then announced a risk assessment had been done and the threat was deemed low, meaning the plane would no longer be landing earlier in Portugal.
But for everyone’s safety, two Portuguese fighter jets escorted the plane to its destination of Arrecife in Lanzarote.

GettyLanzarote is a popular holiday destination for Brits[/caption]
Cheryl said: “Once we landed on the ground, it was the biggest celebration and sense of relief.
“We were taken to a remote part of the airport and there were police and fire engines surrounding the plane. We had to get off one-by-one.”
The group then had to wait for the emergency services on the ground to check through the luggage before they were allowed to leave.
Cheryl explained: “We had to stand on the tarmac with all the luggage but we weren’t allowed to touch of any of it.
“They brought sniffer dogs and the bomb squad so we just had to stand their and watch before they let us on the bus.
“We got taken to some form of compound where there were no refreshments and just one toilet.
“We just had to wait their until they had approval from the police to let us go to get back to the normal part of the airport where we could go through immigration and collect our cases.”
The friends are now unwinding in Lanzarote with a drink or two to help “settle their nerves” after the ordeal.
They are due to fly back home on Sunday – and are hoping that flight will be less eventful.
Cheryl said: “It was such a weird experience especially as I’m a quite anxious flyer so I don’t know how we did it. Even though we were all scared, we just stuck together and tried to keep it calm.”
She added that the cabin crew from TUI remained calm and were “brilliant” with all the passengers.
Specialists from the GEDEX (Explosives Deactivation Group), the Fiscal and Border Section, investigation units and citizen security patrols all intervened, as reported by The Sun on Thursday.
The inspection found no explosive device on board.
Flight BY6422 landed at Lanzarote airport at around 10.55am on Thursday.
A spokesperson for Cardiff Airport said: “We are aware of an incident involving flight TOM6422 from Cardiff to Lanzarote on 19/06/25.
“The safety of our passengers is our number one priority. No concerns or suspicious activity were raised prior to departure.”
Spain’s Civil Guard has launched an investigation to determine who wrote the note.
The force stressed that this type of act is a serious crime, as it causes alarm, compromises public safety and forces specialised resources to be used.
TUI has been contacted for comment.

A WOMAN who works as a barista in Costa has revealed the most annoying traits of customers.
Lauren Taylor, from the UK, took to social media to inform people about what they shouldn’t do when ordering a coffee.
Getty - ContributorA Costa barista has revealed the worst things customers do to them[/caption]
tiktok/@laurenjtaylorLauren Taylor didn’t hold back[/caption]
The first annoying thing many customers do is simply forget their manners.
Lauren will greet customers with a ‘hello’ but instead of saying it back, many bark their drink order at her.
“A simple hello goes a long way,” she reminded them.
Another grievance of Lauren’s was that customers would not pick a size for their drink, instead insisting they wanted a ‘normal’ size.
She urged them to simply look at the available sizes and pick one.
The barista was also fed up with customers thinking she was a mind reader when it came to what coffee they wanted.
Many would ask for ‘just a coffee’ despite having twenty different ones to choose from
Lauren would often suggest a classic Americano with milk, but would be corrected by the customer that they wanted a latte.
The barista was often stuck calling out the coffee order to the customer standing in front of them with no reply in return.
She said it seems like customers often forget what they ordered or choose to blatantly ignore her.
Last but not least, Lauren was sick of customers ordering their coffee while being busy on the phone.
Not only was it rude, but customers often order the wrong drink as they’re preoccupied and then blame the barista.
“Somehow, this is still my fault,” she said.
The video has since gone viral on her TikTok account @laurenjtaylor with over 88k views.
Costa Coffee loyalty scheme perks
COSTA Club members can get early access to new menus among other perks.
To join download the Costa Coffee app, it’s free to download via the Apple app store or Google Play store.
Stamps can be collected in any of the chain’s 2,800 coffee shops, as well as around 12,000 machines in petrol stations and convenience stores.
You can get stamps for spending in store and using a reusable cup.
You get a free drink after collecting ten stamps, or beans as they are called.
For a small latte, at £3.50, it’s £35 to get a free coffee.
Those going to a Costa store can earn an additional bean with a reusable cup, so that cuts the outlay down to £17.50 or buying five coffees.
How it works: 1 drink purchased = 1 bean, 10 beans = free drink
Small latte cost: £3.50
Number of drinks to hit target: 10
Cost for a ‘free’ coffee: £35
Reusable cup bonus: Yes, one extra bean
You also get free cake on your birthday.
Plenty of people who work in hospitality took to the comments, sharing their own stories.
One person wrote: “I work at Greggs and I feel your pain.”
Another commented: “I had a woman last week ask me for a normal coffee… she wanted an oat milk flat white.”
“‘Regular latte’ ‘Ok medium’ ‘No?? Small,'” penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “I work at Costa and can confirm all these things are 100% spot on.”
“As someone who works in a cinema I totally understand this! No one ever tells you what they actually want,” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “’Can I get a white coffee’ then proceeds to argue with me that a white coffee is a latte and there’s no such thing as an americano with milk.2

