‘Blessed’ Amanda Serrano shows her class with message to Katie Taylor on social media after third loss to Irish legend

AMANDA SERRANO praised Katie Taylor for “acting like a great inside and outside the ring” after their feud came to an end on Saturday.

Taylor, 39, clinched a hat-trick of victories over her career rival to retain her undisputed super lightweight titles with a performance Eddie Hearn deemed a “masterclass”.

The majority decision victory at Madison Square Garden brought to a close one of the great chapters in the story of women’s boxing.

And taking to social media, Serrano paid tribute to the Irishwoman, with whom she felt “blessed” to share the ring.

The 36-year-old said: “So blessed to have shared the Ring with such an Amazing fighter @KatieTaylor

“To be considered the Greatest you have to act like one. She does that both in & out the Ring. Thank you truly”.

While there were incidents of tension and trash-talking between the two in the lead-up to the fight, they were nothing but respectful towards one another after KT had her hand raised.

Indeed, Serrano’s above comment was in reaction to Taylor’s own praise of the Puerto Rican.

After the bell, the victorious Irishwoman said: “First of all, I want to thank God for an amazing victory. Thank you Jesus.

“I needed a lot of help down the home stretch today.

“I want to thank Amanda Serrano, what an amazing fighter. We made history together three times. This was a historic fight.

“It was a pleasure to share the ring with her and we are history makers forever.”

While one rivalry is cooling down, another is heating up to boiling point as Katie Taylor engages in a war of words with Chantelle Cameron.

The two rivals have been locked in a bitter feud that has seen them fight twice.

The first, in May 2023, saw Cameron spoil Taylor’s homecoming party by beating her at the 3Arena.

Six months later, the Bray woman got her win back in Dublin to become undisputed super lightweight champion.

With the series locked at 1-1, the 39-year-old was asked if she would be interested in the trilogy.

She responded with a biting insult, remarking: “I think Chantelle has to see if she can sell-out a 10,000-seater arena first.

“I don’t think she can sell out any stadium at all.

“I think I made her more money than she deserves, to be quite honest.”

Chantelle Cameron responded to those comments on her Instagram Story, claiming “money is getting to your head.”

The 34-year-old said: “@katie_t86 be disrespectful all you want. But you shouted me out for YOUR HOMECOMING and I gave you your first loss with zero controversy.

“Dragging me back & having to headbut & hug the life out of me to win the rematch.

“Now full of any excuses not to fight”.

DO ME A FAVOUR

She followed this up with a screenshot of an Instagram post from Taylor in which the Bray Bomber called her nemesis out for their first encounter.

She said: “Don’t forget @katie_t86 who called who out…but now I’m not “not worthy” enough & done me a “favour”??

“Stay humble Katie, the @mostvaluablepromotions money is going to your head.

“Don’t forget @katie_t86 who called who out and you wanted me for your homecoming-I accepted. So you done me no favour I ruined your party.

“Stay humble this money is going to your head that @mostvaluablepromotions @jakepaul @nakisabidarian are paying you”.

Cameron, who is WBC interim super lightweight champion, remains keen on fighting Taylor for a third time, potentially at Croke Park.

She shared a screengrab of a message from a follower advocating for such a scenario.

The message read: “Just so you are aware, alot of Irish want that trilogy in Croke Park. Only fight that makes sense.

“Im Irish Katie is our hero but we love you also.

“Make it a record breaker. Push for Croke Park 82,000 people and it will fill twice.”

Cameron responded to this message by saying: “Woke up to so many of these messages today and I’ll happily return to Ireland for the 3rd time.

“@mostvaluablepromotions are the ones to make it happen”
