In the past year, Blake Lively has been through a lot. Not only was the filming of It Ends With Us notoriously contentious, but she and co-star Justin Baldoni have been wrapped up in a legal battle ever since. But as Lively moves on to her next movie, the sequel Another Simple Favor, drama has seemed to follow her no matter what.
Her first project following the Baldoni scandal, which included Lively suing him for sexual harassment and retaliation, has also raised some eyebrows. Most famously, fans have speculated a long-running feud between Lively and her co-star Anna Kendrick ever since the first movie, A Simple Favor, in 2018.
But Kendrick and Lively reported drama isn’t where drama around Another Simple Favor ends. On March 13, iconic actress Sharon Stone took to Instagram to confess to her own involvement in the movie.
According to her comment left behind in E! News’ video unpacking the Kendrick-Lively drama, Stone wrote, “I LOVED being cast and removed from my role unexpectedly for no reason at all LOVED it 👏👏👏👏.”
While Stone didn’t divulge any more details, fans are understandably furious. “@sharonstone WHAT?! Who does that to a LEGEND like you??? 😡” commented one fan. “@sharonstone what?! Someone was for sure threatened by your Icon status ❤️,” wrote another, hinting to Lively’s reported attitude on set.
For the record, the movie, which was directed by Bridesmaids director Paul Feig, includes a long list of familiar faces on the cast including Andrew Ranells, Alison Janney, Elizabeth Perkins and Michele Morrone. Stone’s name, however, is not listed.
Stone’s comment is only the latest drama to involve the movie. At the movie’s premiere at SXSW, Kendrick gave some icy answers to questions about Lively.
In one now-viral video, Entertainment Tonight asked the Alice, Darling star, “What does it mean to be working with Blake again?” And Kendrick responds, walking away and smiling, “Oh, you know!” And this three-word response has fans going wild, with some calling it shady or dismissive.
At the same event, a reporter from Variety asked, “How does it feel like the movie is being impacted kind of by everything happening around going on in the world?”
Kendrick then looked puzzled and replied, “Why, what happened?” She added, “I did Ayahuasca and the last year of my life is just gone, but I’ve heard the movie is amazing.” What a way to swerve the question!
Overall, it seems Lively’s new movie will also be riddled with drama. From the Kendrick tensions to Stone’s surprising confession, Lively isn’t out of the woods just yet.