THIS is the moment a diner crumples to the floor outside a restaurant after eating the “UK’s hottest curry.”
The man, named Daniel, took on the challenge of eating the extremely spicy curry served by London restaurant, Bengal Village, located in Brick Lane.
XDaniel was left with a burning mouth after eating just a spoonful of the curry[/caption]
XThe curry was too hot for him to handle and he gave up almost immediately after his first bite[/caption]
XDaniel ended up shirtless on the street outside as he struggled to cool down[/caption]
Video of Daniel’s attempt shows Mr Raj, who is the face of Bengal Village, serving Daniel the dish whilst wearing a gas mask, gloves and sunglasses.
Mr Raj warns: “It does get to the back of your throat a bit.
“Have some water, we’ll be alright.”
Daniel can next be seen taking a spoonful of the dish and struggling to tolerate the spice, then turning red.
It then cuts to Daniel collapsed on the pavement outside the restaurant, with his shirt off visibly sweating, and a small carton of milk beside him.
Mr Raj attempts to comfort his customer outside on the floor, bringing him a large glass of mango lassi.
“It will cool all your insides, your livers, and within ten minutes you’ll be back up,” Mr Raj says.
“Believe me, just take it, please listen to me.
“I know I’m not a doctor, but it will help you.”
If a customer is able to finish the curry within 15 minutes, they are able to receive their whole table meal for free no matter how many guests.
London’s so-called “hottest curry” contains 72 spices, including the hot Carolina Reaper and a rare chilli from Bangladesh known as “snake chilli”.
On the Bengal Village website, the restaurant writes: “Disclaimer: We take no responsibility of any after effects.”
Owner of Bengal Village, Mo, 24, who has been running the establishment since he was 17, has seen the challenge blow up after sharing it on social media.

XDaniel can be seen in video footage desperately gulping drinks in a bid to kill the heat[/caption]
XThe restaurant owner believes it is the worlds hottest curry[/caption]
He told The Sun: “We believe it’s actually the worlds hottest but the public can decide that.
“We add 72 different chilli’s to this curry so it cost us a lot more to make than to sell it.
“The chilli’s we use for this curry are from all around the world especially India and Bangladesh where my heritage start.”
He added: “We do not encourage any customers to have this dish, they do on their own accord.”
The restaurant also offers a number of other challenges if customers have no chance of completing the hot curry challenge.
They include consuming three poppadoms within 60 seconds without any fluids, or a “roll the dice” to get two sixes.
However, the hot curry remains their most popular challenge.
Daniel was reportedly fine after a short while with restaurant owner Mo telling The Sun: “After about 30 minutes he was fine and well, it’s a temporary pain.”
How to manage a spicy dish
Here's how to cool down your mouth after a spicy dish
To effectively manage the heat from spicy food you could consume dairy products like milk or yogurt.
Alternatively, acidic foods like lemonade or orange juice can help neutralize the spice.
Starchy foods such as bread, rice, or potatoes can also absorb some of the spice and provide relief.
Capsaicin is the chemical compound that gives chillies their heat. Dairy products, acidic foods and starchy foods all work to eliminate capsaicin in different ways.
Milk: Whole milk is often recommended over skim milk due to its higher fat content, which helps bind to capsaicin.
Yogurt: Provides a cooling effect and contains casein, which helps neutralize capsaicin.
Other Dairy: Sour cream or ice cream can also be helpful.
Lemonade, Limeade, Orange Juice: The acidity can help counteract the spicy sensation.
Tomato-based foods: The acidity can also help.
Bread: Crusty bread with its nooks and crannies can help distract the taste buds.
Rice, Potatoes, or other starchy foods: Can absorb some of the capsaicin.

