President Cyril Ramaphosa says a Commission of Inquiry will investigate the allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
The investigation relates to the infiltration of law enforcement intelligence and associated situations within the criminal justice system by criminal syndicates.
The South African Police Service, the National Prosecuting Authority, and the Metropolitan Police will be under investigation.
