It’s been nearly 20 years since Bones premiered and fans are still clamoring for a revival — but would stars Emily Deschanel and Carla Gallo come back?
“I would. I’m very vocal about it,” Gallo, who played Daisy Wicks on the series, exclusively told Us Weekly on Tuesday, March 18. “I’m the first one to be like, ‘Hey, [creator] Hart Hanson, what about a reboot?’ I have no game.”
The actress, who cohosts the “Boneheads” podcast with Deschanel, 48, confessed she misses her castmates.
“I miss being together,” Gallo, 49, revealed. “I find myself, actually, this is embarrassing, but I’ve been watching the clips of us filming. … It brings me so much joy just watching us all back together. I’ll just put my vote in. I would like to do it.”
Deschanel, who played the show’s lead anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan alongside David Boreanaz as FBI special agent Seeley Booth, is also on board with a revival.

“Not every job is joyous and fun,” Deschanel exclusively told Us in a joint interview, recalling her time on the Fox series. “Not that every moment was. There are hard times, and it was a lot of hard work.”
Despite having to put in the work, she explained it was worth it because the Bones team was special. “Not every job do you have a great time doing it and do you enjoy the people you work with so much, like we did on Bones,” Deschanel explained.
Reboots and Revivals Missing Beloved TV Stars
She noted that because of the camaraderie on set, “I’m open to it.” Deschanel joked, “I don’t know who makes these decisions, but you know, I’m open to such a thing.”
Deschanel played Brennan on Bones for 12 seasons from 2005 to 2017. Throughout the series, Brennan and her team at the Jeffersonian — including squintern Daisy — worked with Booth to solve crimes where all that was left of the victim was their bones. (Gallo joined the series during season 4 in 2008.)

Brennan and Booth eventually fell in love on the show, adding to the reasons fans loved the show so much.
While Deschanel and Gallo are excited about a possible reboot, they aren’t the first stars from the show to express interest in a comeback.
Emily Deschanel Has Never Seen ‘Bones’ Costar David Boreanaz on ‘Buffy’
Boreanaz, 55, called the show “lightning in a bottle” in August 2024, telling TV Insider, “I hold that so near and dear, it would be great to relive that again.”
There is no official word on whether Bones could get the revival treatment. However, fans of the series can get behind-the-scenes stories and revisit the show weekly on Deschanel and Gallo’s “Boneheads” podcast.

“Betty White, you know, is a bucket list person, and we just missed that so sadly,” Deschanel told Us when asked about their dream guests on the podcast, referring to the late actress who played Dr. Beth Mayer on the series during season 11 and 12. (White died in December 2021 at the age of 99.)
Deschanel continued, “Michael B. Jordan was on the show. That would be awesome.”
Emily Deschanel ‘Surprised’ David Boreanaz Wants ‘Bones’ Reboot: ‘I’m Open’
Gallo told Us she “would love” to have Cyndi Lauper as a guest after her appearances on the series. “I’m shocked by the guest stars that they got. It feels endless. We’ve, like, barely scratched the surface,” Gallo said.
“It’s a gift that keeps on giving. People can watch it and keep watching it. You don’t even need a DVD set,” Deschanel said with a laugh. “You can watch it on Hulu or Peacock and probably other places too.”

When Gallo reminded her that fans can “listen to the podcast” every Wednesday, Deschanel added that each episode has “behind the scenes scoops.”
Plus, listeners get to “just hang out with us as friends talking,” Deschanel concluded.
The “Boneheads” podcast is produced by Lemonada Media with new episodes released every Wednesday.