GARETH BALE wants to buy hometown club Cardiff.
The Wales legend is leading a consortium to take over the League One side.

Shutterstock EditorialIt follows Bale having links with Plymouth[/caption]
Bale’s group sent a letter of intent to Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan last month, which was rejected.
But it is believed the desire to acquire the club, relegated from the Championship, remains strong.
The 35-year-old was born in Cardiff and his uncle Chris Pike played for the Welsh club as a striker between 1989 and 1993.
Bale, who had a glittering career for Southampton, Tottenham, Real Madrid and LAFC as well as for the Dragons, had been linked with a takeover at Plymouth.
He led his country to their first World Cup since 1958 as well as appearing at two Euros finals, including the incredible run to the 2016 semi-finals.
Bale is also Wales’ most-capped player on 111 caps and record goalscorer after netting 41 times.
He did not play for Cardiff but the ex-forward did have talks with the club in 2022 after he left Real.
Instead, Bale went to LAFC before he officially retired in January 2023.

Bale’s potential investment in Cardiff comes just weeks after ex-Spurs and Real team-mate Luka Modric became a co-owner of south Wales rivals Swansea.
Cardiff appointed Brian Barry-Murphy this week ahead of their first campaign in the third tier since 2003.
After Omer Riza was sacked in April, Wales star Aaron Ramsey was interim boss for three games.
But Bale’s close pal is set for a move to continue his playing career in Mexico.

