As of now, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is still the latest Call of Duty game to dig into, as it’s still being given tons of new additions and updates on a consistent basis. However, that doesn’t mean that Activision isn’t working on future Call of Duty games.

More and more details regarding the next Call of Duty title are beginning to spread like wildfire. Reports suggest that the 2025 title will be Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, developed by Treyarch. It’s set to elevate everything established by Black Ops 6 but seems to include one of the most controversial features of the game, which divided the community.
This one feature could prove to be Black Ops 7‘s downfall
According to reports, Call of Duty 2025 is supposed to be a direct sequel to 2012’s Black Ops 2, and it’s going to be the first futuristic game in the franchise since 2018. It’s planning to feature the classic maps from Black Ops 2, just like what we’ve seen from the recent Modern Warfare remasters.
The Ghost of Hope, a reliable Call of Duty leaker, has taken it to Twitter/X and revealed more bits and pieces about the upcoming title. According to the leaker, Call of Duty 2025 which is claimed to be Black Ops 7 will once again feature running and the omnimovement system.
In every Call of Duty game, we’ve seen the introduction of new features and additions, and this trend continued with Black Ops 6. Activision gave us the omnimovement system that allowed gamers to sprint, slide, and dive in any direction without losing the full 360-degree range of motions.
While it was supposed to enhance the experience, many in the community aren’t particularly satisfied with the omnimovement system. Players believe that the feature goes against the very core of Call of Duty and removes the skill of positioning and quick reactions. Some even suggest that it has made Black Ops 6 the sweatiest entry in the franchise, leaving no room for casuals.
Considering the negative reception of the omnimovement system, it’s surprising that Activision and Treyarch aren’t giving up on the feature. It’s quite clear that gamers prefer the traditional movement mechanics of the franchise and not new gimmicks.
Let’s hope the developers can listen to the community’s concerns and at least give the players an option to toggle off the feature if they don’t feel comfortable using it.
Black Ops 7 might still be coming to PS4 and Xbox One

It’s been more than a decade since the release of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, a number of developers still support the hardware despite the fact that the current generation of consoles is in the final years of their life cycle. Even Activision is supporting older-generation consoles for a number of Call of Duty games.
Many in the community have felt that the decision to release on older hardware is the primary reason why Warzone still can’t rotate between two huge maps, like other Battle Royale games such as Apex Legends. The game does receive new maps, but the old ones are replaced.
That trend isn’t likely to come to an end with the release of Black Ops 7. According to reports from CharlieIntel, the game might still end up being released on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The insiders have heard that the title is being developed for older consoles.
It’s quite shocking that Activision still hasn’t learned anything from the release of Black Ops 6 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The release of the game on these consoles was the primary reason why it couldn’t innovate on the Call of Duty formula.