I JUST visited Dyson’s website and it told me 1,600 people were also looking at the same fan I’ve been trying out.
Sean Keach / The SunThe Sun’s tech editor Sean Keach has been beating the heat with a Dyson fan[/caption]
Sean Keach / The SunThe hi-tech fan doesn’t just cool you down – it’ll warm your room up in the winter too[/caption]
The fan even has a night mode to cool you as you sleepDyson
The name is a mouthful admittedly, but don’t let that put you off.
This posh fan is an elite bit of cooling gear, and would probably be better suited on a spaceship than my desk.
It cools you down, obviously. You’d expect that for £699.99. But it does so much more. Somehow, I’m convinced it’s absolutely worth the money – but first, let’s talk about how it looks.
DYSON HP09 DESIGN – THE LOOKS
This is one of Dyson’s quintessential bladeless fans.
It’s the classic design of legendary inventor Sir James Dyson, who recently spoke to The Sun about ambition and the future of Britain. They’re a brainy lot at Dyson HQ.
To an observer, there are no moving parts. No whirring blades that risk slicing a fingertip off (and it doesn’t make that whoosh-whoosh-whoosh noise either).
There is a blade-like impeller in the base that draws air in and accelerates it, pushing it out to create a cooling airflow. But you don’t see any of that. You just feel wondrously cold.
The one I’ve been trying has a white and gold trim that should suit most rooms. It’s not gaudy – but it looks fancy enough to justify the price tag.
The squat design means that it’s fine to live on the floor, but can also sit on a desk if you prefer.
And it can oscillate up to a whopping 350 degrees, so you can send a breeze to everyone in the room. Or just can have it locked to cool you and you alone. The choice is yours.
All in all, it’s especially pretty and, as a bonus, your pals will be impressed by (and envious of) your luxe gadget. Especially in the heat.
DYSON HP09 PERFORMANCE – HOT OR COLD?
This fan heats and cools. The clue is in the name: Hot+Cool.
It does both very well, though I think its real benefit is heating.
Cooling is fine, and works best when the fan is pointed directly at you.
Sean Keach / The SunThe fan uses Dyson’s classic bladeless design[/caption]
Sean Keach / The SunIt has a built-in display – and can even show air quality live in real-time[/caption]
But the heating function can really warm up an entire room very quickly, even if you’re not in the line of fire.
Some Dyson fans only cool, so having one that does both massively increases the value for money. After all, you can use it all year round.
The cooling really does work, even when it’s not at max power. And its reach is impressive – I can sit across the room and feel the breeze.
It’s not particularly loud unless you put it on power level 10, and even then it’s not awful. You can easily have a conversation over it.
Sean Keach / The SunThe Dyson fan comes with a remote that magnetically snaps to the top of the machine[/caption]
I can sleep through it at max power too.
But for light sleepers, there’s a night mode that dims the built-in display and lets it run especially quietly.
That’s probably the best way to use it, especially if you’re sharing a bed and value your relationship.
DYSON HP09 FEATURES – THE BRAINS
The Dyson comes with a remote control, which is a handy way to control fan speed, cooling power, and rotation.
But I prefer using the app, which is free to download and has all of the same buttons.
It’s better because I always have my phone, but I’m not always with the remote.
And if I’ve forgotten to turn it off before I go out, I can easily check on the app and shut it down.
DYSON HP09 PURIFICATION – THE REAL PERK
What I’ve completely avoided talking about up to this point is the purification.
Sean Keach / The SunYou attach filters during setup – it only takes a few seconds[/caption]
Why? Because I’m saving the best until last.
The real perk of the fan isn’t the heating or cooling – but its ability to preserve your life by scrubbing the air of pollutants.
This fan comes with a series of filters (you snap them in during the 60-second setup) that snag all kind of nasties that would otherwise be entering your lungs.
I don’t know about you, but I quite like my respiratory system.
Sean Keach / The SunThe app has all of the features you’d find on the remote – and plenty more[/caption]
All of this can be monitored inside the app I was talking about earlier.
It shows exactly how polluted the room is (and by what – down to specifics, including dreaded formaldehyde) and you can watch the levels go down as the fan works its magic.
You can also see air quality reports on the fan’s built-in display, but the screen gives a much more detailed view.
Heating and cooling is fine, but it’s hard to put a price on your health.
WHERE CAN FORMALDEHYDE COME FROM IN YOUR HOME?
Formaldehyde is a polluting gas that you'll often find in homes
Here’s Dyson’s list of sources for the gas…
Paint
Varnish
Glue
Air freshener
Mattresses
Household cleaners
Carpets
Particleboard
Plywood
Electronics
Dryer sheets
Nail polish remover
Moth balls
Toys
Fireplaces
Wood-burning stoves
Sure, you’re paying a lot. You can get fans for significantly cheaper. If you’re on a budget, don’t buy this. But if you’ve got the cash to spare and want a super fan, you can’t go wrong with this model.
The filters will last about a year, and you’ll get an alert when it’s time to change them.
And they promise to remove 99.95% of particles down to a shockingly tiny 0.1 microns.
That means you’re waving goodbye to mould spores, allergens, bacteria, viruses, and (as the name suggests) irritating formaldehyde, which can come from paint, furniture, carpets, tech, and more.
Sean Keach / The SunYou can monitor the air quality of your home in the app from anywhere in the world[/caption]
You might not “see” the benefits, but having the peace of mind that you’re not breathing in rubbish will help you sleep easier.

THE family of Henry Mount Charles will open the gates of Slane Castle this weekend for fans to pay their respects.
The legendary Slane host died on Wednesday, aged 74, following a brave battle with cancer.
Henry Mount Charles and concert promoter Denis DesmondCrispin Rodwell - The Sun DublinSlane Castle will be open this weekend for fans to pay their respectsAlamy
Henry’s son Alex revealed that a book of condolence would be available to sign for those who wished to pay tribute to the rock ‘n’ roll peer.
The castle will be open tomorrow and Sunday between 10am and 6pm.
Alex said: “With this profound sense of gratitude and in recognition of the shared affection for Lord Henry, the Mount Charles family would like to open their arms and the iconic gates of Slane Castle this weekend to people who would like to pay their respects and celebrate Henry’s life by signing a book of condolence.”
He added: “We have been truly touched by the strength of public sentiment and are deeply grateful for the countless expressions of sympathy and shared memories.
“Dad’s warmth, spirit, and dedication to Slane, its people, and its legacy forged friendships that extended incredibly far and wide.
“The memories created within the walls and on the grounds of Slane Castle over the decades hold a uniquely special place in so many hearts, reflecting Lord Henry’s own passion for heritage, culture, Slane Castle and its community.”
Pals have revealed that Lord Henry never stopped thinking about the next big concert at his beloved Slane Castle, even in his final days battling illness.
MCD co-founder Denis Desmond, who collaborated with the aristocrat on a string of massive concerts at Slane Castle, joined in the tributes.
The music supremo said: “Even while in hospital battling poor health during his later years, he stayed connected to what was happening in the live music business, always thinking of what was coming next and which emerging acts or established artists he’d most like to see at the castle.”
Hailing Henry as a “visionary with an enormous sense of fun and a tremendous work ethic”, Denis added: “The phrase ‘rock ‘n’ Roll Icon’ can sometimes be used too lightly but Henry Mount Charles truly was one who earned the title.
‘ENORMOUS IMPACT’
“Over more than 40 years, he put and kept Slane Castle on the map as an iconic global music venue.”
He continued: “He was a visionary with an enormous sense of fun and a tremendous work ethic. Onsite morning, noon and night, he was across so many details and always the last man standing when the lights went out and the show was over.
“Henry had an enormous impact on the acts who played at Slane. Long after the final note sounded, world-class performers would talk about him and the spectacular home he opened out to music lovers.
“Hundreds of thousands of fans from Ireland and abroad made lifelong memories at shows in Slane over the decades and so much of the credit for that is due to Henry and his hospitality. He wanted everyone to have a great time, stay safe and come again.
‘BRILLIANT MANNER’
“He had a brilliant manner and style – almost always getting his way but also always treating people with respect. His laugh was infectious and he had a sense of humour that was often at its best in darker moments when the laughs were harder to come by but more important than ever.”
Top promoter Desmond also highlighted the hurdles that Henry faced trying to hang on to his ancestral home on the banks of the Boyne.
Denis explained: “His wasn’t an easy life and there were huge setbacks, like the terrible fire in 1991, but he never let these grind him down and always worked towards a better tomorrow.
“To his loving family, especially his wife Iona and children Alexander, Henrietta, Wolfe and Tamara, as well as his extended family and wide circle of friends in Ireland and far beyond, we send our sympathies.
“Truly, we will not see his likes again and the world is a poorer place for his passing but also a better and brighter place for his life.

MANCHESTER UNITED have identified Europa League-winning goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi as a possible replacement for Andre Onana, reports suggest.
Goalkeeper is a position Red Devils chiefs want to address following an error-strewn season from No. 1 Onana.

AlamyThey will move for him if Andre Onana is sold amid interest from Monaco[/caption]
Having signed the Cameroon international for £47million two summers ago, his high-profile mistakes have continued to cost Man Utd.
And Ruben Amorim is said to be willing to cash in on the goalkeeper to shore up the defence.
Onana, 29, has attracted interest from Ligue 1 side Monaco, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
However, Man Utd have wasted no time lining up a replacement in the form of Italian goalkeeper Carnesecchi.
The 24-year-old has been the No.1 in Bergamo under Gian Piero Gasperini since his arrival at the club in the summer of 2023.
He has kept 28 clean sheets in 76 games and was part of the squad which won the Europa League in 2024 as Ademola Lookman scored a hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen to secure the club’s first-ever European trophy.
However, he could now follow Gasperini in leaving the club after Man Utd made contact with his representatives about a switch to England.
The Old Trafford outfit have not made contact with Atalanta yet, and the Serie A side will need a substantial offer to sell.
